SMH.... really hard, then hitting my head on the wall really hard. Two is a company, but three is a crowd. This isn't a bad read, but what made it so frustrating, Kai. I'll give this book two ratings, 3*** stars because it was likable and 1* star for Kai, smh, what was she thinking. Todd, he needs to take some of the blame as well. However, no matter how frustrated you get with a character, it's about the story as a whole, not the choices the character makes. Although you pretty much could see what was going to happen way before it did, the author did take you on a roller coaster ride with the relationship between, Kai and Todd and the calculating best friend, Alana.
Before reading, you should know this book has three parts to it as this story ends with a cliff hanger. Also, as a heads up, there are f/f scenes.
I don't even know how to feel about this book coz the twists were so fucking crazy!! I knew Alana was bad news, and Todd, just fuck. And what Raymond did to her sister, Kai. I just can't even. Maybe Kai's mom and sister knew that's why they came around. It is so sad. And now she's fucking pregnant, Just fuck. Though I am not going to read the next books, I know they will be fun.
They're just stressful and I don't need that kind of stress in December. I will try them later in my future. I dunno what to feel but fuck Alana and Raymond.
I have never read a book where I literally took a roller coaster ride with the Heroine, KAI...I was so engrossed and so emotionally charged it felt like I was there, right in the middle of it all with all the characters...each one as important as the other to make the story whole...starting from Kai's ball busting boss and ever so funny friend, whom every time she opens her mouth I break out laughing... to the enigmatic Alana, whose sole purpose is to destroy the relationship of Kai and her boyfriend/Fiancee Todd...she'll stop at nothing to get what she wants...so devious that would make you cringed, deceitful, scheming and surreptitious that left Kai reeling with the aftermath of the whole affair... to the invertebrate Todd, whose gullibility would make you sick and drive you to want to suck him in the face! Lastly, to the fiery and fervent Kai who took me there...from knowing what to do and not really knowing what to do...all these characters made me feel the ultimate emotion, I laughed and cried... I got mad, angry, devastated at Todd's ultimate decision... I got nervous and scared that got my hands cold and clammy and heart racing with the final confrontation... I got the highs and the lows and still left me wanting more!...and so I DID! I got KAI'S Aftermath Book 2 and I am so Gung ho to read it!
I really enjoyed this book. Gotta thank my girl Carla for getting me hip to it:) It was well written and all the characters were well developed. Kai seemed like a really smart girl but that Alana got her way off track. I knew it would end badly. I wish Todd was perceptive but I continued to like him. Simone is my girl and I loved, loved, loved her. That the kind of friend I strive to be. Supportative yet honest. Great book and I'm almost done with book 2. I also liked Raymond but that last little bit of information made me really think how addictions affect not only ourselves but can be life-changing for others. His addiction as well as Kai.
I didn't know what to expect when I began reading this book, but not long after starting, I didn't want to put the book down. Shock after shock! Twists and turns everywhere!! I would definitely be referring this book to my friends. I didn't know there was a sequel, but I am buying and starting that today!!
THIS IS WHY I DON’T READ F-CHARACTER-DRIVEN ROMANCE
This isn’t the kind of book I normally read but since it was free on Smashwords, I thought why not? I could dip my toes in and get a feel of it. It might change my mind about my preferences or I might find the story interesting at the very least; I’m open to trying again.
Oh boy, dear fucking god no. Was I mistaken. Right off the bat, the main character’s voice is annoying as hell, and wow. Talk about objectifying another human being like he was a piece of meat. Like this was on a whole new level, and that’s saying a lot because I consume a helluva lotta MM erotica and not even in the most depraved plotless MM porn have I ever read anything so disgustingly dehumanising—and this character thinks herself a saint compared to guys who cheat on girls?? What? Big bright red delulu flags number one and two waving proudly right there. But because I really wanted to give this a chance (and was only the first few pages in) I just cringed through the first wave of that horror and tried to power through, hoping that it was not gonna be like that the rest of the way, but… Jesus bloody Christ, no. It doesn’t stop. I don’t know how anyone can keep reading with such an obnoxious and narcissistic narrator. This book seriously gives me the creeps—not for me; not my idea of a good read. This reminded me (in the most unpleasantly sobering way) exactly why I don’t read female-character-driven romances, ever. God I wish I could bleach my brain of what I read; it makes me want to put a bullet to my head.
K. Elle Collier blew me away with this book. I found it highly relatable seeing that I once had a man with a female's best friend and I was sketchy about. I purchased the remaining books within this series to know how the story ended.

I couldn't put the book down, I was intrigued I wanted to get to the end of the story then there was a sequel, I was disappointed that I had to read more books.
OMG not your typical love story a love triangle between Kai,Todd, and Alana Lies. Betrayal,Pain, Temptation, Love,Sex, Manipulation. Curiosity got the best of Kai and it backfired on her with the secret affair she had with Todd best friend Alana who ends up being a women. Alana used Kai to get to Todd it was so twisted how she did Kai to ended their relationship. Kai went thru trials and tribulations to be with Todd she ended up losing him to Alana and finding Todd had a secret of his own Alana daughter Riley is Todd daughter he also told Alana Kai secret about being raped and couldn't have children. Kia found out she pregnant with Todd child she left Chicago and moved to New York to start a new life without the love of her life. I can't wait to read the next book in the Best Friend series. K. Elle Collier is great author I really enjoyed her books I can't wait to read the next book about Kai, Todd, and Alana.
I liked it. I didn't find myself pulled into the erotic scenes, and I didn't like some of the protagonist's choices, but in the end, it was real. It wasn't trite or hastily resolved, and if it seemed complicated and dramatic and messy -- well, that's been too true of my own life too. Ultimately, whatever I thought of the main character from one moment to the next, overall I was cheering for her. And I got up from the book feeling energized to get to work on my own life -- not rolling my eyes due to a ridiculous hasty ending. But there are definitely a few things the author doesn't know about wine. ;) Occasional grammatical errors.
Total drama and full of sex on all levels. I loved the fighting, backstabbing, love/hate relationship with the shock of real life events around ever turn. This is one of the best stories ever read. I only wish that it would ended with her actually now living in New York and doing very well, then met an handsome billionaire which treated her like the queen she always were. Which had gotten married and had children and having all the results making every news station, magazine, news stand across the country. One other thing, Todd and Alana ended up bankrupt and Todd lose his practice because of his wife Alana bad decision makings.
OMGeeeee, this was such a good book. It's hard writing a review without spoilers, but I'll just say the dating game is rough. Everyone in this book had secrets. The story became predictable halfway through, but I loved seeing how everything played out. I saw through Alana from the get go, and Kai...I just shook my head at her several times. She was a smart businesswoman, but made so many mistakes when it came to her relationship, and her bad decisions cost her everything in the end...but not really, because Todd wasn't 100% honest either. I can't wait to read part 2. The story flowed well and was well-written.
I have to give the book 4 stars because it made me so anxious to read the second book. I felt that Kai was very gullible in this book. If I could see what Alana was up to, why couldn't Kai? I was happy for Raymond's progress until he dropped the bomb on Kai at the end. I hope that story is elaborated on in book two or three. Mila is a wicked sister, I didn't care for her and don't feel sorry for her. I love Simone's character. Great book!!!
Kai has been through some hard times coming up. To find out her nightmares was because of her brother is the ultimate betrayal. I couldn't stand that Alana. I knew early on that something was up between her and Todd. Kai thought the same thing; she just couldn't prove it. The shit hit the fan in the end though! I can't wait to read the other two books in this series!
This book started off going in one direction. Spun around and went into another direction and left me wanting to know more! I will definitely be purchasing the second book to read the NEW third edition to the story. Great story line! A lot of important messages in the story for women of culture!
Very slow start. I almost stopped reading but I continued and I'm glad I did. The author just included too many irrelevant details and the book didn't take a turn until about chapter 14. But when it did, I couldn't put it down. Just know I dislike Alana very much. Reading Part 2 now and is starting off slow too but starting to get good.
This book started slow for me but after a while, I got more into it. Even though I could see where it was going, it kept me intrigued towards the end. Both Kai and Todd were gullible and I got so annoyed with Kai that I almost just stopped reading it. There were a couple twists that I wasn't expecting, though, and I look forward to reading 'Kai's Aftermath' to see how things continue.
