I am biased since I worked on this book! I was a great experience. I thought our chef and stylist would denude Washington, D.C., of all of its butter as they prepared each recipe for photo shoots. That having been said, the recipes hold up well and are very dependable.
I really like the back to the basics of yummy approach this cookbook offers. I've made several recipes and they were all winners, the recipes are also a great launching point for any tinkering you've been wanting to do with a cookie or two.
It’s Cookie Heaven! Here readers will find a variety of recipes for Drop Cookies, Fancy Cookies, Filled Cookies, and Bar Cookies as well as recipes for some special dessert treats.
These recipes are not meant to replicate the cookies readers may have purchased in the mall . . . they are adapted for the home kitchen using ingredients home bakers can easily acquire. [They use ingredients made especially for Mrs. Fields for those cookies.]
The recipes are clear, easy to follow, and are not overly complicated. Each recipe features a picture of the cookie or dessert; many also include a picture illustrating a step or two in the process of creating the cookie.
As with all recipe books, readers will find their own special favorites; there are some recipes here for exceptionally good cookies. Special favorites include the Mocha Chunk Cookies, the Cinnamon Maple Rings, and the Bull’s Eyes.
Each reader/baker will have to decide which cookies are destined to become favorites.
This paperback book is perfect for those who bake only occasionally and for those who bake all the time. Debbi Fields shares her passion for delicious tasting cookie recipes that don't take lots of prep time. As you probably know, Debbi's passion turned into an international business and her stores are everywhere. Now you can enjoy 100 recipes from Fancy Cookies, Drop Cookies Filled Cookies, Bar Cookies, and Special Treats. Every recipe has a color photo and the directions are easy to follow. My family enjoys the cookies!
Hands down the best cookie book ever. I always refer to this when making treats for my family, friends and neighbors. I used to give this out as wedding gifts but since it is out of print it is hard to know the quality of the book purchased. Love this and highly recommend it.
I loved this! I use it all the time. All the different sweets are always a success at any party or get together. Best cookbook for sweets!! So may delicious 😋 recipes 🤤
I have had this book on my kitchen shelf for what seems like forever and am going to send it off to a contest winner on bookcrossing.com. I only tried a few of the recipes (peanut butter cookies and her famous chocolate chip cookies) but found them sub par when compared to other cookbooks and especially when compared to the Mrs. Fields Cookies found in the mall. It couldn't possibly have anything to do with my baking skills ;) I'm thinking Mrs. Fields didn't want to give away all her family secrets but still wanted to sell cookbooks.
Anyway, it's time to let this one go seeing as I haven't cracked it open in at least 8 years.
Have only made a few of these, the original CCC (chocolate chip cookies) being the favorite, of course. Also do try Marbles (melted chocolate swirled in, as opposed to chocolate chips), Bulls-eyes and Gingersnaps.
The main thing I learned from this book is to bake cookies at 325 for almost twice as long and they have a nice soft texture. Don't like crispy cookies.
Chocolate Chip Cookies - 2 stars - nothing special - not worth the calories - utterly lackluster
Marshmallow Clouds --Chocolate cookies with marshmallows in the center. At room temp they're not that exciting, but warm they ooze marshmallow and are delicious! I did have to cut down the flour by a cup or two.
this is a cool cookie book. the cookie stand is not part of the food court. i never really liked mrs. fields cookies though.....they were always dry and they always looked like they should be chewy....
I learned one important cookie baking tip from this book- bake them long and at lower temps than most drop cookie recipes call for. I apply the lower temps and longer times to all of my collected recipes and get a much better cookie each time! A great little cookbook!
I forgot that I own this cookbook,as it's been years since I've used it. The recipe in the cookbook isn't quite like the ones I used to buy at the mall. Of course, I'm not surprised. I should revisit this cookbook, but I find that I can discover great cookie recipes on food blogs these days.
I haven't made every cookie in the book, but I've made many of them and some of the desserts as well. Mrs. Fields' recipes have garnished me rave reviews for almost two decades now.
This book contains a wide range of cookies. Each recipe is ingredient intensive, and has an accompanying photograph of the finished product. It also contains recipes for brownies and cakes.
