Rate this book
I’m an omega shifter, a “rare gem” in a world full of brutal alpha males vying for dominance and the right to claim me as their mate. My choice doesn’t matter. Not as an omega in a pack where tradition is the only law. I’ll have to watch the Trials and accept the victor as my mate.

Rowan, the cruel Alpha Lord’s son with eyes sharp as silver.

James, the hybrid outcast who desires revenge even more than power.

Mace, the cold and calculating doctor who banished my father from the pack.

And Christopher, my childhood friend and the only alpha who’s ever seen me as more than the key to power…at least, that’s what I thought, until he entered the Trials.

When war turns the tables on my four suitors, I’m the one calling the shots.

The Marok dynasty is at an end, and our pack has been given an ultimatum: embrace the far more civilized ways of our conquerors or face destruction.

Now, it’s up to me to save the pack and bring these four alpha males to heel. The choice is finally mine, but it’s harder than I ever imagined…

This is the first book in the Throne of Wolves series. Book 2, Court of Alphas, is coming soon! Readers 18+ only, series gets progressively steamier as it goes along.

The first chapter is interesting but everything falls flat afterwards. From the beginning, we're told that MC lives a borderline abusive life as the pack omega and wishes desperately for freedom. When she is finally liberated, suddenly she cares deeply for the people she despised and instead turns her hatred towards her liberators. The MC is annoying and the MLs have zero personality. Characters act like caricatures of their original presentations. Nothing makes sense, but at least there's proper grammar.

I tried... I realllllllly did. Dani is such a weak Leading Lady. I understand she is an Omega but plenty of Omega's have stepped up and still become strong Leading Ladies in their own right. She keeps saying she can't stand up for herself or put herself first or not be a brooding mare because she has a 'Duty to her Pack.' Newsflash your Pack doesn't care about you. Your family doesn't care about you.

Very little happened. They sniffed her... won't lie that was sexy. Then weeks passed. Then weeks passed. Then she went on some outings. Then weeks passed... holy crap something happen!

I'm on the fence about this story.
I felt like it was consistent with the characters personality.

Dani is an omega shifter, a "rare gem" in a world full of brutal alpha males.
Her job is to be submissive and obedient.
When her day comes to be claimed as a mate, her choice doesn't matter.
She is forced to watch as four men compete for the title as Alpha Lord and her mate.
However, it doesn't quite turn out the way it was planned.

Dani begins the story as hating how her society does things.
She hates the brutality.
Hates not being able to chose who she spends the rest of her life with.
When she was younger, she always dreamed of running away, but never followed through.
She basically became resigned to her fate, but still voiced her opinion on the matter.

When certain events take place, her life is turned around and she is now faced with the choice where she can chose who her mate will be.
As long as it is from the four who originally planned to fight to the death for her affection.
She reveals in the power she now has, but the choice isn't as easy as she thought it would be.
Each of the four, well three at least, show promising features that are admirable.

Once again, the tables are turned and the choice is taken from her.
Her "father" has basically sold her off to an outsider.
A man far older than her whose first mate was barren.
Now instead of her running away with her "mates," she stays out of some sense of duty and family blood bond.

It is this part of the book that I don't understand.
She had been a strong willed person throughout the entire book.
Doing what she knew was best for the pack and herself.
However, when faced with this scenario, she falls into the obedient Omega she is supposed to be.
It didn't seem logical.
I saw where it was necessary because she learns some valuable information when she stays, but I feel the information could have been learned another way.
IDK it just threw me off then.

Overall, it was a pleasant read.
I just didn't think some of the logistics of the plot line stayed true to their characters.

Imagine being such a prize that Alphas are fighting for the right to claim you but having no power to go with that exalted position? You are the key to power, but, in fact, completely irrelevant as a person and completely impotent when it comes to having any say over anything around you, including your own life.

This is the life that Dani has lived and would have continued living were it not for the sudden coup that saw the fortunes of her pack and the traditions that they live by (and bully by), change.
Suddenly, Dani is given the power to make a choice for herself and her pack and suddenly, she finds that the clear opinions that she had of the Alphas that were vying to claim her are not so clear any more. More importantly, Dani finally has a chance to be more than just the doormat that the pack expects her to be – and not everyone is happy with that kind of power in a lowly Omega’s hands. Gosh, some people are awful! Have you ever wanted to climb into a book and just kick people’s butts? Or just shoot them, coz, you know, it’s expedient?

This book is not only an introduction to the role-players and the politics that will be part of the books to come, but it also gives us a look into the dynamic between Dani (who, let me tell you, is never going to just show her stomach to anyone) and the men who grow more and more important to her as they go through the trials of life’s changes together. If you’re looking for a romance with a brave and smart heroine; dashing and dependable men; years old intrigue and mystery and brand-new battles to fight against dodgy, power-hungry mongrels (I don’t like bullies!) – then this is the book for you. I am chomping at the bit for Book 2!

Throne of Wolves is a thrilling and captivating story. This is a great start to a very promising series by River Ramsey that I am definitely looking forward to continuing.

Danica is an Omega, and in her pack that makes her little more than property to be admired and claimed. Just as she is about to be fought over for the chance of mating her, the pack is attacked and their alpha killed. Now under the control of Eternus, Dani's pack is fractured but she is given the power to chose. As the highest ranking female left in the pack, she can pick a mate who will become the alpha. With four alpha males to chose from, one of which was her best friend, another a man who she hates for betraying and banishing her father, Dani holds the fate of her pack in her hands. But when the return of her father brings even more change to her life, Dani will have to work with these alpha males to protect themselves and learn the truth about her life and uncover her father's plot to take over the packs and Eternus.

This book is a slower burn reverse harem story and by the end, Dani really only has a relationship with one of the guys but is growing closer to the others. I look forward to seeing their relationships develop in the next book.

River Ramsey has created an intriguing and unique world for Dani and her guys. This book was filled with twists that hooked me to the plot and eager for more. I can't wait to read the next book!

The concept of this story drew me in from the very get go. It was interesting to see a story where the fate rested on the shoulders of the Omega instead of an Alpha.

Dani's character arc was interesting to watch. To have an Omega who's personality fought against every stereotypical trait of an Omega was unique. She transforms from this woman who cages away her every urge and pretends to be the Omega she "should" be, to fully embracing her strong resilient side for the good of her people. Her people may not realize she is fighting for them, but she doesn't need their validation to do what is right.

The relationships she had with each of the men were intriguing, especially as she grew to know them more and understand who they truly were as Alphas and as men. I have to say the most enthralling connection to watch was the one with James, the hybrid outcast. He was such an enigma at the beginning and I couldn't look away as she peeled back his layers to discover the true man from the woods. Their connection felt the strongest to me and the most real. I can see the potential with her relationships with Christopher, Mace, and Rowan, but I haven't felt that connection yet. I look forward to seeing how their connections grow with Dani after everything that happened in the first book, especially with Mace and Rowan.

Dani lives in a dominating world she knows she doesn't quite fit into. But she's determined to keep her honor after everything she's been through. She feels like she has to do what the alpha dictates even though it's not what her heart wants. So she agrees to "date" her 4 contenders even though she has an array of emotions about it. I love how she tries to stick to what she feels is right, until she learns everything. Then she sticks to what she knows is right. And it's a hard road for her and the men involved but shes determined. She goes against every stereotype that's deemed for her role and finds her true strength. With the help of the men she finds that a role doesnt define you, but what you do does. I cant wait to see how the revelations she found out end up playing out in book two and how her relationship builds with the men.

It's a dark shifter world

River Ramsey has created a complex and dangerous shifter world that'll have you going through all the emotions! We struggle along with Dani, an omega with little to no say in her life within the pack, as she faces tragedy and deceit head on while almost everyone around her cares only for power and will do just about anything to gain it. Just when she gets a taste of freedom, it's ripped away from her once again, but that taste (and the very steamy men in her life) has her more determined than ever to leave her submissive role behind and embrace her real inner she-wolf. I am very much looking forward to seeing her become even stronger as the story develops. Just as much as I look forward to the next installment after the ending left me feeling a little bereft when it came far too soon!

I loved this book. When I first started it I was appalled at the way an Omega was treated. The pack’s ancient laws are so outdated and just wrong. I felt something was off from the beginning when she was talking about her father running away from the pack. I was tickled pink that she was going to choose her alpha. I loved getting to know each of the alphas. They were so much deeper and impressive than it appeared. Plus the excitement of the chase and finding her own self. My favorite part was Dani’s meeting with the King. Things changed for all of them then. This is the first book I’ve read by this author but it will definitely not be the last. I am on pins and needles for the next adventure. I highly recommend this book for shifter lovers. I volunteered to read an advanced reader copy and am under no obligation to leave this review.

I’m a huge fan of books about shifters especially if they include wolves. Danica is the FMC and an omega wolf. In this particular story an omega is nothing more than a toy to flaunt and be used as breeding stock for the leader of the pack. It’s quite appalling and demeaning the way she is treated by the pack that is supposed to be her family. When her pack is taken over by another pack she is led to believe that her luck has changed and she will finally be able to make decisions about her own life. She has four men vying for her attention and a family member resurfaces after being gone for several years. However, there is a traitor in her midst and Danica must find a way to save herself, the men she is slowly falling in love with and the entire pack.

This was an emotionally wild ride for me and I can’t wait to see how the story progresses.

River Ramsey is a rare shifter, an Omega. In a world of Alpha males who vying for dominance and the right to claim an Omega, River has no say in who will be her mate. Force to watch the Trials, the winner will be her mate.

When the war changes all and the Marok dynasty ends, the pack was given an ultimatum. To embrace the more civilized ways of the conquerors or end up being destroyed. River has to step up and save the pack and bring the 4 alpha males who entered the Trials to toe the line.

I love the chemistry between River, Rowan, James, Mace and Christopher. Great story line, the book kept me at the edge of my seat and I didn't want to put it down! I can't wait for the 2nd book to come out!

River Ramsey is a new author to me and this is a fantastic Reverse Harem story. Dani is a female omega wolf in a pack full of alpha males she has no say in her life at all, all the alpha’s care about is power and how to get more, Dani has a taste of freedom but it’s ripped away from her just as quick she wants to stop being a submissive wolf and become a strong woman and she decides to date the alpha’s 4 of them that want her but her head says one thing and her heart says another. I loved this story and I can’t wait to read about what happens next in book 2, I’ve just given bits and pieces of this story but there is so much more to keep you entertained and turning the pages and I enjoyed it immensely. A fantastic story and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

This book is so amazing! It’s a fantastic story of wolf shifters, and an omega female who’s just trying to survive. I really enjoyed the fact that the FMC is someone who isn’t your typically take charge character. As an omega, she is the literal embodiment of what is usually a docile shifter. Dani is such a great character, I seriously loved everything about her!

I enjoyed this book so much more than I had anticipated. And that ending, oh my gosh I was seriously in tears! I cannot wait for the next book in the series!

Wow!!! What a story. This story is not your typical omega story. Danica is an omega, but for her that practically means she's nothing but a pawn or a prize to be won so that she be a mate of the soon to be Lord Alpha of her pack. Four alphas must fight to the death. How degrading is that? She meets the competing alphas, Rowan, son of the residing Lord Alpha, Mace, the doctor of the pack & her sworn enemy, James, a hybrid wolf-vampire, and Christopher, her lifelong friend. So many things happen in this story, you won't be able to put it down. It doesn't end in a cliff-hanger but you do need to read the next book for more. I recommend this read 5 Thumbs up

No spoilers of any kind because I’m not the type that does that.
So this is all I’m going to say about this book and that is I thought it was awesome.
First time reading anything by River Ramsey and I have to say I really enjoyed her writing style and the way she created her realities.
I’m looking forward to reading more of her books in the future since she has a way of pulling her readers in and not letting them go until they get to the end of the story.
So yes I do recommend this book to anyone who’s looking for a fantastic story to crawl into and get totally lost within its pages.

Overall an enjoyable read, although I am a bit confused as to why the Omega characters are treated so shabbily when they're apparently such desireable mates? Yet everyone looks down on them, it's a bit confusing.

I enjoyed how none of the men were exactly how she expected them to be. Definitely a cliffhanger type ending because nothing is really entirely resolved either in her personal life nor in the wider political world view.

Definitely looking forward to the next book!

Dani’s story begins with a hard and sad existence. Just a pawn for those around her. Over the course of the story, she discovers the men she felt destined to hate, ends up being her salvation to survival. Their story is one of trouble, turmoil, friendship, love, devotion and strength. The characters show great depth and their world is quite intriguing. Can’t wait to read the continuation of the adventure.

Didn't like any of the guys

Meh. I'l don't have strong feelings about this book. It's an interesting plot but I really didn't like the characters. Also, everything felt really rushed. Major events happen in the space of a paragraph with no build up or explanation. Dani has a few TSTL moments and I honestly didn't like any of the guys. As of right now I'm actually hoping she dumps them all and runs off on her own.

This is my second read by this author and I’m very impressed. She puts her own nuances to storylines and makes them her own. This is my first introduction to a double shifter of wolf and vampire. That was very interesting. Dani must choose a mate from her “protectors.” Also in her travels, she finds someone she didn’t realize was missing. Good read!

This was book 1 in Dani's story. She's an omega wolf with basically no say in her life. Once her pack is taken over, her world gets turned upside down and her adventure begins. I liked the pace of this story and how things are developing. The author has created a world that us incredibly interesting and has a lot of potential. I'm looking forward to reading more of Dani's story

I was pleasantly surprised by hw the story developed and how Dani’s character evolves throughout. She’s an omega and according to shifter custom she is treated more as an item than a person. Things change abruptly in the story and quite a few twists and turns happen in the plot. Who can she trust or even love? Can’t wait for book two for more of Dani’s tale.

I enjoyed the first 3/4’s of the book but then it was just extremely rushed and thrown together and completely unbelievable. From the point they decide to go to the king it just goes downhill. There is no depth in the book. The only character I loved was Aspen. I don’t think I’ll read the rest of the series.

Ehhh it was okay but I found Dani to be reeeeeally hard-headed. She hated being this oppressed omega and then when she’s forced to go back to it she just accepts it again. A lot of the plot was predictable, I knew exactly what would happen in the next scene and who King Albion would end up being to Dani. Not much character development and Mace just ups and disappears like wtf?!

Great first book

This is a great start to a new series. Danica's story is heartbreaking. I love how the alphas rally around her as her life is turned upside down. I look forward to the next book and seeing where the story goes.
