Skulls MC #19

Doc Marshall

Rate this book
Every story has a beginning, a middle and an end. Every man and woman that lives on earth makes their mark on it while they're here. But some people leave an indentation...and Doc Marshall and his old lady Dallas were two of those people.
Doc Marshall's beginnings were not humble. He was born with advantages that other people only wished for. But Doc didn't want the “things” that his father, a surgeon, worked so hard to give him. What Doc wanted was for his father to notice him. He wanted his father to realize that he was different, special even. By the time Doc was a teenager however, he'd given up on that...and he had realized that Landon Marshall's ambivalence toward him had actually been a blessing, because it left him determined to leave his own mark, his own legacy...people would remember his name someday, and not because he was Landon Marshall's son.

Doc joined the army before he was old enough to vote. He saw unspeakable things in the jungles of Vietnam, and he used what he saw, and what he learned to prepare himself for what he wanted. Doc came back from the jungle with his sights set on becoming the president of a powerful MC...the Southside Skulls. He used his intelligence, his grit, and his focus, to make that happen quickly. By the time he was twenty-five...everyone knew his name. He was sitting on top of the world and it was his for the taking...then in walked Dallas Paxton, just to shake things up.

Dallas grew up in the times of free-living and free-love. She was a hippie in almost every sense of the word. She loved hard and passionately, without holding back. Something about the MC president with the incredible blue eyes, crawled under her skin and burrowed in deep...and before their story was over, Dallas wouldn't be the same carefree, earth-loving, peace and love girl that she was before.

Doc Marshall didn't make a lot of mistakes, but usually when he did, they were monumental. People might even whisper about them behind his back...but there was only one person on earth who had the balls to say it to his face, and that was Dallas. They loved passionately, they fought passionately, they lived passionately. They built an empire together, one they would leave for their son, Dax.

This is their story. The beginning and the middle. The question that begs to be answered is...who will remain standing in the end?

Join Doc, Dallas, the early Southside Skulls and their offspring for a wild, tumultuous, passionate ride that will leave you breathless...and aching for more.

I saw this book on a list of "cheaters" and added it to my reading list.
I started reading without much expectation, but I ended up being so involved in the story that I read until 4 am.
Our Zero is a narcissist SOB who needs constant adoration from both the women and the brothers in the club. He can't keep his zipper closed and cheats throughout his relationship with our heroine.
He was very disloyal and disgusting.
Our heroine ends up in a situation that puts her in jail for a few years and when she comes back he is in the bedroom receiving a blowjob from one of the whores club. And she asked him to respect her position at the club and not use club whores, but he did not. In the meantime he got involved with another woman and every time he went to visit the heroin he had sex with the other woman. She became a constant in his life and he couldn't be without the other woman.
When this woman appeared pregnant screaming at their house, our heroine saw that he would never respect her and decides to leave.
Even when he was trying to convince her to give him another chance, he continued to fuck club whores.
He never wanted to change and even claiming that she was the love of his life, he loved himself more than anything or anyone.
Selfish, narcissistic and craving worship, he felt that our heroine did not fulfill this need for him. She loved him unconditionally, but saw his flaws and qualities, she wanted to be a life partner and not a passive worshiper. She had the backbone to defend her values and demand respect and fidelity. Things he denied.
We don't have an HEA and I confess that I was touched at the end, but I was very angry with him and their son, because they only valued her after they lost her and they would have no more chance to fix the mistakes.
But it was a good story and it hooked me from start to finish.

He’d fucked the shit out of Jamie the night before, the entire time pretending it was Dallas Paxton, whose name he hadn’t known at the time.

What he needed was some hot, sweaty, anonymous sex to get his mind off her for a while.

She especially avoided even the thought of that once she realized that there was practically a parade of women going in and out of his bedroom.

He had fucked Jamie, and a few of the other girls...he even caught Dallas glaring at him once as he let Jamie into his room.

He thought about her almost constantly, even when he was with another woman.

She promised Doc Marshall that she was his and his alone. She had in effect allowed herself to be branded by a man she herself believed had no conscience and no love for anyone half as strong as his love for himself.

He didn’t want to be with anyone else...but a man had needs that had to be taken care of so he could concentrate on more important things, things like making sure Dallas would be protected and taken care of in a prison in New York.

Doc hadn’t realized just how horny he was until he laid eyes on her. She smiled and the white of her teeth contrasted with the red lipstick on her full lips.

He was still smiling. “Seriously, she doesn’t expect you to have blue balls for four fucking years, does she?”

Doc had started trying to make the drop himself as often as he could, just hoping for another look at Abril.

Abril was dressed in a pair of high-waisted light-blue jeans and a fitted, white turtleneck sweater.

Doc felt his pants tighten across the front and he thought about what Dallas told him: “I just don’t want to know, and I don’t want anyone on the ranch to know.”

She went to lunch with him that day and before the day was over, she found herself in a hotel with him.

Abril panicked and blurted out, “What does that mean? He’s just dumping me?” Her heart was racing. Even the thought of going to jail didn’t frighten her as badly as the thought of living without Doc. Over the past two years, she had seen him at least once a week when he came to New York to visit his old lady.

Doc stepped onto the steps leading upstairs and there was Jamie, coming down. He didn’t say a word, he just grabbed her by the arm and propelled her on up with him.

Jamie had a self-satisfied smirk on her face and for some reason that pissed him off...it was like she thought she knew he’d come back to her someday.

With Dallas still in prison and Abril in San Antonio, his balls were blue again.

“You’ve been gone too long if you can’t figure out what’s happening here. I was about to satisfy your man...again.”

He told himself that he wasn’t looking for Abril. It had been over a year since he saw her. He’d sent money a few times through one of their nomads that passed through Texas, but he didn’t take her calls any longer and he hadn’t gone to see her.

He had no fucking clue what he was doing. His old lady was about to have their baby and she’d kill him if she knew he was there. Trying to justify his decision, he told himself that he had to blow off some steam or he wasn’t going to be able to handle his business with a cool head.

It was definitely Abril, and she looked as hot as ever.

He realized that was the hold that Abril and girls like Jamie had over him. Dallas loved him, but she didn’t worship him...and every so often, he needed that.

“Good baby. Don’t let anyone else touch you,” he said. “That hot body is mine.”

He was making her happy. He was all she wanted. Dallas didn’t need to know...then they’d all be happy. “I love you, Doc. I’m going to love you forever.”

“Where is he?” Dallas screamed into the phone.

He sighed and said, “He stayed out all night the night before we came home.” Dallas did the math.

He was fucking his mistress three days before she was giving birth to their child.

It was bad enough to think about herself being disrespected, but she was not going to have her baby’s father running around, being a whore.

He has to come first, Doc. Which means...if you can’t keep your dick in your pants for me, I’d like you to do it for him.”

“I’m talking about your whore in San Antonio,” she said, not mincing words.

That woman in Texas meant something to him. He could deny it until he was as blue in the face as his eyes were...but a woman knew these things.

The last time he went to Texas was when Dax was only three months old. They’d had a knock-down, drag-out fight. She’d accused him of going to see Abril and he’d accused her of being clingy and insecure.

Of course, he had seen Abril while he was there. But, in his defense, at least in his own mind...Dallas wasn’t going to believe him even if he didn’t.

God help him, as hot as Dallas was, his cock still ached for variety every now and again. That was the attraction to Abril. He knew he had to keep it out of the club, or Dallas would do something stupid like take a knife to him in his sleep.

Anyway, Abril was safe. She wanted him badly enough that she would keep her mouth shut and not risk losing him altogether, and she wouldn’t stop taking her pills and turn up pregnant because he’d already told her that she’d be on her own if she did that.

Abril made him feel like his old self, the wild Doc...

He wanted to see her face. Instead, as he emptied his seed into his lover, he was looking across the room at the doorway, and into the wildly pissed-off blue eyes of his old lady.

She wasn’t quiet when she went into the trashy little place, but they were too loud and busy themselves to hear her. If she weren’t so pissed and sick to her stomach, the look on Doc’s face when he saw her might have been funny.

By the time he dressed and got away from a sobbing, crazy Abril, she was gone.

She should have known. Dax was only her baby as long as she was with Doc. Everything was only hers as long as she was with Doc. If she left him, she might as well be roommates with Abril.

Doc was right. Dax was his son, and she was just some woman who warmed the big guy’s bed and dropped the little one off at kindergarten every day.

He had only seen Abril twice since the time Dallas caught them together. They never talked about that day. He’d just shown up, like he always did about a year and a half after that, and they did what they always did.

“Doc, I’m having your baby. I’m pregnant.”

How do we even know that kid is yours?” Doc didn’t like the way that question made him feel.

Dallas and I can survive this.” “Dallas doesn’t ever have to know. I’ll go out there myself tomorrow. I’ll take her to the abortion clinic myself...”

“Absolutely. Doc...you do want her to abort it, right?”

If Dallas found out about this, she would leave. Doc would try to dissuade her. He’d threaten to keep Dax from her. But Dallas wasn’t weak and she wasn’t stupid.

“What do I want?” she said, softly. “I want the same thing I’ve always wanted. I want you. I want you and me and this baby.” She put her hands over her flat belly and said, “I want us to be a family.”

Doc laughed. “You don’t want to threaten the devil, baby. You can keep the vest, I have another. We’ll call it a souvenir. You can give it to the kid one day. Don’t forget to tell him his father was a legend.”

He couldn’t understand why he had been so stupid, cheating on her with the likes of Abril.

She could trust him with her life, but he had sorely taken advantage of her heart. He suddenly felt like a horrible person. The smile faded from Dallas’s face, as if she could read his thoughts and she said: “What’s wrong?”

It had been two weeks since Abril snuck onto the ranch and caused Dallas’s world to finally crash down around her. She had talked to an attorney, opened her own checking account, and contacted a woman in New Jersey that had been involved in helping her design the underground tunnels on the ranch.

Loving Doc had been toxic to her soul, and she desperately needed a cleanse.

Something inside of Doc was broken. His need for adoration and attention far surpassed what she would ever be able to give him on her own. She had lived in denial of that for too long. It was time to move on.

“If Mom’s so great, why did you do it?” “I guess because I’m not as great as your mom. She would have never done that to me.”

Sleeping in the same house with her for the past four months and not being allowed to touch her had been torture. He had tapped one of the club girls once, a girl named Amy, but it honestly hadn’t made him feel any better. It wasn’t the sex he was desperate for, it was Dallas.

I hate crying while reading a book. I won't read sweet sad romance because I really, really hate for a book to make me cry. If you're the same...it doesn't happen until near the end.
If you have read the first part of this series then you know Dax. This is his father's, Doc's, and his mother Dallas book. It wasn't love at first sight with Doc and Dallas but instead, Dallas hated Doc. She is probably the only person who was able to beat on him and get away with it. Things change and then they fall in love.
This book does have their love story but it's more about regrets. How you might get away with something for awhile but it will come out one day and everything changes. There are no more chances. You can't go back and change the past but instead you have to live with it. You have regrets and think how if only you could have a do over.
If you don't tell someone how you really feel, how much you love them.. do it now. Don't wait and think you have time because you never know when it's your turn to go.

OMG! Could she pack any more sex into 323 pages? A little OTT for me, but it’s a good cautionary tale, don’t expect a strong woman to tolerate a long term mistress and don’t expect love to heal all wounds. He’s a narcissistic, self absorbed ass and she deserved better.

First book by this author and what an intense read this was. I started the book in the afternoon and finished it in one sitting. The author did a great job delving into the psyche of a weak narcissistic character. Doc is a prez of the skulls bikers who is selfish as well as self-absorbed and doesn’t come to appreciate his old lady Dallas until it’s too late. Readers beware, there are some major ow dramas. No HEA but I really liked the book and the heroine.

The book was well written for sure. However, Doc was a total piece of shit, cheating scumbag who never redeemed himself and I am extremely angry that the h fucked him shortly before she died. Their son, Deck, was also an asshole and treated his mother like shit. I hope he has nightmares and regrets how he treated his mother for the rest of his God-given life. Ugh I seriously despised the father and son!!!! End of rant…….🖕🏽🤬👿

Let's start off by saying this is a awesome series and we really loved Doc's current story. For those of you who follow my reviews know that Ms Cooke is one of my favorite top MC authors and each and every book in this series has been a winner in my book.I also want to point out that I really loved the cover of this current story. Those eyes of Doc's just make me melt sigh....

From the onset of this story I new this story was going to be a good one.The author had us already engrossed in the story from page one.I am really glad that the author decided to give Doc a story as we have heard so much about him throughout the series that I was really glad to heard Doc's story and how it all began.I actually like how the author choose to do his story now and work backwards and included some of the original and founding members as well and I am so looking forward to Coyotes story next.

My favorite character would be Dallas Omg! I loved her from the moment she walked through those MC doors and shook things up.I loved the fact that all the members loved and respected her and their was even one in particular in love with her something the Prez addressed early on in the story.

I loved Dallas and found her to be feisty, loving, caring, tolerating, forgiving to a point,smart,love-able,a bad*** in her own right, loyal, and also had that hippie laid back attitude.I loved that her smiles and sunny attitude affected all those around her. She was just a character that you could not help but love.I shed more than a few tears for Dallas and it broke my heart and we experienced her pain right along side of her.

The chemistry Doc & Dallas had was explosive and they definitely burned up the sheets in and out of bed and an match made in heaven. Two opposites attract who seemed to be soul mates.

I loved hearing how Doc's got involved with the club and how it all came about and I have to say I found him to be cunning and clever to do what he did when it came to the club and club matters.I wish I could say that I loved him but, it was more like love/hate relationship I had with Doc's character and in the beginning he looked like a promising character.I will say he did have some good qualities as you could see how his men loved and respected but, feared him as well.Doc's actions however were inexcusable and Doc I wanted to smack the crap out of you for the pain and suffering you caused the one who loved you the most. The last half of the book I needed tissues by me.Doc if you were before me right now I would string you up like you do those bad guys of yours.

I loved the story from cover to cover the characters were amazing as always .The suspense and drama and secrets coming to life kept you engrossed in the story the entire time. The story made me laugh as well as shed tears and shed them I did more than once.

They say that karma always comes back to bite you and for some of those that holds true and I am sorry that the selfish actions of one individual wrecked and entire family as well as affected and entire club by ones actions alone.

This story was and emotional tale and is the type of story that sticks with you for a bit even when the story is over. For me if a story still has you thinking about it still hours later it was an amazing read that goes into you keeper pile for books to be remembered a re-read and a later date.

So looking forward to the next book in this on going series.

This book is full of triggers, cheating being a major one. There’s death, heartbreak and an epic love story also. It doesn’t have a happily ever after ending. With that said, I absolutely loved this book and couldn’t put it down. At times I hated Doc and at times he broke my heart. At times I wanted to shake Dallas and other times wanted to hug her. Doc grew up in an upper class dysfunctional home, left home at sixteen and was determined to leave his mark on the world. Dallas was a spit fire and the product of free loving hippie parents. This book takes place in the 70’s/80’s and gives you the background of the Skulls MC founder. It can be read as a standalone. Doc is single minded in his goal to make the Skulls a huge organization and for his name to be known by all. It’s clear that Dallas is the only woman he has ever loved but it’s such a sad love story. Doc and Dallas got into my brain and my heart. Yes, he was a cheater and no I don’t like cheaters but then there’s real life situations where you weigh, not the actual cheating, but how it affects the characters and the depth of love between the two. Doc is a definite anti-hero and even though I didn’t forgive him for his actions, my heart did break when he finally realized how many things he should have done differently. These characters didn’t leave my mind or my heart when I got to “The End”. It’s a book I’ll read again. There’re sizzling, hot sex scenes that are believable. There’s so much more I could say about this book but I realize a lot of readers will not like it at all. I highly recommend this book if you like stories that have real life situations and characters who come across as believable. I’m looking forward to the next one.

Depressing read mostly about his cheating. Not the gritty biker story promised. It's actually depressing to read about his cheating and hurting Dallas, not gripping.

It's not even a biker book, the MC had no real part in the story. It irritatingly jumps ahead months and years. I gave 2 stars because I liked Dallas the heroine until she puts up with his constant cheating and the writing isn't awful but it did nothing to make me even notice the other guys in the MC, so I wont be continuing this series.

I know the writer wrote Doc to be purposefully selfish, a cheating pig, who didn't care if he hurt his woman etc but it wasn't enjoyable to read about and that alone does not for a gritty biker ibook, not in any way.

If you're looking for romance with hearts and flowers, DO NOT PICK UP THIS BOOK. However, if you're looking for a love story with angst and attitude... GRAB THIS ONE.

I'm not going to say anything about this book as there are enough reviews that say it all. What I will say is that I deducted 1 star as there were times in the book where I felt slightly robbed and wanted more. But there is so much in there that I think, in the author's defence, if she had tried to write in more we'd be paying for extra books that some would moan could be condensed into less...

Doc Marshall: Skulls The Early Years (Skulls MC Romance Book 1)
by Jessie Cooke

It was great to finally read about Doc, his old lady Dallas and the Skulls early years.
He was lucky enough to have had a privileged up bringing but didn’t get along well with his father as he wished, which caused a rift between them. All he wanted was his father’s recognition for his own choices and to realize that his goals were just different. Doc Marshall was determined to leave his own mark on the world, every one would remember his name for his own accomplishments, not because he was surgeon Landon Marshall’s son.
Then Dallas Paxton walks in to his life. By the time he was 25, Doc had set his eyes on becoming the president of the Southside Skulls MC, and Dallas just stirred up trouble for Doc. She was a free spirited girl and tough as nails, Doc’s not ready for a relationship or is he, may be just a little fun is in order or my be Dallas has something that could change Doc’s mind.
This was a really an epic story. Dallas surely knew how to manage her life, and with out giving too much away, had Doc in her sights. He’d come along way, his determination for his club was intense and I admired his strength, but I found his casual sexual behaviour later in the story lost him many brownie points and he slid down my list of favourite book heroes. That saying, the story was well written and very entertaining. Fun to read when previous heroes were kids or even babies and I’m certainly looking forward to Coyotes story next.

I wondered if going back to the early years of the MC would work..well it does! But I warn you...there are tears, lots of heartfelt tears!

Adonis Marshall, or Doc, engineers his way into the president’s position of the Southside Skulls MC club after returning from fighting in Vietnam. It’s here he meets a spitfire of a woman called Dallas Paxton and where life really gets interesting for them both.

This story gives background information laying the foundations for both The Southside Skulls MC, Westside Skulls MC and clubs in Texas they are affiliated with and helps to explain fully just why and how things eventuated in both areas.

Talk about experience all the emotions within each scene, wow! The hospital scene was truly emotive and the lump in my throat is huge as I write this but the tears drop with the burial scene. Then there is the passion between the two leading characters, Doc and Dallas. The fire in their eyes could even ignite a convent it’s so flammable let alone the raw intimacy between the two. Along with these two strong feelings is the humour because there is some sprinkled throughout, some as fun banter and some in the form of sarcasm.

As far as characters go to be totally honest Doc annoys me plenty of times! But then I am sure that is exactly how this author wants us to see him. He even notes it about himself when being honest about his shortcomings. He is still a likeable character even so and it’s not hard to understand how Dallas falls in love with him. Dallas is a fantastic character, I really enjoyed her feisty nature.

This fast-paced story is extremely easy to read and very hard to put down once you start!

I take my hat off for this talented author; she just seems to keep getting better and better! The early years take up back to the when a damaged and troubled Doc and Mad Dog came back from Vietnam, and the inception of the club. Doc always had one true love which was Dallas, and he eventually paid the ultimate price for his life choices, and it was their love and passion which developed Dax into the strong man he is today. This is truly a beautifully written flawless and phenomenal story, which is emotional and heartbreaking, and I was totally intrigued and captivated throughout this addictive page turner. I cannot wait to read more from this talented author, and highly recommend her work for all MC lovers.

I’m a sucker for a good MC club, and I’ve been slowly reading my way through Jessie Cooke’s MC books. Doc Marshall- The Early Years really addresses how the MC started moving in the direction it is now and delves into how the west coast chapter started. Doc Marshall, an army medic, joins this MC and meets Dallas, a spunky woman seeking revenge. The connection is instant and the work is obvious. I don’t want to share too much, but I will say that I liked this story. I liked that the plot twists were unexpected. Good addition for the author.

There were many aspects of this story I loved but the hero was NOT one of them. I haven’t hated a character this much in a looooong time. I loved the heroine and really enjoyed the book but never lost the feeling she could have done better. And the ending destroyed me.

This was a moving touching story. About life ,love and family. About sticking up for family and moving on in a moving story about the beginning of the MC.

🌶️: 3.5

MC romance with cheating and minimal OW drama. Also written in the third person. This book details the beginning of the Skulls MC. The setting starts in the 1970’s. Defiant to his father, Doc joins the military and when he comes home, decides he’s going to take over a MC whose president is serving time. He wants to take the club to new heights and make a name for himself. He meets the FMC when she confronts him about something he’s done. No one had ever spoken to him like she did and he wanted her from that moment on. The book progresses over several years.

There’s an incident where Dallas has to defend herself and ends up killing someone. She’s sent to prison for a few years and while she’s away, she does tell the MMC that he could sleep with someone else, she just doesn’t want to know about it and so the MMC does begins seeing someone else. When the FMC is released, he continues seeing Abril, which is where the cheating comes in, as now the FMC has made it clear he is to not be with anyone. When Abril ends up pregnant and Dallas finds out, she finally has enough and Doc doesn’t get in the way of her leaving. Unfortunately this caused a lot more problems with her son and their relationship was never the same after.

This was definitely a rage read. I loved the FMC in the beginning. She was such a spitfire and I just knew that she wasn’t going to put up with any of the MMCs shenanigans. Unfortunately, she did let him get away with far too much for too long. But she was in a tough spot where she had stayed because he threatened her that she would not take his son off the ranch so she was afraid of not being able to see him. And then their son ends up growing up to be disrespectful toward her which initially, I didn’t know why the author needed to do that. But at the end when Dallas passes away, it’s clear Dax was going to have regrets that would shape him in becoming the person he would be.

Having said all that, and even though it was written in the third person and I truly hated how things played out with the main characters at the height of the cheating and her finding out, this was a well written MC romance. I actually don’t think I’ve ever read a MC romance that dove so heavy into the inner workings, and I think it was because this was the real beginning of the club. Like Doc had taken over when the other President was in jail, so it wasn’t a brand spanking new club, but under Doc’s leadership, it became so much more and it was very interesting reading the details around that.

By the end of this book, I was an emotional mess. Up until the end, my rating was actually a little lower than what I ended up giving it and I wasn’t sure that I was gonna recommend it. But I fully understand why the book had to go the way that it went and as much as it was a rage read, the writing was just absolutely fantastic and I definitely recommend this book.

❤Brilliantly done - so much passion - so much heartache*****❤

This is not the happily-ever-after we are used to or usually looking for, but it is so worth the read. First let me say that the cover was perfect.  Very rarely does a cover actually represent the main character so well.  Just looking at him you know he is going to be delightfully naughty. Ms. Cooke did an incredible job combining everything that you've read on the Southside and Westside Skulls and incorporated it into a hell of a story. You really can't take it out of context and have to remember the way things were during that time period, things really were very different in so many ways.

There are going to be moments you want to scream and say "are you f****** kidding me,"  "how dare he,"  and "no she didn't." Then the moments you're just going to flat-out cry, and I mean the ugly cry that feels like someone stabbed you in the heart, so make sure you have a tissue box close by.  I can't imagine this story being told any other way, it is not for the faint of heart. Ms. Cooke did a phenomenal job writing the depth of thought, raw emotion that was sometimes dark and the passion and love that went into her characters that made up this dysfunctional family you become addicted to. The love they shared even when it was toxic, dark and dangerous to each other, she showed how hard it is to walk away when the heart doesn't agree and she also showed the breaking point when the heart can't take anymore.

Doc's story and how he lived his life and loved those that he cared about will put you through an emotional gauntlet. Was he a good man? Was he a bad man? I don't think that you can judge anybody by one action and although he made numerous bad choices I think overall in the end he was an incredible character and she did him justice. I do recommend reading and will warn you - you will become invested in these characters. You're not going to want to set that book down for no other reason than wanting to know how it turns out. Happy Reading!

Interrupted by yelling he goes to see what is happening, when he saw a beautiful woman, but she was angry like a hell cat, hearing what she has to say he sends her away, but she needs to be escorted and the boys come back bruised, the problem was he was amused by her and turned on at the same time, but he also decided that Carlisle had served his purpose and the Southside Skulls was going to be his.
Dallas refuses the money Doc offers her she doesn’t want it, she can do it on her own, but she finds herself at his ranch after her landlord attempts to rape her for rent.
Finally, Doc got what he wanted and that was Dallas, but while they were away, Doc leaves the hotel room after a nightmare, to meet the Sinners, Dallas had been thinking about not travelling and hesitate at the knock on her door after ordering room service, getting her gun and she was right, only she didn’t expect to kill someone and end up in jail.
Dallas knew it was hard for Doc while she was in jail and said that if he did see someone else, she didn’t want to know who and no one from the club.
Visiting the pastor, he sees Abril and when she agrees to lunch, he knows, he’s got her.
Dallas surprises Doc when she returns taking about the woman in his room, letting everyone in the club know not to touch what was hers. Doc is away and Dallas wants him back close to her due date, although when she goes into labour, she realises that it isn’t the live she wants for their child, she lets him know that their child has to come first, and if he can’t stop the other woman for her do it for him, including the Abril and the club girls. Dallas new the woman in Texas meant something to him.
Can Doc do the one thing that Dallas asks, or will it tear them apart forever and make him loose the one woman he truly loves.

Doc Marshall: Skulls The Early Years was a great 5 star read.
Wow, where to start with this review, I was blown away by this book.
This is Doc and Dallas’s story and boy it was page turning and so emotionally charged.

Doc ends up leaving home and joining the military. His relationship with his dad was not good at all. When he returns from vietnam he has a plan and that plan works out very well for him.

Doc meet’s Dallas when she comes to the MC ranch to confront him. He has never seen her but quickly finds out what her issue is. Dallas has been struggling since her grandfather passed and she blames Doc for it. She is very hard headed and sassy.

Why can’t God at least make criminals as ugly on the outside as they are in? The blue eyed devil wants my soul - Dallas

Doc was intrigued by Dallas something about her pulled him in. She was a female Doc. When Dallas ends up back at the club he is determined to have her. When things finally ignite between them watch out. Their relationship is definitely unique with several twists and turns.

Doc really pissed me off at times because of choices he would make. He was so controlling of everything around him including Dallas. There was an arrogance to Doc that came off the pages.I had so many shocking moments that had me in tears and the ending had me a blubbering mess. Jessie Cooke has done an awesome job telling this story, nothing is sugar coated, you get the real Doc and the brotherhood. You may not like everything you read but it’s what makes the story so intriguing. I can’t wait to read more from this series. This is a must read for 2018.

Adonis (Doc) Marshall lived a privileged life, a father that was a Doctor and very distant with his son and a loving mother. Doc had want ever he needed and everything he wanted, except the love of his father.

Turning 16 he jumped on his bike and left, joining the army and finding his own way.

Returning from the army he knew what he wanted .he was going to take over The Southside Skulls. Doc was smart smarter than most people and much smarted than the president of the skulls. Doc worked out every detail and his plan was set,the president patch was going to be his.

His life was great now president to the skulls everyone in the important positions of the club were there by his doing life was good.

That was until she walked into his life kicking and screaming and turned his world around.

Dallas walked into the skulls looking for Doc he ruined her life and caused her grandpas death and she wanted revenge.Doc found her feisty, amusing and sexy as hell.

Dallas tries to get her life on track but its seems to be impossible to get a head, when she gets an idea its off to the skulls to make it happen.

Dallas approaches Doc with her offer, she knows he thinks it something else and makes it clear she is here to work in the greenhouse only.Doc lets her know its only a matter of time she will be in his bed and be his woman. They will love hard and fight harder but will happiness elude them and end in heartache.

OMG I'm so upset with the brilliant Jessie Cooke that I can't even see straight from all the eye leakage. And yes, I know what I was getting into, but knowing & experiencing are two different things completely! This is the story of Doc Marshall, his life on how he ended up making the Skulls MC what it is today, and the only woman he ever loved, Dallas. I can't even get into the details right now, because one, I don't want to ruin it for anyone, and two, I'll start crying all over again. I'm so mad at Doc, like you wouldn't believe how mad at him I am. I knew that he had made some very douchey decisions, but I just didn't know how utterly bad he screwed up in all of his douchey glory. I loved me some Dallas, that woman did everything she could to understand, and love him despite his shortcomings which were HUGE, but when push came to shove, she reached her limit. The twists were everywhere, so between all of my tears (yes there were many), I was dropping so many f-bombs and/or colorful metaphor name calling! Seriously, I wanted to hurt him, or Dallas to hurt him, but alas, I'm not sure she ever gave him enough grief. And that ending, sigh, that ending, well I'm getting upset all over again, so I'm going to end this emotional review with HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDING TO ALL.

Kinda a blast from the past

Jessie Cooke is kinda telling the story from the past in the middle of the series for the Skulls... I have to say Dallas' story is kinda sad... I balled my eyes out at the end even knowing from Dax's story how hers would end... I was sorta surprised that Doc's story didn't follow through to his death but I guess if I remember correctly Dax's story starts or has some of the end of Doc too... I was a little confused by the mother of Gunner... I thought Doc took up with her a bit after Dallas died but that was Hawk's version which wasn't quite the truth... I thought Hawk also said he was saving some girl but she got killed and Doc blamed him... But again that's not a part of this story... Death when it happens is seldom with time to spare, I think this most people are left unprepared even if they have years of decline first but car accidents, sudden deaths like heart attack, stroke, or other sudden illness, and unfortunately suicide are all harder because you will have regrets and second guessing that adds to the remorse. This story makes you fall for Dallas then she is a victim that you know is going to happen if you read her son's story... To me this should be Dallas not Doc because he still has more to his story and its not really a happy ending really for either of them....

Doc Marshall tells the early history of the MC, Southside Skulls. It is a journey through the history starting from the Vietnam war. I would even go a bit further and say the reading was a lot like nonfiction. The author put a lot of thought in the details and timeline. So it overall had a documentary like feeling.
Doc Marshall is powerful, raw, unapologetic, smart and sheer male perfection. You may not agree with his choices everytime but he will do what he has to.Dallas was my favorite character! She is partner of Doc in ever way and yet she had a lot of suffering. The ending was painful and sad. The author did not try to sugercoat the inner workings of a Motorcycle club to present a softer version. That was really brave and brilliant. Everything in the story is real deal - love, hate, sex, passion, crime, power games and manipulations.
Doc Marshall has many side characters. Each of them had their own flaw and beauty. Again they are very detailed and complex. It is not a pure Romance. It is not about happily ever after. It is a real, gritty and intriguing story of a Motorcycle club and it's members. A very different and interesting read!

Coyote Lee: Skulls The Early Years by Jessie Cooke is book two in her Skulls MC Romance series. Every story is aboutr another couple and could easily be read as standaloen. For better understanding I recommend to read the books in order. The previous book is Doc Marshall. Yes, there are cross-overs to other books in Jessie Cooke's series'.
Xander Lee - Coyote- is a hard and rough biker. He had to grow up fast, has no social skills but is devoted to his MC. He's in love with his prez's old lady - a man who he hates and loves at the same time. Forced to leave, he founds a new chapter, becomes preident, falls in love and starts a family. But Coyote Lee isn't a MC romance with a HEA. No , this book is raw and gritty, it's honest to a fault and paints the MC lifestyle not in a pink shiny light.
Coyote's story spans decades, the writing is excellent and I connected very easily with the characters. Coyote Lee is a story about love, loss, life, mistakes, courage, betrayal and addiction wrapped up in a captivating story that I couldn't put down. I greatly enjoyed redaing the book and give 4,5 stars.
