Another heart-stopping installment in the Saven series. Siobhán Davis crafts a fascinating story full of suspenseful drama, nail-biting twists, and sweet angsty love burdened with the threats that come with intergalactic war that’s impossible to put down.
“We don’t have time for all this personal drama.” My eyes flit between Logan, Haydn, and Ax. “And it’s not fair on the others. The atmosphere is horrendous because of what’s going on between us. And I’m so tired of it. All of it... So sort your shit out, and get your act together. Until then,” I say, turning around. “Leave me the hell alone.”

After receiving the awful revelations of her past from the evil Griselda and some shocking ones from her son Axton, Sadie is more determined to help Logan set things to right on Earth, Saven and the galaxy with the help of her friends or at least tentative allies.
them and want nothing less than universal domination.
Haydn lets out a low whistle. “You’re a real piece of work.”
“It’s okay,”
I say, turning to face him. “I got the memo.” He arches a brow. “The one that says you hate my guts. There’s no need to rub it in.”

Forced to take shelter on alien land while trying to combine forces with heirs from different planets, new facts come to the fore that have devastating consequences all the while their enemies plot against them to take revenge against them regardless of mass destruction they might cause.

As turmoil reigns around her, Sadie’s heart is in equal disarray fighting to protect the people she loves. While she forever commits her heart to one boy, her relationship with another spins out of hand. Sadie might just find out that she can’t always win.
“My heart can’t exist without yours.”

It’s taken me almost two weeks to have the time to properly review this book. It’s so well written though, that it didn’t just give me a book hangover for a couple of days while I got my next reading fix. I can close my eyes and replay every brilliantly described scene and recall every emotion it provoked as if I had just finished it moment ago.

Saven Defiance pics up right where Saven Denial (novella #2.5) left off, where Sadie finds herself between her old friends who doubt her intentions and her new friends who she can’t fully trust. The story has a full throttle pace from start to finish, pushing Sadie from impossible to battle win situations to incredibly sad and angsty ones to deliciously sweet and swoony. One this is for sure, there were be casualties of war and of the heart.
“The feelings I have for you are undeniable. My heart is yours. Always. I won’t ever regret choosing you.”

“All that matters is the man in front of me. My soul mate. My eternal love. The other half of me.”

As a whole, Sadie and her friends have to deal with an all-out war on different fronts, including Logan’s brother, Ax’s malevolent mother Griselda and a host of other worlds who’ve decided to rally against them.

On a personal level Sadie is frequently reminded of her unique background by the incendio-barring bracelets and constantly concerned with the two boys she cares about most. No one knows how to help on the former, and her heart has long since chosen regarding the latter even though there are parts of her past she doesn’t remember. While one love blooms eternal the other withers in agony.
“I can’t lose you, Sadie. I just can’t. Every day I die a little more inside.”
____________________________
“He breaks down, and massive sobs rock his body. His chest heaves as tortured cries waft through the air. There is something so raw, so visceral, so heartrendering, about witnessing such a strong, impressive man reduced to a base emotional state.”

I would love to tell you more about everything regarding this story because it’s so good. I’m sure if you read other reviews you can get more details, but I’m keeping it vague because I believe finding out each revelation to be part of the enjoyment. And trust me when I say there are A LOT of revelations and shocking twists of fate which gave me heart palpitations and had me gripping my eReader. I will add that I loved every single character new and old, they all moved me in one way or another and my nerd girl side reveled in everything sci-fi from new worlds to alien technology.

Saven: Defiance is the third book in the Saven series by Siobhán Davis which I strongly suggest not be read as a standalone but rather in order, including the novella Saven: Denial. It is a fantastic Young Adult, fantasy/sci-fi, dystopian romance full of drama, angst, thrills and sweet swoonage with amazing new worlds, endearing characters and a plot that’s unputdownable. Told from the heroine’s point of view that ends with a cliffhanger. Yes, another one ;)

I would like to thank Siobhan Davis for my copy of the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I don't know what to even write, I'm an emotional mess!! My heart has been shattered into a million pieces as I try to process what's just happened.

So from the HUGE cliffhanger, we were left with from Saven Disclosure Sadie can't believe the frosty welcome she receives from her best of friends, with mounting pressure with a war of the worlds going on Sadie feels lost to herself but knows she needs to try and keep it together. Knowing that her friends are finding it hard to trust her and trying to remember her past with her new allies she tries to remind herself of what's a stake and ways to fix it. When it comes to light that Logan has disappeared Sadie realises what she can lose, from Logan to her sister to Axton and her friend's she knows Dante has to be stopped along with Griselda but how will she do it? Can they find Logan in time and try and work through this whole Alien mess?

This series is shaving years off my life I honestly don't know if I can handle much more, I'm in a glass case of emotion that is ready to explode. There are so many twists and turns in this book I couldn't believe what I was reading, tears streaming down my face then laughing the next this book seriously struck a nerve especially at the end, I think it's near ended me! It's hard to write a review when I don't want to ruin any of the story because it's honestly amazing and it needs to be read!

Siobhan has done great building these different alien species and worlds it amazes me and I find myself captured in each of their story. She pumps all this new information that you find yourself asking more and more questions then you get caught off guard and don't expect things when they happen. She gives each character their deserved spotlight which I have adored about this series, no one gets forgotten. Each character is always built on and included you get to watch everyone grow while being captivated by all these new characters that I loved just as much. I laughed with them, cried with them, faced the battles with them! I feel I know these characters inside out that I hold dearly to my heart.

Ok so at points Sadie started to grate on me, the whole ease dropping thing on Haydn & Logan was another thing that really annoyed me as she would be absolutely outraged if someone did it to her. Then all the anger she was feeling towards Haydn as he spoke of her to Logan, she forgets that there are reasons for people to feel they way they do and they are good solid reasons like I don't know, she nearly killed Logan? she turns up cuddling into the enemy? She has so many secrets she would kill a Priest at Confession. I started to feel a dislike for her but then nearer the end of the book I started to see the Sadie I fell in love with all over again which believe me I was sooooo happy about, the last thing I needed was to start hating our leading lady! Also, I don't get how the whole marriage thing to Axton doesn't count anymore? Don't they have an alien divorce? Can you just forget about the document and do as you please?!

Logan is his usual charming self as always, you see how mature he is and he is such a gentleman in every situation, he reminds me of Maxon from The Selection so much love swells inside him it makes you burst with pride. One thing I didn't get was at points him and Sadie going to get it on whenever they could even in really bad situation and sometimes the way they were together with each other in front of Axton and others I found it to be pretty grim and heartless, Sadie seemed to completely forget about Ella at one point as well. She does all these things that make you think she can be selfish yet she does all these selfless acts, it was pretty infuriating at times but I still have a little place in my heart for her.

I love Haydn he has me gripped, I love everything about him and I believe he always means well. When Sadie barges in his room especially when someone is there and demands things in the middle of the night I don't think I would be as patient as he was I would flip the hell out but I believe he handles it pretty well, Axton, on the other hand, I'm not so sure lol. Ax has me feeling so many different emotions it's unreal, one minute I want to wrap him up in cotton wool and shield him as it must be horrible to watch someone that you love making out with another person at any chance they get regardless if you are there or not but then he would start to act in a seriously cringe festively way I wanted to superglue his mouth shut! You can see him becoming seriously unhinged and you are on edge waiting to see if he cracks.

I could go on forever about the characters as I love every single one of them, they all honestly mean something to me even the baddies. Neeve & Izzy have nestled themselves in a spot deep in my heart I adore them but I won't keep going on. PICK UP THE DAMN BOOK AND READ IT!! You won't be disappointed.

I recommend this series to anyone if you love YA, especially a fast-paced Sci-fi love interest with plenty of action - there's plenty of twists and turns to keep you hooked and each book even the novella that will turn you into an emotional mess, it's oh so worth it!

"Sweetheart," Dante says, panting profusely, as he approaches my spot on the ground. "You've made my day. Stars"-he plops down beside me-"that was way too easy!" He laughs raucously, far too pleased with himself for my liking.

The war of the worlds is brewing and outer space is the battle ground. The prize? Total world domination, or would that be total universal domination?

Sadie is once again caught in the crosshairs as sides are chosen, allies become possible enemies and someone is going to have their heart broken. As if that isn’t enough tension, one king reveals painful secrets as he pledges his aide for Sadie and her group. Enemy number one, the deadliest, the most powerful and most definitely a man burned and twisted by life will stop at nothing to humiliate, torture and defeat anyone who tries to stop his bid for a dictatorial domination.

Even with the threat of eminent death looms, eternal love is in the air and Sadie is re-united with the only man she can love, but as happy as she is, it is like a knife in the heart for another. Allegiances will be tried, heroes may die and worlds may fall, unless one ragtag team of rebels finds a way to take Goliath down.

Sounds like something Siobhan Davis could write! Hyper-fast action, searing love and pain; all signs of belief in a future, even as the war to end all wars is about to be waged and the stench of death is in the air. Saven: Defiance is another incredible notch on the literary belt of Siobhan Davis and her crazy-wicked imagination. This time out, there are characters who may shock you with their behavior, characters who practically bleed from broken hearts some of the most incredible revelations laid bare for all to see. Gear up, fasten your seatbelts and prepare for takeoff into the world of Siobhan Davis and her Saven Series. Astounding scenes, dialogue that demonstrates the humanity in these characters, just read the series and you will understand the power of Siobhan Davis’ words!

Oh my. I can safely say Defiance is my favourite book in the Saven series to date. Honestly, it was so good. I don’t know what I’m going to do now that I’m sitting waiting – impatiently, might I add – for the conclusion to this great series.

Before I go into detail about this book, I feel as though a little recap is called for. I’m doing this mainly so you can understand just how much I adored this book, so you can truly appreciate how hard it hit me.

Months ago, I joined a number of advance read teams without really knowing much about authors. What I mean to say is I joined some advance read teams prior to reading any of the author’s work. It was silly, I know. It was possible I would be disappointed. Fortunately, that did not happen. Either luck or divine intervention meant I found myself enjoying all of the work I was reading. As you have probably already guessed (or you are already aware of if you have read my other reviews for this series), Siobhan Davis falls into this category.

Siobhan Davis came to my attention through her True Calling book. My to-read list is extremely long. I have it split on Goodreads between what I own and what I still need to buy. The owned book section, at present, has managed to surpass the one thousand mark due to my love of downloading free books from Amazon. When I found her True Calling series, however, the number was at around four hundred books. Needless to say, upon downloading True Calling the book ended up very low down on my priority list. Despite this, I joined the author’s mailing list and when she asked for people to advance read her Saven series I jumped right in. I am not one to deny a series that sounds so very interesting.

By the time I joined the list, though, the first book was already out. Siobhan Davis was kind enough to send it to me, so I could get up to date. Of course, this bumped it up my to-read list. I had a slight up and down with the book but, for the most part, I enjoyed it. I was more than ready for book two. Despite being late to the advance read party, I still had to wait. As soon as I had it, though, I devoured it. Then I was impatient again. I mean that cliff-hanger! The woman had me holding on for dear life. Then came two-point-five. Again, there was devouring. I needed answers. My insides were so twisted from my need for answers. What I was given was wonderful. Despite my love-hate relationship with series novellas, I adored Denial. It gave me all I wanted and then some.

As you can see, as the series has progressed I’ve come to enjoy it more and more. Nevertheless, I was still hit much harder by this one than I had expected. After reading it, I’ve been well and truly pushed into the fangirl camp.

Okay, I’m rambling more than I mean to. I’m sorry – I’ve just got so many feels and need you to truly understand just how much fun I had with this one, how I enjoyed it so much more than the prior books (books that were already at a high level of enjoyment).

Another quick tangent, though, although this one is an important one. You have to read Denial before you read this one. Defiance carries on after the events of the novella, and those events are extremely important for what is to come. Trust me, you’ll get spoilers and confusion is you ignore the novella. Therefore, turn back now if you have yet to read Denial. Go catch up and enjoy the amazing two-point-five story! If you are up to date, if you have read the between story, I will now continue on.

The end of Denial was another cliff-hanger of a story. It wasn’t as big as the Disclosure ending, but it still left me on the edge of the seat for what was to come next. There were so many possibilities. My mind created the worst explanations possible. Due to my overactive imagination, I was a tiny bit disappointed at the very start. It wasn’t what I was expecting. I still loved it, but it was different to what my mind hand concocted. I had to remind myself that this was not my story, and Siobhan Davis knew exact where she was going. Fortunately, my initial feelings only last a chapter or two. With book one I was disappointed by how the action seemed to be held off for quite some time, the same was somewhat true with book two due how I’d wanted more action, yet book three moved much faster. There was no waiting for things to happen. Things are moving, moving at a real pace, from really early in the book. Moreover, once things get moving they do not stop.

As with book two, so much happened in this one. There are so many different aspects to the story, so many things going on. Fortunately, everything is given enough attention. Things play out well, rather than items appearing meshed together. Honestly, and I know I’m repeating myself, there was so much. I was so pleased by the additional alien races in book two and then two-point-five, and such a thing continues on in book three. The science fiction lover in me was so glad that things continued to grow in that regard. In fact, there was quite a bit happen in relation to the alien races. Fear not, I’ll hold back on spoilers, but be prepared for secrets to come out and for the story to grow even stronger where the peace and hatred between the alien races is concerned. A couple of things were expected, not overly shocking, but because there was so much going on, I still found certain twists catching me off guard. Whilst we are given answers to many of our questions, there are still so many things we need to know more about. In fact, there were almost as many new questions as there were answers. It promises great things for the next book, it really is no surprise the author added a fourth book to the series.

In addition to all of this, I feel even more in love with the series for another reason. Yes, there are plots within plots. Yes, things are progressing at a great rate. Yes, I’m holding out for answers I’m sure will be wonderful. It sounds crazy that I would need anything else to enjoy the series – but there is something more. Something unique to me, I believe. What I’m about to say will not apply to most people, as I know many hold different views, but in explaining this it does help show just how deep into the story I’ve emerged myself.

You see, I’m a massive fan of the young adult genre. I will pick up any young adult book that interests me. However, I do have a slight issue with the never-ending romance stories. They are all the same, in my personal opinion, and such a thing bores me. My interest in the romance in this story… well, it was never quite what I had hoped it would be. I had been crossing my fingers that I would enter the fangirl feels at some point but it didn’t seem to be happening. I didn’t hate the romantic aspect, yet I wasn’t overly concerned by it. Not in the way I have been in other stories.

Something changed in this book.

The romantic aspect seemed a lot more mature at times. I admit there was still some annoyance about the additional aspect added by Denial (as I said, two-point-five is an important story), yet it could have been so much worse. I feel as though it worked to strengthen Sadie as a character, and due to this I wasn’t as annoyed as I could have been – as I’d expected to be. She was a strong woman, who knew what she wanted, and she wasn’t about to let drama influence her life. I came to really respect her as a character, and through the events that took place I came to enjoy the romantic aspect of the story. I found myself smiling at the things that were occurring, rather than rolling my eyes in disgust. It was a massive improvement. I admit that some of the romantic parts still felt juvenile but, as a whole, things seemed a lot more mature.

Basically, the romantic drama changed to something I could deal with. The characters were a lot more grown up about things than I had expected them to be. There was a lot of development within and between characters, and I came to accept that aspect of the story. In fact, the development wasn’t simply in regards to the romance. There was a lot of development in general. Characters I already liked I came to like more. Some characters I changed my views about, or I came to question how I feel towards them. Certain characters have a story that… well, just hold out for a lot to happen in this one to both the main and the side characters.

I really could rant on and on, but I’m sure you’re growing bored of my fangirl nature by this point. As I said, this one really has ensured my love for the series. I’ve said since the start that Siobhan Davis can write a great story, yet this one took things a step beyond her normal level. This one guaranteed I would be throwing the series at anyone and everyone, rather than holding out for just those I thought it would appeal to.

Seriously, I cannot wait to get my hands on the last book. I’m so ready for my answers, so ready to see how things play out for all of the characters. Expect me to fangirl over it, probably worse than I have here.

As a final note, I would like to say the biggest thank you to Siobhan Davis for allowing me to advance read this one. It was wonderful, thank you a million times over.

4.5 Stars

Well, I loved this book just as much as the rest of the series far, but found some of it slightly hard to believe. It's a personal opinion though, which is why I'm still going to give it 5 stars at heart.

The Sadie, Axton, and Logan drama really begins in this instalment, and the air is often tense. A lot happens, and Saven Defiance has to have the most fast paced plot so far.

There is heaps more conflict and violence as well, and some very detailed description. Deaths occur, and often it is just a plot twist. A lot of planets are visited, including but not limited to Saven, Earth, and Nerik.

We find out some shocking facts, which both soften and harden the antagonists. Axton is very difficult, proving hard to please and non-compliant. The ending really proves how different he really is.

As for things I personally found hard to believe, firstly a complete personality change based on some news, and secondly "a glowing light shoots out of me" and so on. It's not that I don't believe it, more that my visualization of that kind of bond is different from the author's.

Overall I really enjoyed Saven Defiance and couldn't stop reading. I strongly recommend all books by Siobhan Davis.

Favourite quotes:

“We’re together now and always. That’s all that matters.”

"I will love you for eternity, wherever or whatever that may be.”

"He’s unnaturally calm. His quiet assurance seeps into me, cooling my frayed nerves."

"I don’t ever want to leave this place. To ever run from his arms."

"Life is for living. For moments like this."

"Watching him walk away is one of the hardest things I’ve endured. I want to glue him to my side and never let him go. But I know we don’t have a choice. Sacrifice and duty are the name of the game now, and I won’t add guilt on top of his burden. Besides, he is right, I am strong, and I can do this. I straighten my back and loosen my shoulders, as I prepare myself to face whatever awaits me back home."

I gobbled up this installment in the Saven series just as fast as I did the others. The story contains all the trademark Davis characteristics: fast-moving action, romance, intrigue, surprises/twists, and a whole lot of inventiveness. I don't know how she thinks all this stuff up, but I'd love to get inside her brain and see how it's done.

On a personal note, I found my allegiances to the various characters shaken up in this episode, which is exactly what an author is supposed to do, but the shifting sands made me very uncomfortable. I'm not complaining, except that I am, because I thought I knew whom I loved and whom I hated, and now I don't. I have to admit that I find this feeling so unsettling that I'm tempted to dig my little heels in and bestow my unconditional love or hate on the characters regardless of what they do, but that's silly, isn't it? Oh, Siobhan, what have you done to my love for [spoiler] and my dislike of [other spoiler]??!! I certainly hope the next book clears this all up for me because otherwise I'll have to take a lot of antacid, and that won't be good. Not that I'm asking for favors or anything, but maybe you could just have a little mercy and give me back my [spoiler]. Please?

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for my honest opinion.

Book 3

Well, I'm exhausted again and not in a good way. Dante is despicable yet Axton has him beat. He had the key to Sadie's cuffs the entire time? Axton being the half-brother of Logan was a drop of the mic moment. It explains his extreme jealousy of Logan. I liked Axton in the previous book because the deception he perpetrated against Sadie felt real. Neve.... SO sad when she was killed. I'm SO glad Haydn is alive at the end of this book. I was worried. Ella dying was inevitable. She wasn't in good shape when Sadie left Earth. Poor Jarod who I like immensely.
Evanna being G's mother is hella crazy. The build-up to her finding her missing son was heartfelt and it never occurred to me once she found her son I wouldn't like him. He's still a piece of murderous shit imo.
Sadie needs a vacay, as do I. 3 stars is correct. Happy reading!

Anyone else think this book would have been a perfect reverse harem? Seriously, in all those alien worlds and races across the galaxy, and every single civilisation out there practices monogamy? I just feel bad for Axton the entire time (though the circle thing turned out to be different than I thought it was. I don’t know if my prediction was worse than what it was or on par). You can try and make me hate him, but the dude deserves a break. I am about to go read his novella, so I'm willing to bet I'm proven wrong, but at *this* point, Ax got a shippy deal.
And side note:
Anyway, I am loving this series. I know! No one is more surprised than me after the first book, but it's changed a lot and done away with *most* of the YA cringey troupe bits I truly don't like (it still has some, but the worst of them are over with). There's a lot of action, seemingly several plot threads running alongside, and such huge stakes. It's very addictive and I am totally bingeing until the end of this series. I'm past the point of being able to put it down and move onto something else.

4/5 Love Triangle Stars. I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.

In this fourth book of the series, we are thrown right into the action where Denial ended. Sadie has high hopes when she sees her friends. That all changes when she realizes she is public enemy number one.

This is going to be a complete disaster!
Haydn-Defiance

Yes, Haydn. Yes, it is.

What worked well: There is no down time for this book. The plot is a constant forward push. I found myself letting laundry pile up, and dishes sit in the sink. I didn't work on things I really should have been, so I could keep reading. In addition to fighting Logan's crazy brother, and Dali's out-of-control father, Sadie has to deal with the incendio-barring bracelets on her wrists. Haydn hates Sadie for reasons that aren't immediately clear. Ax, who should be treating her the way Haydn is, follows her around like a sad little puppy dog, and all she wants is to be with Logan.

I also loved the girls in this book. Sadie would have been better off going on a couple of girls' nights out and leaving the drama boys behind. These girls were supportive and helpful (I'm looking at you Izzy). There was no jealousy with them. So many times, the non-MC females in YA are portrayed in a negative light, so this was a nice change.

This book, more than any of the others, reminded me of the True Calling series. I loved that series so that was a major plus for me. I love the whole "Sins of the Father" plot line infecting the following generations. The kids face many of the same problems as their parents, but hopefully, they will dig themselves out of the muck. Also, at the end of Defiance, we are bombarded by revelation after revelation. Just when I thought I couldn't learn anything more devastating, another secret came to light. That made for an anxiety-inducing fast-paced read.

Now, what bothered me. ****Some spoilers****
LOVE triangle of doom

I must admit, I'm not a fan of love triangles. So, take everything I say with a grain of salt. If you do like love triangles, you will probably go crazy for this one. I've never seen such a convulted, messed-up, secrets out the wazoo, love triangle as this one.
hot-mess-o

To make matters worse, Logan and Sadie were PDAing all over the place. In formal meetings with the king, in public, in front of

And actually, it's more like a love pentagon as almost every male under the age of fifty wanted Sadie.

And even those males who were supposedly friends were awful grabby hands with Sadie. Jarod, is but one example. He says she is his friend. He dated her sister and considers her his sister. Yet, he can't keep his hands or lips off her. Even Haydn, who supposedly HATES her, finds a lot of reasons to handle her. The guys were just over-the-top silly with their worship of Sadie.

But the thing that kept me from awarding the full five stars was

It was high-anxiety drama and action from start to finish.
It looks like I'll be waiting until December to see what happens.

I received an eARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of this review.

Seriously….one word for this book….DRAMA!!! Saven: Defiance by Siobhan Davis is a suspenseful, emotional rollercoaster that takes the series to an entirely new level.

I’m honestly having a hard time coming up with words to describe my emotions while reading this book. It’s was full of highs and lows and everything in between. I think I felt the full gamut of emotions: love, rage, hate, jealousy, happiness, and joy. And that ending….

Sadie, love, I have not been your fan. In fact, your drama has annoyed me to no end. However, the maturity you show in this book as you handle the drama that is your life deserves a standing ovation. Seriously, how you dealt with the revelations, the scandal, the horrors that are done…..bravo!!! You are a girl others can look to. You are showing me and the other doubters that you can reign as queen by Logan’s side. Yay!!!

To be #TeamLogan or #TeamAx? That is a good question! On one hand, Logan and Sadie share this amazing bond, the Eterno connection. It’s cool, they can talk in each other’s head, they are the other’s soul mate. On the other hand, there’s Axton who had Sadie first. He’s her….I don’t know. She loves him, but he isn’t enough. My heart aches for Ax, he’s SO good to Sadie and she shuts him down. But Logan’s good to her too, even if he can be a little over-possessive at times, in my opinion. And then all the revelations about the two guys, their past, their connection to Sadie, their secrets…it’s too much!

And then the climax of the book, the plot that revolves around taking Saven from Dante, saving Earth from the Saven and Amaretti….dear Lord, Siobhan Davis what are you trying to do to your readers?! The action, the suspense, the vivid, horrific details of actions taken by other characters that Sadie bears witness too…..too much!!!! It was amazing! The writing and the details, the foreshadowing, the character development were brilliant. I’ve had the honor of reading all of the author's books thus far, and if I may so, Saven: Defiance is her best!

Overall, I’m in love with this book! Sadie has finally come into her own as a strong leader and female heroine. I loved her changes and growth! The relationship with Logan and her strained friendship with Ax add a little drama….okay a LOT of drama but it fits so well with the plot that I couldn’t tear my eyes from the pages. If you’ve liked the series so far, you don’t want to miss this book. There are so many answers to so many questions that have been building through the series. It’s coming to an end and I’m excited and sad to see what will happen to Sadie and her friends. If you’re a fan of sci-fi, I highly recommend you check out the series, starting with book one! Fair warning my friends, the ending is not pretty. Be prepared for tears and lots of em!!! Now, don’t mind me. I’ll be the one wallowing while we wait for the next book!

Saven Defiance has action, suspense, romance, and a cliffhanger that will make you want to throw your e-reader. However, I wouldn’t suggest that route because then you can’t read the next one! And as someone who has read the novella that comes next, you’ll want that baby safe and sound and ready for your next immediate download.

I just finished reading a preview of the book (first 3 chapters) and all I can say is WOW!!!! The series continues to get better and better with each addition. You MUST read Saven Denial prior to reading this book. If not, you will be completely puzzled by the start of the book and the introduction of two new, and important characters, Izzy and Ax. Now, I have to be honest I am COMPLETELY on Team Ax. He is a phenominal character, and in my opinion, the person that Sadie should end up with. I know that my hopes will be dashed and the future that Sadie saw will come to fruition, but I like the Sadie/Ax relationship better than Sadie/Logan. I have always been slightly disturbed by Logan and his and the Saven's motivations. I feel like Sadie will always be second to Logan's desire to be a leader. Ax on the other hand is only concerned about Sadie and would always put her first. I LOVE how he immediately put his relationship and feelings out there to Sadie's friends. He didn't hid it and instead made sure that EVERYONE completely understood where he stood and his position in Sadie's life. Thankfully Siobhan has decided to relive my longing with a prequel novella about them and their time together. I wish I could be a fly on the wall to witness Ax's reaction when he finds out that Sadie is gone. He is going to freak!

I also appreciate how Siobhan treated Haydn. He reaction is exactly how I would expect - hurt, angry, and dismissive. If Haydn still showered Sadie with affection, that would be counter "human" nature.

I CAN'T wait until the full edition is available.

Edited 7/29
Well I just finished the book and it completely lived up to my expectations. While I am still on Team Ax, my enthusiasm for them has diminished due to Ax's actions in the latter half of the novel. I can't wait to read Heir and the Human to actually enjoy their love story. Seven Defiance was action paced and a quick read. Just when the story we reach a lull, another event would occur. I was sad to read about the death of some favorite characters, but that shows that no one is safe in the Saven conflicts.

***Thanks to the author for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.***

I am so in love with this series. I've been lucky enough to read these first books back to back, but now I have to wait until next year to see how the series ends. The struggle is certainly real.

Sadie and her friends had to basically start trying to save the universe in this one. Entire planets are at war with each other, and Earth seems likely to get blown up in the process. Sadie and the others must bring together allies from across the universe and start working to establish peace. But it's hard to know who they can trust when everyone is turning on each other.

A couple of the characters that I loved/felt for (I won't say who--spoilers) really pissed me off in this book. One was just being an idiot (I can forgive), while the other became a full-fledged psycho stalker whom I know will just fuck things up in the final book. There were some deaths that I'm still not over. I was really hoping these characters would get their happy endings. As with the previous books in the series, the revelations blew my mind. Just when I think all secrets have been exposed, BOOM. Five more. I'm so excited to read the final book next year, and I'm sure I'll binge read the entire series again before then.

Wow the last chapter or so revealed so much it left me completely mind blown!
I wouldn't expect any less from Siobhan Davis though, as this is completely and utterly her style :)

Sadie, Logan, and Axton are constantly in close proximity of one another so the tension in the air is always high. Add to it Haydn and his over-protectiveness of Logan (and his hostility towards Sadie) and you get plenty of drama in this instalment.

Sadie's character really grows as time goes on as she learns more about herself and she becomes more comfortable in her own skin. There's plenty of love and romance in this instalment and I cannot get enough of them!

There is also more violence and death in Saven Defiance compared to the other Saven books, so some parts were quite dark... This instalment is also full of action and is very fast-paced, with plenty of twists and turns that you simply cannot put this book down.

So much happened in the end with a lot of mind-blowing big reveals I fear there's plenty more to come! There's so much potential in the Saven series, I look forward to reading the rest!

Don't make me hate Ax.... Don't you dare!!!!

First thoughts, it was fast paced with plenty of action and lots of emotional scenes. It made me tear up a few times. My heart nearly jumped out of my chest too. The intensity of the emotional scenes hit me to the core. I could feel everything...

The revelations at the end of the book :O no real cliffhanger this time thankfully, but it does make me want to read the next book (there's a next book!!!!! :o ) I wasn't expecting that! Delighted I can't wait...

Sadie and Logan ❤️

Oh my goodness, these books keep getting better and better.

Sadie is struggling to come to terms with who she loves and who she loved, but it makes for an interesting inner turmoil as she realises that there is only one who truly has her heart.

The warring continues through the galaxy and on earth and who is going to win in the end?

Oh. My. Gosh!

Seriously, mind blown! I love the foreshadowing that gave me a hint of what was revealed at the end of this book, and the things I NEVER saw coming! Trying so hard not too leave any spoilers but it makes it hard to talk about how incredible this series is!!!

For some reason I can't get my blog website to load properly right now, so I'll just to my review here, since I copy and paste anyways.

**This book was given to me by the author in exchange for my honest review**

I took my time with this one, usually I rush and read the books all in the same day, then I end up mad at myself because I have to wait for the next one to come out. I discovered that I can't do that, cause if I put it down, and read a library book, then picked it up, or waited a few days, I usually forgot why they were going on this mission and that mission, and what was happening, it was so fast paced like that. I'd have to reread back some. I can't figure out if this one was a little more confusing than previous books, or if I shouldn't have taken my time with it. There was lots of excitement, and twists and bombshells that make the authors books so awesome. There was a lot of new revelations, and the world building was just amazing. Every time I read one of her books I'm reminded why she is one of my favorite authors. I can't wait for the next one.

I think the reason I gave this one 4/5 stars though..while I love that this author has me feeling all sorts of emotions, mostly the entire book I spent annoyed. I was annoyed with the main character. So upcoming are some spoilers, I will hide them. IF you chose to read it, it's my own ranting. I give huge props to Siobhan Davis for making me rage the way I do, it means you're a good author and invoke the strongest feelings in your reader (me).

My mind is blown! Saven Defiance is so damn good! I am just so in love with this series, and once I pick up one of Siobhan Davis' books to read, I can't put it down till I'm finished; sleep be damned! There wasn't anything I disliked about this book, and once I was finished reading, I just felt gobsmacked! There are so many events and revelations in this book! And I am so excited for the next book!

Saven Defiance starts off right where the last book cliff-ended, Sadie has just escaped the Tor with Axton and Izzy, and has been picked up by a surly Haydn and a few other familiar faces, but there is one very important person missing, Logan. Sadie needs to find Logan, and they need to figure out how to stop the war between the different planets, and they need to especially stop Logan's brother Dante, and his desire for universal domination. I love that we get to see multiple planets, and the world building that Siobhan Davis does is really immersive. I love picturing each of the individual planets, and there uniqueness. Sadie is also dealing with the situation with Axton, she's really in a tough spot, but I think she handled herself admirably. I really feel for Axton; despite some of his actions that I don't agree with, I still really feel for him, and understand how devastated he is. I wish there could be 2 Sadies, the current Sadie for Logan, and then Axton's Sadie, so everyone can be happy! You know! Some weird timeline thing! It could happen! I'm still for Logan all the way, and the scenes between Logan and Sadie are just wonderful, and so heartfelt and deep; they make my heart sigh. Their connection is just an amazing thing. Logan is really amazing in this book, and he really shows maturity in a lot of really difficult situations. There are a lot of intense moments in this book, and I was sad that we lose some characters. The deaths make the story seem more real, and the characters are going through some really tough situations, so it's only natural that everyone wouldn't make it, so I understand the need for them, but definitely heart-wrenching! There's tons of action in this book, as the gang tries to gain allies and survive, and I loved it all. I love suspense, and I could feel the anxiousness in my heart as I read.

I love the way this series is unfolding, and I am so excited to read the next book. The writing is amazing, and I love the way Siobhan Davis' tells a story. Saven Defiance has soul deep romance, heart pounding action, amazing characters, gut wrenchingly intense moments, and once you start it, you will be drawn into the story so completely. Okay, sorry if this review was overly gushy, but I just loved it! Definitely read it!

The Cliffhanger Queen has done it again!

Saven Defiance does not miss a beat. The action picks up right where it left off in Saven Denial. If Saven Denial is the book which reveals Sadie’s past, Saven Defiance is the book which reveals the past of the parental generation of the book series and I was surprised on all accounts. Twist after twist and secret after secret is exposed. But don’t worry, there is still a lot left open for the final book to be released in December. Thank the book gods that we only have to wait a few short months!

I loved seeing the main characters together again in this book. I felt the first few books of the series had them separated for a majority of the time covered. I understand that it had to be done for the storyline but I crave having the main crew all together. I adore Ax from Saven Denial and regardless of what went down in Saven Defiance, I am still rooting for him (#TeamAx). I adore Sadie too. She is a strong main character and I thoroughly enjoy experiencing the story from her point of view.

Although the galaxy is at war and there is violence and loss throughout the book (you have been warned *tear*), I am hesitant to call it the darkest of the series. There are bright moments, which I will not give away, and some blissfully happy scenes to balance it all out. It was exciting to get to experience different places throughout the galaxy. Siobhan Davis does a superb job describing the characters’ surroundings so you can visualize the new planets and worlds being explored. Nothing like a good sci-fi romance with hot aliens and thrilling adventures through new galaxies to warm a bookworm’s nerdy heart.

Siobhan Davis has truly outdone herself with this one. She is easily one of my new favorite authors and all of her upcoming releases are already on my reading list. I can’t wait to read the last book of the Saven series and any extra novellas that come along. If you have not read the Saven series yet, check out Saven Deception (book #1) first, followed by Saven Disclosure (book #2), Saven Denial (book #2.5) and Saven Defiance (book #3) available August 22nd. I simply cannot get enough of this series. I highly recommend it!

Disclaimer: I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I'm not sure if I can even get across in writing how much I love this series. Siobhan Davis is hands down one of the best YA authors writing today. She has mastered her art. She creates wonderful characters, creates amazing worlds, and provides them with solid, entertaining storylines.

Saven Defiance is the 3rd book in the Saven Series. We return to Sadie and Logan's story right where Saven Denial left off, so from page one the story is in full swing. And the fast pace never stops. This book is so detailed, so descriptive. We jump worlds; every character from every book comes in to play; there is non-stop danger, intrigue, frustration, tension, deception, anger, fear, heartbreak, and so much friendship and love. With so much happening, a lesser writer would have let the story become muddled or watered down. Siobhan keeps a main plot line going interwoven with multiple side stories, just like real life. It's so complex and each story adds layers to make the book better and better. So many twists and turns, so many new revelations. I'm determined not to give any spoilers, because everyone should get a chance to enjoy this book as much as I did, but there is something for everyone. I wanted to read this book slowly and savor it, but I couldn't. It's impossible to put down. From page one I was so immersed in the story. The writing is so vivid that you are completely swept into Sadie and Logan's world; their adventure becomes yours, you share in their love and pain, their friends become yours, their politics are yours, and their fight is your fight as well. There is not one negative thing I can bring to light about this book. It leaves us with many unknowns at the end, so if you like a neatly wrapped up conclusion, you will be frustrated. It just builds the anticipation for me. Truly, Saven Defiance is wonderful, I highly recommend it, and can't wait for the next one!

Words fail me
Saven Defiance is the third in the Saven series by author Siobhan Davis with a novella called Saven Denial as 2.5. I recommend you read them all in order as there is a natural progression and each book will leave you wanting more.
Are some things better left in the past? Sadie finally finds out about her past and in doing so finally understands her connection to Ax. With the best will in the world, it is hard loving two people especially if you can't remember one of them. What happens when those memories start to come back and will this interfere in her relationship with Logan? This book provides the answer and boy does Siobhan do it justice.
At the same time as Sadie muddles her way through her romantic entanglements there is an intergalactic conflict at play and she must do her best to protect humanity and her family. Her new found power is hard to get used to but when she finally blows it's of volcanic proportions.
Secrets have a way of coming out and aliens are no different from humans in the secrets they keep. These secrets will have a major impact on the people involved and their planets as well as the whole galaxy.
Siobhan Davis is a fabulous author and so deserving of success. She is prolific in publishing books and does not make her readers wait too long for the next one.
Although I received this book in exchange for an honest review, I really want people to know how good a writer Siobhan is. Her imagination knows no bounds but is also grounded in what is possible. I never once felt that anything in the book was not possible and think that is an important aspect to have in a futuristic book. I can't wait for Saven Declaration which will be out in time for Christmas.

4.0 out of 5 stars Darkest in Series that Continues to Enchant Lovers of Romantic YA Fantasy
Saven Defiance, Siobhan Davis's fourth Saven series book, was a compelling read with plenty of action and romantic tension between Sadie and the two aliens who love her -- Logan and Ax. There are plenty of twists in this installment, which is by far the darkest of Siobhan's books. I loved how multi-faceted her characters are -- even supporting ones you care about and identify with their pain, sacrifice and loss. The love triangle is a central theme and Siobhan takes her fans on a roller coaster ride of passion and impossible choices and managed to surprise this reader with a major twist at the end of the book. If I could change one thing in the story it would be to make Dante a little less evil -- while we find out why Dante is the way he is by the end of the book, showing a sliver of humanity would have given him more dimension and made the dynamics with his brother and with Sadie more full dimensional. Overall, though, I enthusiastically endorse Defiance and the entire Saven series. As the author has said, you should start at the beginning. This is not a series to pick up midway through. It's worth the time to read chronologically.

I'm a big fan of series, it allows me to stay in the world with characters I love for longer. This book doesn't fail to tick that need.

Getting to spend more time with Sadie, Logan, Haydn, Neve and everyone else is a big win...even if they have to go through things you don't want your friends to deal with. There is a lot that happens, one thing that happened [that I don't want to spoil] brought me to tears. That shows just how many mad skillz Siobhan has. Including the fact, that there were many instances when I wanted to reach into the book and smack some sense into some folks, both new and old characters.

I particularly enjoyed how the book didn't turn into a giant Sadie and Logan love fest - although, there is time given to them, so don't worry folks who read for the love-love moments. Getting to learn more about the other characters, other worlds and a very BIG reveal makes this a must for folks who've read the other books in the series.

My only quibble is, when do we get the next one?

Woah. Just woah. So many new revelations! So many unexpected connections! I read another review that said "this book gave me a book hangover." That is quite possibly the most accurate review I've ever read! I finished 'Saven Defiance' this morning, and I have to say, it will take me a while to recover!

I really enjoyed learning more about the eterno connection, and exactly what it means to have an eterno bond with someone. If only it were possible for humans... And I loved learning about backgrounds of other characters. It helped me to relate to them even more, and understand where they are coming from and why they act like they do.

These characters are so realistic, I'm pretty sure I know people who are like each one of them. Well, maybe not quite as psychotic as Dante... Great writing, fantastic characters, and descriptions that cement pictures in my mind of what these worlds look like. I feel like I say this every time, but Siobhan is definitely one of my favorite writers. Can't wait for the next one!!

FINALLY! *Spoilers*
I L-O-V-E-D this book! I was so happy that Sadie and Logan *finally* Eterno Bonded! It was probably the most beautifully written scene in the whole series, thus far! I just loved the entire ceremony, and I love the idea of matching Eterno tattoos appearing.

I'm also sooooo mad at Axton! The ending (which is a cliff hanger, naturally) infuriated me! I just couldn't understand why, and I am absolutely biting my nails waiting for the next one to come out!

I truly love this series, as much as it gives me mini panic attacks at the endings ;]

If anyone were to ask me what this book was about I don’t think I could answer that question. Defiance was littered with subplot after subplot and then bombshell after bombshell that it just gave me headaches from all the confusing and unnecessary paths the book took. Seriously, almost every chapter ended with a huge revelation or cliffhanger. It’s like the author didn’t know how to make the main plot interesting enough to keep her readers invested, so she had to add these bombshells in every crevice possible. It was people being related to people, pregnancy, mistreatments, death and more and more. I just wanted to crawl trough the book, back to time when Siobhan Davis wrote this and tell her to calm the F down! Because what she didn’t understand was that the more of these subplots she added the messier and more ridiculously unrealistic the story became.

There is a reason why I liked the previous book, Saven Denial. It’s because it followed a very clearcut and emotionally complex main plot. Meaning the author could put all attention and thought process to the main story line and only that. Which in turn meant the story was well thought through and well developed. Since Defiance took so many unnecessary turns and had so so many twists the introduced problems and subplots was not given the chance or room to be developed and resolved thoroughly, if they were resolved at all. This was especially unsatisfying for me when it came to Sadie’s very strained relationship with Haydn.

The book had a very intriguing start with Haydn being distrustful and angry with Sadie especially since he wouldn’t tell her or us why. While the reason for his anger towards her might have been a bit underwhelming (which honestly was a relief for me since at the point of finding out why, I had already been through a sea of needless twists and revelations) the drama factor of his cruel and hurtful treatment towards her was on top. If only it had stayed that way though. Because Sadie’s demeanor was so unsatisfying. She just let him treat her like crap and then apologized to him as if his reason and treatment towards her was justified. Trust me, it was not! I wanted her to stand up for herself and be angry with him for not trusting her after all they’d been through. He pretty much took their friendship and past, spat on it and then threw it away. And she apologized to him like she was the villain in that sordid tale when really, he was. Just so unsatisfying!

Then it was her relationship with Axton. She held her own little pity parties saying it was so difficult having him in love with her but not being able to reciprocate those feelings and how she wished he would move on from her. All that contradicted her actions however, because she kept leading him on throughout the book instead of actually doing the right thing by him and stay away from him. Even telling him about her situation with Logan so that he knew a future with her was not an option was apparently a bad idea, which she never motivated why. She gave him a slimmer of hope every time to keep him on her hook. Yet she was the one we should feel sympathy for? Although, it’s clear with the writing that the readers should also sympathize with Axton, but honestly I had difficulty with that since he stood by and let the love of his life be experimented on because as Sadie said, “he had no choice”. Total BS if you ask me.

If I am being honest I had problems with almost every character in the book. Like Logan together with Sadie just made me cringe with all the sappy, constant and unnatural profound dialogues and sentiments (although I admit there were moments that made my toes curl, so it wasn’t always that bad). Then we also had Izzy and Fern. Why were they in the story to begin with? They had no contributions and weren’t they in the book the outcome and plot would have been exactly the same. They were just two names I sometimes happened upon in the pages. The other minor characters at least attributed in the war and fights and brought some sorrow over loss. Because of said messiness with subplots though these monumental moments weren’t given that much room and we readers weren’t given the chance to feel that loss either. It was “this character is dead ... moving on”. Not exactly how you want to feel when you read that supposedly tragic part of the book.

Those were the main issues I had and the more I read on the more issues keeps coming up. Smaller ones like people gasping in shock and surprise (people don’t do that!), characters constantly bathing or taking a shower, how only America is mentioned and part of the story like the rests of the world has seized to exist. And how all the aliens are more comfortable speaking English than their own language. Then there are the bigger issues like how easily the characters get over death like that character just never existed and how unhealthy the romance is. For example Ax saying he wants to die if he can’t have her. Since this series is directed to a young and impressionable audience then perhaps that is not the best message to send out? Just a thought.

Despite the very unhealthy and overdone romance it was the most enjoyable part of the story, when toned down at least, and is the reason that I keep reading through the series. Hopefully, since Saven Deliverance is the last book, there will be less subplots and the many many unsolved issues will have satisfying resolvents.
