The first terrifying chapter of the Dead Texas spinoff.
It’s Day Zero and the Texas zombie virus is quickly spreading throughout the nation. In a desperate race against the clock, two special forces teams are given an impossible mission. Turn the football stadium in Charlotte into a fortress, and rescue some of the brightest minds in the world to help with the coming war.
Dead America: The First Week focuses on the national response to the Texas zombie outbreak. There will be multiple mini-series within The First Week focused on several regions of the nation and how they are dealing with the crisis.
A U.S. squad military responds to a sudden zombie outbreak with extreme violence. A bio-terrorism attack by an unnamed attacker on Austin, Texas, has triggered the zombie plague. Anyone with Type A blood either is a zombie already or about to become one. Dear God, it's awful. It's the sort of book that makes you wonder why the author bothered - it has been written many times before in more or less exactly the same way. I have not read more than four or five zombie books before this and it reminds me of every single one of them - completely pointless! There seems to be more than 60 related books - I bet the zombies wish they could be that successful. I couldn't bring myself to finish it.
Did not finish. The book opens up with two Captains in the US army getting "promoted" to Master Sergeant, and goes downhill from there. The force structure, mission briefs, and ranks in the first couple of chapters were so distracting I just gave up. The dialogue looks like it might have been okay, never actually made it to an action scene so can't rate it. The not how the military works-ness of it was so thick and so integral to the plot(as described by the book jacket, didn't actually read the plot for myself) that I gave up and quit reading.
Edit to Add, I was told there was an updated version of the ebook that had the ranks lined out and other corrections, so maybe someone else won't find it as jarring if they get a current version
Turpinot vispārējo Dead America sēriju tās Pirmās un Otrās nedēļas sērijās, var labā nozīmē uzteikt centienus lokalizēto katastrofu atspoguļot plašākā, nacionālā līmenī, kas pietrūka Dead Texas ietvaros. Tā Dereks Sleitons piedāvā ieskatu, kā ar cīņu pret zombiju apokalipsi tiek galā personāži Ziemeļkarolīnas štata Šarlotē, pierobežā ar Meksiku El Paso, vairāk ASV vidiene, Portlendā un vēl vairākās lokācijās.
Action packed addition to the DEAD AMERICA. It was the first installment I read and it will not be the last. Two US Army Captains are against the clock to maintain order in a zombie infested Charlotte while a National Engineering conference is going on. I disregarded the typos because the situations involving the hospital, shopping center, and hotel kept me engaged and wanting more.
A bioterrorism weapon has been deployed in the United States- an airborne virus. In 24 hours any one with A type blood will become a rage induced animal. The military can’t save everyone so they’re trying to save the best and the brightest who are gathered in Charlottesville
Personally, I enjoyed this book. Would like to believe that the military could pull together in such a fire situation. Will definitely read the next book in the series.
Very action packed and exciting. Can't wait to read the next in this series. Lots of gun fighting and even some dumbbells getting in on it. The talk is snappy and the men and women are tough.
Man... Somebody get this author a proofreader. The story is really good but the grammatical errors and typos do get annoying after a while. Hopefully as the series progresses so will the writing quality.
This is the extension to Dead Texas and it's a serious step down. Same continuity and typo issues with a far less intriguing cast and storyline. Not sure I'll keep up with this.
...book, and would have given it 5 STARS but it really needs to be edited (see my Goodreads notes). Highly recommend DEAD TEXAS series to be read first!!!!
Just meh. Interesting concept, decent dialogue. But its more like a novelized screenplay than a novel. There is little to no description of anything other than the action.
3.75/5 I've been on a Dead America binge lately and lemme say this series is so fun with such dynamic characters. here's hoping the characters i like survive again lol
