Second Wave Millennials: Tapping the Potential of America's Youth

Rate this book
One of the top reasons Millennials leave jobs is due to poor management. Millennials choose to work for and stay with “employers whose values reflect their own.” They place a higher emphasis on purpose as opposed to growth or profits. The three best ways for companies to provide a sense of long-term loyalty are identifying, understanding, and aligning with their values; supporting millennials’ ambitions and professional development, and instilling a culture of coaching. Additionally, the strongest ways to attract—and keep—the best working millennials include providing a nimble digital platform, and creating company climate that is positive and team-oriented, and authentic leadership. SECOND-WAVE MILLENNIALS •Five ways to craft an ideal workplace for all generations•The seven primary traits of millennials, including sheltered and confident•Four lifestyle themes that make up the core of a millennial’s identity

Warren Wright’s Second Wave Millennials: Tapping the Potential of America's Youth is an easy, practical read for anyone seeking to understand the largest and most educated generation in U.S. history. I picked it up after hearing Wright reference the Strauss-Howe generational theory on a podcast. His conversational writing style makes this often complex framework feel accessible and deeply relevant, especially in today’s workplace.

Wright encourages Boomers and Gen Xers not only to understand Millennials better but also to reflect on their own generational identities. In a moment of rapid change, his message is clear: generations need to collaborate, evolve, and empower Millennials to lead and innovate.

A thoughtful and inspiring read, it delivers both wisdom and hope.
