So crazy in love with this world. The HEA couple was super amazing. Loved their relationship. Loved new characters. Loved revisiting my beloved characters from previous books. And the Time Heal Procedure worked like a dream! A futuristic dream! All right! Let me start over again, coherently this time.

Loved the Celta World so much. I was so crazy in love with Klay/Johns and Giniana. They were a kind of people I respected and admired. Loved how proud Giniana was in herself and in her ability not to repeat her parents' mistakes that still haunted and hurt her. I loved the way she asked for forgiveness from Klay after she almost drove him away by her pride. I loved that she created a "love gift" for him as an apology as well as a declaration of her love. Her gift was definitely a "the HeartMate Gift!" Here's my favorite scene ⬇️

"I didn't think that you'd be so easy to
convince that I loved you."
"Oh, yeah, with you I am the easiest guy
you'll ever know."
"Lie, . . . you are moody and complex. . . .I love you and I thought I'd have to prove it, so I made this gift."

He weighed the pouch in his hand, . . . and slowly opened the gift.As he drew out the crystal, a beam of sunlight shafted through the window and accented the silver lettering. I love you.

I loved Klay's the most when he realized there was no future for him with Giniana when she only saw their relationship as a replay of her parents' story. His lettting her go, ending the relationship, and ready to move on with his life had awakened Giniana up to reality! Their HeartBonded scene was definitely another favorite! Dying to read a new book in the series.

Script of the Heart by Robin D. Owens is the 15th book in her wonderful Celta Heart Mates series. The Celta series takes place in a futuristic world, filled with magic, animal familiars, telepathy and romance.

We meet our heroine Giniana Felix at the start, as she is desperate to come up with funds to save her Fam cat, who is very old, and possibly dying. There is a possible last chance treatment that cost a fortune, and Giniana is working overtime for other houses as a healer for those residences. Giniana has no time for herself, and when she meets an actor, she brushes him off, since she has no love for actors, because of her childhood family memories.

Klay St. Johnswort (Johns), our hero, is one of the best actors, and now with his show closing, he is desperate to find a new gig. When he hears about a missing script by a well-known author, Johns is determined to find the script, which will help him win the lead of the new show.

He meets Giniana and is immediately attracted to her, even though she dislikes actors. In a short time, Johns and Giniana will act on their feelings, and a romance begins. Johns begins to worry about Giniana working herself to the bone, and not eating or getting enough sleep. As his feelings grow, he does what he can to help Giniana with her struggles, and to prove to her he is worthy of her love…actors are not all bad.

Johns is at first afraid of her fam cat, but things change when he rescues a kitten. Giniana will accept the kitten, and her older cat decides the kitten is his fam. This was a cute and fun part of the story, as the kitten was adorable, and the older cat adopted the kitten. I have always loved the fams in all the stories. Listening to them speak telepathically is always enjoyable and so much fun. In Script of the Heart, it was great to have two Fams. I really liked Johns and Giniana, and rooted hard for them to stay together.

What follows is an exciting, sweet romantic tale, with a bit of a mystery finding the script, as well as the suspense if Giniana will find a way to pay for the treatment, and if it will save her Fam.

Once again, Robin D. Owens gives us another wonderful addition to this series, with two unlikely people, who will find true love. If you enjoy romances in a fun fantasy magic world, you should be reading this series. I am a big fan of this series, and always love visiting Celta and the Fams.

Rather disjointed, though I do enjoy reading about the Fams and seeing previous characters. There were a lot of weird details (like why should D'Willow's assistant be allowed to dictate that she can't take payments?), convenient events (an injured horse and rider just appear, are healed, then gone), and then it wrapped up fairly abruptly, with no lead up to the fact that the Cherrys are opening a theatre and Geniana is leaving the Spindles after they were so kind to her. And then you've got the issue of Johns disliking Fams...and moving to a rural location even though he was determined to stay in Druida City. There were so many unnecessary bits about her father and child support, her lifetime membership to the club, that spiteful Daisy woman, the whiny actress, the incompetent and completely shady agent that turns into a Fam toymaker, Amberose...

Honestly, as much as I love the Fams, I think Owens is spending too much time on them and neglecting the meat of the story. And considering all the unexpected bonus work (rider, agent, etc), why was money so short? Couldn’t she borrow even a little? Set aside her pride for her cat (who honestly seemed like a jerk) to get this treatment earlier? Why risk her life by being so stubborn?

I love coming back to Celta every time! Seeing my friends again! Familiar places and people. Robin D.Owens makes you feel like you can step right into inside her world. Felt like her characters have depth and felt so real. I want to visit Celta! I want a Fam! On to my review-John’s, Klay came across as a very real character-honest emotion yet he’s an actor so he’s also observing for his craft. Giniana struggles with her feelings about actors because of her childhood and she’s dealing with so much trying to raise gilt for an experimental time health procedure for her Fam on top of falling in Love? While also helping Klay figure out what happened to script. Loved the the interaction between the couple and the Fams. Loved seeing the other people from previous stories appear throughout the story to move this story along. Another enjoyable Celta read!! Can’t wait for another!!

To say I was excited about having another book to read in the wonderful “Heart” series by the talented Robin Owens is a huge understatement. I’ve always enjoyed entering into the world of Celta that is filled with magic, fam animals and well written love stories. Script of the Heart did not disappoint. Our heroine, Giniana, is a hard-working, dedicated healer who makes tremendous sacrifices for her beloved fam companion; her counterpart, a talented actor we met in Heart Journey, is genuine and easy to like. Giniana has a problem with actors for personal reasons and Johns is ever determined to get to know her. The underlying mystery and challenges our characters face make for a great story. Well done, Ms. Owens and thank you for continuing this fascinating series!

This one was a bit different from others in the series. These two weren't heartmates, but two people attracted to each other who have issues. Both Giniana and Klay end up working through their issues with the help of each other and others that are more then willing to help them, even as they were too proud to ask for the help themselves.

I loved what Klay learned about his house and how things changed for him and Giniana.

A wonderful story

I love visiting Celia and always feel like I’m there when I read one of Robin’s books. This one really captures the “heart” strings. It’s gun going back to the periphery of a previous story and seeing a whole new side of it. Thank you ,Robin, for the wonderful story.

Amazing Script!

First, I am a confirmed Celta / Robin D. Owens fan. For me, this book has come in as one of the top books in the series. The evolving relationship, the growth of the characters and the smooth linking of the story with the concurrent Heart Journey book (without spoilers) made it an enthralling and uplifting read. Just as Johns kept his focus on the positive, this book encourages and supports a positive view on love, faith in others, and the communication and compromise it takes to keep a relationship strong and growing. A great read - with TWO Fam cats! Thanks, Robin.

Another chapter in the story of Celta. This one backtracks a bit of time and takes place in between a couple of previous books. All in all a good read for me. I didn't like the female MC as much as others in the past since she was a bit annoying. My biggest complaint is the way it wrapped up. The MCs ending was fine but the abrupt way the other storylines ended was a disappointing. It was like she hit her wordcount and decided ok that's it. The wrap up of the where the children that he volunteers with was rushed and not fleshed out at all.

Sometimes, even though, as the saying goes, it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it isn’t actually a duck. The Celta’s Heartmates series is one of those “not a duck” situations, along with Pern, Darkover, Harmony and Markswoman by Rati Mehrotra.

These are all series that read like fantasy and/or fantasy romance, but if you look under the hood – or back in the history of how these places came to be – there’s a space ship lurking in the shadows. Or in the case of Markswoman an apocalypse. And if you’re looking for a book to cross over from one of these genres to the other, something from one of these series might just be your jam.

What I mean is that all of these series feel like fantasy. Their worlds are either lower tech than ours is currently, and/or what tech they have is based on something other than electricity – usually psi power of some kind. The mileage, parsecs and/or warp speed varies.

But these are worlds that have a scientific origin and reverted to a lower level of technology either out of necessity or conscious planning. Usually within the course of the series those origins, if not widely known, are re-discovered.

Celta, in specific, is a lost colony of our very own Earth, in a far-flung future. It was settled by the survivors of three ships from Earth, filled with refugees who left because they were persecuted for their psi-power, called Flair in this series. By the time that Script of the Heart takes place, Celta has been established for centuries. Life on Celta is not perfect (no place is perfect) but it is good for most people most of the time.

Celta also seems like a reasonable place to live. This society seems to actually work and not merely lurch from crisis to crisis. The world creation in this series is top-notch every step of the way.

This story, in spite of its designation as #9a in the series, is a full-length novel. But it takes place chronologically during the events of Heart Journey. You don’t need to have read that to enjoy this, but you do probably need to have some other exposure to Celta before diving into Script of the Heart. Starting with either Heart Mate (the first published book in the series) or the story Heart and Sword (included in the Hearts and Swords collection) the first story in the internal world chronology, should be enough to get you hooked.

The course of true love never does run smooth, and that is certainly true in Script of the Heart – along with a rather large helping of “pride goeth before a fall”. Klay St. Johnsworth is a respected actor at the height of his career. He is also the last of his respected but not in the least wealthy line.

Giniana Filix is a respected healer who was abandoned by her family of actors. This has not left her with a very high opinion of the profession, and in some ways rightly so. She’s done her best to make her own way, but at the moment it isn’t quite enough.

Her FamCat, Thrisca, is the “oldest of the old” of the telepathic, highly intelligent FamAnimals that live on Celta. Thrisca is dying. Giniana will do anything to earn enough money to allow Thrisca to participate in an expensive and experimental procedure that might just save her life – if Giniana doesn’t work herself into illness along the way.

Giniana doesn’t have time for romance, or even friendly relationships. She’s working every hour of the day and night to earn the money for Thrisca’s treatment. But that’s when she meets Klay, and can’t make herself resist the actor – no matter how much she distrusts his profession.

It’s mostly Giniana’s pride that gets in the way, as well as her lingering resentments of her family situation. It’s not just that her parents were actors, but that they were profligate with their money, sparing with their affection, and never seemed to put anything before their own careers and especially their own selves. Not even each other and certainly not their daughter.

That her mother spent her life looking for a man to sponge off of has left Giniana with a fear of taking help, at least help in the form of money, from anyone. Even someone she is coming to love.

But Klay has his own pride. He wants to help Giniana. But he needs for her to accept him as he is, because his career is every bit as much a part of him as hers is of her. It’s up to Klay with a little bit of help from her FamCat (and her FamCat’s FamCat) to get Giniana to finally see that sometimes we all need a little help from our friends.

Escape Rating A-: Script of the Heart is simply a lovely romance between two interesting people in a fascinating place.

It’s not just that Klay and Giniana are great people to follow into a romance, but also that their story shows a side of Celta that we don’t see all that often. While many of the stories involve couples who operate at the highest echelons of this society, Klay and Giniana are both in the lower-middle class. They both have to work for a living, and they have to live off what they make. They also have to worry about scrimping and saving and not always having quite enough to meet their everyday needs, even with careful planning.

We’ve seen a few people at the very low end of this society get vaulted into the upper class, but it’s been a while since we’ve followed people in this situation, if ever. It’s impossible not to feel for Giniana and her desperate need to keep her oldest and best friend, her FamCat Thrisca, alive and well if at all possible. Those of us who have companion animals know that feeling of watching a beloved friend slip away and being unable to stop it.

The FamKitten Melis offers the comic relief in this story, as Klay brings her to Giniana in the hopes that Melis may be able to ease her grief if the worst happens to Thrisca. That the old FamCat herself adopts the kitten gives Thrisca a bit of a new lease on life. But the FamCats in general are simply a joy to read. (We have a little kitten of our own right now, and Melis is VERY kitten!)

So a lovely romance, with happy endings all around. Especially for the FamCats!

3.5 rounded down because I got tired of how long it took the heroine to get her shit together. I also was somewhat frustrated that it is once again a person’s relationships with FirstFamily folks that dictate success...

This one is different from the others in the series. The hero and heroine are not members of a first family. They worked through their issues and became stronger as they integrated into a couple. I got exasperated with the heroine, but overall enjoyed this story.

Robin D. Owens has joined the ranks of formerly traditionally published authors who have now self-published, aka independently published, a book in a long-running series. I'm very glad to have been able to read Script of the Heart, the latest in the Celta HeartMates series.

Sometimes publishers go under or merge or whatever and sometimes editors leave. I do not know why Ms. Owens decided to self-pub the latest book but I am very glad that I had already subscribed to her e-newsletter so that I found out about the new book!

The appeal of series books is that these are books where the next book is the same, only different.

The Celta HeartMates series is a romance series. A different man and woman meet in each book, various issues come up in their romance, and it all works out by the end of the book. I especially enjoy the fact that previously matched couples appear in this series. In fact, the new book takes place simultaneously with another Celta HeartMates book, Heart Journey!

Also, not all married couples on Celta are HeartMates. HeartMates have an especially close bond where when one dies, the other partner dies within the year of the first. Celtans believe in reincarnation and recognize that in some lives, there will not be a HeartMate match for them. So, I enjoyed that in this new book, it is not immediately clear whether the new couple will turn out to be HeartMates or not.

Highly recommended for adult fans of series urban fantasy!

2019 bk 281. The most recent of the Celta books - but not in order sequentially. It is the companion for book 9 and returns us to the world of Celta's theatre and actors. A well defined story and perhaps among the best edited. Kudos for writing a science fiction romance that has just enough and not too much to it, more of a focus on relationships rather than the physical aspects. My one disappointment - with only a few references to tarot, some mind speech, of course a lot of talking familiars (cats), there wasn't a lot of what makes Celta a unique planet in it. If you took out the glider, the talking cats, the healer flair, the episodes with the heartstones and the gardner's flair, the story could have been set on earth. Celta is a dangerous planet to humans, a planet populated by humans with lots of psi powers, etc. It just didn't seem as edgy as the other and mostly earlier novels in the series. Even its companion (#9) showed us more of the planet.
But overall, not bad, actually very, very good. I will read it again - after I have visited #9 again. Hmm I wonder how it would go to read a chapter from 9, then from 9.1 and alternate through the 2 books. Might have to give that a try.

This is slightly different from the other Celta HeartMates books. The first difference is the title. This is the only one that does not have Heart in the title. While it is #15 in the series it takes place around book 8. Other than that its has all the other wonderful things. I loved the two FAMcats. The kitten was precious and the elder has just the right amount of snark. The two main characters come from a diverse background. One is a healer and one is a actor. That is the main conflict between the two. While there is a lot of attraction there is also quite a bit of distrust on the part of one. Love, not HeartMates is the theme. This was interesting and it kept my attention as the two worked toward a HEA.

Who wrote this book?! I remember reading the first book in the series and loving the world building and characters but this was very disjointed. It seems like the last few books of the series have gotten more mediocre to the point that this one seems like a story someone who has never written before would have wrote in their spare time. It almost reads like notes for the actual writing of the book rather than the book itself. The sentence structure is mostly basic noun then verb short sentences and the author drops pronouns from a lot of the dialogue. I have never written a review but this book was not up to the author’s previous quality. Very rarely do I DNF but this one I couldn’t finish.

This addition to the Celta series, was written out of order, and takes place at approximately the same time as Heart Journey. It’s a far more sedate story than many of the other Celta books, no big bad antagonist, no evil entity hiding in the wings. That doesn’t prevent the book from being truly enjoyable though.
Giniana Felix is the daughter of actors, who were extremely untrustworthy people. Klay StJohnswort is a FirstLevel actor, trying to convince Giniana that he is worthy of her time.
With an elderly, and dying FamCat, a missing script, and all sorts of interesting side characters, this gentle paced story is a nice, relaxing addition to the Celta world.

This was an interesting love story. Giniana, the heroine, had been abandoned by her actor father when she was a child and her mother gave her only necessary care. So Giniana distrusted actors and had strong fears of abandonment which led her to extreme independence. Imagine the difficulties our actor hero Klay Johns must overcome to win her heart. He has been single minded in his pursuit of an acting career, but somehow Giniana grabs hold of his heart. A big problem to overcome is the terminal health of Trisca, Famcat to Giniana.

I love Robin Owens' Celta books, and this is a good installment. However, there are a few loose threads in the book that were not fully wrapped up, and I did wish it were a little longer, hence the four star rating. I like having a little more suspense in my paranormal romances, too. While there were suspenseful moments in this book, it lacked the oomph of some of the earlier books in the series, in my opinion. Still, there were famcats, an element I have always loved.

Warm and sweet.

I own all the Celta books and have read every one of them. I absolutely love the world the author has created. This new book has a story that will suck you in. I just read the whole thing in one sitting. I enjoyed the depth of the main characters and couldn't wait to see how they resolved the emotional turmoil between them. Read the book you will love it.

Note that this story is out of chronological order and ties in with Heart Journey (which I think is book #9). I enjoyed it very much but wondered why she went back to this. That said, this included a surprise in a house that was beginning to be sentient and the question of Heartmates versus non-bonded mates. It provided a different view of the Celta world.
