Visualizing Isaiah is a full- color book filled with beautiful photographs, maps, and charts that illuminate the words of the prophet Isaiah. Author Donald W. Parry, an expert on Isaiah and Old Testament texts, complements the book's gorgeous graphic elements with insight into Isaiah s world.
The book of Isaiah is filled with rich symbolism. Isaiah drew on life around him to illustrate with words the mission of Jesus Christ, the restoration of the gospel, the rewards of the righteous, the fate of the wicked, and prophecies for both modern and ancient times. Readers better grasp this prophet's writings by understanding and visualizing the symbols he used.
The book's pictures capture familiar a woman weaves scarlet wool, and eagle mounts up and soars through the sky, a tender plant grows out of dry ground. These well known passages are infused with life through stunning images and enlightening commentary.
Readers both young and old will enjoy browsing through the colorful pages of pictures and text. And teachers will appreciate photographs, charts, and explanations that shed light on the sometimes complex, always powerful words of Isaiah.

This was a really enjoyable book. While there was not a ton of new information, there were a couple of things I added to my scriptures. It was also really nice to see pictures of some of the objects described in the scriptures. They look very different than I imagined.
This is a nice book to slowly read and let it fill your senses. It has many lists, pictures, and descriptions scripture verse. It talks about the world as Isaiah likely would have perceived it, and clarifies symbols and other items that Isaiah refers to.
As a Latter-day Saint I understand the importance of Isaiah, I just don't understand Isaiah. The Book of Mormon prophet Nephi repeatedly praised the words of Isaiah, as did the Prophet Joseph. Donald Parry has done a remarkable job of subdividing Isaiah's writings into bite-size nuggets that can be savored and digested. Understanding the words of Isaiah is a life-time pursuit, but this book is a great way to gain an appreciation for this amazing poet-prophet, who seemed to see and understand the Savior and his mission in remarkable detail and depth.
