Throne of Wolves #2

Court of Alphas

Rate this book
Me? A princess?

Royal ballgowns and I don't mix, especially not when you throw in a bunch of stuffy old bureaucrats. I'm struggling to come to terms with my life in the royal palace, my newly reunited twin brother, and the alphas who've sworn their allegiance to me.

If my traitorous "father" gets his way, I'm gonna need all the help I can get, but that doesn't make sorting out my feelings for Christopher, Rowan and James easy. Then there's Mace, who's turned double dealing into an art form.

No one ever said being a royal was easy. I just never thought it would be this bloody.

Note: This is the second book in the Throne of Wolves series, and it contains themes for readers 18 and over. This is not a standalone, the books in this series should be read in order.

Court of Alphas picks up right where Book 1 left off… except perhaps skipping that initial “I’m a WHAT now?” shock.
The King (her brother) is not quite as powerful as one would like a King to be – there’s a group of old biddies constantly gnawing at his heels and making sure that HIS country is accordingly. And by accordingly, I mean, according to them. All of them suck.
However, that being said, he is everything that we’ve come to expect of good Kings (as per All Good Fairytales 101). He is kind, generous, caring, considerate, humble, honourable, sensitive and he has a lovely sense of humour. Albien is the real deal and I’m thrilled to see that he and Danica are already building on a connection that they still feel deeply. This King is a keeper!

We also have our old friends:
James, the Hybrid who has so much heart and sensitivity and possesses the kind of deep and abiding love that lives for the joy, safety and care of his love – we did not see James and all this total incredible soul beauty coming folks. He deals with so much judgement and discrimination and people fearing him without knowing a thing about him, and he does it with grace and heart and control. And, and this is a big one, James… James knows things! He is a sheep in wolf’s… I’ll stop now. James is my favourite.
Rowan, once heir apparent to a throne of his own (it was a much smaller throne though) – Rowan is initially an unknown quantity but as we grow through this book… man oh man… Rowan is like Crème Brulee – that hard exterior; still sweet, with a touch of caramelly bitterness forged by the heat of his own kind of suffering and a soft, sweet, amazing, creamy center. Rowan is my favourite.
Christopher, the lifelong best friend, turned distant, turned turned-up to fight for Danica at the trials – yeah, he’s still around and let me tell you something – a more secret scenter I have yet to see! But it’s still early so who knows who has more secrets than this little jack***(I meant center but do you get it? Wolves… scent… scenter???). I was walking a crazy balancing act between slap him, aaahhh he is a good.. a-hole, dammit, oh man he’s so… no gotta hurt him. It was a very traumatic time for me.

And then there’s our Danica, or Victoria… she prefers Dani… suddenly she’s a chick who likes pants who is now a Princess who must not wear them… what dodgyness is this? Something about that coronation was heavily weird though, guys, the undercurrents that started there were enough to cause a riptide that could drown everyone we actually like in this book!

And speaking of dodgyness and dicey things… These Pentarch Council people are all frigging dark and dangerous. And Mace. Have you ever wanted to use someone’s name as a weapon and use it on them? It’s ridiculous!

The amazing thing is that this story, for all it’s twists and turns and secrets and lies, is so well written that one feels almost breathless as your eyes fly over every word and yet, you never feel lost or disorientated. Isn’t it incredible how a well written story can pull you into the heart of it and have you feel like you’re right there in the thick of things?

What a fascinating tale of so much drama, fear, suspense, mystery, unanswered questions, intrigue and OMG, that ENDING! I just about read a couple of pages all over again just to catch myself up. Do take the time to be absorbed into the magic of this story and then prepare yourself for what is sure to be a fireworks display of an ending in Book 3.

Court of Alphas is the second book in this series; the first book, Throne of Wolves, should be read first. There are slight spoilers for book one in my review below so don't read any further if you haven't already read the first book.

This book picks up with Dani and her knights firmly established at the palace and we are told about their roles/status there, and introduced to the kind of advising/governing board of the royals, called the Pentarch, which Dani may not be able to trust. I kind of struggled with the first part of this book I think in part because everything is very surface, without a lot of depth/detail to the world or some of the characters. I'm also still not feeling an emotional connection between Dani and her guys, even at the end of book 2. I did enjoy the storyline involving Aedan and especially Mace, who I think really shines as the best male character of the series, and who I feel Dani has the most chemistry with. As in Book 1, the writing is of high quality and well-edited and though readers can predict the foil to the evil plot of this book, I do like the conflict it brings to the relationships and look forward to how that plays out in book 3.

Oh my God. Just when I thought I figured out what was going on... BAM! Another twist. Holy cow. Danica's life is even more complicated and twisted once she's in the palace than it was in the first book. I just cant get over how you think you know what's going to happen(hey we all make predictions), but then it just gets blown away. And the plot twists leave you craving more and more. I thought the first book was amazing, but this one? Oh yes. This one blows that book away. The writing is even better(which seemed impossible but its true). The storyline is more complex. The characters have more details to them. The range of emotions is exhilarating. I went through a gauntlet of feelings with this book and cursed at a few scenes. I dont ever give spoilers but man do I want to for a change. You'll have to just read the books to see why it's so great

This is book 2 to the Throne of Wolves and it’s a fantastic read, and this story starts where book 1 finished. Danika finds her brother and ends up at the palace with her men and is introduced to the king. There is so much I want to say about this story but I will keep it short, I don’t want to give away too many spoilers this book is just that good, there’s action, drama, mystery, twists and turns, danger, passion and so much more to keep you entertained and turning the pages. A fantastic story and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

Better Than Anticipated

This review is for books 1 & 2 and may contain spoilers.

I really enjoyed both books. I loved the MC though there were times when I really wanted to pull her from the story and have a CTJ meeting with her when she made bad decisions due to her misplaced guilt or responsibility. I also really enjoyed the male characters and the development of the MC's relationship with each. I was heart broken with a couple of them especially since the one I was routing for didn't have the motives I was hoping for. Anyway, I definitely recommend these books!

I received a free copy of this book however all thoughts are 100% my own.
Wow! What an adventure. Talk about twists and turns. I don't know who I'm vying for now! (Can't say anymore without a spoiler - but you'll see!). My only complaint - I'm being made to wait for the next book, I wanna know what happens!! Can't recommend this highly enough, this is definitely one of my top ten series of the year - what are you waiting for? Go read it!

Court of alphas

This book was full of secrets and betrayal from more than one person. I found myself unable to know how to feel about some of Danica’s men. Two of them remaining strong and by her side, one betraying her trust multiple times and another sending mixed messages. Just when you think you know who the villain is the conspiracy runs even deeper. I enjoyed this book so much and after the cliffhanger at the end I can’t wait to see how the story wraps up!

I loved seeing the relationships between Dani, James, Rowan and Christopher continue to grow. Dani is so brave and strong, it’s clear that she needs all of them to help them in her own ways. The twist and turns continue here in book two and getting trickles of new information was as frustrating and rewarding as it probably was for Danica.
I’m on Dani’s side with the news at the end of the book and can’t wait to see what’s next!

This book was a rollercoaster ride of emotions for me. It was steamy, suspenseful, romantic, and angsty all in one. I love the development of Dani's relationships with her guys and how unique each character is. There were a lot of secrets revealed in this book and I'm excited to see where book 3 takes the story.

Ahhhh

So much going on who to trust, who to love. Dani keeps choosing James yet he tells her to follow her heart with her other knights. All while still missing mace and her brother now going mia. So many secrets reveled and so many still hidden. The end will leave you jaw dropped and wishing book 3 was out now

Wonderful book

This is a great book I like all the twist and turns about Danicas  true parents.  It feels like you actually figure out what really happened but you don't. I also enjoyed her love hate thing  for mace it keeps you on your toes. And the surprise twist totally made me cry totally would re read it again

Still don't like the guys

There was just too much happening in this book. I couldn't keep track of the plot. Everyone is plotting something and they're all fighting with each other. I'm confused about all the mind control going on. Also, I still don't like any of the guys and Dani is definitely TSTL.

She just could not believe she was a princess, with a twin brother and the alphas who swore allegiance to her. Now life is going to be interesting. Her father has treason in his mind. What is going to happen? Who will come out on top? See what will happen

Great story. The itching is very good, and I didn't feel like the story was. dragging. I will say some parts of the plot are a bit predictable, but there were others that were a complete surprise as well. I can't wait until the author releases the next book in the series

Enjoyed the plot/pacing, although the heroine had some annoyingly TSTL moments. Will be interesting to see where things go from here.
