The Temporal Test

Rate this book
Dr. Milton Braddock has been a pro at avoiding distractions for most of his life. Keenly observant, however, he is not immune to the presence of an attractive young woman. Still, Milt struggles to keep his eye on his scientific goals and at times, shuts himself out from the world around him. With no one to share his success and a growing sense of cabin (or lab) fever, Milt begins to think it is time to change the old habits.

Tabitha is a young art student simply trying to make ends meet. Although Milt repeatedly resists her offers of a social life, she won't give up on that almost reclusive, secretive man who still acts like a child when he is around insects. His intelligence does not put him outside of her league, but his will-power seems to. Is she constantly trying to pull him out of his shell as a personal challenge, or does she see something special in him? Tabitha couldn't even explain why, but she won't stop.

This prequel takes the reader into the the mind of Milt Braddock when he first discovers how to travel through time. Read about his experiment to test the theory, and the motive behind it.

Readers who enjoyed Detours in Time will love this glimpse into the mysterious Milt and character interactions with Tabitha. Milt is much more than an awkward scientist. Learn more about how Tabitha and Milt met and what they were like before they became a time-traveling duo as well as the moment that made it all possible.

By day, Pamela teaches Middle School English. By night, she travels to other worlds and times, placing herself in the persona of her characters, all while sitting in her favorite chair! She has enjoyed writing for various reasons ever since childhood, when she realized writing and making up stories would provide entertainment for long trips and keep her company. Her tendency toward fantastic stories was reflected in tales of discovering modern day dinosaurs and talking horses that would give her advice. The writing of poetry provided an outlet for private thoughts and emotions for years until she decided to self-publish fiction in 2016.

Pamela's genres include science fiction, paranormal fiction, and poetry of all types. The Made for Me series is Pamela's first published fiction series. She released her first full-length novel, Detours in Time, in the summer of 2017 and the sequel in 2018. Pamela currently juggles her day job with writing further novels in the Detours in Time world while cooking up more ideas for the character of Norrie from her Made for Me series.

A short and sweet introduction to characters who appear in full length books by the same author. This sets up the characters well and leaves enough intrigue and interest to look forward to reading the longer novels - one of which I have sitting on my kindle ready to be read!

Milt is a sweet, lovable guy, who, despite being a little anti-social, just might be a keeper. The lengths he will go to as a friend to make Tabitha happy are pretty telling. This story is quite endearing, and the way it delves into who Milt is made me even more interested. I think this is a great prequel to Detours in Time!

If I were to describe The Temporal Test by Pamela Schloesser Canepa with one word, mmmm no with one mood it would be charming. The Temporal Test has a decent dose of puppy love sprinkled throughout the story along with an absented minded professor character who hints and then discovers something, very amazing (no spoilers). The Temporal Test is a great lazy Sunday afternoon read.

This isn't a long read but it is an absolutely lovely introduction to Milt and Tabatha before their adventures really began. The story is sweet and well written. I only wish it were a little bit more flushed out as I have already read the later books of this series, and have enjoyed each one of them.

The Detours in Time series has a fresh aspect of originality in it, and I do love this author's style of writing. Yes, this one isn't substantial in length, but give it a go regardless. As I read this book after others in the series, I believe it would be equally good to read either before you venture into Milt's and Tabatha's adventures, or afterwards as I have.

This author does have a unique way of writing futuristic tales that bring together various aspects of humanity, reminding us that no matter how technology and the world itself changes with time, people still feel things and need to get on with one another. This story gets four stars from me, primarily because I just wish there was more of it. Awesome storytelling and storyline!
