Having never read Mikey Lee before, I decided to step out of my normal reading genre and try something a little different. Also, I haven't read many stories from male authors so I was anxious to see how the story was going to play out.
Lee did a really good job with the plot--there was a good blend of romance, mystery and suspense. The writing was pretty simple and nothing too over the top. Some scenes could've been developed a little more, but for the most part, he stuck to the story and didn't deviate too much from the main focus.
I found that I really liked Seth's character, having just been promoted into a new position after coming back from a trip/vacation with his wife, Zee. I was a bit hesitant about Ashley, who replaced Seth's previous position, in the beginning, but she grew on me throughout the story. The story itself was very fast-paced, which I liked.
What I discovered though, is that I would like to go back and read the previous stories in the series because if they're as captivating as Detecting Pride, then I know I'm really going to enjoy them as well. A perfect afternoon read!
