Three witches and their magical cats solve paranormal murder cases in the mystical town of Wonder Falls. From USA TODAY Bestselling Author Harper Lin.
Niles Freudenfur, the town’s fabulously wealthy—but fraudulent—psychic, is found dead in his own home. The police discover he has been killed—with strange stab wounds on his body and mud in his throat. Did Niles die from a spell gone wrong, or was he really killed by someone in town? Before the witches can find out, Aunt Astrid, Niles’s biggest competition in Wonder Falls, becomes the main murder suspect.
But the Greenstone women and their magical cats have bigger things to fear than Aunt Astrid being behind bars. Another murder befalls a local, in the same strange manner, and it’s only a matter of time before whoever—or whatever—the murderer is comes for them too.
The 9th novel in this charming and spooky paranormal mystery series. Read it today.
When a fraudulent psychic is murdered in Wonder Falls, the Greenstone women take it upon themselves to find out why. Tom's mother is in town and Cath finds her very unsettling to say the least and has her questioning her feelings for Tom. Could this be the end of that romance? Great story, highly recommend.
Meet the amazing sex-changing cat! Once again, Peanut Butter is a "she" until Chapter 24 when he reverts to his original "he" then loses his...mojo...to become a "she" again. Lesson: overexposure to magic does funny-not-ha-ha-funny things to your ha-ha.
I love these books. I love the characters, I love that there is very little swooning, no obsession with their looks or their bodies, and although the mysteries aren't difficult to figure out (this one was no different) there are some truly scary supernatural occurrences in every book. And those covers!
I think this is the first book in which we, the reader, never encounter the victim - not even a physical description - which was so well done that I didn't even realize it until I was half way through the book.
As always, it ends on a lead-in (or cliffhanger) to the next book. I'm wondering what will happen to one established character. I hope they aren't just written out. And I'd like to know more about Blake. Is his lack of affect natural or is it just to piss off Cath?
Bottom line: The suspects need to be expanded in future books, her editor/proofreader needs to be just a little more on the ball (but only one misspelling!), but I'll read these until Ms Lin or I drop dead.
Cath and the Greenstone witches are back and involved in cleaning up another mess. This time a competing psychic is dead and there is an estate sale at his house. Curious, the three go to the sale and discover that things were not as straightforward as they thought. Of course the three witches are thrust in the middle of figuring out what happened and what on earth is that "thing" they have witnessed on the property. Spine tingling situations evolve with the witches seeking to rid their town of evil.
As always, the author has infused the story with tension and the unknown, leaving a complex situation that can only be diffused by the three. As the story unravels, Ms Lin skillfully weaves in a visit from Tom's mother and how that changes Cath's thoughts and feelings. There is also working with the police and a spark of a new or renewed relationship. No matter which book you read, they are always filled with mystery, witchcraft and romance as well as some otherworldly being. The author conjures up heart thumping images and exactly the kind of book I like to read around Halloween. I especially enjoyed this story because Treacle (Cathy;s cat) had a more active role in helping his owner investigate.
Best to read in series order for continuity and understanding the various characters.
I have to say these stories are getting scarier. This fraud of a psychic had people believing and doing whatever he wanted. Even bad mouthing Aunt Astrid. He knew she was the real deal. When he is killed things get crazy. How he was killed is the same. The Greenstones have to band together to protect Jake and Blake from whatever or whoever did murder Nile's, because they can't do it if it's supernatural. But in the middle of this mess Tom's mother comes for a visit. She's more than meets the eye and doesn't want Cath around her son. She's not good enough for him. I totally hated her for trying to break them up and using magic against Cath. We know Cath still worries about being accepted for who and what she is. She's awesome until she wonders into danger without the power of three, Bea and Aunt Astrid. Is Tom going to be on the picture now or is Cath and Blake facing danger together going to change their relationship. We will have to wait and see. Overall I love this series. The cats are a great part of the stories also. Treacle sure saves Cath's ass a lot. I voluntarily agreed to review this book. My review is my own honest opinion.
This book had the perfect blend of murder, mystery and mayhem. When one of the local townspeople is found dead it's up to Cath, Bea, Aunt Astrid and their cat familiars to figure out if the cause of death was from natural causes or something more sinister. During their inquiries and sleuthing they find the deceased had been dabbling in Black Arts and had unleashed a demonic creature. Now it's up to them to get rid of the creature and restore the balance in their town. There's also an unexpected and exciting turn in Cath's love life. I really enjoyed this book and found that once I started reading it I couldn't stop.
A phony psychic is murdered - stabbed and his mouth filled with mud - and Aunt Astrid becomes a suspect. Did somebody frame her? When a similar murder occurs, the Greenstone witches - Astrid, her daughter Bea, her niece Cath, and their cats - know it's something occult and they must find out what's going on before the murderer comes after them. Cath's romantic dithering is showing up more, which I find a bit annoying. But I do like both of her "suitors", if that's what they are. Fortunately, the story thrills and the monsters are able to overcome most of the soap opera stuff. I am still enjoying this series - I must be, I've bought nine of them! - and will keep on reading.
Cath, Bea and Aunt Astrid are at it again. When an estate sale stirs up some unfriendly vibes, these lady have to investigate. With Cath having to meet Tom's Mom and something creepy going on how will she be able to work it all out. Rumors and accusations about who the murder could be as everyone on edge. Mystery, romance and as always cuddly cats. Can be read as a stand alone. But, once you meet the Greenstone Withes you will want to read about all of their adventures. I received an advanced readers copy of this book.
An eccentric psychic has passed on unexpectedly and no one can seem to find out what caused his death. When Astrid, Bea and Cath go to the estate sale, they sense something supernatural has occurred. The more they snoop, the weirder and more dangerous it becomes. It doesn't help that Cath is meeting Tom's mother for the first time while Blake is flirting more than ever. It's up to Aunt Astrid, Bea and Cath to solve the mystery before their loved ones become the next victims. Oh, and if you think you know what's going on, chances are that you'll never see this ending coming. Great series!
Wow!! 100+ stars!! This was the best Wonder Cats yet! So glad the cats had more of a role in the story line. I was so involved in this book I read it in one sitting. Just couldn't put it down. The plot was riveting and perfectly brilliant. Truly love this series!! Can't wait for the next one!!!
Cath, Bea, Aunt Astrid, and the cats are once again on the case of paranormal activity in their hometown. When a local psychic of questionable power is found murdered by mud, the group is on the hunt for the cause. This series just keeps getting better and better. I cannot wait for the next book. I received an ARC of this book for the purpose of an unbiased review.
Wow! I enjoyed this book as much as the others. The plot was well devised and characters steady for the most part. I was disappointed in a shift of Tom's character but it is sorta explained. This book deals with a "wanna be" psychic and a repressed/damaged magical being and a revenge demon. I'm ready for the next episode!
Love this series. The characters and the setting are great. The author makes you feel as if you were reading about friends and makes you want to keep coming back to see what is happening in the lives of these friends. I can't wait for the next book!
I love this series. The characters are like close friends or family and you just can't help but want to 'tag along' with them while they go on and try to solve the murders of two people. That and Aunt Astrid is behind bars, that needs to be corrected too. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Oh, how I love these books so the Greenstone women are at it again With their feline companions fighting mud?? and apparently Tom's mother. lol. Very enjoyable read. A review copy of this book was sent to me by the author. All of the above opinions are my own.
Loved it!!! This one had lots about Cath and her relationship(s) and the one in the past IMO. I really like Tom and not Blake but this one may cause me to switch. I get so catch up in the story I feel like I'm there with the characters. Makes me sad when I reach the end of book. Always looking forward to the next in this series.
Another fun instalment in the series, where the mystery is really interesting and I couldn’t wait to find out more. I just wish the Sequence of Ursaken was explained in a way as we are told it’s super dangerous and horrible, but we don’t get any description of it.
The monster was quite scary, but the killer in the end was rather predictable as there were
I think the romance was a bit too heavy on this one. We get too much of Blake being suddenly all nice, and a lot of Cath wondering what her problem is and like, what your problem is??? Tom is so stupid he can’t see that his mom has made all his relationships fail, and really doesn’t get that when three witches are preparing for battle, maybe he shouldn’t expect one of them to give him attentions?
The mother was cartoonishly mean and horrible, and had I been Cath, I would have called him immediately and told him all about her behaviour and if he is ok with that, bye.
Also, it was really laying it thick about Tom's mum worrying cause he's a cop, isn't it like not even close to the most dangerous jobs you could do? I think me working with a deadly pathogen is definitely riskier and yet no one worries that much.
In conclusion, I think this one was not one of my favourites, had it been focused on the mystery and paranormal more, I would have liked it way more. It was still fun and enjoyable though.
