Not all soulmates are created equal. Some of them are relieved to find each other. Some build a relationship nice and slow. And for some of them it’s that all consuming, love-at-first-sight kind of magic, like my twin sister Tegan and her other half, Tennessee.
Then there are some where the girl is so up in her head and freaked the hell out that she actually, sorta, kinda, resents the guy who’s supposed to bring her happiness simply for his mere existence.
AKA. ME.
It’s time for me to be the soulmate Deacon deserves, even if it means trading in my cowgirl boots for designer stilettos. But Manhattan is a huge, terrifying city full of a society of witches determined to tear us apart.
A chapter into The Fire Witch and I remembered how much I love the writing in this series. Chandelle LaVaun's Coven world is so fascinating. It's creative and full of possibilities. The characters are wonderful and the friendships between them are strong. Those are just some of the reasons this has become one of my favorite series.
After the events of the last book, this one slows the pace down a bit. This companion novel follows Emersyn and Deacon to New York. The two soulmates are slowly building their relationship now that Emersyn is ready to take a chance with him. However, his uppity family and scheming friends might drive a new wedge between them.
I was annoyed with the petty and unkind behavior of Deacon's family and 'friends'- and moreover, I was disappointed that Deacon didn't step up for Emersyn sooner. But when he did, I couldn't help but forgive him. Deacon and Emersyn's love is much different than Tegan and Tennessee's. It's not as natural or instantaneous. D and Em have a lot of differences and a lot to learn about each other. But the way things are going, these two show a lot of promise and the love is definitely there.
I loved the confidence Emersyn developed in this story, and I can't wait to continue reading in this world.
FYI - I try not give spoilers in my reviews. This is just my overall take. This was Emersyn's book to shine and she lit it up like a blazing inferno in true Emersyn style. This story nicely links this series to the coming ones, and it also previews to fallout of what went down on Samhain. You can't help but love Emersyn. She isn't as in your face as her twin Tegan, but she is no less badass. You get to see just how beautifully she's adapting to her role as the Emperess, although I doubt she'd be any less fierce no matter her rank. This story is also one of growth for Deacon; becoming the Devil, as well as finding his soulmate, is bringing out the best in him. The ending opens up so many exciting story possibilities so why stop reading now?
5 stars for The Fire Witch by Chandelle LaVaun. This is book seven in The Coven: Elemental Magic Series. This book focuses on Emersyn and Deacon. Their relationship has been off to a rocky start , but now they are on their way to New York to meet Deacon’s parents. To say this does not start off great would be an understatement. I wanted to smack Deacon upside his head and then throat punch his momma. However, Emersyn holds her own. I loved getting to see her character come into herself and have the confidence she needed. This book was just as good as the rest of the series. I was hoping to learn more about Tennessee but that did not happen. The demons let lose from the Gap being opened are recking havoc on the world , so I think the next books will be extremely interesting to see what happens.
Magic, Romance, excitement, adventure, teenage angst and so much more all wrapped up into one. I could not ask for more out of a series. I cannot wait for more To come.
This series just !keeps on!!! Wonderful characters. No noticeable editing or grammar errors! Worth your time to continue. Looking forward to the next book.
Nice book focused on Emersyn and Deacon. It marks the end of this series. I found this series to be remarkable. The characters are amazing, the world building is mind boggling, the camaraderie between the coven members is awesome. The fight scenes are epic. This series took its readers to wondrous lands where we met dragons, vampires, and fae, and even back in time to Salem during the witch trials. The coven members had trial after trial as they closed in on their primary goal of closing a gap between our world and the rest. This had to be done by a certain date so they were constantly on the go. But failure wasn't an option because the entire world was at risk of being over run by demons. Armed with determination, grit and magic they fought their way through it all to close the gap, but unfortunately thousands or maybe hundreds of thousands of demons escaped into our world. Now they're faced with saving the world from this new horror.
I highly recommend this series of books and the ones that follow.
The seventh book in the Coven Series is as good as the previous six and in some spots it is even better. The homecoming of Deacon and his soulmate Emm. is one that won't soon be forgotten. New York snobs beware !!! The fashion, The Clubs, Times Square and Demons don't mesh. I am so excited to start reading the next exciting series after this one and learning about the new schools and the students to come. I love these books and I hope that there will be more to come. We've already seen Demons, Vampires, Mermaids, the Fae, and some spirits along the way. This is a not to be missed series and you won't be sorry if you go ahead and buy it. I can't believe that our brave teenage witch's even ventured into time travel but it was not by choice. This series has everything, Forbidden love, lies with good intentions and many, many heroic actions. The writing is exceptional and the world building is the same.
Loved it !! It was great to see glimpses of the old gang from “The Coven Elemental Magic Series”. It carried on seamlessly from the big finale of closing the gap. Book.7. Gives us a chance to spend some time with Emersyn & Deacon and hopefully see if a love can develop or will Deaon’s parents and his old friends be the end of Emeryson ever wanting to be near him again. They are soulmates, she is destined to love him, but that doesn’t mean she can’t reject him first. Deacon takes Em home to meet his parents and introduce her to the people and world he grew up in New York. All he wants is for them all to love her as much as he does, unfortunately everything in life is never that easy. Em is new to this world and the world of magic. Emersyn May be the Empress but she grew up human, she knows nothing of the magical structure of Majors, Minors, Knights, Ace’s & wand’s, that are supposed to be the supporting act, to help the Coven. She fights Demons without a second thought, but this situation is scarier. Will she fail or prove who and what she is with her head held high. Chandelle LaVaun will always transport you to another time and place where there are Demons, Supernaturals, Mystery, Toe Curdling Suspense and much much more. She will manipulate your feelings, making you feel every single bit of emotion emitted from her characters, as if they are your own. She will give you sleepless nights as you desperately try and read her books in one go, as you don’t want to be torn away from her worlds. She deserves every one of these 5 stars, she has an incredible ability to transcend traditional ideas, rules & relationships. She is full of originality & vision. I never like leaving spoilers, as you should enjoy the experience yourself. So I hope this is enough to encourage you to dive into the world of Magic, Mystery, Quests, Demons, fantastic characters with a brilliant storyline.... I will certainly be waiting in anticipation for book.8.
This is the first book in the third season of The Coven series. We follow Emersyn (Tegan’s twin and the Empress of the Coven) The gap is closed and the Coven is trying to catch their breath when d Deacon (Emersyn’s soulmate) asks Emersyn to come home with him to meet his parents. She thought she was in a different world when she found out about the witchy world, Emersyn has no idea what she was walking into when she went to Manhattan. Emersyn always knew Deacon was rich, everyone knew that, but Emersyn wasn’t ready for just how rich his family and friends were. Or how snobbish and unwelcoming they could be. Enter the original mean girl with a crush and didn’t know how to accept no for an answer. Then there’s Deacon’s mother who only knows how to look down her nose at Emersyn’s southern upbringing. Deacon needs to decide if he’s going to allow his world to crush his soulmate, or if he’s going to stop how they treat Emersyn. As a decision is made New York is under attack by demons and Deacon’s friend find out just who they’ve been picking on.
This is an amazing start to the third season as we learn more about the quiet part of the twin witches. Highly recommended

4.25/5 This was the final story in the first series. It was a short story focused on two of the secondary characters from the main series. I really enjoyed this. The setting was very different from the rest of the books. I enjoyed seeing the insecurities of the characters and fully understood the bullying that was occurring. The only thing really not answered was why one of the characters acted the way they did. I know she apologized in the end, but there really wasn't a reason given. This is similar in my thinking to how the short story that opens the series leaves a giant unanswered question in the form of hope. It still hasn't been answered. This feels like a y0ung adult urban fantasy series. This story was based around the conflict of the female main interacting with the male main's family and 'friends' in the uber rich circles of NYC. There is teen angst and some light romance. There is some action as well. Essentially the story is simply the characters going about their lives and the struggles they have to communicate with each other.
I am so very happy with this book. Emerson has always been in the series, but not front and center like she is here. She always seemed so unsure, especially in her twin sister's shadow. We really get to see her grow into her power both personally and as a Card. Em gains a lot of confidence, and I love seeing the powerful witch she is, coming out as she kicks some serious Demon backside and takes on Deacon's family and friends. Em and Deacon also have a chance to address their relationship and depend their bond. We get glimpses of the other Cards, and learn more about the society of witches outside of the Coven. This book really broadened the horizon of the magical world, and I just hope there will be more. I know there will be a second series, but I am not ready to let go yet. This entire series has been absolutely beyond incredible!
This book started out really tame and I was thinking this is the tamest book Ms. Chandelle has written thus far. To my delight towards the end of the book, the action began. It does make sense to give Emerysn and Deacon need to have their love story told as it unfolds. I did not like Deacon's friends. I thought they were rich bullies that belittle anyone that does not come from money. While the fate of a couple of them was sad, I was not sorry. I was really impressed with Emersyn's attitude towards Deacon's family and friends. I also loved seeing Emersyn grow in light of it all. When it counted she took charge as the Empress and delegated what needed to be done to keep New York safe. I received an ARC at no cost from the author.
I’ve read a few books since reading The Elemental Series as I had grown a bit weary of that storyline. The break was just what I needed as I really enjoyed Deacon introducing Emersyn to New York, his family and friends. Said people were less than thrilled with her perceived backwoods fashion and mannerisms and not shy about showing their disdain. I’m curious about the rocky relationship between Deacon and his mother which was hinted at but the cause never revealed.
Demons that had escaped before the Gap was sealed infiltrate Manhattan and Em, Deacon, Tennessee and Tegan save the day. Em and Deacon’s soul bond is revealed and I expect her rescuing a bunch of snobs will endear her to them sooner than later.
Five stars of magic goodness I received an arc and I have to say this continuation of the series doesn't disappoint. I've always loved em and deacon and this book is all about them 😊 From the start you get tied up in the story and watch as their relationship goes from strength to strength. The character growths were fantastic and I couldn't put this book down. Em is such a badass and I love her more. Deacon and em forever! And the finale of the big battle scene...holy wow! Epic.
Looking forward to seeing the next series take off and the characters we love to grow more and new characters to love.
You have ruined witch books for me chandelle... Nothing compares to you!
I gotta be honest all through this season I haven’t really liked Emersyn she’s always felt like the other twin the one not as important and not as interesting this book changed that and I have really enjoyed getting to know her and seeing her grow as a person. With all they have faced it’s difficult at times to remember that they are only 16 and yes they are immensely powerful but they have the same growing pains as everyone else. Really loved this book and a great set up for season 2 which I can’t wait to read.
This book was needed definitely lol. I'm so extremely happy Emersyn got her own book. The future of all witches is about to change hugely with more schools in all major cities all over the world. I seriously can't wait to read all about that!!!! This book tied up some thing's that were bugging me. I seriously could not put this book down till I finished it! Now I'm off to the next book that possibly gives me answers from the cliffhanger of the last book! Who was the new witch!!!
The Fire Witch (The Coven: Elemental Magic Book 7)
I absolutely loved 💕💕💕💕this book was that it never lost momentum and I was constantly on my toes, guessing what would come next, trying to figure out the grand scheme of things. This book is so amazing because every time, I turn around there is a twist after plot , thrown at at you and you just don't want to put this book down...
I finished books 1-7 in less than 4 1/2 days... I can’t wait to read
The Hidden Witch (The Coven: Academy Magic Book 1)
Definitely recommend this book!!! And the whole series...
I am always looking for new books to read and decided on this series. I can't say enough good things about this series and would recommend it 100% to anyone who enjoys this genre, no matter what age you are. The characters are kind, strong and everything about them makes you love them. The storyline in each book makes it a page turner. I think the use of tarot cards for these witches was a brilliant idea on Chandelle's part and it works so well! I about to start season two and can't wait!
Following on from the Aether witch focused story arc, this book stars her sister Emersyn and Emersyn’s soulmate Deacon. A trip back to New York to meet Deacon’s family, shows that the events of Samhain have had serious repercussions in the world. Between Deacon’s not-so-friendly friends and family, and the demons, Emersyn is in for a rough time…
An enjoyable addition to the Elemental series, where we get to see Emersyn and Deacon take the lead and grow a little into their own. Read the rest of the series first… it’s not a standalone!
I was so thrilled to get this book yesterday and I was reading another book and put it down to start this one. I just loved it. I could not put it down and read it until I was finished so I could go to bed.. I highly recommend all her books to everyone who loves paranormal mysteries and witches and good love stories. Diana Romano
I liked this book, but I feel like it was so short. I waited months for the next one to come out and it only took like an hour to read. Maybe I’m a fast reader... Regardless, this was a great addition to the series and I hope to be able to read the next one soon. Hopefully, a longer next one. It’s so difficult finding good books to read that don’t cost an arm and a leg when you have read as much as I do.
The story starts slowly as Emersyn and Deacon try to navigate a rocky path on their new Soul Mate relationship, but the action and excitement ramps up at the end in another heart-stopping magical battle. You can't put down the book for the last couple of chapters, and then suddenly it is over and it leaves you craving the next book in the series, soooon please! It was wonderful to revisit the world of the Elemental Magic Coven and clearly the exciting adventure continues...
Another great read to the series. These books leave it open for more possible stories to tell. This book was about Emersyn going to New York to meet Deacons parents and how she handles his world. Points of view switch between Emersyn and Deacon. It was definitely satisfying to see her step up and show off her bad self. I love the bond between her and the coven and their conversations are hilarious! It’s not constant. One or two here and there.
An action packed urban fantasy adventure series. A wonderful cast of characters and storylines. The coven a group of witches that lead the world of witches. Which is were put on this earth to protect mankind from demons and evil of all sorts. Follow our adventures as they go on quests and face challenges to protect mankind in the world. Magic fight scenes battles and plenty of emotion and even a bit of fun at times. Check it out
I just thought about something. White supremacist entitlement is so strong. Like I am sure the author of this series doesn’t think she is racist, but she decided that the genocide of an indigenous tribe was okay to include in her plot. These witches slaughtered a whole ass tribe! With all the magic, there was no other way? So, now I’m going to change all my ratings on her books. I mean I’m used to BIPOC erasure in white fiction, so it doesn’t make me angry there’s only one Puerto Rican character in the series. But, to slaughter a whole ass tribe!? As a Black woman with indigenous ancestry, I have to speak on it, despite enjoying the series otherwise.
I started Saffie's book but felt like I'd missed too much with the novellas so I turned around and read this one. I really like Emersyn and Deacon, and though Tennegan will be my favorite couple, I can appreciate the troubles Em went through to be okay with opening up. This is a fun trope and I'm glad we got to see what happened right after the Gap and just before Bettina's story. I'm totally gonna have to go look at the rest of Em's stories.
Glad we got Tegan and Tenn in this book. They are my favorites. Followed closely by Deacon. Emersyn is growing on me. Can't wait to see where their series goes. Em is thrown into the deep end of New York society and everyone seems to want to get rid of her. Deacon sticks by her and she manages to stay true to herself throughout. Demons keep popping up and there is no rest for the wicked. Told from both Deacon and Emersyn's POV.
For some reason 3.5 stars is all that I want to give this book after such a great start to the Elemental Magic series... I mean...Emersyn and Deacon started well but I think they lost the plot in between and then it just went down after that.
I thought it could have been less dramatic and more...romantic considering Emersyn's inhibitions and Deacon's devilish ploys...
I guess I am ready for the next series though...Academy Magic...
A 300 page book is not a novella unless you compare it to the length of the entire 6 previous books. I’m glad that the Empress got her own book to finalize her love story, but the majority of the book was boring. I didn’t need that level of detail to understand that a bunch of characters who were introduced as shallow, petty, and mean were actually all of those things. I hope this book was ground work for a future more interesting story.
