Lola Gabriel loves reading and writing paranormal romances. Growing up in the Pacific Northwest, she has fond memories of retreating to the woods for long hikes. The towering evergreens, natural waterfalls, and soothing rain often set the scenery for her characters' romantic encounters.
*Lola Gabriel was created by a group of friends who all write under the nom de plume. For the sake of simplicity, we use “she” and “I” for Lola’s communication.
Dragons, shifters, surprise baby and premonitions of doom?!?! Add that yummy cover and I was ready to jump right in.
Sadly it was a DNF @ 68%
I might finish it later on but right now I’m bored AF and just can’t push myself to continue. There’s no tangible chemistry between the MCs. It almost feels like this is the second half of the story. They’ve already fallen in love so my favorite part of a romance read is basically told through dry flashbacks. She’s 7 months preggers at the start of the story and it’s a anti-climactic reunion to say the least.
There’s a lot of little things that bugged me throughout. One of my biggest pet peeves, the emotions are told and not shown so it didn’t grab my attention. The sizzle was more of a fizzle and … yeah, just lost interest. I’m in the mood for some good shifter reads and I feel like lately they’ve been duds :(
A good read but it felt anticlimactic. Carlyle was made to be a villain so I kept waiting for the other foot to drop, it never did. That left me unsatisfied.

I just feel like shrugging while trying to write this but I can't convey that very well in this review. Its just an OK book really not even that OK. Would I read again?: Probably not Would I read this author again?: Not sure on this one...

Mate's Baby is the story of Olive and Asher, 2 lovers who face adversity differently: Olive runs away and Asher gives up. The story begins with a seven month pregnant Olive on the run from Asher and his legacy as a dragon shifter, unaware that her friend Esme hides a secret of her own. While this book is written well, I felt the author should have included the story of Olive and Asher's first meeting and their ensuing relationship. IMHO, I wanted more background story. Instead, I felt as though I missed the opening chapters of a really great book. 3 1/2 stars

For adults only (18+ years) Contains subject matter that may be a trigger, or offensive to some, including: adult language, adult intimate scenes, and violence (fighting, attempted kidnapping, etc.). If any of these types of situations are a trigger or offensive to you, then this may not be the story for you.
This story begins with Olive on the run from her mate and his family. She left Asher, a dragon shifter, when she discovered she was pregnant and started to fear for the life of her child. Olive knew that a dragon hadn't been born in 500 years and she started to have dreams that Asher's father, the king of the dragons, would hunt and kill her child if he discovered she was pregnant.
Asher has been completely depressed since Olive left him. It felt like half of his soul was missing. The hardest part was he didn't know why she left. He searched for 4 months and only stopped when his siblings spoke with him. Now it was difficult for him to get out of bed and make it through the day.
Then he received word that his father had called a family meeting, so he made himself get dressed and report to the family "business". When he arrives his father begins and lets them know that a couple of the scouts had scented a mortal female pregnant with a dragon baby. It had been so long it had taken them a moment to realize what it was and then they tried to locate her but couldn't do to the number of people around.
Now Carlyle wants the woman found and assigns it to Asher and Sebastian, his brother, to locate her. So the hunt begins ... what will happen if Asher finds her and discovers that it is Olive, his mate, that is the pregnant woman they seek? Will he tell his father and family? And if so, will it place his mate and child in danger?

In this book we meet Olive and Asher. 500 years ago a dragon in human form burned a witch on an alter when he did this the witch first tried to tell the people about him being a dragon. No one listen as he burned her she cast a spell that he didn't know. Now the dragon's have not been able to conceive a child since that day. However there is a human who has one. When Olive found out she was pregnant she started having dreams. She is never sure if they are dream, nightmares, or premonitions. All she know is she can never stay in one place for long. Asher is a shell of himself ever since his mate left him. So when he finds her again he knows he has to do everything he can. Can these two find a HEA or will the burdens they carry be to much?
This is an amazing story. It does have its ups and downs I really want to tell you about. However I don't want to ruin the story for any other readers. I will say this is a story that will have you hooked from the first word to the very end. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.
The Dragon clan was cursed when the First Dragon burned and killed the First Witch of the Coven in Europe. They've been doomed with a curse that will end their line since it's been five hundred years since the last dragon baby was born. Asher is of the Royal Dragon line; son of the King, grandson to the First Dragon. He can't for the life of him understand why his true destined mate, Olive, up and left him months ago without so much as a 'by your leave'. Olive, a human and true destined mate to Asher finds out she's pregnant. She was sure Asher had informed her that he couldn't father children. To make matters worse, she keeps having these reoccurring dreams where her father in-law takes the baby and kills it. When rumors come back to the king the scent of a dragon baby was in the air, he immediately commissioned Asher and his brother to find the woman and bring the baby to the castle. In the kings mind, this baby will be what gives the other dragon clans enough leverage to dethrone him. There's action, adventure, good vs. evil, true fated mates and love. It was a good dragon shifter story that gave me a few hours of enjoyment.
"An Exciting Dragon shifter Romance" The storyline is exciting and unique. The characters have amazing personalities. The Dragon shifters were cursed by a witch. Back in the Salem witch trials. This is a five star plus story.
After five hundred years without children dragon scouts get a whiff of a dragon pregnancy. Dragon shifter Asher has fallen into a depressed state since Olive had left him six months ago. He and his brother Sebastian are sent to track what the scouts had reported of a human smelling like dragon but the scent kept disappearing as there had been no dragon births for five hundred years. Olive had left Asher as she was frightened what his father would do when he found out she was pregnant and with her friend Esme had been moving from one small town to the next. Then unable to sleep she goes to a diner and Asher appears at the window. Asher had gone for a drive just going where his instincts took him and ends up looking through a window of a diner at Olive. He is surprised when he finds she is seven months pregnant. A Dragon shifter romance to relax and enjoy.

500 years ago He accused a woman of witchcraft the reverend Osric was a dragon and this woman found out so he took her in front of the people and blamed her for everything bad that happened, little did Osric know that this old woman was actually a witch and before she died by fire at the stake she had cursed him. Present day Asher was on his way to a family meeting his father the king hated witches because their grandfather burned an important leader of the witches 500 years ago and she cursed his family actually all dragons to never be able to have dragon babies. But his father’s spies said that a mortal woman smelt of dragon but how could she be pregnant by a dragon when they were cursed. Now Asher’s father wants him to find the woman to find out how she fell pregnant to a dragon. That’s all I’m going to give you guys but this is another fantastic story by Lola Gabriel and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.
Asher is a dragon shifter and has lost his mate. She disappeared several months ago and hasn’t been seen since. When word comes that a couple of dragons smelled a dragon baby, Asher’s father sends him and his brother to find the pregnant human and bring her baby. This is the first dragon baby born in five hundred years because of a curse put on the dragons by a witch. Olive is pregnant and on the run with her best friend. Ever since she found out she was pregnant, she’s had dreams of Asher’s father killing the baby. When they accidentally run into each other, Asher is shocked to find out the baby is his. They run off until Olive goes into premature labor and must return the the estate to help with the baby. Will Olive’s dreams come true? Pretty good story but there is no explicit sex scenes as said by the the blurb on goodreads. Dragons, witches, and secrets. A love no matter how many miles or times has passed could destroy.
I love dragon stories and this one fit the bill. Due to Asher's grandfather, no dragon babies had been born for 500 years. It had to do with a curse a witch had made as they were burning her at the stake. Asher's father had heard about a human carrying a dragon baby and sent him out to find her. Little did he know that it was his baby. He had had a relationshp with Olive and she had disappeared. He was heartbroken and didn't know why she left. When he found her and discovered she was pregnant with his baby, it all started to make sense. Olive and her friend Esme were sure his father would kill the child and he would have if Asher hadn't prevented it. I like how Asher, Olive and even Esme worked together to find out how they got around the curse. It was a good story and fun to read.
A 500 year old curse there can be no dragon babies for their kind, and then......
Asher is in mourning so great that he's not who he used to be. He found his soul-mate and can't believe that she left him when she finds out something that couldn't happen. He spent a lot of time hunting for her but with no luck. Olive is shattered. Heart broken herself even though she brought it upon herself. Luckily she has her best friend Esme keeping her sane. They leave where she grew up and her parents to go on the run to that Asher couldn't find her. You can feel Asher's sadness and turmoil as well as Olive's. Olive has nightmares the she feels are real. Such a great story written by Lola. You see and feel the characters. Recommend this book.

This is the first story I read from this author, Lola Gabriel and I got to say this wasn't a waste of time and that I enjoyed reading every single second of this book :) It had everything you would want in a sort of second chance romance since Olive, who got pregnant by Asher, finding out about the curse, disappeared from his life in order to save their baby and Asher was sent to find a human female pregnant with a dragon baby, but he found out it was the woman that had taken his heart the moment she disappeared and now his baby too!
There's a lot going on like obstacles to overcome and treachery to reveal and even a little danger and twists/turns but Olive, Asher and their baby get their happy ending with the help and support of their good friend, Esme :)
Lola Gabriel has delivered another great story, this time of dragon shifters. The story is well written getting your attention quickly and has you hoping that love and babies always come out on top.
Witches and dragons have a long history if mutual hate of each other. Five hundred years ago witches killed almost all the dragons, then dragons killed almost all the witches. During the killings, one witch cursed the dragons. Since then dragon shifters have not conceived even one baby -- that is, until now. Will this little dragon survive to be born?
Another 5 stars for a good story that doesn't rely on lots of HEA to be successful.
Asher and Olive are star crossed lovers they had a relationship but it broke down (maybe more information was needed about this) They both handles the breakup differently Olive ran and went into hiding and Asher well he shut down emotionally. Now Asher has been tasked to find and kill the dragon baby that is rumoured to be arriving by hi father the king, what he doesn't know is that this child is his and Olive's When he realise he knows that he will do whatever it takes to keep her and his child safe. I knew going into this paranormal book that it is more of a novella and in that regard it’s a fairly good read but I’m greatly disappointed that the author would go to this much work for a novella but would continue to develop the story. The Royal Dragon Curse really had potential to be a truly amazing but as it’s written I wasn’t connected to the characters or their love and that’s a damn shame. I won’t be reading anymore of this author as I need more depth and I definitely need the heat and chemistry after all this is a romance novel so show me the love, the passion, the timeless adventure of the characters and their story.
Asher and Olive were deeply in love - so much so, that Asher showed her his deepest secret, that he was a dragon. When Olive realises that she is pregnant she is worried about Asher's family and her friend Esme helps her to escape. But a woman pregnant with a dragon baby has a certain smell and when the dragon king hears of it, he sends Asher in persuit. A lovely story of love and protection and politics that reach out over hundreds of years. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Sweet story about...hmm the possibility of spoilers is high. Two people not meant to come together manage to create a baby with their love. She runs, he grieves and is sent to find the woman who is pregnant to a dragon. An impossibility because an ages old curse has caused Dragons to be sterile. There are a few bumps in the road back to true love. Poor Olive doesn’t know who to trust anymore. It’s a good storyline and the characters are well presented. A little sharp editing would turn this into a fantastic story but it is still worth reading. Sometimes I’m too picky maybe.
Starting off slow but building up this story will keep you reading to the very end. Olive and Asher are deeply in love but when she becomes pregnant, something that is suppose to be impossible, she leaves. Asher is tasked to tracking down the dragon baby not realizing it's his baby. What will he do when he finds out it's Olive who is the person he's sent to track down. A good read and a surprise outcome.

This is the first book I've read by this author and I thought it was good. Olive and Asher were good together but had some obstacles standing in their way. One of those obstacles was Asher's father, the Dragon King, who had ordered her to be killed. Would the king change his mind once he found out Olive was his son's mate and his future grandchild's mother? I liked Asher and enjoyed the story. However, I thought it felt rushed at times. *I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. This is my honest review.*
She's running for her life....and something even more important. I absolutely loved this story. It has every single thing you could want. A love that is pure and true ✔ A story that is hundreds of years in the making ✔ A curse ✔ Dragons ✔ Witches ✔ A crazy king ✔ And a desperate mother that will do ANYTHING to save her baby ✔ Now if only Asher could find his mate then he would be happy -if only he didn't have to do this job for his father. An engrossing and enthralling book that had me gripped from the start.
Readers will be thrown into a fantastic paranormal love story about Olive a witch who falls in with Asher a dragon. When Olive fall pregnant, she flees out of fear for herself and her baby (for the dragons want her baby dead), Asher is sent by his father to destroy the baby. A well written story of a secret baby, being hunted, and finding true love. Full of fear, doubts, danger, suspense, secrets, a secret baby, passion, and love. I absolutely loved this book.

She is pregnant with the child of a dragon shifter. Dreams keep coming of her child being destroyed. So she runs. Who can she trust? Her best friend has helped to hide her but she is hiding secrets too. The father of the child always told her it was not possible to have children. She fear for her life and her child’s. But fate isn’t that cruel and she will fight and learn who to really trust. There is no actual fighting in the book but the romance is very sweet. The love of a mother for her unborn child is intense and wonderful.
Dragons have been cursed for 500 years because they killed a very powerful witch. Suddenly, someone scents an unborn dragon and the hunt is on. Olive left Asher but he never knew why. Then, he is called upon to hunt down this baby. He finds, to his surprise, that Olive is the mother and the baby is his. Can he convince her that he will love and protect both of them? And, how did this happen in the first place? A nice romance with a few plot twists and a possible To Be Continued.
