A cowboy committed to bachelorhood…until these little Montana Twins change everything
Thanks to his dysfunctional family, cowboy-to-the-bone Colt Hardin insists marriage and fatherhood aren’t for him. But then his uncle dies, leaving Colt the ranch he’s always wanted—and the herd to his late cousin’s mischievous twin toddlers. Now Colt must find a solution with their pretty mother, Jane Marshall. Can these little cherubs show Jane and Colt what a family can truly be?
"We're no Norman Rockwell family ideal out here. We are just regular people. Some of us are hurt. Personally, I'm a little messed up. We're trying really hard to overcome a whole lot of hurdles. We're a family, but are not always good at being one, either." (p 55-56)
That cuteness overload cover delivers exactly what it promises. Swooning over Colt Hardin is a given -- especially when he's wrangling twins! He's all tough "cowboy-to-the-bone" -- a confirmed bachelor who intends to stay that away thanks to his bitter views on marriage. Watching him work through his angst was both heartbreaking and uplifting. Jane and her twins are the catalyst that hurl him along an emotional journey towards wholeness. Loved the give and take between these two. They develop a bond of friendship that threatens to deepen into something neither of them is looking for. Thankfully, the author had other plans and included enough toe-curling scenes to delight this hopelessly romantic reader. Awesomesauce from start to finish!
I loved this sweet story, with its realistic look at marriage, single parenthood, and starting over. The author created likeable, flawed characters and portrayed the heartache that can come from broken families, but she balanced it beautifully with grace and hope.
I enjoyed the adorable twins, Suzie and Micha, and their interactions with tough-guy, hero Colt. Heroine Jane's independence and determination made her a great match for the cowboy bachelor. One scene (in church) was especially sweet & humorous!
Highly recommend for fans of contemporary romance. I'm eager to read more by this talented romance author!
Colt Hardin has just inherited his uncle Beau's ranch. He has been working the ranch for 20 years . Now his hard work has paid off and he will have his dream of running his own ranch. At the reading of the will, Colt will get a surprise. His uncle did leave him the ranch but Beau left the cattle to his twin granddaughters . Josh Marshall was Beau's only son and was suppose to inherit the ranch but he left the ranch to list in the military . He had no desire to run the ranch. And apparently while he was gone he got married and fathered twin girls. Josh and his dad had a bad relationship and was cut out of the will many years ago. No one knew about his wife Jane and the girls. Josh died before he could make peace with his dad. What will Colt do with a ranch with no cattle? How will he get his cattle back? What will Colt do about Jane and her daughters? Jane Marshall has come to her late husband's home town Creekside ,Montana to find what's left of his family and to be present at the reading of her late father-in-law's will. Her daughters are named in the will. As soon as she arrives she comes face to face with Josh's cousin Colt Hardin. Colt has been working and living on the ranch for many years and is expected to inherit it. After his father took off he started working the ranch. At the reading of the will Jane discovers that Beau left the ranch to Colt as expected but left the cattle to her young daughters . Why in the world would Beau leave two twin toddlers cattle? What was he thinking and how will this help Jane provide for her girls? This book is part of the Montana twins series. It is a stand along book. This is a sweet, clean, Christian read . This story is also about two people who have decide not to get married and don't believe in the intuition of marriage in general. I loved how things tuned out and how the author showed not to give up on marriage and that it can be a great thing with the right person. This was my first read by this author and I really enjoyed it.
One of the Montana Twins series, in which Colt Hardin inherits his uncle's ranch, a property his late cousin never wanted, but resented what his father intended. Also in the story is Jane Marshall, his cousin's widow, who arrives to hear the will where she is given the cattle that Colt needs to keep the ranch in the black. What's he to do? Buy her out, of course. But what's he going to use for money?
While waiting to see how they can work out the splitting of the property as specified in the will, Colt finds himself drawn to Jane's 2-year-old twin girls and Jane comes to the conclusion that maybe Colt is the man she's been looking for all her life. But neither wants marriage. He knows no one who's been happy shackled to another and she's just come out of a marriage that was more work than she'd anticipated.
When a neighbor offers to buy a portion of the ranch, which will help Colt pay for the cattle, it's clear that he's going to lose Jane if he doesn't declare how he feels. But does she feel the same? And, if she does, what are they going to do about it?
This was a cute, christian, cowboy story! Although it is book 2 of the Montana Twins series, it can be read as a stand alone book.
I enjoyed reading about the ranch life through Colt's eyes and all the hard work and dedication it takes day after day. I liked the main character Jane and her determination to make a life for herself and her twin girls. Both Colt and Jane have had bad, dysfunctional family and extended family relationships so both are hesitant to be in any relationship, especially marriage.
For most of the book, they shared their struggles and complaints about family, love, and never wanting to marry-which kind of bummed me out because I was hoping for something more "uplifting" and positive to the story line.
Overall though, I enjoyed the book, characters and ranch setting!
I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.
I was given the privilege of an early read on this book, it was so good. I could picture Suzie and Micha in my mind getting into trouble only toddlers can get into. Colt and Jane clicked from the moment they met although neither one would admit it. Patricia Johns has great descriptive powers you can just picture the land and horses, I especially loved the original cabin they use to escape the rain. Fix your favorite drink and settle in to read this wonderful book.
This was a sweet story. Like another person said, the real aspect of the relationship was very refreshing! The true motherhood moments and the setting was realistic and engaging to read!
This was a very enjoyable book, especially the twins, Micha and Suzie, just as cute as in the picture on the cover, whose antics will have you laughing every time they're on the page! Even though the adults in this book are facing difficult issues of life, including grief, money issues, inheritance and dysfunctional families, don't let that stop you from reading this book--working through tough things, step by step is how we get through life. A happy and hopeful book! Many thanks to Patricia Johns for an advance download of this book-these comments are all my own.
