Better than I thought, it is very similar to the play Ruthven.
The plot --A group of travelers seek shelter for the night in an allegedly cursed castle and are joined by a strange visitor (Alan) upon the stroke of midnight. Shortly after, dead bodies begin to be found, completely drained of their blood. After exiting the room of one of the murdered individuals Alan is shot and killed due to suspicion, though after realizing their mistake the travelers promise to lay his body in the moonlight rather than bury him. Later that week, it is revealed that a local woman, Ada, who was believed to have been dead for over five days was resurrected by a strange visitor from the cursed castle. Though now upon her reawakening, she is no longer the same girl and now wishes to be wed to the magically no longer dead Alan rather than her long time love Edgar. Edgar grows suspicious of Alan and challenges him to a duel, with the winner being allowed to marry Ada. While at the duel, Alan surprises Edgar and attacks him with a knife, but a viewer is able to shoot Alan through the heart, stopping him for the time being. In the end, they agree to toss Alan’s dead body into the peak of a dark chasm to prevent the moon from resurrecting him any further.
