Gianna Harris doesn’t think twice when joining a program seeking surrogates for an alien shifter planet whose female population was decimated during war. It’s better than grieving a mother who doesn’t remember her. With tears, Gianna says her goodbyes then travels to planet Daeria where she meets not one, but two sexy dragons who claim she’s their mate.
As the dragon king and leader of the shifter council, Voss has a duty to rebuild the planet after a shifter war destroyed everything. The surrogate program was supposed to be simple. The female volunteers are assigned to the shifter species they want and are not forced to do anything they don’t want.
When Voss caught the scent of one of the first females to arrive at the spaceport, he and his best friend, Azar, break a few rules to claim their true mate. They steal her away from the wolves she was assigned to. And a particular wolf wants her badly enough to start another war if she isn’t turned over.
Milly Taiden (also writes as April Angel) was born in the prettiest part of the Caribbean (to her) known as the Dominican Republic. Currently, she resides in New York City with her husband, bossy young son and their little dog Speedy.
When she’s not working full-time, texting with her best friend Heidi in England, chastising her son for pulling the dog’s ears, shopping with her sister Jewel or watching scary movies with her husband, she can be found writing on her laptop.
She’s addicted to shoes, chocolate, Dunkin Donuts coffee and JIMMY THOMAS covers!!!
This was a really good story and I enjoyed it a lot. But it is a very short story and the description gives the basic outline of the story so I can't say much more without getting into spoilers.
Voss (the King of the Planet) and Azar (Voss' second in command) are the 2 Dragon shifters and that bonded in childhood and grew up closer than brothers. Gianna didn't have much left on Earth and was looking for a new life when she signed up for the surrogate program. Gianna had a few minor issues that seemed slightly our of place for her character but overall, she was a really good and likable heroine. Voss and Azar are about what you'd expect for Dragon shifters that found their fated mate they never thought to hope for after not having women around for over a decade...strong, protective, sweet and very intent on pleasing. Once a few difficulties are worked out, Voss, Azar and Gianna end the story together and heading into a sweet HEA.
Overall, this was a very good story. I liked the characters and the story was quick but very engaging and was an enjoyable way to spend a few hours so I'd recommend it. :)
A great new series to really sink your teeth into! Gianna has left earth after volunteering to be a surrogate on the planet Daria. Daria has been in war and most the females were killed in the process, to help reestablish the bonds between the shifter groups and repopulate the planet, the dragon king and leader of the shifter council, Voss, proposed volunteer human females travel to Daria to be surrogates and be handsomely paid for doing so. Gianna is among the first group of women to arrive on Daria and was meant to go to the wolf pack compound but Voss and his best friend Azar take one look at Gianna and know she is meant to be theirs. When all the women from the first group end up as true mates to the dragons, Voss has to find a way to make it right with the angry wolves while also stopping someone who wants to see the war between the different factions on Daria continue. Gianna goes to Daria thinking she is being paid to help repopulate the planet, she doesn’t expect to find her true mate with not just one but two of the sexiest men she has ever seen. This was a wonderful and fast read, I read it in one sitting. I can’t wait to see what the next book will bring to this series!
Gianna and three other human females head to another planet to help repopulate after a war has decimated the female population. All the volunteers have their reasons for joining the surrogate program. Gianna's mother has Alzheimer's and doesn't recognize her anymore. The program will support her in the best facility for her remaining days. Landing the women are to be taken to their assigned shifter clan.
The king who arranged the program greets the first group and realizes he's unprepared for the most basic complication. Mates. What if any of the women are mates to a male in a clan different then they are scheduled to join? Like the first woman he sees who is--HIS OWN MATE--and his friend and second's mate to share.
Now what? She's his. So he takes her. Good thing she feels the pull as well. So you're thinking this is going to cause a big mess. That is the least of it believe me. Dragons, mystical beings, magic jewelry, and so much steam.
The story has plenty of action (in and out of the bedroom) The males have to adjust to strong earth women who don't plan to sit around having babies and nothing else. How will they manage? What about the original mating assignment? When danger comes too close will they return to war or be able to find a peaceful settlement?
A good story with strong characters, steam, and action. I am ready to read the rest of the series.
Signing up for the surrogate program gets Gianna more than she ever dreamed she could have...two hot Alphas who are totally devoted to her, three new friends that she meets on her long journey and the adventure of a lifetime. Filled with action, passion and intrigue, Dragons’ Jewel is fast read and a great story. And with so many other wonderful characters and the unfolding story of a planet trying to rebuild after a devastating war, there’s sure to be more books to follow. Highly recommended.
Cute story about a lucky woman who takes a chance on an escape to.another planet to help them by having babies and gets lucky enough to call in love with two sexy men.
I do so love dragons! Milly's latest Dragons' Jewel was an amazing and entertaining story. A sweet quick read, awesome cover. Gia is off on a new adventure for herself she is partly excited, partly nervous but fully determined. Daeria is a world at the beginning or regrowth and rebuilding, a tug of war nearly destroyed their world a world not too much different than Earth, Gia would soon find out.
The Dragon Clan and King Voss and his BFF are ready to muddy the waters just a bit when the ladies arrived and they both honed in a scent that was theirs for life.
I really liked the Wraith King and hope we hear from him again soon. The other secondary characters were awesome as well, its a tell tell sign of some fun stories in our future. A bit of danger and a little mystery, the hot scenes were hot, not as hot as I'm used to from Ms. Taiden but yeah. A great story and a great start of a new series! Enjoy
This is the start of an intriguing new world. Gianna is ready to be shifter surrogate. Voss and Azar turn those plans upside-down. Then the thrilling adventure truly begins.
Book one of Milly Taiden new series Nightflame Dragon. Gianna travels to a distant plant that has alien shifters that are desperate for willing females to be surrogates to continue the species. When Gianna arrives she’s told she and her new friends will be going to Wintervale Wolf Pack but when Gianna meets Voss the King of the Dragons and Azar his best friend and second in command things get complicated and Gianna and her friends are kidnapped by the Dragon Clan. I really liked that the women in the first surrogate group are independent strong women with important or educated jobs before becoming surrogates and travelling to whole different galaxy. Really enjoyed this whole book but I did think Gianna sighed to much which is why I didn’t give it 5⭐️ Definitely looking forward to more in series especially knowing that the other women didn’t go to Wintervale Pack. Great ending as well, only wish we could have do some of what they do in book.
I'm not quite sure what happened here. I have always thought of Milly Taiden's works as something I could count on as being a great read. This one fell short. The books feels like it was rushed to the publisher's. The plot line isn't all that great and you wouldn't even know it was sci-fi except for the occasional mention of space ships and whatnot. The main characters are super one dimensional. There's not very much banter and the sex scenes are boring. Honestly, I'm very disappointed because all of those things are something you could count on Milly writing well. I couldn't even bring myself to finish this one. That all being said, I really did like the premise and the idea behind the plot; hopefully this can get an overhaul eventually and reflect what I'm sure most of us have come to expect from the author.
It's review time 🎧 Warning ⚠️ :alien/shifter romance
Narrator score🎧 ; the Narrator was nice, her voice is ok. And the fact that the story was told in 3rd person worked for her.
Level of steam🔥: the book was hot 🔥 and they had a lot of moments.
Level of anxiety and sadness0😱😢: the book isn't sad at all, its a simple story without much competition.
The book itself📖: the story is cute , a very obvious Shifter story , with the element of aliens in it, with war between species. And overall it was nice story, with a nice conflict that wasn't too much. It was a cute fastime
A new series start with promise unfulfilled. It was alright for the most part. I mean there were some exciting scenes and the plot itself was cool, but the execution was sluggish. Usually, a Milly Taiden book is a sure thing, I guess this is her one-off. I had trouble finishing it, to be honest, but because I love everything else she's written, I wanted to give the book an opportunity to get better. The quality fluctuated with good scenes interspersed in pages of mediocrity. I mean, the good parts were really good, but the not so good parts overshadowed their potentiality. Also, there was a need for better editing. I think a good content edit would have tightened this story up considerably. The planet name was awful, Daeria. Every time I read it, in my head, I heard diarrhea. The idea that the human women would only come in batches of four, is a plot device that is screaming for bride stealing on a planet with no women. The idea of Arden's pack of undesirables possibly starting their own misfit pack was wishy washy. Like they were outcasts but had the freedom to access the other shifter clans areas. The brides were also inconsistent. They came to the planet timidly, but within a week, they grew balls of steel and wanted equal power in running this new planet? I don't think the dark magic was adequately explained or explored. The Wraiths power was centered in the dark forest, but that one was not held to that standard, and I keep coming back to the fearless within a few days imported earth girl with issues. I really wanted to like it more than I did.
I do can't wait for the next book in this next series. It is so funny but the women are so strong willed. Perfect pairing. I hope the other groups get their mates as well but that we get to see all four girls get their hea. And I want the wraith's join the council.Via is good for this planet.
Thought there’d be some fish out of water/help, I’m attracted to 2 men/omg, both men are interested stuff. Instead, they just all jump right into bed together, and the steam is not even hot.
I don’t see where this book is going, and I don’t care, either.
❤️❤️❤️ the author and her many books. But this book was seriously neglected with a decent editing. Very frustrating. Otherwise it had a good storyline and a good potential series. Just need to get that editing taken care of.
This first book of a new series was a good start. I am looking forward to the development of the other earth Women's stories. But, whoever she used to edit this book must have only sought out misspelled words. Every single chapter had grammatical errors. Three off the storyline because I kept word searching for the next error.
We have a new world to explore in this new series of Milly Taiden.
Gianna joins a shifter surrogate program to help her stop grieving for her mother who doesn't remember her. She meets Voss, who immediately knows she's his and his best friend Azar's mate. But things are not as easy as the dragons have forged a shaky peace with the wolf and leopard clans of the planet. And Gianna was intended for the wolf clan.
I found this book pretty tame and a little ho hum. As the triad and their friends investigate the threat to the peace and to Gianna in particular, it was all very ok. Gianna is a little bland, as is Voss who as king and mate to Gianna, should be larger than life and actually dominate the relationship between the 3. It was as if Azar was the main mate...and who was a better character.
It's a decent start to the series and I am looking for more stories in this world for the other people we were introduced to. But this one was just ok.
WOW! This was one of the best series starters that I have read in a long time! This book was not only a fantastic HEA for Voss, Azur and Gianna, but it was also a great set up for the series. It gave enough background information that one can imagine how the future stories might play out. Loved and fully recommend this book.
Milly Taiden has done it again!!! The matings just keep coming and the current one is better than the last and so on. LOVED this story!!! Gianna and her 2 sexy dragons were delicious together!!!!
King Voss, Azar and Gianna...Gianna volunteered to be a surrogate for a male on a planet on the far side of the Milky Way. Assigned to be a surrogate for the werewolves, but when she arrives, she is kidnapped by her mates, King Voss and Azar. There's plenty of action, hot romance and intrigue in this book. The characters created by author Milly Taiden are an interesting mix of good and evil. I did feel that they needed to be developed more, but that may come in future books. This first book is an excellent start to a new series.
Dragons’ Jewel is the first book in the Nightflame Dragons series. Gianna has accepted her new life to be a surrogate for a dying alien race on Daeria. Upon her arrival, she meets Voss and Azar, a pair of dragon shifters who immediately recognize that Gia is their true mate. Unfortunately, Gia is supposed to travel to the wolf clan, not the dragons, and Voss and Azar decide to break a few rules to keep Gia. But the wolves aren’t their only worry when a clan of rogue shifters enter the picture. Can they all work together to keep Gia safe and avoid a war?
I really enjoyed this new series and the romance between Gia, Voss, and Azar was both passionate and full of a few hiccups. I really loved the new world, bonding customs, and traditions, plus add in four ladies from Earth to blend the culture really added for some fun! Gia really wore her heart on her sleeve, and I loved that she sacrificed her potential happiness for the health of her mother. She was full of enough strength and stubbornness to stand up against an alpha, but able to break down and be vulnerable for her mates. Voss and Azar were both dominant and caring, and were surprised at finding their true mate in a human. I loved their willingness to do anything to protect and keep Gia! This was a great opener to the series and I’m already super curious and excited to see where this series will go next!
I love this new, Nightflame series, by Milly Taiden!! Gianna Harris joins a surrogacy program for an alien shifter planet. There she meets dragon king and leader of the shifter council, Voss. The chemistry between Voss, Gianna and Azar is sizzling! There are so many great opportunities on where to take this new series. Lots of great setup for future books. I’m really looking forward to seeing what Milly has in store for this series.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A good read and will be looking to read more. New series about a planet that makes an agreement with earth for surrogate mothers. This is due to a war that caused a decimation of their females. Gianna signs up to be a surrogate mother as she needs the money to be able to pay for her mother’s medical care. What no one took into account when organising this programme was the fact the women could and would be mates. What a controversy this causes when the first arrivals are all mates of the dragons and not the wolves who were expecting them. Voss, the king of the planet Daria, has to do a lot of tap dancing and sorting out as Gianna is his and his second Azar’s mate.
Have already read this book 3 times. Can't wait for more in this series. Milly Taiden's books never disappoint. She is one of the few authors I know whose books are always more than worth buying.
I loved the story and the characters. I hope this is just the beginning of a series. What threw me off was the many errors in the book. I hope the next one is better edited.
