The latest installment in the Tarnished Heroes series from New York Times bestselling author Sidney Bristol.
Noah White has done a lot of bad things for the CIA, but this time they've crossed the line. He knows the kill order he's been given is a set-up and the intended target is another covert agent. They’ve finally found a line Noah won’t cross. Not with her.
Lillian Matthews is living in the crosshairs and she knows it. While her friends are spread out over the globe gathering intelligence on a rogue covert agency, it's her job to keep them all connected. Only now she's the target. And her unlikely ally is the last man she'd expect.
Lillian will have to make the biggest sacrifice of her life, because Noah will stop at nothing to protect her.
It can never be said that NYT & USA Today Bestselling author Sidney Bristol has had a ‘normal’ life. She is a recovering roller derby queen, former missionary, and tattoo addict. She grew up in a motor-home on the US highways (with an occasional jaunt into Canada and Mexico), traveling the rodeo circuit with her parents. Sidney has lived abroad in both Russia and Thailand, working with children and teenagers. She now lives in Texas where she splits her time between a job she loves, writing, reading and fostering cats.
Sidney is represented by Nicole Resciniti of the Seymour Agency.
Sidney Bristol takes us on a white knuckle ride in this wildly suspenseful, edge of your seat, page turning story. Intense and twisted, I loved every single minute of it! In the third book of this overlapping series Lillian and Noah are front and center and we also get to see the characters from the previous books. Lillian and Noah meet again when Noah appears at her apartment to kill her. Noah is an assassin, has worked with the group before and is privy to the danger that underpins the the series, the SICA group. Lillian acts as handler if you will for the others who are now dispersed globally to keep them safe from danger, she basically disseminates information, coordinates communication and is an expert computer "coder" along with her many other tasks. Noah doesn't want to kill Lillian, he's got some feelings there so he gives her no choice but to flee with him, while operating off the radar and Noah feels their best bet is to flee the country while trying to figure out who the rat in the woodpile is. The mystery person we get the gist works for the government yet their identity is in question along with formulating a plan to take down SICA once and for all. It was great to get a look at the previous books characters, their lives now and their efforts in pulling all this off. The story is full of twist and turns which is an understatement, suspense builds and never lets up along with the feelings between Noah and Lillian. I will admit I cursed Ms Bristol a few times wondering if she was truly trying to kill me with the curves she continued to throw into the story. She gave me a serious case of whiplash along with "damn I didn't see that coming." Truly a page turner. This full length book is a must read along with the first two in the series. My thanks to Ms Bristol for the almost heart attacks and her writing skills that just don't quit. She's an adept storyteller in every way, shape and form.
arc from NetGalley and Entangled for an honest review
This is the third book in the Tarnished Heroes series by Sidney Bristol.
I feel like this is an ongoing series that jumps from one book to the next. Since this is book three in a series, there is a lot of back story that is missed. So, if you want to know everything that is going on, pick up books one and two first.
This story has a heck of a lot of cast members milling around. It basically focuses on Lillian Matthews and Noah White but you need to get familiar with them all because they keep coming back up. This is a fast-paced novel that doesn’t let up for one second. Noah is not exactly the boy next door, more like the assassin next door. He is full of complex emotions and frames of reference that no one can really understand if you are not in that type of CIA-esque work. Lillian is the glue that keeps all the teams together. She is the handler and I was surprised a handler was so involved in the lives of her agents. It is like Buffy just hanging out with Giles or Sydney Bristow besting besties with Arvin Sloane. Just plain odd, if you ask me. But in this respect it really works.
Most of this story, all the intelligence, is totally over my head and probably over the heads of most Americans who don’t make it their job to keep tabs on all the bad guys of the world. This was a mind melter for me. I had no idea how this group of seventeen or so operatives could get themselves out of the hot water they had so readily jumped into to save the butts of the American people. There is a conclusion at the end but I felt it was a bit open ended since I assume a new book will come after this one.
The action is top notch and keeps you interested all the way through. There is a bit of sex but it is tame, more like a normal romantic suspense novel. My heart was clutching through most of this so it keeps you engaged too. Definitely pick this up if you like your romance filled with covert ops.
Highly recommended.
I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.
Rating 3.5/5* So who ensures the covert operators in organisations like the CIA actually obey the law and don't work together for their own ends? In this fast paced but intricately detailed romantic suspense Noah White disobeys his order to kill Lillian Matthews, instead endeavouring to keep her safe from those out to assassinate her. This involves multiple international agencies, a rogue covert agency, blackmail, deceit, double crossing and plenty of action packed drama.
The story is part of a series but is written as a standalone so you don't need to have read the earlier books to find yourself engrossed in this story. I hadn't read the earlier books and suspect I might have found this a little less confusing if I had read about some of the diverse characters before. It isn't a quick read, involves events and organisations in several different countries and the outcome is never certain. You're never quite certain who to trust, who is working with you and who is against you, so get ready for plenty of surprises along the way. It is an engaging spy thriller with a side helping of romance, too.
I requested and was gifted a copy of this book via NetGalley and this is my honest review after choosing to read it.
First time reading anything from this author and it won’t be the last. This story grabbed my attention right away and I finished the book in just a few hours. The action and character development are spot on and so was the pacing of events. Each character held their own through their actions, relationships and backstory...additionally they all contributed to the overall storyline. The blend of romance and intrigue was enjoyable and had me rooting for Noah and Lillian almost immediately.
As mentioned I had not read anything from this author before and this was book three in a series. While I now want to go read the other two books to have more detail and action adventures with the other couples, the writing is so detailed and vivid in this story that I do agree that it can be read as a stand-alone.
If you like action, adventure, political intrigue and a dash or romance then I think you will love this book. I know I did! Thanks NetGalley, Entangled and Sidney Bristol for allowing me to read this book and share my opinions!
3.5 stars.... The third book in this series was a bit confusing for me. I have read the other two books, but must admit I didn’t remember all the previous stories and this book was so complex; that complexity of the plot almost became a deterrent my enjoyment of the book. The book concerns the CIA, a president that the characters don’t seem to trust completely, and a host of activities that the main characters were involved in but I had a hard time following. Overall, i love Sidney Bristol books. I didn’t not like it, i just felt that overall this was a confusing storyline. It did all come together at the end of the story, and everyone got their HEA, so that made it a good book for me.
Traitor Games by Sidney Bristol Tarnished Heroes #3
This one was hard to put down once I began reading! Action and suspense from beginning to end! With evil to thwart and lives on the line it is a near miracle that Noah and Lillian don’t end up injured or dead...several times!
Noah is a CIA contractor who realizes there is a line he won’t cross so instead of killing the target he soon finds himself on the run with her trying to keep her alive. Lillian is the “handler” who strategizes and keeps all the players sorted and safe. With pursuit hot on their tale they cross borders and oceans working with others who are all out to cut the head off SICA – a hidden group that has tentacles everywhere. Will they be able to achieve their goal? How many will die in the process?
What I liked: * Noah – a cool customer with a heart of gold...swoonworthy * Lillian – stronger than she realizes and brilliant, too * The other couples that had previous books but play a big part in this one, too (Mitch & Irene, Andy & Carol, Rand & Sarah) * That not everyone makes it out alive * The bad guys eventually do get their comeuppances * The plotting, writing and overall story * Demetrius – interesting guy that perhaps needs a book of his own
What I didn’t like; * The bad guys I was meant not to like
Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing – Amara for the ARC - This is my honest review.
Truly a edge of seat book! Noah is a CIA agent, his handler is dirty. Lillian is handler of a group of CIA agents that are trying to take down the rouge group in their own system. Who wins? Does the good duty get his girl? How does the President of the United States play into this? Good guy or bad? This book was filled with suspense, adventure and a love that stays true or does it?
I read this book as an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review. It gets a 5star standing ovation.
Traitor Games is the latest installment in the Tarnished Heroes and while it can be read standalone I feel like you will enjoy it much more having read the first two books. This romantic thriller is fast paced action, intrigue and love. Independent contractor for the CIA Noah White has received orders to kill Washington fixer Lillian Matthews. Noah knows she is one of the good guys and thus starts this adventure. This exciting story takes us on the run all over the world and keeps you on edge till the very last page. Fantastic!
Traitor Games (Tarnished Hero’s Novel) Book 3 By: Sidney Bristol
📚💕⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💕📚
Intense page after page!
Hello book hangover. I’ve spent the last week reading all three books in the Tarnished Heroes saga. These books are intense and written to the point of intense imagination. While yes each book could be read alone I think read together gives a much better explanation of what these amazing people are fighting for.
The writing is flawless, and the words are so captivating, the plot had so many twists and turns and none that I was expecting, and many shocking moments.
I really enjoyed this book and it kept me engrossed throughout. I really loved the characters and the way they interacted with each other. This is a fun, hot, romantic must read book and I would definitely recommend this book to anyone.
Authors Blurb: Noah White has done a lot of bad things for the CIA, but this time they've crossed the line.
This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV my personal favorite this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.
This is the third book in the series, introducing not one but two other couples to the fight to unmask SICA, the rogue covert agency mirroring the CIA. When CIA contract field asset, Noah White is ordered to kill Lillian Mathews, he knows that, something is wrong in the CIA, and instead his new mission is to protect her. She was living a double life to help save the world, and the sick SICA organization wants to stop her and the others so they can continue to amass wealth and power. Soon they learn that SICA has spread across the globe. Rand and Sarah from the first book, Carol and Andy from the second, in addition to two CIA agents Mitch and Irene have all been framed by SICA and are branded traitors. With other allies, can they stop SICA, before SICA stops them all?
The author skillfully creates captivating characters in this fast pace, action packed page turner. Lots of action and intrigue and with the current revelations of chicanery in the upper echelons of both the CIA and FBI, totally believable. However, I would not recommend reading as a stand alone. Since I read the first book 2 years ago and the second last year, I had to refer back to my reviews to keep up. That is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.
I received a free advanced copy of this book from NetGalley.com. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
I read book two in this series. You don’t need to read any of the previous books. But as there are references to previous book characters, it does help to have a little background. Book one was Rand and Sarah, book two (the one I read) was Andy and Carol (assassin games)
Noah is good at his job. But lately he’s grown weary of it all. And finding out there is an agency hiding undercover in the CIA was a blow, and a little worrying. And now he has a new target (a clean up job) he’s worried that it’s going to get messy ...... And if he doesn’t kill her, someone else will. At least he wouldn’t make her suffer, it would be quick and clean. But he can’t do it, so to find out who wants her dead, he’s going to have to step in and protect her.
Lillian is being stalked, she’s known it for a while, but why? What could they possibly gain from her death? And she knows it will be her death. And when her would be protector makes himself known, Lillian is confused, and extremely wary. He says he’s there to kill her, but he doesn’t want to, so what does he want?
Together Lillian and Noah don’t have much time to figure out who is trying to kill her and why. Each thought the other wasn’t interested in a romantic way, and with miscommunication and jumping to the wrong conclusions about each other, they don’t seem to be on the same page. But both are aware of the attraction growing between them.
So who is trying to kill Lillian? And can she really trust Noah? He could be playing a bluff, and when her guard is down, that’s when he will strike and kill her.
The book is very fast paced and full of action. The characters work well together, and we get to see previous characters come together to help Noah and Lillian. There are also other forces working to silence Lillian forever. So who do you trust ?
This is the second book int he Tarnished Heroes series I have read. Some might say this can be read as a stand alone novel but I wouldn't recommend it. There are lots of characters from the other books that are spread though out this one that new readers will become lost.
The story moves quickly lots of gun batters, running, car chases, and endless sex scenes that fill in the gap when the other characters are taking charge in the background.
The spy, romance, thrillers is a exciting series that readers have comes to know and love about Sidney Bristol. It is every spy movie you have seen and made into a book series readers can't get enough of. Readers will wonder is it really over or has it just begun?
The characters are charming, and comes off the page with the details the author provides but keeping the story moving forward.
I repeat start at the beginning of the series before you start this book. Each one is a romance spy thriller that will keep readers wanting more.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher Entangled Publishing. LLC (Amara) for the advance copy of Sidney Bristol Traitor Games
This is the third book in this series and I do feel that you need to have read the earlier books to get the full story in fact i bought 1 and 2 so I could catch up (book 1 is free at present)
There are a lot of characters in this story and at times it is hard to keep them all sorted out in your head (part of the reason for needing the earlier books) but this story mainly focuses on Noah and Lillian He is a hired assassin working for the CIA but he has found that there is another group working in the background now he has been given the job of cleaning up and his target is Lillian. Except when he starts to target he finds he can't do the job and decides to protect her instead. Lillian has no idea how she has been drawn into this and who wants her dead she doesn't even know if she can trust Noah but as they spend more time together the attraction between them grows. This is a sharply written suspense novel that draws you in and keeps you engaged until the very last page I highly recommend it
the tarnished heroes series continues with traitor games, and the crew of underground cia agents are working to figure out the mole within the government who is the root of the problem that drives the series arc.
in this story our main leads are lillian and noah, she's an analyst with limited field experience and he's a contract hitman who prefers to live in the shadows. they shouldn't click the way they do. noah knows that his hands are probably too dirty to be good for someone like lillian, but she means something to him. and he comes to mean everything to her.
the chemistry between the two leads and the suspense and danger of the plot all come together in this fast-paced thriller. this series has been so enjoyable to read.
**traitor games will publish on july 22, 2019. i received an advance reader copy courtesy of netgalley/entangled publishing (amara) in exchange for my honest review.
Wow! Another winner! This is a fast paced story that had me flipping pages just as quickly as possible - I couldn't wait to read what happened next, but was sorry when it ended.
This novel focused on Noah and Lillian as they worked together to help take down the shadow group that has infiltrated the government. This is a complex tale with lots of moving parts that the author wove together into a compelling story. I was completely engrossed in the book and loved reading about Noah and Lillian's story as their relationship developed.
Fans of the genre will love this book. This is a stand alone novel, however you'll enjoy it so much more if you've read the prior books. The author is on my must read authors' list.
Very tightly charged plot, engaging characters and a "bad guy" worthy of James Bond.
Really well written and researched. Noah and Lillian are a great couple. Noah is like a knight in tarnished armour and Lillian is the truly courageous civilian who ends up enveloped in a very twisty plot!
Some characters redeem themselves, some fall further into the darkness. The couples from the previous books all make an appearance and there are a few new characters to interest you. Jeff especially is very...enterprising. I did feel for poor Lillian, she loves her job in the family's fixer business but fitting into the tightly controlled mould made by her sister, is a very tough way to live.
This book just didn’t do it for me. It felt as though I was constantly trying to catch up with parts of the story that had been told in previous books in the series. Maybe that was the problem. I just wasn’t invested in any of the characters, and should have read the other books in the series before this one. I just found that there were too many characters and story lines to try to keep straight and I felt as though I was thrown in the deep end. I wanted a lot more of the book to be focused on the two main characters, Noah and Lillian. The writing was fine, but I just didn’t enjoy feeling like I was missing something. Note: This title was given to me by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
What an action packed drama as Lillian and Noah team up after Noah decides that he can't go through with his mission to kill her!
Throughout the book, we see other couples from previous books play an important part as this team tries to take down SICA but at every turn, they are barely keeping ahead of the bad guys.
Along with the intrigue, Noah and Lillian grown closer and yet Noah can't seem to find a way to fit his life and Lillian together so you wonder how they will get their HEA.
Lots of intrigue and romance so it was hard to put this book down! Great ending and final showdown.
Non-stop action that will have you tensing up and wanting to keep reading long into the night. There are characters from previous books and you really have to pay attention to know what is going on. All the characters are written in their own unique voice. The action is suspenseful and not cheesy or unbelievable. I think you can believe that this stuff happens every day. Noah and Lillian have you rooting for them all along. And the bad guys are really horrible and this story makes you wonder if all of the bad guys are revealed. A fantastic romantic suspense story.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher through NetGalley.
Noah has been given the assignment to eliminate Lillian but he knows it’s a bogus order and that he’ll do anything to protect her. Lillian is used to being behind the scenes but now she’s very much front and center and needs Noah.
I love a good romantic suspense and Traitor Games did not disappoint. I do wish I had read the first books in the series but the action and chemistry of this one kept me turning the pages.
I can’t wait to go back and catch up on the series!
I received a complimentary review copy of this book but all opinions are my own.
I received an advanced reader's copy of Traitor Games by Sidney Bristol from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This was the first novel that I had read by Sidney Bristol so I really had no expectations, but after reading, she is an author I would look for in the future.
Overall, I enjoyed this novel and I found it to be well written. The primary characters' romantic start was explosive from the beginning - he (Noah) obviously liked her (Lillian), she fooled herself into thinking she disliked him and then realized after he risked himself to save and help her that she did indeed care about him - and just got warmer from there. The steamy scenes weren't every other page, and that's a good thing since there was an actual (enjoyable!) plot with this novel, but they were definitely hot.
The plot was fast paced and the intrigue kept me engrossed from start to finish. All in all, a very fun read!
This book fascinated me from the beginning. It had plenty of intrigue and action to keep me guessing at what might come next and so much came up that I wasn’t expecting. I even found myself making notes of some of the characters and players to keep everyone straight! I haven’t read the first two books in the Tarnished Heroes series but I look forward to reading them soon.
I received an Advanced Readers Copy free from the publisher in exchange for my honest opinion of this book. I can’t wait to read all the book in this series.
I really, really enjoyed this one. The suspense, intrigue and action storyline is way above average from what I expect when going into a romantic suspense book. This book took excitement to the next level!! Had me swiping the pages as fast as my fingers could handle. Sidney Bristol is a masterful storyteller and in this case will absolutely delight her readers with this edge of your seat action suspense read. Definitely will have me coming back for more. Happy reading!!
actually had a hard time getting into this book. I’m not sure why, but Noah and lily will grab your attention. This book is about finishing up from where two other books left off, destroying an inner government secret society of terrorists. If you like Grisham, Baldacci, Patterson, this book is for you. This is a spy thriller that takes you on a ride, once you start you don’t want to stop until the bad guys are caught!
An enjoyable read overall, but I felt like I missed a bit of the backstory etc as I didn’t realise it was book 3 in a series when I started it. I will have to go back and read the first 2 books now, to feel like I haven’t missed anything crucial.
But overall, it was a well developed plot and I really enjoyed the character development.
This series is impressive. Fueled with adrenaline pumping action. This is Noah and Lillian’s story as they join the others on the run from SICA. Noah is an alpha male who is tasked with protecting Lillian. She is learning to be strong in the face of danger. As they keep dodging the bad guys they are drawn closer and closer together. You will enjoy this fast paced roller coaster ride as they try to take out the bad guys while staying one step ahead of them. In the end the goods guys stay in the lead, but is it all over.
I didn't love this book but it was very well written and full of lots of action. I just never felt compassion, or any caring, for Noah and Lillian. They're relationship didn't have the sparks I wanted either. There were so many characters and their stories were difficult for me to follow. I assume I'd have been OK if I'd read books 1 and 2 in the series.
Traitor Games is Book 3 in the Tarnished Heroes series and it lives up to the high standards of the first 2 books. This is a fast paced, action filled, thriller romance that will keep you engaged from the start. I loved it.
