Rate this book
Katy Cox is about to regret going to work. As a nurse, it's her job to tend the sick and dying - She won't abandon her post. Not in a time of crisis. But when the dead won't stay dead... How long can her hospital hold out? As the city falls, casualties rise. Forced out of her comfort zone and into danger, Katy is confronted by a devious new undead - And must figure out what's more important... Her duty, or her family? Praise for "The next book in a great series." "...storyline and writing really got a hold of me..." "I like to know the "whys" and this book is delivering!" “Tonnes of action, tonnes of zombies”, “with a good cast of characters” - the second Suburban Dead novel, Emergency, is told from the perspective of a nurse at the struggling County General Hospital, as she delves deeper into the nature of the undead infection. Aided by her awkward ex-girlfriend, a foreign copper and an increasingly ragtag band of soldiers, Katy is about to make some disturbing revelations. Set in a world not unlike our own, Emergency is packed full of ghoulish horrors, thrilling scenes and creeping dread.

Alexandria Sorsby was born in Sheffield, Yorkshire, and put themselves on a diet of movies, television and video games, before being squeezed through a filter of music festivals. They list their favourite authors as Sir Terry Pratchett and Jim Butcher, with influences from all over sci-fi and fantasy.

Left Behind was the product of a several years of re-drafts and re-writes passed back and forth amongst friends and family. They considered publishing it on Amazon to be like kicking out a friend whose been sleeping on your sofa for years and telling them to get a job. It was never intended to become a series, but when The Suburban Dead spawned two sequels and still has plans for future stories, it was as if the sofa-surfer really turned their life around.

A fourth Suburban Dead novel and the first in a new fantasy series are in the works, and will probably be done before George R.R. Martin's next release.

What a great second installment!

I have to say though, I was thrown for a loop right in the beginning and was a bit disappointed, you'll find out why when you read Emergency, but I was very soon sucked into the book.

Emergency did have a few very interesting plot twists that I think are totally awesome. I think those twists will be expanded on as the series continues, and I for one, simply can't wait to see how they unfold!!!

An excellent and engaging read, Emergency is a must read for any horror/zombie fans!!!

P.S.
I hope everyone that reads and enjoys this book as much as I have will please leave a review, even if it's just an 'awesome' or 'great book'. I have recently discovered just how much, our reviews, i.e. the readers' reviews, means to the authors.

Wow, Wow and Wow.

I was initially disappointed because the beginning wasn't what I thought it would be, but, give it a few pages and this author works her magic yet again. We get to know our characters in a way that I haven't in any other book I have read. The ones I didn't like, you will know who when you start reading, I really began to think a lot of them and by the end I adored them. I feel I have a relationship with them and it grows as the story unfolds. It is gory and scary and all the time reading is spent with me saying, please don't let anything happen to her, him or them…My husband thinks I'm talking to him…I feel that the first two books are different to any I have read before. Follow the characters on their long and arduous journey and I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. A fantastic read and I highly recommend it.

After wondering what happened to Kelly's fiance Katy, I'm glad to get to read Emergency, Sorsby's second book in the Suburban Dead series. I'm glad he told this book from Katy's viewpoint even though there were times I was very mad at her I also understood her ethical and moral dilemma. No spoilers I promise. Just as the first book gave us insight into Kelly's thinking and his many debates, this book does the same Katy. I appreciated how Sorsby went into the more medical and military aspects of fighting and encountering the zombies, runners, screamers, and ghouls. He also gives some theories without stating they are facts...as it is too early in the Apocalypse to know anything for certain. I love the way he gives us enough information and background about most of the main characters that even if you don't particularly like them you still understand them. This book focuses on the medical teams and the fighting groups that are forced together during this horrible time. I know that other reviews have often said they liked one book over the other but I can't do that since they are so different while being in the same time and world. The woman in me wants to be mad at Katy for some of her choices but the moral and ethical part of me understands her choices. Can't wait for the third book. Read the world that combines so many of the folklore behind zombies and brings them together for a major nightmare.

I thought the first book in the series was brilliant however this one delivers on the first and then some more.

The focus shifts to characters who were mentioned in book 1, some only in passing~that link between the two books is one of the things I love about this series.

I found this instalment to be intense, action packed and informative. It reveals answers to some questions from the previous book.

We encounter more “ghouls” who are just as terrifying, if not more than the “ghouls” from book 1.

I have high hopes that there will be a 3rd book and if there is~I will definitely read it.

Kathy's story

This second book in the series picks up Katy just as the poop is hitting the fan. She is a dedicated professional, takes her medical oath very seriously...even when it means not following her heart.
Emergency certainly didn't disappoint. I'm looking forward to reading the final ook in this series - "Reunion".

Wow. I thought Katy’s story might be a bit ho-hum, but it wasn’t. The first book was great and this one was even better.

Another great book in the series. I didn't feel quite so emotionally involved with the characters, but the story was still amazing. More was learnt about the undead and there was plenty of action.
