Transformation #1

Transformation

Rate this book
One more Russian LitRPG book, that became the real leader of several most-popular self-publishing sites of Russsia.
The 1st place winner of the literary contests: "RealRPG", "Cyberpank&Science fiction" .
All the three books of the series became top-5 of bestsellers in 2017-2018 years at www.litnet.com.
There are planned 5 books of the series "Transformation".

If you like to read books about fire-breathing giant creatures, dark elves reigned absolute and unchallenged, the money-grubbing dwarfs and powerful dragons–all of them you will meet at the pages of Transformation.

The familiar world collapsed overnight. As the Transformation progressed, disasters occurred throughout the Earth. Materials changed their properties, new species of flora and fauna appeared. The Game converted our world into a huge dungeon, completely replacing the previous civilization.
However, the alien plans for Earth began to go awry from the very beginning. The conversion was less successful than expected. An ordinary young man stole the bonus for the first gaming action, depriving the invaders of their perk.
How can he manage the situation? Which of the aliens will become his ally? Which ones are his enemy? Dare they rebel against the all-powerful invaders, regain their land and even create a new world?

P.S. The book was edited for one more time and now it's much better. Enjoy your reading!

There must be some serious translation issues in this book, because the first part of the book was just fine (up to around chapter 10 or so), after that, things just got strange, and by the end, it was downright odd. It starts out interestingly enough, but by the end, there's just too much that doesn't make any sense. The main character is so overpowered it's not even funny, and more over, he has no clue what the heck he's doing. You might think this combination would make for interesting reading, and it might if the story flowed well, but in this case, it just gets off teh beaten track, and goes farther afield as it goes. Not to say the story is a complete loss, no, never that, it's an ok story, but I think if a better translation was done, it could easily be an excellent story, the concept is sound enough, and the story could easily be one you'd cheer for, and wish for more, but honestly, I just can't work up any enthusiasm for this series if they're all like this one. I'm fairly certain I won't be continuing with this series, because it's just too random to hold together as a whole.

What's russian for "Mary Sue"? What's russian for "special little snowflake"?

Mary Sue:
So you have a 15 year old who's good at everything. He's in perfect shape, and his physicist dad coaches him at 2 types of martial arts everyday before breakfast. He's also an excellent shot, and goes often to the shooting range to practice.

Oh, and he's also very well adjusted and articulate. You should see the paragraphs of moralizing speech he gives when asked to betray someone! And what do you know, that also gives him amazing rewards. Everything gives him amazing rewards.

Special little snowflake:
By chance, he's one of the few who don't get knocked out by the magic that transforms the entire planet. And again, by chance, he's the person who gets the first kill bonus on the newly transformed dungeon planet, which is a big deal-- and he gets it twice in a row, for whatever contrived reason. It gives him a boatload of cash, which he uses to buy some amazing items that no one else has ever tried to buy before, or whatever.

Blergh.

Seriously, this thing is trash. Don't try it.

Unreadable

While the translation is horrible, the under lying story is terribly written also. Entire chapters have to be missing. The only other explanation would be the author didn't feel like writing them. 5 star reviews were paid for or illiterates have given them.

Don't waste your time.

One breath reading!
At the beginning, it was rather difficult to identify myself with the main hero. He is rather young (15 years) and all what he starts doing – he manage with very quickly and easy.
First it seemed to me that there was smth wrong with the story. But the text was fed up by action, dangerous adventures and mysteries of New Transformed World, there were a lot interesting second plan heroes, which seemed alive and extraordinary. So, I didn’t even understand that the book was over!
My feelings were mixed after finishing the book. But, any case, it’s worth reading.
Valery Starsky id rather popular in Russia and he has several real good books. Transformation is his the most popular series. The book has thousands of fans.
So don’t waste time reading this))) Go and read the book!

Another Book Character Overpowered From The Start

I have gone five years and only found one book I could not finish. Now I have found two in a week. Why do some of these authors always have to overpower their characters from the start and they don’t earn things. This book is the worst so far for it. Not very imaginative.

It makes the book nearly unreadable, it’s like going into a test and knowing most of the answers.

Fanstic spin on litrpg storytelling

I have read many litrpg novels over the last few years(don't get me wrong I'm no expert on litrpg, just like getting lost from RL once and a while in reading books),and can say this author has a original spin on the subject. While litrpg books are enjoyable most authors stick to the same mode of storytelling, while this book is as true as others the spin in the way the story unfolds and the carractor is oringally different.I also recommend Michael chatfield as a author who also has a different but enjoble spin of the litrpg universe storytelling

Worst attempt at litrpg I've ever seen

The main character is overpowered but not even in a clever or fun way just lucky and stupid. The dialogue is stilted which can be explained by being the authors nonnative language and yet it's the best part of the book. The combat is stilted the quests are nonsensical and the plot is uninspired. It's a bit cliche but honestly one star is too many for this book.

I started this, but after just a few chapters the numerous translation problems were bugging me. Pass for now.

It's my book. So I like it ))))
Transformation was written on December 2017 in Russia. I've published the book at several most popular Russian self-publishing sites and it was a surprise for me, but it became #1in a few days. It is still stay popular there.
For this year the book was read more than 1 000 000 times. There were hundreds of reviews: as thanksgiving,so as crushing ones. But still there were no indefferent readers.

A good read! You can tell English isn't the author's native language by the diction and structure, but to me that just adds a bit more fun to the whole thing. Honestly, reminded me a bit of when I first read AlterWorld which reinforced my fun reading mood.

I've already read the original novel, and I'd recommend it to any lover of LitRPG genre. Some things I especially love about this story - a world with well-developed system of rules, smart interesting main character, and many plot twists.
Without any spoilers, it's a struggle of people in an apocalyptic world, full of dark elves and majestic dragons. I guess you'll also enjoy it.

A great book. Fun fast paced apocalyptic survive and thrive. Engagingly written and left me really looking forward to the new twists and amazingly well conceived and expressed story. A must read for litrpg fans.

Epic, just epic!

Wow, wow
What a wonderful world building.
Man o man, I just loved this.
The premise is awesome!
I loved all the RPG elements too, they are just too awesome.
And the way the story flowed it was smooth as butter.
I will be looking forward to read the second one in the February!

I listened to the audiobook version of this. The dialog in this book is often eye rolling bad. It feels like the MC is 10 years old and spouts off random garbage that he thinks make him sound heroic or Noble. This could be a translation problem but I suspect some of the dialog is just that bad regardless of what language it's in. If you can get past that and are into overpowered MCs that don't have to work hard for that power then this is worth the read.

I couldn't finish it.

The Dark Yawn, who talks and even internal monologues like a bad wuxia character, is nominally an incredibly handsome Russian teenager. Women want him, or hide behind him for protection, if not both. Men respect him. Despite being a nominal teenager, he seems to really enjoy smoking a cigar and drinks champagne like its a sports drink. The power creep isn't a creep so much as a sprint. It isn't enough to get some gold coins - things are rapidly millions of gold coins. Everything is the most expensive.

Just too much Marty Sue'ing going on. I had to stop.

Great book!

I loved this book's plot, MC and magical systems so much that I bought it i stead of rereading it on Unlimited. I hoped to help the author get the rest of the series translated more quickly. The translation is not perfect but there is a charm to the word choices and sentence structures that helps to underscore this is a Russian MC. I hope to see that this 'voice' remain s constant in the translations of the rest of this series.

Translation

It’s tough, you can tell the translation is a bit iffy and makes everything a bit off but honestly, I still enjoyed the book. I wish the translation was better but hey, what can you do. I’ll definitely be reading the next, and although I’m sure I should take a star off... I’m not. I hope he can earn enough to start paying for proper translations because he deserves to get his work out there.

GREAT GAME Lit RPG story

A pretty kool take on teotwawki genre mixed with game lit,a good helping of magic lore and you get this, wonderful read.
THE Storyvreally takes off, well written but some of the translation to English from Russian can be a bit confusing and probably looses the flow in translation just a wee bit.
I love the story and totally recommend this to anyone who likes sci-fi.
I can't wait for the 2nd installment

The story was great but the syntax and sentence structure for English was lacking. I have seen this in Japanese translations too. whoever translated this has taken the words literally and have not filled in the descriptive so the sentence is complete.
Saying this I still enjoyed the different take on the story and will follow the series, it only gets hard to read when you have to fill in the blanks as the translation skips descriptions and some actions.

Kinda good

The main problem is that there is a lot lost in translation. The grammar is totally fine, but sometimes I have no idea what is being said, like there's missing context or setup. A couple times I had to skip entire paragraphs because they were nonsense to me. Its also hard to tell sometimes exactly where the character is. "Did he leave the plane yet, or just thinking about it? Is he just standing on the tarmac, or is he already in the forest? Did he forget to do X or is the author just skipping it for brevity?"

That being said. It was still an interesting read, and I still recomend it, just be aware you may not know exactly what is happening moment-to-moment.

Interesting premise, and the story has potential. But it needs a good editor and a possibly a better translation. I'm not sure how much of the confusing and jumpy writing is from the original author and how much is from the translation, but it was giving me a headache trying to follow it all.
The narrative needs to slow down and give the story time to develop and give things more context. Stuff just happens, one thing right after another, with very little context or transition. It would also help if the mc didn't feel like a Mary Sue, good at everything and everything just works out great for him.
DNF. 44% of the way through before I had to give up

Very good story edited badly

The story line itself is awesome. I love the whole feel of it. That said the editing makes this book almost unreadable, and it just gets worse as the book continues. The author needs to find a good translator service and a damn good editor to fix this. It's horrible when you have a 5 star story like this and the translation and editing are so bad it drops it down to one star. To be honest though they are both so bad that I would give 0 stars if I could.

Interesting premise

If one takes the vagaries of translated books in hand, one must look at the story above sometimes stilted phraseology. The story is of a boy, Yaroslav, who lost his parents whilst his world was taken over by a galactic empire was intriguing. The world underwent a double transformation making it even more dangerous. Yar begins to adventure meeting incredible companions on the way and plumbing untold depths. Look forward to next book. Minor editing errors noted that do not greatly detract from reading.

Translation needs work.

This book had promise, and certainly has a lot of world building behind it. Unfortunately the translation from Russian into English leaves a lot to be desired. The dialogue between characters is awkward. Character development is nonsensical. And the plot is difficult to discern. I think the author is telling a really good story but the translation limits the story’s impact.

World transforms into a dungeon. the MC is one of the "heroes" and fights against the system.
1) there are a lot of bad translations. Some sentences don't even make sense.
2) the mc is OP before the game even starts and after that is overloaded with gifts and stuff. Every loot is valuable, every person is nice to him - grants him stuff and more.
If everything works in your way there is no tension left.
