“Write what you know,” they said. I’d been married three times. I wrote romances.

Fast forward ten years.

“Write what you know,” they said. I’d been divorced three times and fantasized about murdering my ex. Only massive doses of chocolate kept my finger off the trigger.

Now I write about murder and chocolate and the occasional ghost.

Lindsay's ex-husband's son Rickie, Rickie's mother Grace and Grace's new husband move in across the street from Lindsay. This happens on the same day that Lindsay is holding a 'got out of prison' party for the grandson of a couple of her friends. Shortly after the party goes out of control, Grace's new husband is dead. Then, the hilarious situations begin. Wives, parents and drug dealers fill out the cast as Lindsay and gang try to determine who the murderer is. I wish there was another book to buy. I am seriously hooked on this series and I really hope there will be more.

OMG! What a shocker!! I would have never guessed what secrets would have come out in this book. The best one of the series! Even Lindsay was in shock and at a loss for words, and that's impossible for Lindsay!! One of the best cozy mystery series that I have read in a long time.

Lindsay gets into an awful lot of mischief!

I’m a fan of whodunnits and cozy mystery stories but this may be one of my favorite series! Lindsay, Fred, Paula, Trent, and even Rickhead are such a fun and endearing group! I love Lindsay’s persona, she’s a very realistic character and she’s provided tons of laugh-out-loud moments for me throughout all of the Death by Chocolate books.

“Guns, Wives and Chocolate”, seventh in the 'Death by Chocolate' series, sees Lindsay investigating a very strange mystery.
Grace and her new husband Chuck are very much in love, or so it seems.
He's a successful farm equipment salesman with an area covering several states and he's away from home for weeks at a time.
Out of the blue, after a BBQ to welcome George back to the general population (his journey to prison is told in an earlier book, he drops dead.
He was poisoned and Grace is the prime suspect.
Until his other wives arrive in town - lots of them.
It seems Chuck was no great shakes as a salesman but was a talented drug dealer and surprisingly successful with the ladies!
But why was he killed?
Lindsay and the enigmatic Fred lead the investigation to clear Grace and to sort out the mystery of the multiple wives.
The plot is unusual but sounds very much like something that actually did happen in real life, or a melange of true crimes.
It's probably the best in the series so far.
4 Stars.

Fun characters and a great read!

Each book in this series is better than the last, with more great characters, laugh-out-loud humor, and plot twists that kept me guessing. How can one woman get into so much trouble, and how will she get out of it?

Lindsay and her quirky friends become embroiled in another mystery when her ex-husband’s ex-wife, Grace, moves in across the street with their wildly undisciplined son, Ricky, and Grace’s new husband. A backyard barbecue gone wrong kicks off a series of events and a hilarious, twisted plot that kept me wanting more. The masterfully written story kept me intrigued and entertained to the end, and I wanted more. I recommend the book, and the entire series, to anyone who loves a cozy, snarky mystery with a strong female lead who has a mind and will of her own.

As usual, a fantastic addition to the Death by Chocolate series, and now I'm sad, because the next one isn't out yet so I have to find something else to read.
There is a timeline thing that has bugged me in some of the earlier books, but especially in this one. There are a couple instances where "a couple years" and "a couple months" seem to be referring to the same amount of time, which I'm pretty sure is only a couple of months and this latest book takes place a little less than a year after the first one. But that's honestly my biggest problem, I enjoyed it overall. The mystery is good and holds together, but Lindsay's antics and her internal monologue are really what make this series so great.

Lindsay is hosting a party for some friends grandson who was just released from prison. She wasn't excited about doing it, but she had promised the grandparents. Rick's first wife Grace and new husband have just moved across the street from Lindsay. The grandson invited lot of his rowdy friends. Lindsay later catches him in her basement trying to dig up money that he had hidden there years ago. (In an earlier book this was explained)
Grace's new husband is found dead (murdered) and Grace is the prime suspect. But when lots of wives start popping up, Lindsay and Fred get involved to help Grace.
I love Lindsay's sarcastic humor!

Favorite of series

The series was driving me crazy. Lindsay was always doing really stupid dangerous things. I thought "Can she really be this stupid?" Her boyfriend how neither will be honest with the other also drive me crazy. But... I bought the series so I kept reading like a month to a flame. Finally!!! I'm this title, Lindsay seemed to get a brain. Her relationship was better. Where's the next one?

Best author; terrific read

This series is the best. Lindsey is always getting in trouble; Fred is always getting her out of trouble. I’m hoping Lindsey and Fred will become an item but so far it hasn’t happened. I love this series; the characters have become my friends. Ok, I have “special feelings” for Fred.

Liked this the best so far

The ending where Lindsey and Trent are cuddling, made me feel all gushy inside. I like that they seem to be getting more serious.
Rickey is a hoot, love that kid.
Fred still a mystery, is an adorable aspect of this series. And Henry is the best.
Love rediscovering this series. Hope there will be more.
Never disappointed with Ms Berneathy's books.

These books were all very fun. Like the others, the mystery in this book was good and held together well. That said, these books are really not as much about the mystery itself has how things play out. The characters and their interaction are quite fun. Lindsay's internal monologue really makes the books.

Guns and wives together? What could possibly go wrong?! Lindsey is caught up in quite a marital dilemma on this latest whodunnit. Chocolate is always the best solution to any problem in Lindsey’s world, and this one does not disappoint in the calorie department.

Sally doesn't just write stories. She creates living and breathing people. The main character, Lindsey, has the best snarky sense e of humor I have ever read. This is one of my favorite series.
