The Janus Corp security team have maneuvered their way aboard a great spaceship, bound for a paradise planet in another galaxy. But the battle is not over.
They must seize the ship before the voyage can begin. Their special skills are needed again and again as the journey continues.
Zag struggles with his affection for both Angel and Katya, whose behavior becomes more erratic until Angel's life and the fate of the entire ship rest in her hands.
And when they arrive in that distant galaxy they face yet more conflict...
Andy McKell nicely balances character interaction with exciting plot. Earth is degrading and ten powerful people plan to survive by building ships that will take them to an Earthlike planet, they name New Eden, to start over.
The ships are built, but one ship, the Challenger, stays behind, promising to catch up. But desperate people do desperate things and a secret takeover of the ship is attempted by those trying to flee a toxic Earth.
More obstacles and conflict confound the ship so when it finally enters the Paridisi System, it is one hundred fifty years later than originally expected, and the welcoming committee is alarming.
Within this story are intertwining personalities with complicated backstories, each with a different agenda.
A riveting follow up to Faces of Janus. Again it follows the same timeline as another Paradisi novel from an alternative point of view. There are overlaps but it still feels very different and exciting. It keeps you wanting more.
A wild ride is in store for readers of this book. A race against time starts us off and a twist of time leaves us wanting to dive into the next book. Never a dull moment and lots to discover as the story unfolds. Enjoy!
