Mercy Hills Pack #1-3

Mercy Hills Pack Bundle: Books 1-3 plus Extras

Rate this book
Come explore the world of Mercy Hills and the lives of the shifters who live among us. Watch as they struggle against oppression and prejudice, yet still find their way to love and happiness and strange new friendships within the walled enclaves that make up their home. This bundle contains the first three books of the epic urban fantasy series, and four never-before-seen bonus stories that explore life both inside and outside the enclaves.

Mating the Omega: Jason's been in hiding for years from the rumors that he's a True Omega, until he just can't hide anymore. But in Mercy Hills, he finds an alpha from whom he never needs to hide again. Problem is, it's not the one he came to Mercy Hills to mate.

Abel's Omega: Abel would like to find a mate, but a pack’s Alpha with a business on the side has no time for romance. Until a frantic omega with four young pups lands on the pack’s doorstep, desperate for help, and Abel suddenly discovers that he’d only been waiting for the right omega to come along.

Duke's Baby Deal: Bram's got a crush on Duke, but none of his usual techniques to make an alpha jealous are working. Duke's got a crush on Bram, but thinks Bram wouldn't be interested in a quiet, boring alpha. Until one full moon when another suitor comes calling, and leaves Bram in a life-shattering mess. Duke steps in to salvage Bram's reputation and be a father to another alpha's pups, but what looks like a sacrifice to both of them in the beginning swiftly becomes a gift that neither could have anticipated.

Over 300,000 words of drama, love, danger, and near misses, plus adorable pups and a culture that stretches back centuries. Indulge yourself in the political intrigue and complicated relationships between the different packs, and the dangerous ones with the humans, all in a dystopian urban fantasy setting.

5 stars!

I’m a huge Mercy Hills fan and it’s definitely no hardship to reread the books. I figured I needed to anyway, in anticipation of the new book that should be released SOON! But this was great in that there were extras! So I’m really happy about that. I am completely intrigued about this Noel character from the Canadian pack. I hope we finally have him appear in Mercy Hills because I think he’s got something going on!

First three books down, and it has been even better than I expected. Each book has been getting angstier, and my angst loving heart has been love it. I love how Ann-Kartin has set the world, and the shifter culture, and their relationship with the humans around them it has been really cool

I loved all the books, I loved all the extras. I love the world, the characters, the political climate, the variety. I know I said so in previous reviews in this series, but I haven't been as absorbed in a series for quite a while. I am itching for an update over when the next book is coming. Not knowing anything is fraying my nerves. I need to know! I need more! Will we see more of the coming end than the little snippet of Cale's book in Ann-Katrin's website?
Answers unknown. And I shall certainly angst over it.

I really enjoyed this series every time I've read it. Felix's story is my favorite one though. I really enjoyed the extra The Warrior. I think that Holland is freaking amazing, so, it was really great to see what happened there.

Omegas rule

I'm this Mercy Hills Pack bundle we learn that omegas rule! It doesn't matter if they are the overlooked or overworked, they can tame the most reluctant Alpha. Great reading!

I love a bundle

It was nice to have the stories all in one place, and the extras were really nice to read to get another look at the world.

Once when I was running, from all that haunted me;

To the dark I was succumbing, to what hurt unbearably. Searching for the one thing, that would set my sad soul free. In time I stumbled upon it, an inner calm and peace; and now I am beginning, to see and to believe, in who I am becoming and all I've yet to be. ~Lang Leav~
This bundle pack was amazing!!! I enjoyed every one of these books, the stories had so much intensity to them. From all of the emotional issues, plot and political issues. This whole series just steals your mind and traps you into the world of shifters, Alphas and Omegas. Some of these stories were tough to listen to, they hit on some pretty hard topics but the resolve was crafted beautifully. I want to break down each book and talk a little bit about them: Book 1 - Jason & Mac ~ This was an intense read, my heart was with Jason through this entire book. I felt so bad for him and his dad, always on the run trying to protect him and keep him safe from a crazy pack that was just focused on power and not the omega as a human being. Jason really didn't have it easy even when he met Mac, there was always the issue of his old pack in the back of his mind and it never truly felt like he was settled or 100% safe. Especially since they wouldn't sign the mating agreement. Mac had a smaller role in this story since it mainly focused on Jason and the possibility of him becoming a mate to Abel instead, so I felt like Mac was a filler or background character. Nothing bad about that just bigger tings to focus on in the book then their love story. Book 2 - Abel & Bax ~ These two stole the show for me. I love Bax with all of my heart & soul. The strength of him and how he persevered through all of the challenges and just kept holding on to hope even after everything. Also, his plan to leave his old pack was absolutely brilliant. He was such a smart cookie! He was also a perfect match for Abel and their love story was a slow burning romance which I loved. Abel had to get behind the fact of having a mate in the first place since he had insecurities about being able to handle a pack along with a mate and all of the other responsibilities. But Bax was like a sturdy mountain just supporting Abel and staying a quiet strength through everything. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!! Book 3 - Bram & Duke ~ This book was a bit of a miss for me. I really wish there was a trigger warning!!! Bram was involved in a non-consensual mating. I guess it could be viewed as a consent/non-consent situation but to me when Bram said no, ran to the door and the Alpha still took advantage of him, I would say that's rape. So after that this whole story gave me a very yuk feeling when it came to Bram & Duke's relationship. I enjoyed the rest of the plot and the other characters but I'm happy book 3 was part of this bundle since I wouldn't have enjoyed purchasing this book on it's own. However, overall it was still a great bundle and the first two books overshadow the last one by a landslide.
Also, Nick J. Russo did a phenomenal job narrating! It was so good. I loved all of the different voices he did for the characters.

I finished Book 1

This is a world where "omega" shifters are slaves. Shifters are already second class citizens, squished into "enclaves" like Jewish ghettos in Nazi Europe, and forced to wear identification if they leave it. Book 1 isn't really a romance so much as a meditation on oppression. The omega character is a spunky guy willing to take charge of his situation in any way he can. The alpha is a boring nice guy.

I liked that the "alpha" didn't end up being the Alpha of the pack. The romance part was fine. Then there was a courtroom drama, which isn't really my thing, followed by a little action and an Epilogue that went on forever and didn't answer any questions.

Three stars for being a bit boring.

Book 2 starts with forced marriage. I stopped reading when they threatened to take the omega's kids away because his alpha died without naming a guardian.

I like shifters, and I like MM, so I tolerate the male pregnancy thing. I don't mind if guys who give birth are treated like women were a century ago too much. It gives authors a chance to do the whole Cinderella thing without gender politics, but the fewer rights they have, the more it bugs me. No rights is just depressing.

If you like reading about disenfranchised, abused, hunted people finding true love and a home, you might like this series more than I did.

True Omegas, hot alphas, and baby shifters galore!

This is the way to read this wonderful series... All in one place. Welcome to the world of the Mercy Hills Pack. Here, wolf shifters in the USA, have been forced to live in walled Enclaves; locked down with a curfew. This saga follows three couples on their journeys to HEA. They will have to battle backward tradition, prejudice, abusive alphaholes, and greedy, opportunistic packs. But there are also strong, stubborn, feisty omegas, forward looking, protective, hot alphas, and a pack that will fight for those who belong to them. You will fall in love with this series.
While class injustice for omegas is a major theme, it is not overbearing, but is treated in a way that is both heart-warming and fierce. Oh, the heat factor is off the charts! The babies are adorable. And the "bad guys" get what's coming to them.
This was a new author for me. I am very glad I took a chance on her. And this bundle was the perfect way to do it. Do yourself a favor and get this bundle. Now.
This book contains adult themes and language, mm sex and is intended for mature readers only.

This is a series re-read.
I have read this series a few times and am always drawn back for the same reasons. There are several reasons, but the main one is that in Ann-Katrin Byrde's stories, the shapeshifters are not just humans who can shift shape - they are not human and she lays out careful details that outline those basic differences. They can not interbreed and their behaviors and reactions are 'other.'
There is also the fact that the characters are well-rounded and individual, the separate plots are interesting and varied, yet they meld into an overarching plot that is compelling, and finally, the context and world-building is complete and detailed.
The writing flows so well that editing errors, while noticed, do not interrupt.
Heads up - if you prefer HEA stories or low angst, if details and developing a storyline step by step annoy you, if you just want a quick read with flowers, romance, and sex - these are not the stories for you. This review will be posted for all three bundles as I did not feel like posting for 7 novels and 3 short story collections. If you are interested - the short stories and novels are all in the bundles.

Mating the Omega was the first book that I read by Ann-Katrin Byrde, and I then made short order of the others in this series that were published at that time. The writing is always 5 stars.

This audio book bundle is a dream come true. The narration by Nick J. Russo is superb, with voices of recurring characters carried through from book to book with no faults. He easily brings stories and characters to life, from the sassiness of Jason to the maturity of Bax to the youth of Bram. And that is just the omegas. It is lovely listening to Bram mature throughout Duke's Baby Deal.

I enjoyed revisiting the theme of "True Omegas" which is carries on throughout all the books. I know I will carry on re-reading the second bundle even though the audio book isn't yet out. The extras after each book make this bundle even better.

This first bundle introduces us to the enlightened Mercy Hills werewolf pack, which treat omega wolves with far more respect than other packs. In Mating The Omega, Jason breaks into Mercy Hills to seek refuge after years on the run from his previous pack. In Abel’s Omega, Bax seeks out Mercy Hills after his alpha dies. In Duke’s Baby Deal, Bram is rescued from disgrace after an alpha takes advantage of him. Each story showcases a pregnancy / birth, builds on the shifter world, describes the werewolf / human conflict, and champions feminist / minority rights. They are sweet, absorbing, and enjoyable. Although each book ends pretty abruptly, there are short stories in between that act like epilogues, and interesting overarching story arcs flow through the books. 🎧 Nick J Russo provides a great narrative performance in each book.

I had already listened to the first two books of this bundle separately and you can find those reviews under their title. I wanted to get the bonus material so now that the bundle was available I picked up and listened to the 3rd main story. Duke's Baby Deal is so much better than I expected. What could have been so bad and full of so much sacrifice turns out well for both men. I also like how the fun bonus story that gives us more peeks at the main characters from the main books. And the surprise bonus story at the end has left me wanted to know more about this group as well.

I listened to the Audible version and it was well done and a wonderful way to enjoy my morning walks.

3,5*

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:

5* - very very good and rare (it would be a Blow-
Away-book like
‘Jesse's Smile' or ‚Joey’ from Angelique Jurd,
‘Save the at he kids' series from EM Leya,
‘Love’s Tethered Heart’ from C.L. Etta or
'Liberty' from Seth King),
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often reread and is a
WOW-book with interesting plot and surprises
(like most of Andrew Grey’s books)
it's like an A

3,5* - a really good book, which will be reread a few
times a year (most romances where you can
enjoy for relaxing and during waiting times in
hospitals). I can recommend them definitively!
It's like an B+

3* - it could be more then a one-time-reader,
maybe 2-3 times a year. It’s like a B

2* - it was ok to read, but it's more a one-time-
reader (i wouldn't recommend it heartily, but
it was ok). It's like a C-, D

1* - sorry, but that isn't really a book for me (too
many mistakes, not nice plot, illogical, so an
absolut NO-GO). It's like failure in the whole
line, dismissed, repeat the class

Wonderful extras!

This review is for the four short-story extras, since I've already reviewed the books themselves and they're among my most favorite favorites. The new stories are sweet and fun, giving us a glimpse of the characters' lives as they and their children grow. The last story was interesting in letting us see how shifters live outside the US, free from enclaves, collar tabs and the like. As an audio book lover, I hope someday to be able to buy a short story collection on audio. Of course, that means we need more stories!
