That's why she opened the only no-kill shelter in town, and she was damn proud of that fact. They currently had one vacant position, left by her alcoholic ex-boyfriend. After him, she promised herself she wouldn't get involved with co-workers ever again. But when she saw him, the words lodged in her throat, right along with her heartbeat.
Holy cover model, Batman. This guy was gorgeous.
He was tall, lean, and corded with muscle. He looked like a serious athlete, though something told her that he was one of those fortunate few that never had to work out to get good muscle tone. She felt an intense desire to strip him of that shirt and taste every inch of his yummy-looking torso, from happy trail to clavicle.
But he had his own secrets.
Maybe she wouldn't freak out if he ever showed her his wolf form? And then again, maybe she'd run screaming in the opposite direction. Not every human had the temperament to deal with the life they lived. But none of that mattered because he knew it for a fact.
He could feel it in his bones. She was his fated mate.

I'm just a girl from Houston with a knack for words. I love adding a dash of Paranormal into our world. I write about sexy shifters who are hard on their foes but melt for their mates. Alpha males who love to protect their women. My heroes are rough, tough shapeshifters who possess the soft heart that a woman yearns for.
Good short story but definitely needs more. Paxton Jr. finds his mate in an animal shelter. Bianca is gunshy after a bad breakup but takes to Pax rather quickly. An attack by a bear shifter leads to meeting the parents, one last whoopie session and end of book. WTF? Never buying from this author again.
I loved this story although it was way too short. The book involves Bianca a human who runs the animal shelter, a vicious ex who is determined to harm her, Paxton a wolf shifter who upon meeting Bianca knows she is his fated mate, and bear shifters who are stealing wolf cubs. The drama, intrigue, suspense and passion kept me glued to the pages. This story is incredibly entertaining with fascinating characters and a well-written storyline. I will definitely read the next book in this series. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Wonderful to read more about the Myre Falls Wolf Pack. Great storyline, with some dangerous situations, interesting characters and a fierce attraction that pulls Pax towards Bianca from the first time they meet. History seems to be repeating itself in this new story, allowing young Pax to find a human mate, just like his father. I enjoyed this book.
I really enjoyed this book! The characters are great and the romance is delightful. The storyline was well written, but it was way too short and has a cliffhanger! 😪 Hope the next book comes out soon !
This story was a bit fast paced, but it was still very enjoyable. I would like to thank the author for including a Bully Breed in the book without all of the awful stereotypes.
Everything started off really well; lots of potential leaning towards this being a pretty great story, but it felt incomplete. I had already gotten into the characters, and the storyline was getting interesting with the crazy ex, Jason. Things start to move quickly with Bianca and Pax. They have one awesome night of dating and love between the sheets right before finding out about Paxton's shifter abilities. However, the author just left me hanging with their story. What happens after Paxton takes Bianca to be protected by his pack? Do they accept her? What about all the trouble with the bears in wolf territory? Do they get the children back? How did Bianca handle the whole "you're my mate" thing? I always try to check first before I read a story to see if there's a possibility of cliffhangers, but I didn't notice a warning...unless I overlooked it. Maybe the author felt like she'd written a complete story, but it was definitely lacking the HEA, or even HFN that I look for in my romances. Then there was the first few chapters of another story added to the end, and again I was left with feeling very unsatisfied by an incomplete book. It's a shame because I think I could have really enjoyed either of these stories.
This was a promising premise fallen flat. I liked the idea of a shifter working at a rescue center. H and h have some flirting, there's a dangerous ex in the background, shifter rivalries... lots of good pieces that could have made for a good (or at least decent) paranormal romance novel.
And then nothing gets resolved. They get together, then are packing up for action, new plot development, and then... done. On to previews of other books in the series.
I have nothing against serial stories. They just need to be up-front about things at the beginning. If it's not truly a stand-alone, please label it appropriately. One of my biggest peeves is reading something, getting pulled in, and then .... BOOM. Character falls off a cliff and book ends. (Yes, really did have that happen in one read).
On a second note, bad editing irritates me no end. Pulls me out of the story. If a story is in 3rd person, then spends a full paragraph in 1st person... that's bad editing, Simple thing that should have been caught by SOMEONE during a proofread.
So, yeah, despite the cliffhanger ending, not picking up any more in this series.
If you want desire, steamy love scenes and a wonderful love story, look no further. Anastasia Chase has a delightful way of bringing characters to life and giving them irresistible human and real life qualities. You will not be able to put this down until you finish, it leaves you drooling for more!
Paxton and Bianca's story is a very quick read. I needed more when it ended. It almost felt like I was just getting to the good part when it ended. Look forward to see where this series goes. Would love to know what happens.
The ending is why I can not give this book more stars. Paxton was drawing me in with the fated mates, the mean ex, the challenges, and then nothing. Felt like too much of a cliffhanger
