A SIGHT FOR PSYCHIC EYES by Kelly Hashway is a good start to a new series. This is a short prequel novella that introduces the main characters and gets the series off to a nice start. My 3.5 star rating is rounded up.

Piper Ashwell is a private investigator with the ability to read objects to help her on her cases. She helps her police detective father with cases on occasion. This story starts with a missing nine-year-old boy Eric Danson who disappeared from his house in the middle of the night. Did Eric wander off or was he kidnapped?

The novel pulls you in immediately and is a fast read at 62 pages. Nevertheless, it packs a punch and has a few surprises and twists woven into the story line. The reader gets a good feel for Piper's character and her working relationship with her father and others in the local police force. The conflicts are well defined and believable. There is even a potential for a romantic interest in the future. Time will tell.

I recommend this to those that enjoy paranormal cozy mysteries and I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Quote out of the book : Facts come to me as truth sometimes. I don’t know why I know certain things. I Just do. Give me a personal effect of the victim, preferably something metal, and I can read the entery of it. ☘️☘️
We meet Piper who can read objects and assists her detective-father with PI work. This time it is a kidnapt boy. She gets several reads but how are they correctly placed in the timelines so they can find the boy in time. I liked this novella. I could read it in to hours on my Sunday afternoon.🌷🌷🌷

Being psychic doesn’t mean private investigator Piper Ashwell has all the answers.

She’s surrounded by people who either don’t believe in her abilities or want her to solve all the world’s problems.

This was a good book that peaks your interest from the start. It's about a 28 yr old woman and her dad who both work for the police department. She works as a psychic.

At the beginning, there is a little boy who goes missing and they are rushing to find the kidnapper. Then, others are missing as well. How are they involved? Have they been killed or kidnapped too?

Nice characters you want to learn more about. Maby in thext novel in this series?

Definitely liked this style of writing and so I am looking forward to reading more books by her.

Lost, abducted or just wandered off?

A good read with a strong plot but it really didn't give you enough insight into the characters. This might change in future books but at present they don't actually live in front of you.
When her father gives her a new case and she opens it, she knows it's going to be bad. Any case involving children always is. However her strong feeling of wanting to help makes her go along with it. Watch as she delves into the family and moves from location to location as the visions hit. Especially once another boy goes missing. One that has always been a bully. Will she unravel all the visions and find the boy?

Fun cozy crime mystery!

A young boy is missing from his home overnight and Piper Ashwell has been brought in to help solve the case. If you are a PI, being a psychic can definitely help with cases but Piper does not always like the information that floods her head when she touches people or the items that they cherish.

Even though she has helped the Weltunkin Police Department solve numerous cases the only one who believes in her is her father, Detective Thomas Ashwell. Most of the other officers are either skeptical or contemptuous of her abilities. All except for Detective Mitchell Brennan that is. He is just plain annoying and always seems to be running into her.

The case heats up when a second boy disappears and Piper's abilities tell her that the two incidents are related in an entirely unexpected way.

This was a fun read. The characters are likeable and the plot has some good twists. I received a free copy but my review is voluntary.

I was about to start the first book in this series, when I noticed this novella. I thought it would explain all about the protagonist’s past, but it was instead about a different case.

I can’t say I was disappointed, I enjoyed the writing and the story. It seems that Piper does use her powers a lot, and while I was afraid that her abilities would work only conveniently when the plot needed, I was surprised that they were incorporated in the story well.

The kidnapping made sense, I was pleased with the ending and I found the culprit’s actions in the last bit only a little melodramatic.

I am definitely going to try and read some of the main books.

This book was brilliant, I found I was hanging onto the story, I wanted this Boy to be found, I believe in Psychics, I know they are not given the respect they deserve, I loved the story, I felt for the police as they have a job to solve, and there are the NON believers and I want people to know this can happen in real life, Kelly Hashway has got the story line perfect, and this was well written, I look forward to reading her next, close to real story, I can see this will help people if the need comes

A Sight for Psychic Eyes

A very good detective story. The PI in this case is a Psysic Investigator. Together with her father, who is with the police department, they are trying to find a missing kid. All of a sudden another kid, who has been bullying the first one, goes missing too. Who could have taken them? Why was the bully taken, also. Then the Uncle of the first boy goes missing. Did he take the boys? A very good book with believable characters. Maybe even a hint of romance for the next book! A must read.

Easy and enjoyable read but.....

This Author has taken the theme and series title from Victoria Laurie an her Psychic Eye series. Though this book has enough differences that it was not a complete ripoff I am never a fan of an author that cannot come up with their own basic ideas. While her characters were different they were also blueprint. I did like the storyline and the authors ability to relax and ease her audience into the story. I can't wait to read her own original works.

Nice Intro

This book seems to be a good introduction to Piper and her abilities as a psychic. The story was good and quick. My only criticism is that the writing seems short/stilted/staccato. It took me a bit to adapt...but I likened it to DragNet from back in the day and that worked well with the police/psychic framework. Looking forward to seeing how the characters develop in this series.

Quick cozy read

I love mysteries, especially cozy ones. For a quick short read this was good, but it was missing something, and i am not sure what it was. Perhaps usually reading longer ones makes me feel there was not enough back story. But i would definitely read this author again.

This is the first first time reading this author. This is a quick, short story that is a real page turner. The main character is Piper who is a psychic and sometimes works with her dad who is a cop. They are working a missing child case and Piper is getting all kinds of hits that help a lot and they get to the child. I couldn't put it down. Will look for more by this author.

A great beginning!

I usually don't go for "cozy mysteries" but something about the title and description of the book, reeled me in. I'm glad I chose another path rather than the genre I'm used to! This story is a great beginning to new series. I look forward to reading the next book. I highly recommend this book.

Two strikes and a foul

A young boy has disappeared from his house, and so has the older boy who has been bullying him. Time to call in Piper, a psychic who has a way of finding lost children! Great fast paced story full of twists and turns. Only a four star because it is short, but a great read.

Piper is working a kidnap case.

This is a fast paced book, because you have only do long to find a kidnapped child. Piper is working with her father, partly because he's the only one who understands her psychic powers.

Read and enjoy.

Fun short book

A psychic PI helps her dad, a police detective, find a missing boy. We see how her gift works. And there is this other detective who drives her crazy. A good intro to the series.

Quick, exciting read

Love the tension between characters. A pleasure to read a shorter story that's long on personalities & excitement. Made want to buy the whole series right now.

This a starter prequel novella for the Piper Ashwell series. Being a novella it does not have much time to really develop the characters and being a first person narrative does not help. That aside, I really enjoyed the story and am looking forward to reading the full length books.

Reads Like A TV Show

I binged a whole season of Castle today, and I couldn't help but see this okay out like a police detective show on TV. Being a short story it has just the right amount of elements for an hour long (including commercials) show.
