Rogue witches. Halloween Pranks. Dead body. A hellmouth at the four-way between Main Street and Bliss. For Police Chief Haze Kinsey, it's just another day in Paradise Falls.
In the paranormal town of Paradise Falls, witch Hazel Kinsey is settling into her new job as police chief and as the mate of hunky werebear Ford Baylor.
Unfortunately, Halloween in Paradise Falls means enduring yet another year of prank wars between the witches and the Shifters. She must tolerate the annoying shenanigans until one trick turns out to be a real killer.
Now Hazel has to solve the murder, protect her mate from rampant clown attacks, host a Halloween party for her squirrel familiar, and oh yeah, shut down the hellmouth that’s appeared in the middle of town.
About Renee: USA Today Bestselling author Renee George writes paranormal mysteries and romances because she loves all things whodunit, Otherworldly, and weird. Also, she wishes her pittie, the adorable Kona Princess Warrior, and her beagle, Josie the Incontinent Princess, could talk. Or at least be more like Scooby-Doo and help her unmask villains at the haunted house up the street.
When she’s not writing about mystery-solving werecougars or the adventures of a hapless psychic living among shapeshifters, she is preyed upon by stray kittens who end up living in her house because she can't say no to those sweet, furry faces. (Someone stop telling them where she lives!)
She resides in Mid-Missouri with her family and spends her non-writing time doing really cool stuff...like watching TV and cleaning up dog poop.
Author Note: For readers who have enjoyed reading my books and taken the time to share their love in reviews, thank you so much! I can't tell you how much it means to me to know my work is valued.
Witches and Shifters and Halloween. Hazel and Ford must figure out who left a hellmouth in the middle of town and what's behind the clowns that keep showing up to scare Ford. Interesting characters and a quirky plot.
I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest Loved the book! Being a sheriff in a supernatural town is not easy. Hazel is finding that out first hand. What more can go possibly wrong ? A lot it seems The characters + storytelling were very captivating It has all the ingredients that you need for an awesome book! I can't wait for the next book in the series!
This is the second book in the Witchin' Impossible series. Hazel and Ford are an established couple living together with Hazel's familiar Tizzy along for the ride. Hazel is now the police chief of Paradise Falls. Halloween is quickly approaching. In the midst of the annual prank war, a large pit opens in the middle of main street and the witches' powers start going haywire. Riley and company need to find out what is going on before the town is destroyed. Main characters Hazel and Ford are fantastic. Hazel is a strong woman. Despite being an alpha werebear, Ford is comfortable with Hazel's strength and accepts her as his boss without feeling a threat to his masculinity. Riley's familiar Tizzy continues to provide humorous dialog. Riley's interactions with another witches cat familiar are hilarious. I highly recommend this book and series. I can't wait to see what Renee has in store next for Hazel, Ford and company!
Der zweite Teil der "Witchin Impossible" Serie. War auch noch ok, aber schon sehr absurd. (in Teil 3 habe ich kurz rein gelesen und dann beschlossen, diese Serie nicht zu beenden...)
Another quick and fun read about Hazel, Tiz, her mate Ford and the other crazies that live in Paradise Falls. Really love Haze's snarky personality and Tiz is absolutely hysterical!
A good read. Okay it could have done with a few more laughs but the plot was a good idea although the ending wasn't quite to the standard of the build up. Yes it was dramatic to a point but the explanation about the four could have been done in greater detail and where did they go? The characters are brilliant especially Tizzy and her new romance. Loved it! When her attempt to magically heat her coffee end up causing something similar to a nuclear reaction, she has to call her father for help. Once things get under control she's told that Main Street has a problem. A problem of what looks to be a gate of hell. A truck has already been swallowed up by it and things get worse when someone tries to use magic. Magic which misfires and causes the gate to grow. Evacuation seems the only option. But when a set of legs are found the police immediately cordon off the area. But they prove to be a proper. Add in ghosts of the original 4 founder witches who died when their coven wove the spell to create the town, a mad clown, Lilley suddenly getting a witch power, more fake legs, murder and having to call her Grandmother for help. Can they find out who summoned the ghosts? Why? Can they send them back? What price will they pay to do so? Why is her father so friendly with the ME? Will the town accept Lily's new power?
Taking place a several months after the conclusion of the first book, Rogue Coven opens with the annual Halloween prank war between the witches and shifters. Hazel, now chief of police, has made a home for herself and her familiar Tizzy, with her true mate Ford. When a large sinkhole opens in the center of town, Hazel is tasked with figuring out if it’s a prank gone wrong or something worse.
Hazel seems to have settled into her new life and role as police chief; however, there are still those who were friends of Adele who don’t trust or like Hazel, accusing her of murdering the evil witch. I like that things aren’t perfectly smooth sailing for Hazel, who still hasn’t made progress on improving her spell casting. The perky heroine needs her flaws to keep the character grounded and relatable.
The mystery of the rather large hole, which is messing with the witches’ magic, isn’t lengthy or difficult to solve, but I enjoyed watching Hazel gather her team and follow the clues. The mystery also allows George to develop a backstory regarding the founding of the magical Paradise Falls. This also brings important news about Hazel’s BFF Lily, which adds some light emotional conflict for Hazel.
I am really enjoying the Witchin’ Impossible Cozy Mysteries series so far. The stories are quick and fun, with romance, humor, and a bit of action.
Rogue Coven: Witchin’ Impossible Cozy Mysteries Book 2 Author: Renee George
“In the paranormal town of Paradise Falls, witch Hazel Kinsey is settling into her new job as police chief and as the mate of hunky werebear Ford Baylor. Unfortunately, Halloween in Paradise Falls means enduring yet another year of prank wars between the witches and the Shifters.” Oh, and possibly dead bodies. Especially when someone accidentally opens a hellmouth in their town. Hazel has the most amazing familiar - Tizzy the LGBTQ squirrel who loves mischief. And, she’s absolutely adorable. The Halloween pranks that the witches and shifters compete over are great fun, as is Ford’s reaction to a few of them. Again, this book was great fun, and I loved it. It also leads into Pit Perfect.
I really love the characters in this book. All of them are well-developed and interesting. The author does a great job with world building. There aren't many errors in this book, there are more than in the first book but I've seen worse.
In this story, the "mystery" is interesting.
The chemistry between Hazel and Ford is hot as heck. They make a great team. Although I could do without some of the descriptions "love log"? Seriously?!?! LOL
I love that Hazel is a capable woman. I believe she's in her mid-30's and acts like it. What a refreshing change from so many of these cozy mysteries. Also, she has every reason to be involved in murders and mysteries because she's the police chief!
I won't be reading book 3 in this series because I didn't care for the description. Hazel having her witch powers removed by the some familiars council seems ridiculous. They shouldn't have power over witches. Then she loses the mating scent with Ford? Pass. The book seems like the author created drama just to have drama.
Shame because I really enjoyed these books but I'm happy ending it with this one. The ending was like a pretty bow wrapping up a perfect little present.
This story has an imaginative plot but is ill served by subpar editing (grammar, structure, AND flow). The mystery surrounding the death is handled well, as is the set-up for the departure of one character, and main character Hazel is more likeable; unfortunately, Tizzy is less charming, a bit more detail surrounding the four would have been helpful, and the relationship dynamics are puzzling. What is Hazel's issue with her father? Why is the Grand Inquisitor more solicitous to Lily than to her own son and granddaughter? Why is Hazel harassed about her magic but no one helps? This book is a bit of a let down from the series opener but the series still has promise.
Fun, mischief, mystery, witch/shifter competition, and so much more. Then, of course, there is the adorable, downright ornery familiar Tizzy. Gotta love that little flying squirrel. There's trouble in Paradise Falls. Being almost Halloween in a town with a split population of shifters and witches, it is probably where the phrase double trouble was coined.
The fact that Hazel is the Police Chief when fun turns deadly, she has to find out who, what, where, and why. We continue the romance with Hazel and Ford with some other couples and go on a ride along to solve the mystery and save the town. It is one heck of a ride in a short, satisfying read. Thanks for another winner, Ms. George. I voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy and I have not been compensated in any way.
Magic and Mayhem: Witchin Impossible 2: Rogue Coven (Kindle Worlds Novella) (Witchin' Impossible Mysteries) by Renee George
More fun from Paradise Falls. Tizzy is always going to be my fav.
Mischief and Mayhem. Mystery and Competition. Throw in a zany squirrel and all the other inhabitants of Paradise Falls and Hazel has her work cut out for her.
Police Chief Hazel Kinsey was hoping for a quiet Halloween but that was not meant to be for a witch who hates Halloween. As pranks between the witches and shifters are in high demand as well as a dead body is thrown in the mix. It does not help her familiar Tizzy, wants to throw a Halloween party and decorate the place for the holiday.
Will she be able to survive the Halloween high jinks? Just another day in Paradise.
They're funny, but also endearing and aside from the paranormal remind me of growing up.
When a tar pit opens in town and magic seems to go wonky, Hazel and gang have a lot to do to figure it out while solving a mysterious death. Are shifters and witches Halloween competitiveness getting out of hand or is it something else?
With this story, we learn when Lily leaves and gets her own series. Going to miss her here but love her series.
What a wonderful book. Hazel is the chief of Paradise Falls. Her sexy boyfriend Ford works along side her. Halloween is approaching and dead bodies are on the rise. Not to mention a black hole in the middle of town. Can Hazel find out the truth before they all are swallowed up?
Witch and were best solve the mystery of Hellhole.
I enjoyed the mystery of the bubbling mess in the middle of Paradise Falls. I love the characters who live in the town. however the editing needs to be improved. Or the author needs to improve her use of English. The word formative needs to be substituted for formidable. As in formative years.
When a hell mouth opens up in the center of town it’s up to one klutzy witch, a bear shifter, a werecougar , and a small but mighty flying squirrel familiar to stop hell from coming through. In a town full of secrets will they figure out who and why before hell literally comes to town?
The book didn't flow smoothly. Also I didn't care for the main characters. Ford was too much of a hothead, and Hazel was vindictive. I quit reading about halfway through the book. I kept falling 😴 while reading the book. I finally gave up on it getting any better. Also the made up words were very distracting.
Pretty good book. I really enjoy it. I like how competent Hazel is in her life and job. Recently read another series that put me at my wits end. Already started on the second book.
One thing I found strange in both books was how non plux people were when others died. It's like it's no big deal or nothing happened. I just find it so strange.
Loved the storyline and the characters which made it hard to put down so it's a well deserved five stars and I would recommend this book to everyone as i can't wait to read more in this series
Loved seeing more of Haze, Tizzy, Lily and Ford. Another interesting mystery that kept readers guessing. A surprise sweet ending ties this book up in a pretty little package.
Every book gets better and the participants get smarter. I just love tizzy to pieces and the big bear just keeps spoiling his wife. Sure seems like everyone is tenjoy!rying to make somebody happy.
It has been many years since I first discovered the world's of Robyn Petermann and Renee George. Love meeting these crazy folks with their wild personal and paranormal challenges and talents. Fun getting back to the furry and squirrelly roots
This story is about people who want more power at all costs. I love the characters. The story has plenty of action and mystery. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
If half the people in your town are witches and a Hellmouth suddenly opens causing all spells to misfire, what do you do? Call Hazel Kinsey of course. Her magic doesn't work so good at the best of times.
I absolutely enjoy this fast pace read. It's great to see the whole gang again and the other crazy peeps that live in Paradise Falls. This quick entertaining and fun read is filled with lots of suspense and mystery and we can't forget about Tizzy Hazel familiar with her sassy and feisty personality who always keeping Hazel on her toes which means there's never a dull moment when these two are together. I voluntarily read and review this ARC I haven't been compensated in any way.
Adorable as always. Hazel is the Police Chief in Paradise Falls. Halloween is a tough time with all the pranks. Then one is not, a murder happens. Short but wonderful.
