"Bitten by the King" is the fourth book in the Virgin Blood series, and just like the others it is a quick, sexy read. I have really enjoyed Alexa Riley's world of vampires....I know this is the first time they have written about vampires; and I really hope it won't be their last! I enjoyed the unique vampire world they created, and loved the mates that each vampire found to fulfill their lives.
I am always pleasantly surprised by how easily these two authors are able to make an interesting enough story in such a short book. These stories I save for when I am in the mood for a fast and low angst read. I am glad that I have their stories on my book shelf, and I look forward to more from Alexa Riley!
This was my most anticipated book of the series and unfortunately my least favorite. I liked it, but the fact they never are actually together until 50% and no epilogue at all (for any of the stories) just was a let down for me :( I sure hope there ends up being another installment soon.
-no cheating -no ow/om drama -no pushing away -no violence of a sexual nature -zero epilogue
Although highly anticipated, I thought that the last book of the series was unfortunately anticlimactic. There was no epilogue and not much interaction between the two main characters, i.e. Bishop and Loren. The ending felt more like HFN and not HEA, while a new character appeared almost in the end and saved the day. I suppose Grim Reaper will also get his book and his mate.
As an overall experience, this series was a pleasant surprise. Alexa Riley can definitely write smutty PNR and I would love to read more interesting stories in the future that include other paranormal beings. Could I place a request for a future series about Fairies?
I was really looking forward to this book. And maybe that was the problem, my expectations were just too high.
Ultimately this book turned out to be a bit of a disappointment. It’s over so quickly, there’s little to no drama and yet again no epilogue. It’s the same as the others just less. We’re also introduced to a new character. Which is good right? No. Not in this case because the story is only available on a podcast!
I'm a bit sad, that's the end of the series. But I'm glad that Bishop finally got his HEA. I was mostly curious about his story. Bishop was mysterious leader and he was close to his death, if he didn't find his mate soon. So, yeah, I wanted to know more about him. So, this final book almost answers all questions for me. I say almost, because there was at least one I'm still feel clueless about. It may be me focusing too much on details once again, or maybe this may be one of the time when villain have no real reason for things they do. In all this was great book. Actually, whole series. And I hope Alexa will have more vampires in near future for us.
'Bitten by the King' is the story of Loren and Bishop. King of Vampires Bishop finally finds his mate Loren as he is approaching the end of his life, but she turns out to be the "daughter" of his greatest enemy. Well, she is rescued from her unscrupulous father and goons right on to Bishop's breed worthy dick. Mild drama, sweet sex and HEA. I'm sad that I won't be able to read about Grim Reaper as the podcast is not available in my country. Safe 3/5
Spanish : Final de esta serie de vampiros y en cierto modo se parece al segundo libro. Este libro se centra en Bishop el patriarca del clan de vampiros. Consta de muchos detalles en cuanto a la vida de los protagonistas y tiene buen contenido. ⚜Rate : ★★★✩✩
English : End of this series of vampires and in a way it looks like the second book. This book focuses on Bishop the patriarch of the Vampire clan. It has many details about the life of the protagonists and has good content. ⚜Rate : ★★★✩✩
I enjoyed reading this story. The end is here. Loren doesn't understand why her father is treating her the way he is now. He has her locked in her room after questioning him about the picture of Gordon, her and Bishop. Bishop is now feeling weak, everything feels so far away and exhaustion with even the smallest attempted movement. He hears his name being called but is unable to answer. A blackness forms and he see violet eyes he's been seeing in his dreams. Has he reached the end of his life? Is all hope of finding his mate in time to save him gone? All he needs is a scent of her to save him.
Me gustó, obviamente. Todo lo que escriben estas mujeres es genial! Pero me niego a pensar que no van a escribir la historia de Grim! Osea, lo dejáis todo interesante y no he visto yo continuación de la saga que incluya al hombre. Me indigno! Jajajaja El libro como siempre de los buenos para pasar el rato!
Impressive ending to the Virgin Blood series! The maker, Bishop and pure Loren's story was exciting and worth the wait!
It was very interesting how the story finally revealed how evil Gordon intended to keep his supposedly daughter, Loren away from her mate and his enemy, Bishop Thorin. Yet through it all, vicious Gordon connected with the Grim Reaper of all people saying that his mate awaited him with Bishop. Glad that Bishop was able to understand the reaper's darkness and relate to him on that level.
This is the fourth book in the Virgin Blood series by Alexa Riley. I’m not really a big fan of vampire books but when I saw AR had one coming out I knew I had to give it a try. I have to say they did not disappoint and they did a really good job. I was anxious waiting for Bishop’s book because from the first book I was intrigued by him and wanted to see him find his mate. My only complaint is I don’t like it in a book when the h is a virgin and the H pops her cherry with his fingers. To me that is just a waste and it takes the intimacy out of the act all together. It also pissed me off on Bishop’s behalf that he was a vampire searching for his mate for 180 years before she was even born. Loren River is twenty years old, she’s spent her whole life locked up and hidden away from the world. Gordon, her father claims he keeps her hidden away to keep her safe from the man who killed her mother (Bishop). Loren sees Dove being brought to her dad’s office and can see she does not want to be there. While her dad is sleeping she goes to his office and finds Dove still there and the room is a mess because Dove tossed it. Loren shows Dove the way out and tells her what to do when she gets outside to escape the property. Dove tries to persuade Loren to leave with her but Loren refuses so Dove leaves her with these parting words ; “You’ve been standing next to evil this whole time and you thought you were standing in the light.” Those words taunt Loren as she starts to think maybe her father is not the man she thought he was. When Dove sees Bishop’s paintings she asks him why he’s painted Gordon’s daughter. Ever since Bishop Thorin was turned into a vampire almost two hundred years ago he dreams about the same beautiful, red-headed woman with violet eyes. He has spent most of his after-life trying to find this woman convinced she is his mate. Vampires who don’t find their true mate only live for two hundred years otherwise they can live off their mate’s venom forever. Bishop faints after hearing Dove say his dream woman is actually Gordon River’s daughter. He slips in and out of consciousness for a few days worrying all of his family members and Bishop knows his time is coming to an end. His family is not ready to lose him yet so they start coming up with a plan to snatch Loren if she is Bishop’s mate then he needs her to continue living.
I waited so long for this book, and it was not at all as good as I expected. It was just lacking something. I like all the characters, but this book wasn't put together well. It felt rushed, and the ending was really odd. I don't penalize books in rating them based on length, but in this case, this one needed to be longer or written differently in order to express everything properly. It was scrunched and weird. All of the books in this series were but it was tolerable before this one.
I am also upset that Grim's story is going to be on the podcast. Is it not going to be an actual book? Some people don't like audiobooks or have podcast capability. I am subscribed to the podcast, but I don't like audiobooks. I need the words in front of me. And while I think the podcast is cool, it's upsetting that I'll miss out on the actual books. I was really intrigued by Grim, though his appearance was surprising and weird, and was hoping he'd get a story. Then I saw it would be on the podcast, and I was disappointed. I really hope these podcast books get published in regular book form after the podcasts.
Wow...I am disappointed. Was so excited for this book but turned out to be the weakest. And shortest it seemed. Bishop and Loren were separated for most of the book. Yet once they meet, it's just so easy and rushed. I expected more fireworks and more fight I guess? Loren was sweet and pliable and I dunno. I wanted more sass. But I suppose that's not what the authors were aiming for with her character.
I was also waiting in vain for this ferocious alpha leader Bishop to just snap. And go all crazy and claim his mate. But Bishop seemed so tamed and a complete gentlemen. Which was nice but eh. He was the oldest and on the brink of dying. I wanted and needed more savagery to be unleashed. Hell, Valen and even the evil guard Greg triggered a more visceral reaction in me.
As for Gordon. Some badass villain he turned out to be. Blink and he was easily decimated. Even the showdown between him and Bishop was lackluster and just too simple. I wanted more bloodshed. And now... sigh. A new character is introduced but I kinda am just meh.
I really need more apeshit crazy alphas so going back in my cave until then.
"If a vampire is lucky enough to find his mate, then his soul belongs to her. The woman who will save him will be his everything."
Bitten By the King by Alexa Riley is book 4 in the sizzling paranormal romance series "Virgin Blood". Loren has lived her entire life locked up in her home for as long as she could remember. Loren feels like she's a prisoner in her home and she sort of wishes her Prince would take her away from this drudgery kind of life- I remember reading and thinking same thing. So who could save this beautiful Princess but a vampire Prince Charming to named Bishop. Their love story is unconventional, unique and exciting. Loren and Bishop had this red-hot connection way before meeting that involved dreams. They truly were fated mates. Yet forces were determined that they weren't to be together-never. Just know that this one fast paced action packed short story, with angst, drama, and passion that will send your Kindle to smoking while your glued to the screen, determined to find out the answers that have abounded and remained unanswered, also while wanting to make sure Loren finally gets all the answers she deserves and that her and Bishop get their well deserved HEA. OH MY, yes, this was a freaking fantastic ending to one awesome paranormal romance series that has some great campires. I hope this isnt the last we'll see of vampires (hint hint). The ending had me in gasps -what a deliciously great way to end Virgin Blood.
Loren has lived her whole life locked up as a prisoner in her home for as long as she could remember. Loren kind of reminded me of a vampire princess waiting for her Prince Charming to come and rescue her. Bishop has lived so many years thinking he would never find his mate. His character was the best because he loved all of his vampire family and he was pained with thought of leaving them. I have to say this story was a nice conclusion to this series. We had some twist that I didn’t see coming and I loved the way everything unfolded. I loved the ending and excited that there be one more book as well!
The conclusion to the amazing "Virgin Blood" series was absolutely amazing!! I loved Bishop and Loren. I loved their story and how Bishop has dreamed of her for years.(literally hundreds of year's lol) Bishop is on his death bed and finally he hears that his mate his one true love is closer than he could have ever imagined. He does everything in his power to save her from his worst enemy! Loren doesn't understand much except that her dad has lied to her and maybe he isn't the good guy after all. When Bishop comes to save her she doesn't hesitate to go with him. She feels the undeniably connection between them! She knows he would never lie to her or hurt her like her father has. Once together nothing can stop the feelings that they Share to finally connect them as one! It Getting to see them finally come together was so wonderful!! They are meant to be and you can feel it in every page! I love Bishop and Loren and this whole vampire family! They are all so sexy and so in love!!! I am so happy I read this series!! It was so amazing!!
What a great ending to a fantastic series!!!! Bishop and Loren’s paths were always meant to be!!!! Their connection was happening before she was even born. Great story but that’s what you can expect from AR!!!!
The ladies nailed it. I loved their take on the Vampire genre. I
Bishop is the last of his family to find his mate. He's dreamed of her all his life and he knows she is out there.
Loren has been hidden away from the world. Her father Gordon or who she has always known as her father has made it so. She is a pawn in his sick and twisted mind. He know's she is meant for Bishop and he has kept her hidden from him.
But when these two finally meet you can expect explosions! No really there are. But it's off the charts hot and steamy factor is 10+.
A quick and dirty read. And a great conclusion to this series.
This is the fourth and final book (or is it?) of the vampire series, "VIRGIN BLOOD" by the incredible author, Alexa Riley and I'm both sad and happy about reading this final story. Here are some of the reasons, everyone gets to have their well-deserved happily ever after with their fated mates and evil forces are vanquished for all eternity, leaving each mated pair to live without having to look out for enemies (even though there will always be someone or something but as a united family/friends, they'll always have each other's back).
Bishop is the oldest of the clan; Kane, Ravana, and the twin brothers, Ezra and Eric and Bishop is almost two hundred years old. They say if you don't find your fated mate before you reach two hundred years of age, then you turn crazy and must be put down. When I read this part, I was like, "AR FIND BISHOP HIS MATE ALREADY!!"
I felt for him because he got to see everyone meet his fated mate except him and he probably thought he would never find her, but boy did fate have a surprise for him, for Dove, who's Ezra and Eric's shared fated mate, knew of Loren but who knew that was Bishop's mate and salvation. Now, Loren hasn't had it easy either. She's adopted by a man, her "father" who doesn't show any interest nor affection towards her and she doesn't understand why he adopted her in the first place... seems destiny has its twists/turns, surprises for everyone and Loren was special; she was destined to be with Bishop <3
Let's be real, not everything is all they're instant together, nope. They both have obstacles to overcome, a bad guy to battle and someone who appears and surprises us all with who it is and I hope we get his story too!!
This was an excellent story, once again, the author, Alexa Riley blew my mind and my ovaries ;)
