I enjoyed this story bc the H was so crazy for the h but his actions later sucked. I did not like how he treated the h. Plus, I think the author went too far with how desperate she made the h's struggles. It's ok to make a character face hardships but there is a point where it just becomes OTT. I loved the intimate scenes, this author knows how to write some serious 5 alarm HOT sex scenes. I also loved that Jason was given a real story and not just a throwaway character.
Jasmine was down on her luck and needed a break. This break came in the name Victor Meade. Victor and Jasmine both tried to deny the passion they had for each other. But, in the end that passion won out. They were great for each other and just what they both needed. I loved this book and I'm sure you will love it just as much as I did. THIS IS A MUST READ.
I received ARC for this book. This is a story of two people living lonely lives starving for affection. Both needing a partner to fulfill the loneliness. They found love in a strange way and almost lost it due to deceit. But once everything was out in the open, they both made the right choice. Two families become one. Great story. Character development was on point.
I really wanted to love this story but it had so many typos and grammatical errors, to the point where it took me out the story several times. It was also a little predictable but I have come to expect that from this author. But the typos. . . Editing is critical people!
I purchased this book thinking it was a new release by Eve Vaughn. As I was reading the book I realized I read this same book several years ago through Kindle Unlimited. Very disappointed and mad that I spend $4.99 plus tax on something that I have already read. I enjoyed book the first time I read it. One star for not being truthful.
The concept of the story was good. I like how Jaime struggled to get her daughter back. This really pulled on my heart strings. Sadly, after reading so many stories like this one the story become predictable. Surprisingly, Victor was a believable character for a lawyer. I like that he was not automatically her knight in shining armor. What I don’t like about this book is that it costed 4.99. With all the grammatical error this book should have costed 99 cent. Additionally, the writer made mistakes with characters name like the young son name is Tyler but she said his name was Taylor. Then Victor's name got changed to Black. I wonder where the hell was the editor or the editor is just as bad not to catch these mistakes. Anyway, I liked the story because I got an emotional response even with all the errors.
Victor and Jasmine. Victor behaved like a douchebag but then Jasmine did leave out some vital information that she should have shared with him. Still he let an ex making him lose control of his mind, he ruined something that was already fragile. A good read. Jasmine's life was hard.
i'm just still stuck on all the things victor did and said to jasmine. i admit i suck at forgiving pricks but damn the hero really grated on my nerves the whole time. i have no problems with age gaps (i honestly have a thing for older men-younger women tropes which was why i decided to give this one a go in the first place. i have no problems with employer-employee tropes either.
but there was just something so icky when victor still pursued the 'attraction' between him and the heroine despite the latter telling him no. jasmine did acknowledge mutual feelings but she did speak out about stopping that kind of relationship with him as her employer because right at that moment, her topmost priority is to earn herself enough money to provide a better life for her traumatized daughter...getting enough of the picture i'm trying to virtually paint here?
note that in between all this pursuit of the glorified prick hero in said sexual relationship with jasmine, he had verbally lashed out to her a couple of times too. have i mentioned the heroine's last relationship was from abusive asshole (physically, verbally and sexually abusive ex-husband) who also happened to be the very bane of the heroine's life.
madison is a she-prick and has been hinting in unraveling jasmine's past so it did not surprise me she went and did that. however, inwardly i thought, if victor, just once in his life, calm himself down first and give the decency to hear jasmine out (which the woman most deserved), maybe he can actually redeem himself.
the tragedy. i thought i couldn't dislike him more but there he went and kicked her out without a chance to explain for herself. he just made it that easy for me to hate him, just that easy. for all the help and support jasmine did to patch his relationship with his kids, her utter patience and care for his own kids, for all the time she forgave him for his hurtful words...i knew in that moment this dude is a dead man to me.
then there was jason. /sighs heavily another major cause of my disappointment in this read. oh no, jason himself was far from being a disappointment. of that i promise you all. however, he is that nice dude in romance novels - used as plot device or something. he's got a past - who didnt lmao - but i meant, he's not someone boring and flat. the heroine did forgive him for not being able to share that piece of him with her earlier (which also showed that jasmine understood jason very well and respected him that much. respect - yet another thing victor, for the life of him, couldn't ever possess). alas, no matter how great jason was, jasmine just wasn't in love him. and you know what? jason decided to become the bigger person. he let her go.
sidenote: another unpopular opinion; letting go isn't always the easiest. i hate how letting go, as opposed to holding on, always got this mostly negative connotation. how the person who let go, always got to be the coward or the weak in these situations. sometimes, these people are actually the stronger ones, the ones who have to be the bigger person and admit their own weaknesses/faults rather than insisting the opposite.
Jason was that person. He was in love with jasmine. in fact, he loved and respected her to the point that when he noticed she's happier with victor, he went and gave victor something he didn't deserve - a chance to be with jasmine. i confess beyond that, i just couldn't help but be jaded against the rest of the story.
This book stole my heart and carried me on an emotional ride. I so enjoyed reading it.
Jasmine was so down on her luck and everything kept getting worse until a chance encounter brought her the break she desperately needed. She had been incarcerated and temporarily lost her daughter to Social Services/Foster care. She needed to secure a well paying job and a suitable home in order to regain custody of her beloved daughter. Just when things seemed to be utterly hopeless, she stumbled across a situation that would become her saving grace.
One day after seeing a woman nearly unconscious and fearing for the 2 children in her care, she made a call to their grandmother and that was the break she needed. As a result of her help, she secured a job as the nanny to 2 precocious children of a man that was so emotionally disconnected. The grandmother hired her and knew her story but told her not to worry. Too good to be true? Yep, it was but not before roots had been deeply embedded.ried to bridge the gap but alone she could not fix things.
Victor was a workaholic and determined to provide a stable home for his children after his wife died. But this determination caused him to lose the connection to his children. He agrees to hire Jasmine as the new nanny to his children and that's when things begin to take an upswing. She calls him on the carpet for his lack of time and attention he spends with his children. The snag - their mutual attraction to one another and seemingly inability to keep their hands to themselves. Enter the trick that wants Victor to herself and trouble brews and overflows. The end result is Jasmine is cast away like garbage by Victor without hearing her side. The end result is his children and mother refusing to deal with him unless absolutely necessary and him admitting he needs Jasmine.
To find out how things workout and end up, buy this awesome story and read it for yourself. There were some typos but they did not take away too much from the story. They were distracting enough to prevent me from giving it a 5 star. Well done Eve Vaughn!!
Ok fair warning be prepared and keep tissues near by as you go through these characters past and present. We are given a very unique cast of characters to read about in this emotional story of two individuals Jasmine and Victor who have both gone through different situations that have left them weary of opening up and experiencing any kind of joy or happiness. Jasmine who's at the end of her rope and sees no hope in sight but she's a survivor and just needs a chance, literally stumbles upon two kids that leads to a job opportunity that just may be what she needs. Her only stumbling block is trying to convince the kids father to give her a chance to prove her worth.Victor doesn't think she's qualified to take care of his kids but gives her a trial period since his mother approves as well as his kids. You are for a very entertaining read from the lively cast of characters from the kids to Madeline especially Chelsea and her no filter statements which will definitely have you laughing. It was very great that we got to discover both Jasmine's and Victor's past and see how they handle everything they are going through now in order to survive. I really enjoyed seeing how their like towards each other develops, it was rushed or forced but allowed to happen naturally as the situation deemed it. The turmoils that develops as the story progresses will just pull at your heartstrings, you will need to read this book find out if they survive the fallout. Eve definitely wrote the heck out of this book. I highly recommend it you will not be disappointed!!!
Jasmine Brooks is failing to find a job when a stop in her favorite park will lead her to just that, a job. When a cute, adorable little girl crashes into her life it will lead to a nanny job. Victor Meade is an absentee father who loves his kids but his past has made him not know how to show it. Working all the time he is missing and distancing himself from those he holds most dear.
With the help of his sexy nanny he will see ways to make amends and in the process developing feeling for the African beauty. As the two grow close, his kids grow closer but the nanny is hiding a secret. A child in foster care but the secret isnt the child it is why she is there and when that comes out, the proverbial sh*t will hit the fan.
Gone, his kids are miserable he is miserable. She is now hiding a new secret. This story was fun, steamy, what made me only give it 4 stars was severe typos. I hate that, a better editor or whoever goes of typing errors would have made this a 5 star for me. It takes away when a typo has to make you reread sentences over and over to figure out what it 'should' be.
Jasmine Brooks is a down on her luck single mother struggling to get her life back on track after being recently released from prison. She encounters two children and their inebriated nanny and the meeting changes her life.
Victor Meade is a workaholic widowed attorney who doesn't realize there's more to being a parent than buying his kids things.
Victor is reluctant to hire Jasmine but his mother and his kids root for her from day one. He isn’t expecting his instant attraction to her either. The couple fights and fights this steamy hot attraction until they can’t resist giving in. It was a nice journey watching Victor learn to bond with his children, Jasmine fight to get her daughter back, and this couple come to terms with their fate.
I do enjoy reading interracial black women white men stories. Normally. But this one is iffy. I get the whole hot nanny and hot boss wanting to have hot sex and all. I also get both of them denying their mutual attraction. The reason why its iffy is the irrational way he reacted towards her when the biggotted friend tells him a one sided version of what happened to her and that she was an ex con. What made me smile was the biggot racist idiot got the punch she deserved. I really was waiting for it. I would have been happier if he suffered some more. After what he did to her and how he reacted. I loved the kids and his mother. They were so sweet. So cute. Sigh. I'll settle though. Breathing slowly now.
Jasmine is struggling to rebuild her life and over come a set of circumstances that would have the strongest among us feeling depressed. Victor has hidden himself in his work, until Jasmine enters his world, courtesy of his intuitive mother. I honestly didn't like Victor at first. I was getting frustrated and then Jasmine came through showing some back bone and told him about himself. The kids alternately made me want to cuddle them and introduce them to a swat on the behind. I was completely into the story though. I read it in two sittings. It would have been one, but I had to adult so I couldn't stay up any later the first night.
This story started out so well. I’m glad Jasmine got her HEA and it was sweet story with the children and how progressively they began to love her. Very predictable but sweet. Also spoiler alert i can’t help but to mention how i felt so bad For Jason..i wish he would have been a psycho or it would have turned out different for him so i wouldn’t have felt so bad. I know the heart wants what it wants but he really had her when she was down and the whole part that him and Victor are friends is just weird.
This was a good read. I loved Jasmine and Victor's story. The trials and tribulations that experienced in their separate lives to still have that ability to face their past head on and with stride was amazing. I do wish that Mrs. Vaughn's editor had done a better job editing. I had to re-read sentences more then once to understand what was being said. Otherwise a great read
Lots and lots of errors eyes bye then green then grey missed words. I tell myself in my own manuscripts and writing I to make mistakes however I am responsible for finding them really loved the book still was a really good book but the mistakes could of been less always love a eve vaughn book
Too many typos hurt the presentation. Needs better editing. With better editing and a heroine who uses her book smarts more you’d have a better story to tell. I can understand she’s naive but she had book smarts and even without her Master degree she knew how to research which would have gotten her a decent job even with a criminal record
This book is so heart warming. Why did Eve Vaughn have me in my feelings? I loved it. My emotions went through the wringer. I love when she releases her darker reads but I also love the light-hearted reads. I almost shed a tough tear!
Truly romantic novel with loveable characters and just the right amount of angst to keep the story compelling. The book, however, contained numerous typos and grammatical errors which distracted from the story. Overall though great read and a bit of a departure from Eve’s darker romances (my personal favorites).
Well our choices in life has consequences that we don't even realize. From this story the system is still broken and some people just need a break from a life that disappoints
Great story. There were some parts that were slightly predictable but overall a wonderful tale of love, reinforced strong family relationships, and redemption. Maybe it’s the meanie in me but I wanted something more to happen to Madison......
This is a solid read regarding a second chance at love. Victor hires Jasmine as his nanny. He's attracted to her but he's resisting it not just for his kids sake but because he's been burned in the past. Jasmine is desperate for a good job as the last few years had been rough from her. Separated from someone dear to her, Jasmine's resolve to have a better life is threatened when she finds herself very attracted to her new boss.
The chemistry between Victor & Jasmine is good. Victor's a bit of an idiot at times but he's a decent hero. I like Jasmine a lot. She's tough when she needs to be but she's also willing to lean on those she trusts when things get hard, which is realistic. I like the story too.
My one nitpick is this book had more than a few grammatical, punctuation. and spelling errors than normal. Hopefully the author can find a stronger proofreading team going forward.
I'm a little speechless. There are some grammatical errors also some editing issues going on within the story. There was a time or two that I wanted to put down the book. All in all it is good story just too many errors.
