All Andino wants is a life with Haven. However, his life, his duty, and his family expect certain things from him - things that exclude the possibility of forever with her. If you know anything about Andino, you'll know that he is the only dictator in his life that matters. What he wants, he gets... by any means necessary. Nothing was going to stop him and neither the boss nor a possible war would stand in his way.

I loved how masterful and manipulative Andino was. He knew what he wanted, he knew how to achieve his goals, and he set his plans in motion. For the most part, we the reader and most of the characters had no clue what he was up to and it was like unfolding a little bit of mystery along the way. The forbidden element of his relationship with Haven, and the time constraints he faced in proving himself to her, made this story one hot as heck read. Despite the pain and anguish they both faced, I held onto the knowledge that they would get their happy ending.

Andino would do this all over again. He'd lie, and hurt, and ruin everything for everyone if it meant this moment right here was the same.

If you're anything like me, you've tried to get your hands on as many stories by Bethany-Kris as possible. If so, you'll know exactly what happens with Andino and Haven. And yet, this story has continued to surprise me at every turn. Sometimes it's not the end of the journey that counts, but the road taken to get there.

"I would burn this city down if that's what it would take to have you."

Vow is the second book in the Andino + Haven Duet. After an intense and passionate love affair that ended in a heartbreaking separation, Andino is gearing up for the fight of his life. Andino must maintain his honorable status in "the family" by leading his men AND find a way to win back the love of his life. Although Haven does not meet the typical "criteria" for a mob boss' wife, she is the only one Andino wants to spend the rest of his life with. But when everyone is trying to keep them apart, will Haven and Andino be able to find their happy ever after?

description
"Even when you're not here, you're all around me."
Told in multiple POV, Vow is a perfect blend of mob action, suspense, passion, and tender romance. Andino and Haven are both complex characters who exude strength and power with every breath that they take. The passion they share is explosive. In addition to the dynamic main characters, the supporting characters enhance the story greatly. The tempo of the read is intense as Andino and Haven are continuously coming together and being forced apart. I was on the edge of my seat through each and every moment of this read!!!

"You are in my dreams. My fucking blood. There's no getting you out now."
Overall, I highly recommend Vow to anyone who enjoys a dynamic mafia romance with an abundance of passion and intense mobster action. I adore both Haven and Andino and I simply could not get enough! Bethany-Kris is an excellent storyteller and I thoroughly enjoy her writing!

Re-read July 2019 - I didn't think this could get any better the second time around and I was wrong. It. was. magnificent. I'll probably read it again sometime, I loved the duet that much.

Original review
Take one hella hot, manipulative Capo/Boss in waiting, add in a strong, feisty take no prisoners heroine, twists and turns aplenty, a hint of the foribdden, so many oh hell no, he did NOTs and picking up after a doozy of a cliffhanger with Duty and you have another Bethany-Kris masterpiece.

Watching and getting to know Andino through the other books in this series I was nowhere near prepared for him, I kid you not. This bloke is the Master Manipulator, working and plotting to get to the end HE wanted regardless of who he took down in the process, even Haven. He really was a bellend at times, hurting her so many times. But get to his happy (and thereby Haven's) he did and it. was. brilliant.

This author is a genius in this genre, my most favourite mafia author ever.

This review covers both Duty and Vow in this duet, as the whole story is just phenomenal. A word of warning, if you’ve not read the other books in the series firstly … Why?? And secondly, go read them before starting this or you will be rather lost.

2 stars for turning a perceived strong heroine into a pathetic mess.

This book had two elements to it:
1. Time where the hero and heroine were apart
2. Sex scenes

This relationship turned extremely abusive. In a nutshell, the hero puts the h "on ice" and doesnt commit to being with her until the very end of the book. He would enter and exit her life with weeks or months in between. And in between that time, the h would act like a kicked puppy and claim that she hated the H but when he would come back around she would get on her knees and give him a blowjob in the first 5 minutes. The H's attitude to the whole situation was really concerning. He would ridicule the heroine for feeling betrayed and he was always chuckling at her distress. Fuck that. On top of that, there were zero tender moments in the story. Every scene was either with a crying heroine or the MC's having sex. Nothing about their story made me believe they would get a HEA.

And after allllll the shitty and terrible things the H did the h, like:
-Abandoning her for months at a time
-Uses her for sex
-Tells her she's not good enough for his mafia family
-stopping her from leaving the state to live with her mother who has cancer
-Attempts to buy her business without her knowing.
-GETS ENGAGED TO ANOTHER WOMAN

.... we get ZERO GOVEL.

NONE.

ZILCH.

One more thing that annoyed me was the previous generation of heroines that are parents to the current hero/heroine spinoffs. They turned into really boring and supremely ignorant and oblivious house wives. I read Lucian, Gio and Dante's books and I was really disappointed that these once strong heroines of this series became into everything-is-always-happy do-gooder housewarmers.

Fuck this. Nobody would be with this piece of shit. The heroine needed to stomp on his nuts.

A vow is a promise or oath...... and Andino Marcello has taken a vow of duty, respect and honor for the Marcello Family. He has been tapped to become the next Boss but at what cost does his vow to the Family cost him. The conclusion to Andino and Haven’s love story isn’t for the faint of heart. There is angst, manipulation, heartbreak, hope and eventually love. Bethany Kris and her talented and spirited words create magic and mayhem in Vow that had me addicted to my kindle.

This story has much depth and passion. Andino Marcello is ruthless and has no fear in doing exactly as he wishes. He knows exactly what he wants and how to get it. He’s manipulative, he’s cunning, he’s ruthless yet he’s a man of honor and duty. He loves his family and will do what He thinks and knows is best in their regard. Even if his Uncle Dante, the exiting Boss, doesn’t care for his tactics. As with all things Marcello, the family is ever present in this story and makes it all the better. I can never have too much of the entire Marcello Family.

Then there is Haven Murphy who can’t stop her heart from wanting Him. While she knows she needs to move on with her life and leave NY, Andino haunts her mind and heart. She’s not the woman for him, she’s been told by him and the family but there’s something about their love that keeps them colliding. And that something is Andino.......he just can’t tell Haven everything just yet.

I loved this entire love story. I loved their passion and in the end their commitment to one another. It’s a rocky rollercoaster rider but Haven and Andino are a match made in Heaven. I do hope that we get more of them in the future. They are young and have a lot of living to do that I can’t help but be selfish and want more of.

GAHHH!!! This book was SO unbelievably amazing. I seriously didn't think that I could love anything more than Duty but Vow just dropped the mic on that argument. This story was written with such brilliant emotion in every word. I absolutely love Haven and Andino from the bottom of my heart. It was so hard to finish their story as I never wanted it to end!

From the very beginning of this book Kris took my emotions in hand and had me at her mercy with every word. I felt tears clogged in my throat because I felt both their pain and hurt being separated from one another. It was just so perfectly written where my eyes would water at one point and then I would chuckle a few passages down. I absolutely loved Andino and Haven's love and dedication for one another. I loved that she was his endgame and he just needed to bide his time to make it happen.

It was also a magical thing to see all of the OG Marcello boys again and see how Andino, as the second generation and next boss, would balance his duty to his family with his own happiness. I was left spellbound by this story and the genuine love between Andino and Haven and seriously can't wait for more! Bravo!! 5 stars! ~Ratula

This book was just full of all the things that I love. What I absolutely loved the most though... Andino's mind. The plotting, the manipulating, the staying 5 steps ahead that his mind was made of. He wanted what he wanted and no one and nothing were going to stand in his way. He was not going to be what everyone expected him to, and if they wanted him to wear the crown, he would wear it his way, on his terms.
Haven was in so much pain, but still so strong and determined. She loved Andino like no other, even when she felt she shouldn't, even when it hurt her to love him. I just wanted to scream to her throughout the book 'Just hold on a little while longer.'
Their romance was hot, at times angry, and all around swoon worthy. I was rooting for them every stop of the way.
The action, Andino's plan being revealed piece by piece, seeing the Marcello's deal with another family all just made me unable to put this book down.
The ending and epilogue were just what I needed and wanted. Another amazing book.

I have read a lot of Bethany-Kris's series and have enjoy all of them. I have read about the Marcellos, Donati and DeLuca families. Then we move onto the children of Lucien, Dante and Gio. John and Sienna, Catherine and Cross and this one, Andino and Haven. We meet both of these characters in the previous books and to be honest I thought Andino a bit of an ass. He wants Haven but he seems to just keep hurting her over and over. In this book we find out why he is the way he is. We see him maneuver and set things into motion to get what he wants...Haven. I think I like their story the best of all of them.

VOW by Bethany-Kris is book Two in the Andino & Haven series. This continues the story of Andino Marcello and Haven Murphy. You should read the previous book to fully enjoy their continuing story.
This book has so much emotions with it. Haven trying to deal with her feelings toward Andino. Andino cares for Haven but he keeps hurting her because he can't fight his feeling but he needs to keep away.
Overall really enjoyed this book.

5 'Legendary' STARS

When we stumble upon Andino in book two he is irritated and damn bitter for good reason. Andino denied his true feelings rejecting the only person that made him feel whole for the sake of his duty.

Walking away was the right thing to do for her, for his Haven, but the right thing isn't always easy. Staying away from Haven and ignoring the natural pull of their gravity isn't easy.

In the chaos and forced distance for the greater good Andino and Haven fall back on what makes sense when nothing else does—the undeniable passion they have for one another knowing damn well the gut-wrenching pain that will follow.

Even in great love, there is still a lingering ache of what may never be.

A man is dead. War is brewing between the Marcellos and the Calabrese family. Death has a way of reminding you of what matters, what you will fight for, and what you could lose.

Dante demands peace.
Andino is over the golden boy status quo.
He has other plans and it ain't got shit to do with peace.

Andino has never been one to cause a ruckus or put on a big production or show. He's a focused and patient planner, all about the small moving parts, damning the consequences for a big impact.

Marcello blood runs through his veins. He was created and chosen—they should've never expected less. Andino refuses to be a man born as a King only to die as a slave to duty.

Andino knows in his bones who he is, who the fuck he isn't, and what he's willing to throw away for Haven. Come hell or high water, Andino will create his own path and define himself as a man—a confidence, a fire that was ignited by the love of one woman.

Haven is strong willed and not the slightest bit afraid to ask tough questions of the Marcello men that many others tiptoe around. Haven puts Andino on the spot, constantly pushing him in the corner for truth that he cannot give—Not yet.

All the best plans laid-out plans take time.
Time Andino does not have.

Haven knows her worth, what she deserves, which makes loving Andino that much harder. With her life in boxes Haven is ready to walk out on her life in New York and move far away from Andino Marcello.

Haven's logical mind is screaming for her to run. Her heart is clawing back for that emotional high—because when they together nothing and everything makes complete sense, it's perfectly imperfect, never to be recreated, and it's the only fucking thing that matters.

Haven is in love with a man who is not all that he seems.
You can love the man and still hate him for what he does...
It's mind-bending and Haven hates the vulnerability of it all.

In the life, the organization, vulnerabilities are picked at and ultimately exploited. Andino understands this harsh reality. Andino has to make smart moves, nobody sees him coming, not even Haven.

Haven is Andino's weakness and yet she is his greatest strength and motivation. Andino may have one foot out the door of Haven's life, but his heart, his mind is always with Haven.

Andino loves her and yet he continues to take only giving Haven pieces of himself. It's all Andino has until he is free to be his own man. Haven has to decide whether or not it's enough to hang onto.

Andino will demand change in a big fucking way. If change means burning everything to the ground to do so, then so fucking be it. Damn the consequences.

Haven was always enough.
Not just the perfect choice, the only choice.
Andino will have to prove his love to Haven, to be worthy to stand by her side.

So Why 5 Stars?

I haven't purchased a physical book in years. I purchased Duty and I will purchase this one. Andino and Haven's love story is memorable. It is one of those character relationships that sets the bar, one that you look for in other books but you will never quite find another character relationship like them again...

The pace was a bit slower that the first book, dialogue was on point and engaging, the secondary characters all added to the story and I enjoy the familiar faces, the conflict was decent with just enough Mafia drama, and the plot was ultimately full circle and well thought out.

The undeniable passion, chemistry and soul-shaking intimacy, love, sex, and good old fashion push and pull is everything. This book is why I read romance books.

"Every inhale burned.
"Every exhale ached."

Bethany-Kris always brings perfection into her stories. Whether it is a mafia contemporary romance with the feels or a thrilling mafia with tons of action, she delivers every single time. I was holding my breath. Reading Duty, straight up killed me. Well, Vow wrapped every single moment with a brilliant and satisfying bow. Wow. Wow. Wow. Vow was absolutely ELECTRIFYING. The drama. The suspense. The action. The pent-up tension. Vow knocked it out of the park. A home run in mafia romance. A stunning storyline with amazing characters and sublime scenes meant to capture you. The first sentence, I was tantalized. The first paragraph, I was breathless. The first page, I was speechless. Written with so much passion and fire, Vow is definitely one of my favourite mafia book of 2018.

Vow is the anticipated conclusion to Andino and Haven’s story. I waited for this book after the cliff-hanger that broke my heart into pieces. Vow completed my soul. Vow mended all the broken pieces of my heart. The storyline gripped me. The characters transfixed me. The scenes so intense and pulsing with heat and thrills. I felt the emotions. I felt the fire. I felt the angst. I felt the mayhem. Deep in my heart. Deep in my soul. Vow is a fantastic story of love, hope, respect and family oaths. A story with manipulations and plotting. A story with an abundance of chaos and edge of your seat intense moments. A story that explores an exciting and explosive last chapter to an emotional and heart tingling love between Andino and Haven. Bethany-Kris always proves to me that she has a creative touch. Every mafia book just radiates magic and power till you feel. I feel her words. They speak to me. They hypnotize. They creep into my heart and make me fall in love with them. In that moment, Vow touched my heart.

Seriously Andino and Haven are one of my favourite couples after Cross and Catherine in all the Legacy books. In their thoughts and feelings, you could just feel the love, pain and sacrifice they went through together as a couple. Haven is a headstrong woman. A woman with a stubborn streak and a mind of her own. You feel her frustrations. You feel her hurt. You feel her flaws. Absolutely adored her development as a character and an equal to Andino. Andino has a powerful mind. First of all, he is a protector. Protects his family. Protects Haven with all his might. His mind absolutely made me giddy. His manipulations. His secrets. His mannerisms. An absolute delight. Andino has too many layers and it was so amazing to get to unwrap every layer.

Vow is definitely on my list of favourite Bethany-Kris books. I ended the duet with a huge smile on my face and satisfied look. I am ready for more Legacy books.

He is expected to be the Boss - the perfect leader of the Family. But nobody asks him what is his wish and what are his expectations.
He made his choice for the duty and family but he wants more. He wants to live his life. I’ve always loved Andino for his attitude. He sets the goals and he knows how to reach them. He needs Heaven and she will be his no matter what.
As with all Bethany’s books I loved this one greatly. The Marcellos were my absolute favorites. Her every book is a mafia masterpiece that makes you live for the heroes! Thank you for the chance to read this book I absolutely loved!!!

Vow - Bethany-Kris

⭐️

So, I love this author. But this is a it’s me not you kind of review.

I’m coming to realize very quickly, I like her older works much more. I like the family bonds, the Catholic Church, the old, old school feel of it.

This heroine was, well, just too modern for me, for this family. I knew right away in book one that I wasn’t connecting but I powered thru, because again, I love this authors older works. The original Marcellos, Chicago war, etc. so, like I said, its just me. I tend to like violent, lustful Mafia books with more tradition thrown in. Book 2 was a tough sell. Because, I felt the exact opposite. He was a a** & I had stopped caring...

I’m really disappointed in myself, but that’s the way it goes. I’ve got a few of her older series still in my library, so I think I’m going to polish those off. :-)

This whole series has fantastic reviews btw so don’t let me put you off just because I found one duet in it not to my liking. She’s got some real gems to read!

This duology centers around the same mafia conflict as John and Sienna's duology. However, most of the intense mafia stuff occurred around John, so Andino's side of the conflict was rather boring and completely unnecessary. This duology was only good for learning about Andino and Haven's relationship. It didn't provide any extra useful information about the mafia angle. Honestly I wish I'd never bothered with this duology. It paled in comparison to John and Sienna's books. Those were amazing.

Andino and Haven's story should have been one book not two. Too much of this felt like filler. In Duty the conflict between them was relatively minor in the grand scheme of things. In this the relationship drama was amped up a bit. Their thing seems to be having sex without really talking to each other about anything meaningful ever, so I didn't understand why they were obsessed with each other.

I went from feeling blase about their relationship to downright hating them as a couple. They went long periods of time without seeing or speaking to each other throughout the entire book. Haven turned into a pathetic mess. She never seemed to like that Andino was deeply involved in the mafia. On top of that, he treated her like crap. Haven found out her mom was dying of cancer. She wanted to sell her home and business to move closer to her parents and to help with their medical bills. What did Andino do? Being the selfish piece of shit gentleman that he is, he tried to buy her business through a shell company and dragged out the real estate process. He did all of this because he didn't want her to leave. He didn't give a fuck that she was missing out on time with her mother. That right there would have been the end for me. Behavior like that is unforgivable. He did a bunch of other things that weren't nice but none as bad as that.

Haven's POV was extremely repetitive. All she did was think alternate thinking about how much Andino hurt her and about how much she loved him. She couldn't say no to him when he was around. She seemed pathetic especially compared to the way she acted in Duty. All of her strength and fierce independence disappeared. Why did she love him? I can't explain it. Aside from good sex, he didn't bring anything good into her life.

Serious relationship issues were rapped up very quickly at the end. Andino made a grand gesture to prove that he really did love Haven, but it was also extremely selfish. Honestly, I think he would have taken the same course of action whether Haven had been in his life or not, so the sacrifice he made didn't seem highly significant. Nothing he did made up for the other horrible shit he did. He should have had to grovel and beg for her forgiveness, but it didn't happen.

Remember your first heartbreak...yeah prepare to relive it with Andi & Haven only 10x worse! Holy shit my heart.

Despite knowing there’s a HEA coming, you still have to brace yourself for this ride. The beginning is a serious tug-o-war of sorts....I literally didn’t know what or how to feel bc I was so flabbergasted at times. Andi that sneaky sneaky man is up to sooooo much (good) trouble between La Costra Nostra and John/Siena AND Haven you can’t help but get your hopes up and root him on!

Their sexual chemistry is so steamy even through the heart ache, I don’t blame Haven for caving throughout the storyline. Andi, the little shit really steps it up in this one and further proves why he’s taking over as the head of the family. The chaos he creates and strategy to get the girl in the end ....it just all comes full circle and I really can’t wait to see glimpses of him as the new Marcello boss and Haven by his side.

So bring on the outtakes BK. I need more of these two! ❤️

Haven is worthy of a Marcello! Although Andino tugged on my heart strings as every Marcello does, Haven is one of my favorite heroines!

Vow is the heart-stopping conclusion to Haven and Andino’s story. Vow has everything we expect from a Marcello novel. Sacrifice, intrigue, danger, and epic drama! I absolutely love Andino and Haven’s incredible story!

5 stars!

I’m still reeling from the emotional turmoil this book put me through. At the end of Duty, I was left heartbroken. I didn’t know how long this book was going to take to repair it. Inknew going into this book that it was going to be an emotional roller coaster.

Haven knew from the get go that Andino was trouble. Trouble to her heart and delicious trouble to her body. She had no clue how much he was actually going to break it before he repaired it. Although she supposed to stay away from him in order to heal and ger sanity, she kept on going back to him. It was never enough. Never enough time with him. Never enough seeing him. Never enough of his smiles and laughter. Never enough of his all consuming kisses. Never enough of his electric touches and definitely never enough of the wild way in which he fucked her. She knew her heart was being ripped to shreds every time they parted ways but she wanted him more. A look from him was all it took to forget everything else.

Andino on the other hand loved Haven just as much. He just couldn’t show it. It was beyond frustrating how he kept on pushing her away but pulling her back in at the same time. He wanted to please his family and protect them but also put himself first as well. He knew Haven was his forever after but he had to break her heart in the meantime to give everyone what they wanted. He kept his plan to himself and our poor girl was left clueless and heartsore.

I hated Dante in these two books although I like loved him in his book. I felt like shaking him a couple of times and telling him to wake the hell up. Wake up and look how much your nephew is hurting! ...... But you still gotta love the Marcello’s even when you think they don’t put love first.

Bethany-Kris is one hell of a mafia romance writer! Thank You for giving us Haven and Andino.

Haven was leaving, her mother’s cancer had returned, and she didn’t need to be here anymore. Listening to the radio she heard about a shooting, and Andino had been shot.
Haven was taking Andino in and she should have said no to him, he was fine, then, she saw his injury. After some clarity, that he discarded her she goes to leave, but he stopped her with a kiss, she couldn’t resist him and agrees to be his for the night.
Andino can’t stay away from Haven, he loves her more than anything, but he has to set things in place to get what he wants in the end, which includes agreeing to marry Ginevra Calabrese as a way to make peace between the families.
Andino is doing everything he can to ensure that Haven will be his, but he can’t let her know any of his plans and he knows he’s hurting her.
Haven knows the only way to stop Andino from hurting her is to leave as much as she loves him, and he says he loves her. Haven calls her mother to let her know when she will be arriving but her mother pics up on what is wrong, Haven lets her know love shouldn’t hurt, her mother says love is crazy,
- It is worth the pain, and hurt, and everything else that comes along with it – what does the Phoenix do?
- It Rises
- It Rises and so does love – if that’s what you want.
Haven wonders has she made the right choice, should she let him explain or was it all too late.

“No sé cómo no amarte.”

Vow brings the long-awaited continuation of the story of Andino and Haven, two people who are perfect together, but fate, or rather duty, doesn't allow them to be together.

I again will not go into the merits of the story, not to give any spoilers, but I can say that the character of the book for me was Andino. If anyone had any doubts how manipulative he is.His mind is fascinating and it was delicious and frustrating at times to see that he doesn't take no for an answer and always manipulates everyone and everyone around him to get what he wants.I wanted to kiss him in one moment and hit him in the next, thinks of a character who stirred my emotions and his name is Andino.

Andino and Haven are great characters and even though I didn't like some of their behavior during the story, it was great to see that even the world being against them the feeling between them was there more alive than ever.Certainly this book was a roller coaster of emotions, all along to see the universe of mafiosos, its rules, conflicts which added great tension to the book.

I just thought the ending was rushed, and the conflict could have been solved a little earlier so we could see a bit more of Andino and Haven as a couple and her interaction with his family.

I've been waiting for the story of these two a while ago and now I can say that the wait was worth it because Bethany-kris once again delivered a totally intriguing and captivating story from start to finish

I Received an unreleased copy of this book

❝The devil wasn’t a man with red skin, hooves for feet, and horns on his head. No, the devil was the most handsome, charming man with hands that could make a woman sing, and lies on the tip of his tongue. The devil was a man who made her want to die for him, but all he did was fucking kill her instead. And he did it without a second thought, or regret. He did it unashamed of the heartache he caused.❞

the covers of this duet are so stunning.

as for the story … it was alright. the lack of groveling and strong-heroine-turned-doormat are what annoyed me. their relationship turned toxic way too quickly.

Incredible Conclusion to a Love Story 5+Stars....

Andino and Haven's Story, Book 2... A forbidden love. "Maybe if she gave it one last go---did this whole f--- dance with him one more time---she would be able to walk away. It'd be done, her need sated, even if her heart..." But it's never done without the hurt and pain her heart is suffering. This is a book that will draw you in with so much emotion flowing. My heart broke for Haven. Andino, trapped in a world of the Marcello Crime Family, a soon to be Boss of this family. He cannot have both, the life he is to lead as the Boss and Haven, the tattooed beauty that owns a strip club. To be boss Andino must marry a respectable woman... You must read this book, but read Book 1, "Duty" first. They are both extraordinary!!!

Me amas.
—No sé cómo no amarte, Haven."
