Cliffhanger
I love every bit of this series. Given the trilogy subtitle, I expected "the Exception" to be the end of the story; I suspect (sincerely hope) that it's not.
Interestingly, toward the end of this book I recognized a couple of what seemed to be references. One is to the "Urantia Book, " a voluminous tome that describes a race of beings who watch over the Earth and monitor the activities of the human species. It's a fascinating, but thoroughly impenetrable book (at least for me). The other, "Jiro Loves Sushi," is to a biographical movie about a Michelin three-star sushi restaurant located in a Tokyo subway station. These references caught me by surprise and made me immediately want to go back through all three books in the series to find others. Kudos, Terry Schott! You've given me an entirely new level on which to enjoy your work.
One tiny little complaint: there were several typos which, as a writer myself, snagged my eyes. Certainly they didn't impact my enjoyment of the story or my rating, but still...
