All That Glitters

Rate this book
Debut SOLO book from one-half of the Vivienne Savage team!

Not all that glitters is gold.

When Rosalia is hired to steal a mysterious artifact from the city’s sexiest clockwork mechanic, she barely escapes with her life. What kind of inventor keeps a fire-breathing dragon in his basement, and why does it have eerily familiar green eyes?

Xavier Bane is the last weredragon of the west. He spends his days creating clockwork masterpieces in his shop and his nights slumbering beneath it in his secret hoard. Then comes a girl with the power to provide everything he needs, with a soul brighter than gold.

Saving Rosalia is key to the survival of his race... if he can reach her before the forces seeking the artifact.

A kickass action packed romantic fantasy that I couldn't put down.

Rosalia is hired to steal a mysterious artifact, which she successfully manages, but with deadly consequences. Xavier is a weredragon who works as a clockwork magician by day and protects his hoard in dragon form at night. When their paths cross, events occur that result in Rosalia fighting for survival. Only Xavier can help her, but he has his secrets too, waiting to unravel over time.

The story began with a heist and an act of kindness from Rosalia and I was instantly in love with her. Such a well written character! I liked her interactions with the supporting characters. She made mistakes, but also owned up to them and took charge in making it right, rather than indulging in self-pity.
Xavier is a sweetheart! He is mysterious and sexy with his share of secrets and I enjoyed his intensity when it came to Rosalia. And he is a weredragon, which is an added bonus.
The romance is slow burn which ends in a steamy scene, so... Yay!
The whole book had a lot of action and it's fast paced, so there's no chance of getting bored.
The book had sufficient information spread throughout, so I didn't get a feeling of info dump, while also understanding how the world worked.
This book brought out emotions like heartbreak, anger, love, and I can't wait to have more of it.
Awesome ending! I'm eager to see how the story progresses.

Good story

I liked the storyline and the chacterization was great. What I didn't care for was the unnecessary use of profanity.
Sh*t and the F-bomb was used too often and really wasn't needed. What could have worked well was an Elven cuss word.
Another thing that bothered me were several grammatical errors. They were distracting.
Finally, the ending was so abrupt and for nothing other than to sell the sequel.
All in all, no thank you.

The first part of Rosalia's adventure

This book is filled with elves, mages, theives, a dragon, magical clockwork pieces and so much more wonderful and fantasical things.
Rosalía is part of the "Theives Guild" in Enimura. The leader took her in when she was a child and became a father figure to her. He took a job that offered a considerable amount of pay. The job was to steal a mirror. Rosalie took the job.
While in the scoping out stage of the theft she meet Xavier. He does mechanical work and clockwork inventions. She finds more than she bargained for when she went to steal the object.
The mystical mirror isn't all that it was thought to be. Many bad things happened.
This book is only the first in a series that follows Rosalía. I am looking forward to finding finding out what happens next.

Ugh, love me a man who shamelessly reads romance novels in public.

"Many of the greatest novels of the era are so- called ‘love stories’ combining romantic elements and suspense with adventure. If a man is threatened by a little affection between characters, perhaps the greater question he should ask himself is why it makes him uncomfortable to read about two people in love.”

This book was cute, loved Rosalia/Xavier. However, I was kinda weirded out by the fact that Xavier had had a thing for Rosalia's mom. He realized Rosalia was Dahlia's daughter because of her heritage and resemblance. Xavier in reference to Rosalia's mom: "God's above, he'd wanted her, but her heart had belonged to another man already."

Makes me think of the Twilight Jacob imprinting on Bella's daughter thing - where he only wanted Bella because she carried an egg that would become his mate.

A Fantastic High Fantasy Adventure Romance!

I've been a Vivian Savage fan for a while now and am absolutely thrilled to report that Mrs. Taylor's foray into solitary writing is a fantastic success! The story is well thought out and the characters wonderfully fleshed. The story is a bit dark and gritty as well as pure fantasy. As with the duo's redone fairytales, this is not the expected and that's what makes their work so gloriously appealing. I am on the edge of my seat waiting for the next chapter in Xavier and Rosalia's little adventure. Keep up the great work!

A great beginning

All That Glitters is the first book in the Daughter of Fortune series. Although it's the first book like any season premiere the story grabs you and won't let go.
It has fantastic wild building and characters development that has you knowing it could only get better from here.
This is Domino Taylor first solo venture from her partnership as the Vivienne Savage team. A+

What a hell of a first book by Domino Taylor!! I’m a huge Vivienne Savage fan and to me this just means many more books to love! I enjoyed the development of the relationship between the characters all the way around. The story telling comes off so smoothly that I can picture it as a movie playing in my head. I can’t wait to read more from D. T and V. S!

All that glitters

A dazzling daring journey! I enjoyed the first book in the series introducing this fantasy world with elves, dragons, and other magical creatures. I can’t wait to undercover more about what’s going to happen next.
The story did start off slow for me and took a little bit to get into so I look forward to learning more about the characters as well.

**Read on Kindle Unlimited**
Elves, Dragons, mages, thieves and magical clockwork parts all wrapped up in a magical world. The world building and characters are out of this world. I could not put down this book once I started reading it. Rosalia has the snarkiness as well being cunning and smart to keep herself alive while working for the thieves guild.

Rosalia and Xavier's story is so unique and different!! I loved the different magical creatures in the story! Rosalia is a great MC and her relationship with Xavier was explosive. The story itself started slow, however it really took off about 30%. The characters are well developed and the plot was superbly put together! I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. I can't wait to read more!

I gave it up once but tried again and finished the book with a heavy dose of skimming. A woman thief attracts a dragon shifter man. She steals something dangerous, and he has to find her, save her, and convince her to get it back.
Typos: vice (sin) used for vise (clamp), missing word ("She an item of great importance").

Interesting from the beginning

This captured me pretty quickly, doing good character and world building while also jumping right into the plot. I felt like there were some rushed parts, or expected more emotion after the purge. But overal I love these characters and bought the second book before I even finsihed this one. Look forward to seeing where this story takes us.

A good read

An interesting storyline, strong heroine and attractive male. What more can you ask for?
Rosalia has yet to discover her powers fully and there’s an ancient magical object to reclaim, so you know there’s going to be a good story in the next book. I look forward to reading it soon.

Weredragons are my favorite once i discovered paranormal romance because they are hard to come by in novels!
And this book is a beautiful blend of elements that readers of Sarah J Maas, Cassandra Clare and Sherrilyn Kenyon (basically someone like me) would enjoy immensely :)

Not too spicy but slow burn and amazing!

I loved this book! I thought it was awesome! I loved the way Rosalia was a thief and a dancer. It showed two sides to her. Xavier is awesome as well. I love dragons shifters. I think this book is a great read! Definitely recommend if you like dragon shifters and magic.

Gripping

This is listed as a debut book and that is surprising to me. Great story line, gripping characters and lots of action. The budding romance between the thief and her mark is sweet. Great surprises along the way and lots of devastating emotions. Can’t wait to see more.
