I play dirty.
On and off the field.

There’s scoring… and then there is winning.

Except one woman... Lydia.
She thinks I’m a rude and arrogant playboy.

But I know there’s a part of her that wants me.
Lydia, I have to show you how dangerous I can be.
Your soft curves, delicious skin, gorgeous eyes.

I can’t help myself.
I have to play extra dirty with you.
And I know you’ll love it.

This is how I’ll play the game… my DIRTY PLAY!

I will start with what I liked about this book. I liked the energy and for the most part, I enjoyed the exchanges between Lyndia and Rey, though I felt like I was getting whiplash by how quickly the dynamic could change between them because of a simple misunderstanding/overreaction. Luckily, the things I liked about the book were enough to carry me to the end of the story. That being said….now to what didn’t work for me.
1. This is a little thing, probably barely worth mentioning, but… I hated Lyndia’s name. It’s like the author couldn’t decide between “Lynda” and “Lydia.” I cringed every time I saw it. (Full disclosure: I have chosen not to read books solely because I thought the main characters had ridiculous names).
2. Cocky alpha males such as star athletes do not giggle. Chuckle… maybe. Rey giggled at least twice.
3. The book crossed into juvenile/cutesy territory a few of times, particularly in the last couple of chapters. A judicial use of exclamation marks may help curb this.
4. My biggest issues was with chapter five. Without giving away too much (I hope) (this may get awkwardly worded), these are the things that didn’t work for me: A) Nate says something crass to Rey about Lyndia (well, Rey’s date). Now, if Reagan is her sister and she is Nate’s stepsister, Lyndia is also Nate’s stepsister. I have to assume that Nate didn’t know Rey’s date was Lyndia, because I assume he wouldn’t have said what he did if he had seen that it was her. B) Rey says he has to take a business call and excuses himself from the table because it would be rude to take it there. But then he says he has to make the phone call. Taking and making are different things, especially since there’s no mention that he is, say, returning a missed call. And why was it so important that it couldn’t wait until later? This was a poorly executed plot device to get to the next part of the chapter. C) During the sexy part of the scene, Rey says he sees something but I am still figuring out how he would be able to see what he says he saw, given how Lyndia likely was positioned.

I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the second book in the Bad Boy of Sports series. Rey is a baseball star and best friends with Nate from Dangerous Play. Rey goes with Nate to a charity function hosted by Nate's step-sister and meets her sister Lyndia. Lyndia and Rey do not get along right from the beginning and argue. Rey is shocked at Lyndia calling him names and acting like he is a horrible person. Later when Rey sees someone stranded at the side of the road, he stops to help, only to find it is Lyndia. Rey changes her flat tire and when he asks Lyndia to dinner to start over and be friends, she accuses him of demanding sex to pay back changing the flat. Lyndia thinks all men are cavemen and think everything they do is looking for sex. Rey is angry about her attitude about him and thinks she is crazy, but he can't forget her. Rey wants to be with Lyndia and wants to prove he is not what she thinks. Lyndia is a little too much of a feminist for me. I liked Rey and thought he really liked fighting with Lyndia. Lyndia seemed to go back and forth on if she wanted to be taken care of or stand on her own. It was unfair the way she treated Rey in some ways and i think he didn't really know how to act with her. They did have great chemistry and i think when Lyndia made up her mind, i think she really wanted to be with Rey. Good one.

Lydia and Rey are ideal characters for the good girl - bad boy alpha male sports star romance that is Romi Hart’s Dirty Play: A Bad Boy Sports Romance (Dangerous Book 2). This is an author who had perfected this sort of story. I loved the first book in the series (Dangerous Play, separately reviewed) so I was expecting good things this time around. Happily I can report that the book exceeded my expectations. If you like this sort of story (I’m rather addicted to them) then I can fairly guarantee you’ll love this one. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises - the book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.

A really good romance with lots of heat. ❤️️😍🔥❤️️

This is one of those books that you will want to smack both characters. You'll really want to hate Rey, who is a major league baseball player and an equally major league jerk. Lyndia is no angel either... she's a feminist who jumps to assumptions before either thinking or listening. But there is always another side to every person and it's true with both Rey and Lyndia.

I found myself shaking my head at their antics, then laughing at the results, and crying when they realized how messed up they were and how much they needed each other. It's well written and developed with really interesting characters. 💕💗💕

This is a great book and the second in this particular series Romi Hart is now a go to author for me and this book won't make me change that.

Rey baseball star that thinks he can get any woman he wants and he just about always has. Lydia young feminist who thinks all men are caveman that are trapped in the dark ages. They should have nothing in common it should be hate at first sight and yes in some ways it is but somehow they make it work after all there is also an extreme attraction to one another Yes there is hiccups along the way but rue love will eventually win

I was given a copy of this book but this is true and honest review

Rey is a baseball player who thinks he is all that. Lydia is a strong woman with her own opinions and not afraid to share them. When they meet sparks fly between them. Rey wants Lydia but she doesn't want to be just another warm body for him. As much as she is attracted to him Rey is going to have to work to get Lydia. Can Rey show Lydia that he isn't how he is perceived?

This is a great story once I started it I couldn't put it down. The chemistry between Lydia and Rey is off the charts hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

Two completely different people yet the chemistry is smoking hot. Ray is one of the top MLB players and he exudes confidence and enjoys his player lifestyle, that is until he goes to a charity event for his bf Nate’s sister and meets Lydia. A outspoken vegan who is extremely passionate about giving back, she quickly puts Ray in his place and the two form an unlikely relationship. I absolutely loved the banter between these two, literally laughing out loud. Can these two have a future, can the player be played. Another masterpiece added to the Romi Hart library.

Dirty play on the field of love

Lyndia, a bank teller with dreams, gets a rude introduction to Rey, a famous MLB player and royally arrogant person, at a charity function. As the story progresses sparks fly in and out of the bedroom, layers are peeled back and a life of no regrets is within reach if they choose to take it. Romi Hart has given the reader another stunning sports themed romance for her Dangerous series. This series focuses on arrogant males that have many flaws, strong females not willing to take their crap, and being your true self in all its ugly glory.

This is the second book in this awesome series. Rey is a sexy MLB player, and Lydia is a total feminist, and these two could not be more opposites if they tried. Rey had met his match with Lydia, and the chemistry is explosive. This is a well written flawless story, which is filled with angst, conflict, love and romance. I was totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and I cannot wait to read more from this talented author, who I highly recommend for all readers.

A fantastic well written short, fun, and light hearted sports themed contemporary romance.  It is humorous and enjoyable in this action packed, exciting, fast paced, heart pounding, pulse racing, adrenaline pumping, and titillating story. This storyline sucks me right in from the beginning with light, fun, witty-banter and sarcasm that includes a few glitches with its ins and outs, and ups and downs on it way to Rey and Lyndia gets to their HEA. I voluntarily reviewed this standalone ARC.

Wow I so loved this book. It showed us that love can happen anywhere just as long ax you put forth the mindset to go for what you want.  Rey and Lyndia are two of the most unexpected couple we ever imagined.  I hope that there are more to read in this series. I give it 5 stars. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book as an Advanced Reader's Copy.

This is a fun and entertaining romance read with antagonistic characters to start and later developing into more. There are great banter and interactions between the main characters, steam, misunderstandings and definitely overreactions. I liked this enjoyable read. Wow. This one was really unique. I read the first book in the Dangerous Series, and briefly met main character Rey there (Rey is best friends with the main character from Book 1, the obnoxious Nate Jiggur). I liked Rey in book 1—compared to Nate Jiggur, he seemed like a saint, so I was expecting something completely different than what I got with this book. Rey was cockier and more arrogant than I expected… but, duh, he is best friends with another narcissistic professional athlete, so what was I thinking! As with his BFF, he’s got his work cut out for him when it comes to the target of his heart, Lydia, who appears to be his opposite in nearly every way imaginable.

I’ll admit that I had a tough time with this pair of star-crossed lovers. First, Rey kind of drove me nuts with his over the top personality, although he did win me over eventually. But Lydia was just a bit too bombastic for me. That woman would probably argue with a lamp post, and personalities like that just don’t sit well with me except in small doses. While that banter was great, it actually got to be a bit too much for me at times and I really doubted that even an author of Ms. Hart’s caliber would have the capability to write a believable HEA for them. Well, she proved me wrong in spades, and I happily admit that. I enjoyed “watching” the transformation of these two strong personalities as they realized they couldn’t both be the biggest personality in the room.

Readers can share this hot read with their best friends. The bedroom scenes are pretty intense and spicy since the one thing Rey and Lydia can count on is chemistry that’s high on the Scoville scale. There’s also a bit of adult language as well. But if you’re up for a different style of romance with lots of heat, sizzle, banter, and big personalities, check out this amazing read.

Playing the player and winning the game of love

Playing Dirty by Romi Hart is a story of mind games, winning and no regrets. Romi Hart creates these two characters as opposite as they come crafting an enemies to lovers romance that leaves the reader wondering, how this will all work out! Rey, the latin lover, is older and seemingly wiser while Lydia is younger and idealistic. Neither really understands (or tolerates!) the other except in bed. Their chemistry is smoking hot, but only leaves them more confused.
Another well written book by Romi Hart that melts your heart once the bad boy finally falls for the one woman for him.
I read an ARC of this book from Bookfunnel and voluntarily share my review.

Dirty Play is the story of Rey, a MLB player, and Lynndia, a feminist who calls him out on his BS. There is a lot of explicit language and sex scenes scattered throughout the dialog between these characters. Overall, the plot of this book just didn't grab me. Even though the characters did mature toward the end, I really didn't like them very much. Both the H and h spent so much time trying to "one up" the other, that I just didn't connect. The book is written well and I have enjoyed Romi Hart's other books. This one just wasn't to my taste.

This is book 2 in the Dangerous series and it features Rey and Lyndia. In this book it was a little of the cocky, narcissistic attitude of Rey and a WHOLE LOT of this really strange man-hater attitude of Lyndia that I did not enjoy. I really didn’t like her character through most of the story. She was extreme in her opinions, obnoxious and unrelatable. As with the first book in this series, the fabulous last chapter is not enough to carry the whole book, I’m sad to say. Again, these type of characters are just not for me.

Good story line

Initially I thought this was a story the I had previously read but now I am not sure. Lydia is unsure what she wants, she just knows that she wants to help people. Rey is celebrity baseball player who typically goes for slightly older women. Their initial meeting leaves him baffled and when he reads the article she wrote he is even more unsure. Can Lydia and Rey find themselves without losing each other in the process?

Great story line. The relationship between Lydia and Rey is allowed to develop naturally.

Well written story with nice story line and plot. Written in dual POV which gives the reader a lot more of the feelings and thoughts of the main characters. Characters have a nice chemistry. They are well described and develop well during the story. I like that the characters mature during the story because they really needed to do that. I did not like the heroins character and behavior most of the time. I could not connect with her but luckily she changed a bit.
Enjoyable read.

Great Book!

Romi has written a fantastic sports romance! I loved it!
It is a light, funny, entertaining read that pulls you in from the first page and doesn’t let you go! Rey and Lyndia were great characters! They didn’t get along at first but they grew on each other in the end.

Excellent sports romance. The characters are well developed by Ms Hart. The story has a angst as well as conflict and eventually romance. I liked Lydia’s character a lot because she didn’t just give in to the stuck up playboy. I received a complementary copy of this book and chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books by this author.

I usually like Romi's books but this one was unlikable. The writing is good as usual. The only problem I had was Lyndia. My goodness she was unlikable. She is everything I hate in a women. She got better by the end but it was too late. This only got 2 stars because everything worked out in the end between her and Rey.

ONE KILLER READ!!!
Wow! Romi never ceases to amaze me. This is one exciting, titillating, action packed, fast paced, heart pounding, pulse racing, adrenaline pumping, hard hitting, page turning thriller that captivates from the start. Your heart is in deep once you pick up this bad boy. All the ups and downs, ins and outs, ups and downs, a few glitches and grinds make for an unpredictable experience. Talk about some crazy events but this one really got to me. Romi totally nailed this bad boy with such realism it rocked my world. Her characters and scenes are so realistic and believable. She writes with such passion that weaved into every page throughout the entirety. All the drama and suspense keeps you focused on the pages and frozen to your seat waiting for the next show to drop. She uses such graphically detailed descriptions it really pulls this little treasure together beautifully. Romi did a phenomenal job bringing this read to life. Fantastic job Romi, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.
