A new threat stands in the way of peace. The RSA is finally eliminated. Looking to the future, President Sherman founds an elite squad of soldiers—the Hunters—who he will use for strategic missions as part of restoring the stability of the country. Their first mission will take them to the heart of a city ravaged by Morningstar…but not everyone agrees with Sherman’s vision for the future. Threatened by new enemies on all sides, will Sherman and his allies be able to survive long enough to see the Hunters succeed on their inaugural mission? Or will dissident factions looking to release the deadly Morningstar Strain back out into the world succeed where others have failed, and bring humanity back to its knees?

I’m sorry. I’m sorry that I don’t have very much to say that would encourage you to read Ms. Peers iteration of the Morningstar Strain. Yes, our favorite characters are back. That’s where the good ends. The writing is All-Over-The-Place. Major events are completely skipped or glossed over. One aspect I couldn’t overcome was how the characters minimized the gravity of occurrences. One example was that the perpetrators of certain zombiecentric actions (don’t want to put any spoilers) that caused injury and death, were allowed to walk free so that the Plot could reach its Point. Mr. Recht’s world is full of riches…this was a pauper’s version. So much more could have been delivered. Therefore, until book Six, Heroes!!! I can’t wait! (Please don’t think a two star review is going to stop me! And yes, I KNOW that I will have to wait, it’s a figure of speech people). Thank you, David
This book in the series is awful. So boring, and terrible. It took me a long time to get through because I'd put it down and forget about it for weeks at a time. Finally last night I decided to chug through it so I could get to book six, but it was so painful that I skimmed the rest of the book. I'm sorry. I wanted to love this book. The first three in the series are amazing, and four was pretty good, too. Crossing my fingers for number six.
This series started out amazing, and now it's just a bunch of muddled politics. We don't even get any zombies until page 100. I only bought this and read it because I'm determined to see this series through to the end.
