Broken is the first installment in the My Broken Hitman series by Talia Ellison. Broken is filled with action, romance, suspense, you name it. It will have you completely hooked from beginning to end.
Chiara does not want the gang life but it is the life she has. She is fiercely protective of her family and her best friend, Vix. Confident and not afraid to stand her ground.
Theo comes across as closed off, rough around the edges, and unemotional. He was living on the streets when he was younger before he was saved by a local gang leader which lead him to become the man he is. A hitman.
Last time Theo and Chiara saw each other, he swore to kill her if he saw her again. So when they see each other at a club, she thinks this is it. Does Theo really have it in him to kill her?
I was not disappointed with the story or the characters but I am not a fan of cliffhangers. Yes, I said, cliffhanger. If you love cliffys then this is the book for you. I will definitely be reading book two as soon as it comes out! I need to know how it ends! 4.5 stars.

One word sums it all up: cheesy. Protagonists from rival mafia gangs fall in love. There must have been a previous book with the story of their meeting, because we come into this in the middle, with Theo supposedly having sworn to kill Chiara because she killed the woman who was his surrogate mother and gang boss. Speaking of, these gangs have the cheesiest names - the Cobras, the Spiders, Rosa Nera, and a Panther at the end. Tired old push-me-pull-you romance tropes with "It's not you, it's me" and "I'm not good enough for you" yada yada, then they promptly have sex in the next scene. The writing is so corny it's painful, reading like kids playing at being bad guys. At least the sex scenes were tolerable, though still cheesy. The only reason I finished this was for a reading challenge. I've certainly read worse, so I'm giving this 2 stars instead of 1.

In case anyone else misses it this is a Cliff Hanger. I knew that going in even though I rarely read cliff hangers. I'm torn between giving this story 3 or 4 stars. Because there are some excellent parts to the story, I ended up giving it 4. The story starts off with a lot of questions concerning the gangs and the characters and you have to pick it up as you go and even then not all of the background ever comes to light. The cliffhanger is also more of a draw to the next book rather than leaving this story hanging.

Missed oppurtunity
This book had alot of potential but for me it missed the mark. I felt as if it needed a prequel to explain about the gang as it was mentioned as if we knew what it was. The story of Theo was very interesting but we don't learn his background until more than half way through the book. I love a bad ass female which Chiara is but again more background needed. The cliff hanger makes me want to read the next book if I can get it for free.

Just to give you the heads up this ends on a cliffhanger so if you don't like them wait until the whole series is out, then start reading them. I was not sure about this one at first it was a little slow for me but once it picked up I was hooked it was really good and I cannot wait for the next book

I had never read a romance/action novel about a hitman before and I was very impressed! I never knew what was going to happen next. I was afraid of losing a character I cared for and also feared their love wasn't real! This book has suspense, drama and romance, you should check it out!
