Written in 1988 this book brings us up to just after the publication of 'The Only Problem', the novel Spark published in 1984. Dorothea Walker offers a straightforward and perfectly readable analysis of Muriel Spark's work. It is not particularly insightful or trail blazing in its reflection but as a resource to run back through the plotting and development of the books it is useful.
Dorothea Walker is one of those writers who has the ability to draw together theories and ideas and make them easy to follow but has the misfortune to do that so well that nothing stands out as original or memorable.
