New friends, new lands, and all-new Poké Return to one of the greatest adventures!
Most kids spend their days at school, but not Hareta. Raised in the wild by Pokémon, he can climb as high as an Aipom, swim as fast as a Magikarp, and even eat bark like a Bidoof!
Will Team Galactic's nefarious plans to capture Dialga succeed? Not if Hareta has anything to say about it!
Cyrus, the brilliant and ruthless leader of Team Galactic, has set in motion his grand scheme to capture Dialga--a scheme with dire consequences for the land of Sinnoh. Hareta and his friends, together with several of Sinnoh's Gym Leaders, go all-out to put a stop to Cyrus and his minions. Things start getting tough, but those battling Team Galactic gain a major new ally when Hareta befriends a mysterious and amazing Pokémon.
Pokemon: Diamond and Pearl Adventure!, Vol. 3 by Shigekatsu Ihara was another solid entry to the this collection of Sinnoh manga. Like the others before it, I find it shares the same issues of fast pacing where lots happens and it feels rushed together with lots of details skipped. I also noticed (with the bicycle scene), that I dislike how they awkwardly cram video game things into the book.
That doesn’t take away from the overall fun, funny, and adventurous this manga is. The artwork is absolutely stunning and that with the story telling really captures the essence of Pokemon. I loved the battles in this book, and I loved how they did not have too many. Sure, most of the book was battles again. But, they all felt important and pertinent to the story this time. I also love the part where the gym leaders come together and unite to fight against Team Galactic.
My favourite part though, is the Deoxys sub-entry. At the end of the manga they cut from the main storyline for a little Deoxys subplot. I thought it was so funny and entertaining as it was such a change of pace and vibe from the main, now dark storyline. It’s truly what brings it up in comparison to its predecessors.
Team Galactic have arrived at Lake Valor, and while Hareta and the gym leaders battle them, Azelf ends up in the wrong hands! Ihara raises the stakes in this enjoyable entry to the entertaining series that is sure to have fans cheering and gasping. What can Hareta do when one of the most powerful Pokemon in Sinnoh vanishes?!
I continue to prefer this series to Diamond and Pearl/Platinum. Both seem to share the same high-level plot, but the joy is in the details. I really like the art in this series.
Hmm, I don’t know what it is about this series but I just don’t like them too much. I love seeing the Pokémon of course, but I think it’s just a repeat of every other Pokémon storyline. Kid gets a Pokémon, kid meets Team Rocket (or w/e they’re called in this series) and kid has seriously OP Pokémon (really, Piplup being that strong? H o w). Also, there was absolutely no Totodile so I am definitely disappointed.
