Liz
I’m an eighteen-year-old high school graduate who has just experienced my first… well, everything. I would give anything to hold on to Cooper, but we made a decision. After thirty hours of falling in lust, we’re parting ways. I’m starting college and can’t be distracted. Besides, he has his own life to get back to.

Cooper
The moment I saw her I knew she was the one, but what my heart wants it doesn’t get. I know how life works. I’ve been fighting most of my life. My dad was a fighter, and so was his dad. I watched my mom cheat on him, and in return, he destroyed her. I will never do that to a woman. I get thirty hours with Liz and then we’re both walking away. At the end of the day, all we’ll have are the memories we have created here in Miami.
***
Five years later, Liz runs into Cooper, only he has no idea that memories weren’t the only thing they created in Miami. He broke her heart once the day he left and now she’s guarded.

Will he succeed in winning her heart over a second time? The only thing he knows for sure is that he’s fighting for a second chance, and this time, he won’t let her go that easily.

This is what I like to refer to as an "impulse read". I was browsing around and saw this and decided to take the plunge.

This is your classic second chance story. Boy meets girl, spends the next 30 hours having sex and falling for her, leaves on a flight with just a note to say goodbye and regrets not getting contact info. Little did he know, he left more than just her behind. Fast forward 5 years and a second chance encounter is born.

Cooper, for being a successful fighter, was very down on himself. He was basing what he thought he deserved or could give to others, on the mistakes his parents made. He almost lost the two most important people in his life because he couldn't get his head on straight. The pushing away because of his insecurities got tiresome, but it was great to see him finally show emotional growth.

Liz was actually a very likable heroine. She was young when she met Cooper (18 and in a bar with a fake ID) She was sad when she woke up to his note. I appreciated that when she found out she was pregnant, she tried hard to locate Cooper but had no luck. I'm glad she did try though. I also liked that even though she didn't prolong it, she did put Cooper in his place about his "ping pong" feelings.

-decent hero who, although he had insecurities, finally pulled it out and went after what he wanted
-likable heroine - for a younger heroine I though she showed maturity when needed
-pushing away -
-no ow/om
-No cheating
-good secondary characters - loved little Bella and her spunkiness. Liv's friend Kayla was a great friend, but I'm not sure how she will be as a heroine. His friends from the gym seemed ok
-just ok epilogue that was a lead into book 2

**Book 2 is out and is about Liv's friend Kayla and Cooper's friend Bentley. Frankly, Kayla was great as a friend but she was horrible heroine material. Bentley, for him wanting Kayla, he APPEARED to be still with other women-even bringing one home while Kayla was staying with him. AND, bringing a "guest" to Christmas. Wtf? You don't try to get a woman's attention by dangling OW in their face. You'll get attention, but most likely not the kind you were seeking. I am holding off until I hear about that couple. I don't want to read about her pushing him away the whole book.

If I could just write that I really, really, liked this book, liked it so much I loved it, then I would. But I highly doubt that would help anyone, and the runner of the blog I review for, wouldn't like it. But I can't find the words to explain exactly how I feel about this one.

It was sweet, but it wasnt.
It was nice, but not.
It was easy, but hard.
It was just crazy amazing.

Lizabeth, or Liz, is finally graduating high school. Soon enough her and her best friend, Kayla, will be spending some time in Miami before they head to Vegas for college and to start their new lives. Not being the partying time, but more of the book nerd, all she wants to do is lounge around the pool and read. But Kayla has different plans. A wild night out drinking with fake ID's and partying is exactly what Kayla thinks Liz needs. Even with being unsure, Liz goes along with it. She finds herself on the dance floor of one of the hottest clubs, only because they were invited in by someone from VIP. Next thing you know, she is in the arms of the stranger from VIP, Cooper. With the first look, she's lost.

Cooper is instantly drawn to Liz. Lust at first sight. So he invites her and Kayla up to join him and his friends. He finds out, neither of them will be in Miami long, he's there for work, she's there for play, so they decide to make the most of the thirty hours they will have. Not knowing those thirty hours and their meeting, will change the course of so many lives. Not exchanging full names, or contact information, they each go their separate ways. Not being able to keep each other off their minds, they know what has to happen when they meet again by chance. But one of them isn't ready for it all.

Second chance romances are my favorite, and Fighting For A Second Chance, has just moved up the list to become on or my faves. This book has so many different aspects, twists, turns, and heartaches.

Liz is such a strong young lady with amazing head on her shoulders. She goes through one of the toughest things, and does it with pride, strength, courage, and faith. She doesn't let anything stop her or bring her down. If she was a real person, I would want to shake her hand.

Cooper! Oh em gee, Cooper! There are book boyfriends, and then there is Cooper. His strength, his heart, his determination, his passion, his bullshit, his insecurities, his troubled past, everything is just perfect. Perfect, because it makes him, HIM! Definitely book boyfriend, scratch that, book husband, worthy. Everyone should meet Cooper.

NOT FOR ME

Second chance romance is not my thing but when you have a guy who is a wam bam thank you mam kind a guy leaving the heroine without any contact information. Well he is a dick and he doesn't deserve my time or consideration.

Others enjoy but I don't find it romantic and I don't want to read about it.

Hope others enjoy it!
Happy reading!

This is the debut novel from Nikki Ash and I thought it was well crafted. I enjoyed the storyline, the hero/ heroine and also some very promising secondary characters that I am very intrigued with for reading in the future.

Liz met Cooper when she was on her last vacation before heading to college. The moment they met they were instantly attracted to each other. The lovebirds were having a fun time – one thing lead to another and Liz ended up spending the night with Cooper. But soon after, Cooper went home without leaving his contact information. Other than a few sweet gifts he sent to Liz’s hotel, he disappeared without a trace to follow his dream. But what he did not realize was that he left more than one broken heart behind.

Fast forward 5 years, Liz ran into Cooper and all the memories came rushing back. Liz has some resentment toward Cooper but for the most part she still has feelings for him and wants to build a relationship. Cooper is now an MMA fighter well on his way to success. But something has always been missing in his life – Liz (the girl that got away). He regrets putting his career first. Can he win Liz’s trust and her heart again?

Liz and Cooper have a difficult road ahead laced with trust and insecurity issues from both of their pasts. The sparks and the chemistry is still there but they have to learn to live together, trust each other and fall in love. For the most part, I love these two characters. Cooper is pretty much a hot, sexy alpha – a little broken but once he comes around he is very protective of his girls. Liz has been through a quite a bit on her own but she is smart, strong, and a determined young lady. I only find it a little unrealistic for Liz to not have any intimate relationship with anyone for 5 years, especially after only the one night stand with Cooper. I think what they had was not deep enough for her to be unable to connect with another person on a physical level. But who knows – she had a busy life after Cooper, and if I was left on my own to deal with the aftermath I’d probably close my legs for a long while too :) :)

Overall, I was impressed with this debut story – full of humor, heart-warming, sexy second chance love story that kept me captivated the whole way through. I am very interested in reading about Kayla and Bentley – I am a sucker for angsty romance and I can feel load of angst coming from these two.

Sport romance (fighter)/ Second chance romance. Nicely done!

First off the story was great and the characters were amazing. Liz and cooper meet in Miami after she graduates high school. She goes with her best friend Kayla. I love Kayla, her personality is amazing. Their relationship is so great and their love for each other is perfect. Cooper knows Liz is the one as soon as she looks at her.

⭐️ 4.5 "Baby Girl" Stars ⭐️
I discovered Nikki Ash in 2018 when she released Heath, a co-written book with K. Webster. Since then, I’ve read a few of her most recent books and fell even more in love with her writing. I decided to read some of her back list novels starting with the Fighting Series and OMG… what a great decision it was. Fighting for a Second Chance was such an enjoyable read!

Liz and Cooper’s dynamic, even though it’s insta-lust / insta-love was really believable and powerful from their first meeting! One shared night changed their lives forever when they created the most precious little girl, Bella. The thing is that after their one magical night together, they separated without any way to find each other. Five years later, they meet again by chance and their second chance at love starts!

Cooper is the perfect specimen of a man with an alpha personality mixed with a very caring side. As much as he feels the special bond with Liz even years later, he’s plagued with doubts and fears ingrained in him from his upbringing. He has a long way to completely trust the woman of his dreams and it creates some friction between the couple with misunderstandings. The moments shared with his little girl had me swooning hard. Let me tell you that Bella is one of the most endearing child characters I had the pleasure to read about. There’s just something about her that had me smiling and laughing from her cute actions or remarks. She really stole the show for me! Liz and her friendship with Kayla was just so amazing too. The girl truly has a fantastic and supportive friend and I’m intrigued about her own story with Bentley ;)

Nikki Ash is seriously becoming one of my favorite go-to authors when I’m looking for a sweet and steamy romance! I’m so glad I picked up this brilliant book and I’m more than ready to dive into the other stories of this series! I know I’ll love them because I’m already addicted to this world and all its characters.

🎧 Audiobook Review 🎧

Oh boy... This book was so sweet and such a feel good kind of story, that I felt in love with them.

It's interesting that Liz is the young one between them, but she's also the one emotionally mature, cause she came from a loving and stable family. So when she gets pregnant at 18, she still goes to college and raise her kid with her best friend.

Copper on the other hand is a sweetheart until his insecurities start to tarnish his thoughts. He didn't have the same supportive family that Liz had, and his view of relationships is very distorted.

I liked how she showed him how things should be between a couple/family, based on instinct alone, cause he was her first and ONLY everything... She never dated or even kissed anybody else. To be honest, that felt a little unrealistic to me, but I think it fitted the narrative, cause in the end, she was the same rock to him that her bestie was to her.

There's a few small things that bothered me a little along the book, but nothing that ruined the story for me, and I'll definitely be listening to the next one!

The Narration was great!

I am not big on second chance romance, every once in a while book we’ll catch my eye and then I end up loving it, Fighting for second chance did it for me. Such a well written And great story. That I really liked.

Liz and her best friend, Kayla, finally graduate high school, then head To Miami for a vacation before moving to Vegas for College. Kayla talks Liz into a night of clubbing with there fake I.D.s. While On the dance floor, she is invited to the V.I.P. Section by a handsome stranger named Cooper.

Copper sees Liz, and it is lust a first sight. He is there for work; she is there to Play. They decide to make the most if there time tougher and spend the next thirty hours together. Fast forward five years later, and They Still Can't get Each other Off their minds.

Liz goes through one of the toughest times in her life and comes through the other side. She is a strong woman, and I love seeing a strong woman in a book.

Cooper, MMA fighter (the reason I read the book, I miss sports, ) who has baggage with his family. Has a kind heart, passion, and determination.

There was empty plot stories with Kayla and Bentley but this what there is book two to Read there story.

It would be a 4 stars if not for the cliches and the drama and a the amount of importance given to the female mc best friend. It annoyed me to no end and I could not relate to that friendship. I appreciate the fact she was there to help female mc through her pregnancy and the first 4 years of the little girl's life. But at some point it made me feel the bff was more important than the male mc and that didn't sit right with me. Just MY OPINION
I recommend this book for those who wants a low angst second chance romance with a baby in the mix. It's also a big plus the female mc tried to find the hero to tell him. She really tried. So it's not a case of hiding the baby on purpose or selfish reasons. This for me is really a big plus.

I was given an ARC of Fighting For a Second Chance in return for an honest review. Reviewing on behalf of Triple B's Book Blog.

Nikki Ash has definitely delivered a fabulously good debut book!
In fact, I'd say it's easily one of the best debut novels I have had the pleasure of reading this year!
I literally could not put it down. I devoured it!
It had everything I look for in a second chance romance.
The story starts with Liz who is eighteen, just graduated from high school and off on holiday with her best friend Kayla.
They have been the best of friends since kindergarten but are polar oppisites, Kayla is the life and soul of the party, out going, popular, where as Liz is much more reserved.
On their first night away Kayla gets Liz to go to a club with her.
There she meets Cooper.
It's insta lust!......or should that be insta love?
They agree to spend thirty hours together before parting ways, never to see each other again.
Liz is in no place to start a relationship, she is off to college.
Cooper may think she is 'the one' as soon as he sets eyes on her but he has watched his parents destroy each other, has a career he has fought hard for for the last 10yrs so has no place for a relationship.
Memories will have to be enough for the both of them...........
Only memories aren't the only reminder of their time together for one of them!
They both can't forget the other but have no way of finding one another.....until four years and three months later when they happen to come across one another completely by chance.
What comes next is.............. Nope sorry not going to spoil it....you'll just have to read it for yourselves! ;)
What I will say is Fighting For A Second Chance had my eagerly turning the pages, sometimes with a smile, sometimes with a tear or two and sometimes anxiously!
I for one can not wait to see what Nikki writes next!
A good author has you feeling the characters emotions and that is exactly what Nikki succeeded in doing with not only Cooper and Liz but all the secondry characters too!

A fun one night stand turns into so much more for Liz and Cooper.
After graduating hs Kayla and her bff Liz get a week vacation to Miami before hitting the books at college in las Vegas. Liz, would be happy cuddled up with her iPad reading a good book not much of a party girl, but knows how much Kayla wants to get wild with her so she lets her friend take her out and prays the fake id's Kayla got them both doesn't get them caught. Not allowing Liz to wear her own comfy clothes, she makes her get a little black dress, but Liz feels alil out of her league.
Getting to the buzzing nightclub they get to the back of the line wondering if they'll ever get inside. Just then a bored bouncer comes up explaining that a VIP member named Cooper has invited them inside the VIP section. The giddy teens get inside and the bass starts carrying them away on the dance floor. Rubbing against another, in tune with the music not caring about a thing, Liz still thinking Kayla is the one grinding behind her , then realizing those hands are too big to be hers.
Introducing himself as Cooper, he's not able to keep his eyes off her curves, and she's feeling wetter the tighter he holds on to her. Finishing the dance they make there way up to the VIP area, Cooper placing Liz directly on his lap, drinking and flirting the night away with Kayla joining, an meeting Coopers buddies. Liz and Cooper spend the night together, but Cooper is a complete gentleman to Liz as Kayla shacks up with one of Cooper's mma buddies.

“If I come in, it would only be to sleep next to you. You have drunk too much for us to do anything else. When I take you, I want you to be clear headed and remember everything my body makes yours feel.”

The next day Cooper and Liz spend the day together, and that night, with Liz losing her virginity to him. As Cooper being an mma fighter only in Miami for business needing to leave the next day, Liz is okay with it, knowing it would never work , with her schooling and life just starting out .

----------------- SPOILER ALERT-------------------

4 weeks later Liz gets a bug throwing up like crazy, just as her an Kayla get settled in las Vegas, and she goes to the Dr. Finding out she's not sick but pregnant!! With a man she knows nothing about not even his last name! Things get darker as Cooper fights his inner demons proving to himself he's nothing like his father, and what went on through the years wasn't always what they seemed. After some ugly scars come to the surface, The truth is revealed, and there is a happily ever after. I really liked the storyline itself, but I think there was some things that could have been left out to shorten it up some. Was a crazy twist that I didn't see coming, ill definitely say that! 3 Stars for Steamy scenes

This is the debut novel from Nikki Ash and I was just taken by this story and these characters from the beginning.

This was a fab take on a second chance romance, one that really struck me because there was no fault to be found in either party to why they ended up in the situation they did but it was how they dealt with what came next really amped up the story.

Cooper is a MMA fighter he is all tough on the outside but personally his self esteem in regards to relationships is shot to hell, he is a true alpha caveman character and we all love those, Right?

Liz is young and finds herself in a situation that she can't control, she has to do what she can to get herself through college and with the help of her best friend.

When Cooper and Liz reconnect some years later, sparks fly and the chemistry is undeniable between the two.

This books reads well and has good flow and content which is steamy in places and is plenty angsty to keep those pages turning.

*I was given an ARC for an honest review*

I am very impressed with this debut novel by Nikki Ash. I love the way the story line developed and how the characters grew up. Not too angsty and there is no predictable drama which is quite refreshing. Although there is a 5 year jump between Liz and Cooper's initial meeting/"more than one night stand" the missing years were later on explained further along the book. The supporting characters made this book more interesting and I suspect the next book may have more tears involved? I can't wait to find out what happens to Kayla and Bennett. It's a four and a half stars from me!

I loved this book! Liz just graduated high school goes with her best friend Kayla to Miami. Liz ends up going to a club and meeting Cooper and they have a 30 hour fling. But what happens when 4 years go by and they end up seeing each other again at a UFC fight? Will Liz tell Cooper the secret she's holding? Will Cooper put his trust and faith in Liz? Such a great book I loved Cooper how he fights for what he wants. I loved Liz such a strong, beautiful woman. Can't wait to read more to this series! 5/5 fighting stars *** I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book ***

As debut novels go this is one of the best I've ever read and is now one of my favourite second chance romances. Liz and Cooper are both fantastic characters and their story is one that will suck you in completely. It not only has the romance, it also has some twists thrown in that I would never have seen coming in a million years. I read this book in one sitting and I haven't done that in a long time.
The secondary characters are also great and a can't wait to read their stories.
Highly recommend this one to all fans of romance.

I'm not a fan of being told what's happening and this is what was happening through Cooper and Liz's story! But it was a solid debut from Nikki Ash! I'm going to give Kayla's story a try when that's released later this month!

I can only cross my fingers and hope that Bentley doesn't mess that up by waving more women in Kayla's face because she dented his ego!

It wouldn't be the best way to convince someone that love exists......by showing them how easily they are replaced!

Wow did Ms Nikki out do herself when writing this amazing story. Through her writing I was drawn into the characters of Cooper and Liz. Liz and Cooper each have their own secrets and have to learn to have faith and trust in each other to bring out the best in themselves. 5 stars is simply not enough, wish the book never ended.

Can't wait to see what Ms Nikki has next.
