Arielle Miller has had a bad year, she’s lost more than any 18 year old should. Now she’s starting over, new state, new city, new life. She’s attending college, getting her degree and maybe, just maybe, starting to heal.
He wasn’t supposed to be here. He wasn’t meant for her.
Colton Dawson shouldn’t look at her the way he does, shouldn’t make her feel the way he does and yet he’s holding back, keeping her at a distance.

Being an avid reader from a young age, Eve still considers herself to be a reader first. She believes there is nothing better than getting that new book either on your e-reader or in your hands, and the fact she may bring that excitement to a fellow reader, fills her with wonder. She writes under a pen name because otherwise her Secret Agent status will be revoked.
Eve lives in the North East of Scotland, with her three coffee machines and her significant other, Mr. M. She enjoys NFL Football, music and having long conversations with the voices in her head, which sometimes turn into the stories she writes.
Unbroken Devotion by Eve L. Mitchell is the first book in The Boulder Series.
Ari and Cole’s story is an emotional rollercoaster as you feel everything the author has written from the heartache, loss, love, happy moments and everything in between.
There’s nothing typical or predicable about the story, and the way each plot point unravels you’ll be captivated. I know I was. Along with having characters that are unique and “real” makes it very easy to become lost in the words.
The republished version of this book, in some ways felt like starting again and connecting with these characters and world on a new level. But it also felt like coming home and reading a comfort story that will always hold a special place in my heart. For anyone who hasn’t read this series or who has and loved The Boulder Series, you need to read these!
The flow of the story is seamless and even having read this as Indian Summer, I was floored by the writing throughout.
I don’t think my review does this story the justice it deserves, but for me Unbroken Devotion will be a permanent favourite book and the way the author has manage to recapture my attention as if this was a completely brand new story is truly remarkable.
Original review for Indian Summer: Sometimes the universe puts you in the right place at the right time, and the discovery of Eve L. Mitchell’s Indian Summer, just happened to arrive at the perfect time for me.
Without giving away the storyline, just know that I personally was so absorbed in the world Eve created. The storyline is perfect, beautiful, and emotional at times, with characters you’ll love and who are individual in each of their own ways.
I highly recommend Indian Summer which is the debut YA/NA contemporary romance novel by Eve L. Mitchell. If I could shout it from the rooftops for everyone to know about it, I would do that. So if your reading this and wondering if you should read this book, don’t think, just one click.
I’m definitely going to need to do a re-read of this book again soon, as I loved it so much.
If you enjoy YA or NA you will enjoy this book. It follows the story of Arielle as she navigates great loss at the end of adolescence. As she tries to put the past behind her it finds her once again and this time she won't run away.
I enjoyed the tension between the two MCs. The slow build really drives the story. I watched the characters grow throughout the book and can see the potential for further growth as the novel ends. The group dynamic between the core characters has a strength I can feel as I devoured this book. There was only one moment when the angst in the situation reminded me why I didn't want to be fresh out of high school again.
While I wasn't a fan of the name Arielle at the beginning, I now think it's a strong, lovely name. I look forward to Mitchell's next novel. I know it will only get better.
Only word I have for this book is: I freaking loved it. Despite being a debut novel this book is nothing like typical debut. Plot and its growing is just prefect. Characters are created in such incredible way that we feel them real, all book feels so real, I got completely transported into this world. Each person coming with his/her specific set of qualities. The feelings in this group of friends are strong, and so different, unique for each interaction. We find friendship, love, betrayal, hate, care, despite, aggressiveness, regrets, passion and so much more. We even get in unexpected twists, secrets and dangerous side of things. I finished the book almost in single sitting, that says a lot about it. If you like contemporary romance, you will fall in love with it; if you don’t - well, get over it and read it still.
I can’t believe that this is Ms Mitchell’s first novel. Right from chapter one, I was completely enthralled. I literally read this book in one day, couldn’t put it down! You can’t help but adore these boys.... Cole, Theo and Matt. I laughed so much! Even Corey is adorable. I loved how Arielle grew during the book. She just became stronger with each page, learning to stand up for herself. She faced so many trials my heart broke for her at times. I adored the ending, but could have done with a bit more nooky detail. When you have to wait up until the end of a book for it, you expect explosions 😉
All in all it was a fabulous debut novel! Huge congrats!
This is not "a" debut novel, this is THE debut novel you absolutely don't want to miss! Mitchell has scored a touchdown with her first venture into YA/NA romance with a story that steps far outside the norm. Expect a rollercoaster of emotion that will make you laugh, cry and end wanting more. Hands down 5-stars for Indian Summer, can't wait to see what else this author has in store!
What a debut! Eve L. Mitchell delivers a riveting story with Indian Summer! A unique slow burn new adult romance that is a true roller coaster of emotion. Typically slow burn is not my thing. I’m in love with love and impatient to boot so a slow burn has to be truly captivating to keep me going and this book was beyond even that. The unique dynamic of this group of friends that are really more of a family, coupled with intriguing mystery kept me glued to the pages while the chemistry and pull between Arielle and Colton built up to something explosive. Before I even fell in love with Arielle and Colton I fell in love with their entire group. Not since Tijan’s Fallen Crest series have I found a YA/NA group that was so tightly knit but also loaded with the kind of drama that makes you fly through the pages needing to know what happens next they way this group does. Every page had another moment that had me either gasping, yelling, swooning or crying. I genuinely hope there will be more of this group in the future, and if there is I’m calling dibs on Matt now!
This is an incredible YA/NA contemporary romance! These characters are perfect, poor Elle has been through so much and is so fiercely protective of her guys. Cole is dreamy as hell, so is Theo and Matt is the best friend we all have and love. This family is one amazing group and I’m sad that the book ended. The conflict and struggles throughout were real life issues and easy to relate to as are the true feeling that came across in the writing. Eve L. Mitchell made me laugh out loud and ugly cry, she did such an amazing job with the writing of this book. I cannot wait to read more of her works in the future! I highly recommend this to anyone looking to read a fantastic, drama/emotion filled YA/NA Contemporary Romance.
This debut novel by Eve L Mitchell is THE book for all YA/NA book lovers. It has angst, lust, fighting, and a story plot you’ll love. I absolutely loved Aaron who was an anti-hero of the book. You must add this to your reading list.
First book I’ve read of Eve L Mitchell and I will definitely recommend this book. I LOVE LOVE the characters. I love byplay and fun conversations and Eve does it well. I instantly wanted to read it all over again. I can’t wait to read her others.
Waves you over frantically! You have to read this book. Our main character just wants to move on with her life and start her College education without the distractions boyfriends bring. She is not looking to hook up, but she runs across her High School Secret Crush. Too bad it's her ex-boyfriend's brother. He's loved her from afar for as long as he can remember. All he wants to do is Love her, but he has a secret that could prevent it from happening, and it's all his little brother's fault...I absolutely love this story. If you were looking for a clean young romance with real life twists, then I have the book for you. The detail in here is awesome. Come meet Ari, Cole, Matt, Theo and see where the journey takes you.
This was a great YA/NA read, to be honest you almost forget they are in college, Arielle is part of a group of 5 friends, her boyfriend Connor, Connors elder brother (Colton) and Colton's 2 friends (Theo and Matt) they an extremly tight knit group but Ali had no idea how much Colton, Theo and Matt really looked out for her. Things change forever for Ari when a series of life changing events rock her to the core, she is left alone, heartbroken and doing what she can to shelter her life from further devastation. This book has captivating characters, and a roller coaster ride of emotions from happy, devastated, funny, mystery, lies, twists and surprises and the want for love to see its way through. Be warned you are best to have some tissues near by as I dare you to read this and not shed one!
It's intense, it's a little dangerous, it's sexy, it's smart, and so much more.
The author did a spectacular job of her first novel.
The dynamic between her and her friends, her and Colton, her and Connor. It was all believable. I loved how there was the shift in dynamics with her and Connor, the fact that his current GF was fine with her. . . . THAT was refreshing, and whilst the general "rule" is that current GF's aren't okay with exes, it was nice to see this friendship being the exception. . . because that DOES exist in the real world.
The story was engaging, the writing was wonderful, and the idea new and extremely entertaining.
I can't wait to see what else this author has in store.
OMG! I devoured this book! I loved the dinamics of this group of characters. The way the story was layed out had me thinking that I was there as it all happened. I couldn't wait to see what happened next in the story. A definite page turner. Loved that Ari grew with the story. Theres also Colton that'll get your reader heart melting. Not to mention how I get so many feels for Matt and Theo. Matt and Theo just crack me up. This book is definitely on my reread list!
This book was steamy! I loved every minute of it, I couldn’t put it down! Eve did a wonderful job of keeping me on my toes and falling in love with every character, and the love and friendships in this book were well thought out, I absolutely loved this!!! If your looking for a book to put you to sleep, THIS IS NOT FOR YOU! This book is so yummy, you won’t want to let it out of sight!
Indian Summer is Eve L. Mitchell's debut novel and while it did read like one, in the beginning, it was in no way a bad read. In fact, I ended up giving Indian Summer five stars because despite the info-dumpy beginning (which in no way took from the story) I could barely put it down. And once I was 20% through the story, I was hooked.
The story had an angsty romance but focused primarily on family, friendship, and the lengths we as people, are willing to go to protect those we love, even if it sometimes means sacrificing our own happiness. One of my favorite quotes from the end of the story is, "It's good to have you home Ari," because to me this quote represents the story which is in a way, all about coming home, not physically, but spiritually. It's about finding your tribe, starting over, and realizing that your tribe was with you all along.
Also, it's about Matt and Theo, two of the greatest characters to ever exist, steamy Colton, his sometimes hulkishly angry brother Connor, and Ari, who is their fourth <3
This book is HOT! Ari and Colton smoulder through this whole book. It was a page turning sizzler. I dont want to spoil it but the southern flair and all too familiar female struggles were portrayed perfectly. I felt like I was IN the book not reading it and could not put it down. Love love love!!!
HOLY CRAP, fellow book devourers. I LOST ALL THE SLEEP over this book. It was riveting, from start to finish, and so much more than the same-old-same-old contemporary romance novel. For a first novel, I'm astounded at Eve's mastery of the craft and how compelling she made Arielle our heroine's journey from start to finish. Seriously, go, right now and get your copy so you can fall into Colton's green, unfathomable eyes. But I'm warning you, once through will not be enough! *Miri dives back under the doona with her kindle*
*I have received an ARC in exchange for an honest review
What can I say, I am at loss for words at how good this book was. It was such a fun read. I loved, loved the angst and tension between the heroine and the hero.
First off Arielle is the most strongest and resilent heroine I have ever read. There is so much stuff that happens in her life that shouldn't happen to anyone. And with how she deals with the stuff is amazing. Arielle just keeps on going and keeps her head high. I love how she just takes it day by day and pursues her dreams. Arielle never gives up. Her journey through this book has shown never to give up on yourself.
Now, on to Colton. Colton is the biggest sweetie out there. He is so sweet to Arielle. I loved how he is super dreamy, but also very realistic. The author does a great job of making realistic characters who are ones you root for but also fall for. Colton's love for Arielle was amazing. I loved how he cared for his girl and was extremely patient with her. He never pushed her. He is the perfect blend of sweet and alpha male.
The romance in this novel was phenomenal. I just was sucked into the love story of Arielle and Colton from the very first word. They have so much angst, but there is such a nice slow-burn and no unnecessary drama in place. I liked how each character gets the time to recover from the past and mend their broken pasts. There isn't any rushing. But, there is ton of chemistry.
The themes and writing in this novel is A+. What I liked is how the author touches on many difficult topics. There are many topics such as abuse, death, alcohol and other stuff, however, none of it is triggering and instead focuses on the repercussions of the stuff. The difficult topics really make the reader sucked into the story, but show how strong they are.
All in all, this is an amazing novel from an amazing first time author. I can't wait to read more of what the author has in store.
I will start off saying I normally read paranormal books and it takes a really good contemporary book to hold my attention. This book explored some really difficult issues and while some were just on the surface others were more pronounced. The one thing that I am glad of (without giving too much away) is the resolution of a couple issues required outside help vs everything being AOK - more realistic for the situation. Loved them as a family, everyone needs that. Everyone needs a Matt and Theo in their life! A very good read - as another review said - have the tissues handy!
Eve L Mitchell’s debut story is a romance rocker. From heart ache and heart wreck to sizzling scenes that leave you aching for a reconciliation between the characters, Indian Summer is a brilliant college romance read. I had been waiting for my copy and it was no disappointment! Some great convoluted twists and a wonderful over arching plot carries you right through to the end. Can’t wait for her next book.
I absolutely love discovering new authors!! I'm really looking forward to see what she does in the future. As I read this one I found it very hard to believe that this was her debut book because it didn't feel that way to me. The storyline was amazing and flowed beautifully. And the characters were very relatable and so real. It took me on a crazy rollercoaster ride of emotions. This was a page turner from being to end.
I’ve seen this book pop up on so many TBR lists I figured I’d give it a try. Not Disappointed at all! LOVE Ari! She needs to quit being so stubborn and a certain Male Character too! Really enjoyed this!
This debut novel by new author Eve L Mitchell simply blew me away. I loved every second of it, from a fabulous storyline to the very believable, lovable characters who grew and evolved as the story progressed. I particularly loved the main characters inner dialogue which often had me laughing out loud. The interaction between this group of friends is both funny and realistic and I believe every reader will be able to identify with the down to earth, everyday emotions the characters each and collectively experience. Ms Mitchell’s style of writing is both witty, expressive and so effortlessly fluid that it is frankly astonishing to realise that this is in fact her first novel! It is an absolute triumph and I cannot wait to read more from this author. In my humble opinion: A star is born. Bravo Ms Mitchell, Bravo!
There is only one thing left to say..... When is book number 2 available?
This debut book by Eve L Mitchell hooked me from the very beginning.
There were tears and feelings galore from tragedy to victory. The family dynamics with Colton, Theo, Matt, Connor and Arielle are heartwarming.
All in all it’s a fantastic read and worthy of my five stars. I couldn’t put the book down once I started reading it, nor could I sleep and I definitely had the book hangover to prove it the next day.
