Sandy Lender

After her reincarnation from a Kemp's Ridley Sea Turtle to a simple human female, Sandy Lender figured she had to do something that let her stay near the ocean or Gulf waters. Being in a sunny environment keeps the vampires on a tight leash, too. So Sandy lives in SW Florida where she edits a magazine for the day job, edits books for the evening job, and helps with sea turtle conservation on the weekends. She lets the companion parrots and the muse fight for her attention in between it all.

Her first novel from ArcheBooks Publishing, Choices Meant for Gods, was released March 2007. The novels, novellas, short stories, magazine pieces, and poetry have been ongoing ever since! Sandy has garnered a handful of technical writing awards, a handful of creative writing awards, some fancy nominations, and excellent stress-reducing meds over the years...

I actually started this book out, with the intentions of reading it as a standalone. However, as I got through the first handful of pages, I realized that this was going to be a dark, detailed and intricate fantasy read, which I love. That meant I had to give it due diligence and start from the beginning. I was so pleased I did.

Not only was this a great series and book, but this was an epic finale to the story. I thought the series did very well at keeping attention and excitement. It flowed well through each chapter and book. I liked that every details was paid attention to, and that even the smallest things, though they may appear trivial at the time, could turn out to be what linked major events or characters.

I loved the character depth. I am such a huge fan of long, detailed and delicately woven fantasy, especially when the characters grow with the series. They start out with the typical background and level of personality, but over the course of the series you learn enough about the author's characters to consider them friends.

Also, with such a detailed story, comes a world scattered with detail that makes it so realistic that you feel as though you are there with them. You know where they are traveling in their world and can picture areas, in your mind, easily. I love that these sorts of reads and this series in particular are so good at describing the story world that you can easily close your eyes and travel there.

The pace and overall story were good. They had a unique vibe and really punched boundaries in some areas, especially gorgeous fantasy names. I felt as thought the action was given its time in the spotlight and the pace was changed to suit this.

Overall, this was a great read. I wouldn't really recommend starting here, but I highly recommend checking out this story from the beginning.

As legions of deities rise to threaten both the throne and population of Onweald, the battles fan the gates of the dark spirit world, releasing demons of every species to aid the enemy. Emperor Nigel Taiman, however, soon brings Malachi's power to the Arcanan Army's camp, in hopes of tipping the war’s tide in his bride's favor. To restore the geasa that will save the god she's sworn to protect, Amanda Chariss must escape the very Betrayer's grasp and make choices for the good of all – but does she have the will to sacrifice all she holds dear in the process?

The dynamic conclusion of the Choices trilogy, Choices Meant For All is a solid tale that would work equally well as a standalone. Once author Sandy Lender gets going – and that doesn’t take long – she whisks the reader along at breakneck pace through more thrilling battles than the Lord Of The Rings series. Showing her chops as a master crafter of war and adventure, Lender channels Tolkien and Herbert in her own riveting personal take on the perpetual saga of good vs. evil. Rife with action, drama – and quite a few prophetic surprises – Choices Meant For All is a stunning literary treat. Highly recommended.

When their god needed a protector, she chose yes.

About the Book: From the foothills of the Freotho Mountains to the marble halls of Mahriket, factions of deities rise to threaten not only Master Rothahn’s crown, but all Onweald’s people. Dive into the action-packed conclusion of the Choices trilogy to discover how prophecy works with—and against—those who would heed it.

Our Review: In the first two books of Sandy Lender’s Choices trilogy, we found in-depth descriptions and views of Amanda Chariss from other characters. In this most satisfying conclusion, we are treated to Amanda herself, how she thinks and why. It’s a treat to see how Amanda uses what she’s been taught then how she puts those lessons into action in order to protect her charges and the kingdom.

Based on a scale of 1-5, Choices Meant for All, merits a 5.

Five huge stars, but it deserves TEN!
I have been waiting so long for the final installment of this trilogy! I'm both sad it's over and glad at how Sandy Lender wove the ending of this series perfectly into a satisfying conclusion. If you have not read the first two books, you will be able to follow along, but I do highly recommend you read "Choices Meant for Gods" and "Choices Meant for Kings" as well. The story continues with Amanda Chariss in the clutches of not one, but two villians, Jamieson Drake, an evil sorcerer and Julette, the Betrayer, who is evil incarnate. She must find a way to escape and keep her wits about her so she can protect the god who was captured with her. Sandy Lender does a marvelous job of keeping you on the edge of your seat, wondering what will happen next and also provides some great battle scenes and action, along with the romance between Amanda and Nigel Taiman. Oh, Nigel! He will steal your heart! I loved this book and highly recommend you read it and the other books in the trilogy. It is Sandy Lender at her finest! Five huge stars, but I wish it could be TEN!

Five heart-stopping hearts

It's finally time to take a stand and be done with Julette and Drake. Nigel has convinced Chariss that she would be safe from all that hunted her in Arcana, their home was a fortress. After all it was guarded by the highest active god, but once again Chariss was right and Drake has taken her. Fortunately it was after her and Rhone had made preparations for just this thing and gathered forces still faithful to him and had been training those soldiers and moving them towards Drake's army. Now Nigel has to use a level head to get The Master and The Master's Protector out of the Betrayer's hands in one piece as well as destroy them without the use of the geasea that Julette made sure to put in pieces of a prophecy into place so that she and her sorcerers would be the only ones that could wield magic.
The reader is definitely on a wild ride while Lender ties up the story that has been built with the other two books. Each page leaves you yearning for more and there are still surprises and nothing can be predicted until the very last page comes.
