An Awesome Threesome Story With Stress+Troubles and solving it all Together with Sex *HOT*, Smartness, Care & Love! Julie, Christopher, Dante are Fun!
After 'Seduction games' (Andi's story), I was excited for this story! This one is longer than SG & is entirely 3rd person (3 MC's POVs). Though this story is gripping, It took me Days to complete it as I was reading some other books & ARCs.
Julie is Andi's Partner in their Bakery Venture. Dante is their investor (How he came to be, we saw in SG) and Christopher is Dante's Boyfriend. Dante, Chef+Investor, & Julie always banter while Chris, Former Sex therapist+IT Guy, is the Calm one.
There's lot of individual history with the 3 that is important for their present. Julie and Dante+Christopher had 3some relationships in past & it hadn't end well.
When Stress of work become too much, Dante+Chris Offer Julie a Chance to unwind by giving up her Control, In Bedroom. *HOT sex!!* (Atleast Dante & Julie's banter lowers!)
But as Andi+Julie's Shop's Grand-opening comes close, someone is sabotaging it all, causing problems. But who? Why? Dante seems to thinks it's 'cause his name's connected with the bakery and as we find it in last, he's sorta right..Not fully though.
As Dangers Grow & Past truths come out, Chris+Dante grow close to Julie.. Feelings Budding. Their 3some sex is hot but can they get over their fear of the '3some Couples' not lasting & accept whats in front of them? LOVE.
Lot happens in the story, some causing tension b/w Andi & Julie; Chris & Dante. I'm glad that they get past that!
The ending was fulfilling & Sweet. The epilogue's Short+Cute!
Going into this book, I knew that Dante and Julie weren't exactly on friendly terms. Dante was the investor in Julie and Andi's cookie business and he and Julie were both control freaks, neither wanting to concede control over business decisions.
That didn't change much in this book. Julie was incredibly annoying and seemed to be mean just to be mean. I got it at first, she was defensive and didn't like someone having control over her business and creative process. But when Dante was simply trying to help when it was obvious she was overwhelmed and she just pushed him away and was hateful, I just couldn't give Julie the benefit of the doubt. Eventually she 'warms up' to Dante, but not until Christopher (Dante's boyfriend) comes into the picture and sweet talks her into ceding control in the bedroom.
So if I hated Julie so much, why did I give this book 4 stars? Because the bedroom action was incredibly hot ... it certainly kept me intrigued and wanting to know what they'd do next.
I actually liked Dante. He was a bit harsh at first, but he began to soften and didn't let Julie wear him down too much. He turned into a good guy, even if he was pretty stupid when it came to his relationship and how his job was impacting it.
Christoper was a surprise. Who knew the sex therapist turned IT guy could be so dominating? He was certainly hot and I had to admire his dedication to his relationship, despite him drawing the short stick an awful lot.
The suspense wasn't very suspenseful. It was incredibly predictable and the 'whodunit' was pretty obvious right away. I honestly didn't expect this book to have that type of drama and it seemed a bit out of place given the first book in the series.
The ending seemed way too rushed and glossed over. I'm not quite sure where they all ended (I think there was some online cooking show that Dante/Julie did). But at least they get their HEA.
I didn't like any of the characters, not even Andi that I adored in the first book. The anger to love between two of the characters was to hard to believe and made me hate both before we got to that.
Oh boy. A rare swing and a miss from Allyson Lindt. I really like the others from her I’ve read, but this book suffers from unlikeable characters that spend too much time fighting and a completely unnecessary and unbelievable plot complication. It’s probably a 1.5 because there are bits of her usual writing skill peeking through, but I legit did not like this book.
To start, the characters: in this book we’re picking up on Julie’s story, the other half of a duo of women starting a unique cookie business and bakery. (Andi’s story is the first - and much better - entry in this series, and even though she’s in this one, you don’t need to know it in order to read this book). Julie is a control freak, and because of it, pretty much a b*tch. She has to work with Dante, the fancy TV chef star and investor in the business, to prep for the bakery opening and episode feature on his show. Dante is also a control freak and a b*tch. These two spend nearly all their time fighting, and like, not in a sexy way - not to this reader at least.
Dante’s in a relationship with Christopher, who is a former sex therapist-turned-IT guy (yes really, lol). Due to some backstory about how they got together, and Julie’s backstory with an ex, they are all quite hesitant and cagey about three-person relationships. This doesn’t stop them from hooking up under the flimsiest of pretenses: teaching Julie to “give up control” and “blowing off steam” from their stressful workplace.
The way Lindt writes it their workplace IS hella stressful! Normally I like realism in my erotica but I wish it had been dialed waaayyyy down in this book. You wouldn’t believe how many obstacles these three have to deal with on the way to opening the bakery, including a series of escalating mishaps that end in property damage and a hospital trip for one of the characters. All this of course provides more opportunity for them to fight, stubborn-ass Julie and Dante especially! Ugh!!!
The workplace accidents end in a REALLY cheesy, predictable, overly dramatic and UNNECESSARY plot twist that has the two dudes swooping in to save Julie. I hate this kind of stuff but it can be done much, much better than it was here. Allyson Lindt even used nearly the same plot device in another of her books! (I didn’t really like it too much there either but at least it was better done.)
All in all, this means despite generally strong writing this book committed the cardinal sin of any romance: I just did not believe the relationship between the characters, from the moment they got together right up til the end. AND, even worse, it wasn’t any fun at all watching them get there! Even the sex scenes failed to ignite anything. Not even a low flame.
I paid full-price money for this, which I’m only not mad about because I think I’ve gotten Lindt’s work on discount or free before. It averages out I suppose, but dammit, the next one I pick up by her better be a whole hell of a lot better. Yes, I’ll keep reading, but right now, Ms. Lindt, you are on notice.
Of course they will; a book cover with a sexy MFM sandwich, a coy look, and handcuffs doesn't climax in a tea party.
As much as I enjoy the author's style, this one didn't do a lot for me. One male lead is too surly, the other a bit bland, and the female lead too indecisive and anguished. The dramatic tension and mysterious attacker were fairly obvious. While the sex scenes are well done, the plot seemed to drag.
An example of the writing:
“It’s not about putting you in line. It’s about you recognizing that letting someone else have control can be as rewarding as taking all the responsibility for yourself. You jump in, head first. Baptism by immersion. Giving it all up at once, because you trust the person you’re with, so you can recognize what doesn’t destroy you, makes you stronger.”
Julie and Andi are opening their bakery and having a segment filmed for their investor-Dante- on his show. But Julie cannot get along with Dante, and they keep getting sabotaged which is affecting Christopher's security settings... But sometimes you need to make lemonade.
The boys hadn't been looking for a third, and a women in fact. Julie wasn't looking for heartbreak again after a failed triad before. But sometimes it's the right timing.
I enjoyed this story. Would love to have read more about them post start up but definitely enjoyed the chemistry, banter, development and seeing them work things out all around.
Dante's arrogance and argumentative control of his "investment" in Julie's and her BFF's bakery business was driving her over the edge of reason. Why did they agree to be featured on his network hit TV show again? Good thing Christopher, his boyfriend, was there to help smooth ruffled egos, when he wasn't fixing or replacing security cameras that keep going out. Someone is sabotaging the bakery and they're behind schedule for the grand opening so Julie should be grateful her talented ex is available to help, but she can't get over the weird feeling things aren't quite right. Another excellent read from the extremely talented mind of Allyson Lindt.
A well written "menage" romance driven storyline. Both Dante and Christopher were hot and appealing for very 7 thought provoking and insightful. The heroine was well cast and was real.
All in all, although menage love interest is present, they are hot but the whole book isn' t just for sex scenes - good story too!!
I am always honest, and My rating requirements , of course, differ. I have read a few books from this author. Hashtag series was cute. Book 1 of "Cookies" was cute. This one lacked the details that create empathy, sympathy, or any other emotion. I finished it a few months after starting this read, and it has few errors which gave it my 3 star rating. Unless you are easy to please, it isn't worth the money.
This was quite a read of emotions, experiences and very intense relationships between all the characters. It was nice to delve into the pasts of everyone to get a better understanding of their actions. Add in the mysterious things happening in the bakery, and trying to figure it out kept me extra glued to the book. I loved the geeky references and all the fun between the main trio. All around, I loved this book!
I had read Seduction Games when it came out last year and Control Games was just a teaser. My TBR list is big and I made the mistake of not preordering it to remind me. Luckily, I was reminded of it this morning. Julie, Dante, and Christopher were exactly what I needed to get through my day. Allyson Lindt never fails to deliver on sexy scenes and tender moments.
This was truly Allyson’s best work that I’ve read so far. The characters all had depth, baggage, and complexity and the sex was naughty and kinky at times. This ménage has to be my favourite three person relationship that I’ve read and it really demonstrated Allyson’s skill as a writer and her grasp of the complexity that relationships, especially poly ones, can bring. Loved it.
Stuboron heroine, heroes who sneak in under her radar, what's not to love?
Because of her past, Julie refuses to see a future with Dante and Christopher. When things go wrong at the bakery, the guys step in to help in more ways than one. Hang on for a wild ride if learning how to love again!
Great read, budding romance between two men and a woman
Great read!!! Loved this series. This book is about Julie a baker who owns the shop with her friend and she paints gaming characters on the cookies. They needed some investing and the investors are two men and the attraction between the three is explosive.
This hating/loving idea was really enjoyable. The added kink was great aswell, not too much, just enough. I enjoyed the story as a whole and the characters were well written and stayed true to themselves all the way through. It was lovely to see the characters from book one aswell, always nice when they're not just left behind.
There's a psychopath. There's a heroine being unreasonably bitchy all the time. There's a TV chef. There's a ex-sex therapist turned security camera specialist. Plus a BFF with 2 BFs. AND NOBODY SPEAKS COHERENTLY THROUGH THE ENTIRE BOOK! It never makes a lick of sense. Even the 3 ways are weirdly disjointed.
Wow! What a great book, the Christopher,Dante and Julie had so much chemistry going for them ..and her sick ex what a bummer ...This was a great read n to top it off Andi,Kane, and Isaiah was featured in the book was a great a way to catch up on them....
AMAZING BOOK for the record. If you’re ever looking into 3-way relationships, this author has your back. There’s a lot to the story line and you can feel the character grow in a 3rd person perspective throughout the story. This book is the perfect mix of climax.
I really enjoyed the first book in this series but to be honest I found this one had too much tension with two of the characters taking out their frustrations verbally with little thought on the hurt caused by their words to really enjoy the story
I got a bit of a modern pride and prejudice (Elisabeth&Mr Darcy)vibe between Julie and Dante. And I absolutely loved it. Just like the other books I read this one is amazing. And these are by far the best written books about MMF/poly amorous relationships.
I liked the book, the story and most of the characters. I just did not like the main female character in this book. She annoyed me and made me mad to the point I would have to stop reading. It took me a little longer to read this one, when I read the first one in one day.
This is book two in the series. Meet the lovely Julie. Julie's living her one true dream. Her dream is opening up a video-game style and themed cookie shop with her best friend. However it turns out even her dreams come with so much stress and long sleepless nights. The primary investor for the cookie shop is Dante. Dante, is totally overbearing in real life just as Dante is on his famous and award winning cooking show. On the flip side of the coin, Dante's totally sexy as hell, but his boyfriend, Christopher is different. Christopher's such a kind and gorgeous. Christopher's also very drool-worthy geek of a guy.
When the tensions get hot quickly of trying to keep Julie's business together. It then threatens to tear Julie's career apart. Luckily Christopher's got a solution for it all and that's helping to teach Julie to share the workload. However ff Julie can surrender total control in the bedroom. This might help Julie delegate in the office.
Now what starts as a game where there's the need for blindfolds and submission. They are the board pieces becomes way more serious than first thought. That's until the lovely Julie discovers that both Dante and Christopher have been keeping a huge secret from Julie that then shatters all the trust she gave to both Dante and Christopher. That then leaves their hearts and their jobs one big move away from admitting that it's game over. Is it game over for their friendship and the cookie shop?
Wow! Absolutely loved this story! Great characters, great plot, great storyline. Allyson's insight into people and their emotions is so spot on. I can totally relate. And it's awesome and inspiring!
