The bone-chilling breeze off Lake Michigan carries unnerving whispers of days gone by.
Sinister Chicago chronicles the unknown, unusual, or otherwise unexplained events that have occurred in Chicago’s short history. Author Kali Joy Cramer uncovers the sinister foundations of Chicago’s urban legends and unravels the facts around its most notorious murder cases. She looks below the superficial stories of Chicago’s most infamous characters and chronicles the tragic accidents that left their mark on the city.
Another text that gives an overview of Chicago’s historical high points. I found several 1920s chapters useful which was my goal in reading it. And tidbit of information that makes my novel feel set in that decade the better. And many of the speakeasy gangsters where more notorious in Chicago than in my own novel’s New York setting. It’s an interesting read just to get a feel of some the darker side of the windy city. Its easy to see why you still get vote after death once burry in Chicago.
For lovers of Chicago and those that don't know any better.
Very interesting book. I liked the balance of details and summaries that the author used to tell these stories. That kept my interest. I have a love of Chicago and it was nice to share that live with the author for a few hours.
