The illusionary aspect of life and its myths is revealed in a collection of poems that examine the mirage of history and time, the actual triviality of events, and other details of human existence
I'm very specific about the kind of poetry I read and very rarely can actually finish a book of poetry, but this was just in that right place for me. Huge focus on nature & a lesser focus on women from various mythos. Her writing is so precise and so lush that I feel like I could spend weeks just thinking about and reading and rereading and breaking apart each poem. Most of them I enjoyed, a couple I was bored by, and a few spoke to me strongly. My favorite is still the one I went in already having read, "Iphigenia, Setting the Record Straight", but my secondary favorites are "Posthumous Poem", "Water Lace and White Eyes", "Epitaph", "Henry Adams' Wife in Washington, D.C.", "East of the Sun, West of the Moon", "The Illuminator", "Churinga (1975)", and "The Guest". Definitely planning on reading more Wilner.
