Through these games he meets many people from around the world, but only for the few fleeting moments of shared game play. When Robert receives an invite to a room that contains players that live in the San Diego area, that all changes. The group grows close, inside and outside the virtual world.

Robert doesn't understand though, the stronger your trust grows the more vulnerable you are.

Robert and his friends find themselves deceived by one of their own. They are kidnapped and forced to compete for their very lives on a Dark Web game show against another team and then each other. Who has the skills to survive and be crowned Game Master.

There is a dark and deadly world hidden behind firewalls, ghosted routers, and mirrored IP addresses. A world where the worst of humanity gather for business and pleasure. Like most of us, Robert Deliuz was unaware this world existed, at least until one of his closest friends betrayed him and pulled him into the underground as a pawn, in a deadly game of survival. Robert is pitted against his own friends in a series of life or death challenges while a wagering audience watches behind the anonymity of ones and zeroes. Lose a challenge, and you die a horrible death to the cheers and pleasure of the viewers. Win them all, and you are changed forever.
Can Robert out play, outsmart, and outlast his friends to survive and be crowned Game Master?

This was a great read with a great story line.
The author just has a way with words in his writing that just grips you from the start and doesn't let you go.
Great characters that have been well written.
Wonderful world building in this one.
I can't wait to read the next one and continue the journey.

I'm a gamer, so I loved how this book started. A group of online gaming friends meet in real life. Then the terror begins when they find themselves playing a real life game for their lives. It was interesting to say the least. I don't wanna give anything away, but I didn't like the ending. I liked it better when things were what they appeared to be. The story is solid, but I was thrown off by a few things. I think too hard about these stories. I hope this isn't a spoiler, but if Amy had watched and thought it was real, why did she want her boyfriend to participate? If I saw this, I wouldn't want anyone except my worse enemy to partake. Just saying. Like how did she know since they spent so much money making it look real? Maybe I missed something. Anyways, the story was good enough to overlook that and a couple of writing issues.

It is not what you think

When I started reading this book I thought how great it would be to play the game. Then after getting into the book I got to where I hated Christopher and thought he was a bad gamer and hateful. The ending took a turn you will have to read it to see who Christopher really is. Good author.

Not what I expected

Short and a bit surprising. Not sure where it will go from here. I'm willing to read the next one.
