I was already loving the cast of characters that we've gotten to know in books 1 and 2, and then the author gave us another fun group through the heroine. I love the camaraderie and the way they all band together as family, even if they aren't all by blood.

Evan could have been a boring character if this book was just focused on him and Kenzie. It was the side characters that really brought out the other side of him. His best characteristics was how much he took care of everyone around him. He was loyal, honorable and really sweet. I especially enjoyed how he bonded with Kenzie's little brother.

Kenzie was a bit neurotic. She had a lot of fear after what the last guy did to her and her brother, and that got in the way. Despite that, I liked her. Her friends were awesome! I love crazy, quirky characters like her friends, Lila and Rachel. Even Rachel's boyfriend was a great addition to cast.

The more I read about Smith, the more I love that guy. I can't wait for his book. At least, I'm assuming he will get one. I hope we also get more of Hector and Lila. Actually, I would be pretty darn happy if we got a book on all the side characters.

This book was just all over the place. It’s like the author was trying too hard. She tried to create three “unique” female roles but somehow created UNordinary female, who just refuses to be “normal” yet that also comes across as forced or. “Try hard” attempt.

That was a pity really. Because the H was awesome. Not just to h, but to everyone. Loved his mother, took care of everything for her. LOVED his cousins as brothers and was even the first one to welcome his illegitimate cousin as family and brother. The h’s brother who gave him so much grief with his prank was still recipient of his brotherly AND fatherly love. This is a guy who is NOT a billionaire, rather an accountant (we are related in minds), who’s usually portrayed as “fuddy duddies”, did not have the natural charisma of the CR/HP tycoons, said the wrong thing, made wrong move, wasn’t graceful and sophisticated, cried himself to sleep when the h broke his heart, went for retail therapy and bough cushions and throw rugs, whined and pouted when h came to make up. But a true gentleman and utterly in love with h and respectful at the same time. This was a wonderfully refreshing take.

But the anything other than him in the whole story is SO SO forced. It didn’t flow smoothly and all the funny parts are so over the top that one would question what was the author trying to overcompensate for? As I’m fairly certain the author is a her, so it can’t be an inadequate (as per society’s measure thanks to porn) penis, and it definitely was the plot. Then what? Sadly I had to skim through due to this and never found the answer. *sigh*

I wanted to love this story, I truly did because in the past I have loved this author’s work immensely and while the first book in this series was a bit of a miss for me, the second book was better, this one falls somewhere in the middle. As I read this book, I kept thinking that this author’s normal voice is missing from this series. While the stories are okay, they are lacking the sweetness, the intensity between the hero and heroine, and for the most part the fun that I’ve come to expect.

Kenzie along with her two best friends run a graphic design firm. Kenzie has been her brother’s guardian since her parents died when she was 18 and her brother was 2. They are a team, a package deal and her fiancé left her when she put her brother first, because of that experience she’s been jaded against dating and men in general, not only because she doesn’t want the heartbreak, she’s worried what it will do to Daniel. Then Evan shows up to move her friend and all bets are off, she is instantly attracted and the feeling is mutual.

One thing Evan realizes as he’s filling in as a mover while his cousin recovers from an injury is people can be crazy. When he encounters a teenager who steals his phone, the teenager’s “mom” who is wielding a knife but who grabs his attention in so many ways, and her crazy friends he begins to see that moving people can be entertaining and a bit crazy. Working for an accounting firm for years was stressful, almost as stressful as being a Marine, but he likes working using his body more physically and getting to know the people who work for the company he’s a partner in.

I really loved Evan and his even temperament; he’s a good son, cousin, and friend. I especially loved watching him try and get through his co-worker and suspected cousin Smith’s skin. I enjoyed seeing him fall easily into a big brother/pseudo dad role with Daniel and the mutual respect between them. While it was obvious he was a bit stressed about what was going on with his mom as it all came out, he took it in stride and was more concerned about her happiness than anything. As for his relationship with Kenzie…this is where I had some issues. I felt he went above and beyond and she was always pushing him way because of what happened to her in the past. For a long time she didn’t judge him on his merits and honestly, he was too nice about that; he should have been angry, he should have put his foot down so his passiveness in that area bugged me. I wanted her to be as good to him as he was to her and sadly that didn’t happen until very late in this book which wasn’t enough for me.

I did love how Evan had a relationship with Daniel outside of his relationship with Kenzie, to me that should have shown her even if something were to happen between them he wasn’t going to abandon the bond he had with Daniel, but she didn’t see that.

While I did enjoy the story, I felt it lacked a certain sparkle to make it exceptional. It was a good story, but I needed more time with them truly together, not sneaking around. While there is nothing wrong with this series, it just isn’t memorable like Ms. Harte’s previous series which for me as a reader is disappointing.

This is a relatively laid back romance with plenty of heart and lots of friends and family. It’s the type of story to read when you want something fun, something real, and something with just a tiny bit of angst.

description

Kenzie’s heart was broken by the perfect man. He was everything she wanted and loved. But when he just packed up and left, he not only broke her, he broke her brother as well. Now she’s afraid to trust all the goodness that is Evan. How can she trust that he won’t one day do the same thing?

Evan was an interesting hero. He cried, he laughed, he stumbled when trying to say the right thing, he often made the wrong decision but when he fell in love with Kenzie, he fell all the way. Although he wasn’t an alpha hero, he was so very real.

This is a lengthier book, and a bit slow in parts due to a lack of drama driving the story, but the secondary characters filled the holes and brought a smile to my face repeatedly. The angst is due to the push and pull from first both Kenzie and Evan and then eventually all Kenzie as she struggles with allowing another man into her life and her heart.

description

While the chemistry was definitely present during their first meeting, there were times that it didn’t feel intense enough for me. However, the smexy scenes themselves were hot. The power exchange between this couple fluctuated from one to the other and allowed me to see different sides to each of these characters.

Overall, this was an enjoyable read, written with characters that are realistic and fun.

I enjoyed this installment in the Veteran Movers series. Evan’s story lived up to my expectations and then some. Kenzie and her crew were as funny and crazy as Evan’s, fitting both of their lives together like a puzzle. That opening scene was a hoot! Granted Evan could sometimes come across as too good to be true – and Kenzie edged close to my “she’s fighting the relationship too much” line, but neither circumstances made me groan. Another thing I liked about this story, is Kenzie’s younger brother was a part of the budding romance. I loved how Evan not only fell in love with Kenzie but grew to love her brother too. It was natural and never seemed forced. This is a sexy hot romance full of laughter and warm-fuzzies.

I went into this hoping that it would be better than the other book that I read in the series, well I was wrong! Once again I had the feeling that I needed to read the first book in the series to understand some of the dynamics but at the same time the lack of focus on Evan and Kenzie really threw me out of the story. I never felt connected to either characters and just wanted the story to be over.

HANDLE WITH CARE is book three in the Veteran Movers series and this is Evan and Kenzie’s book. As with most of Harte’s Contemporary series, I found this book to be very lighthearted. There’s quite a lot of banter and joking around, making it very easy to read.

I’ve also come to notice a trend with Harte’s heroes, especially the ones with a military background. She really likes to show off their macho and vulnerable sides in equal measures and I do think this is an attractive quality of her characters. On the flip side, her heroines are also quite outspoken and I wondered how Harte will do if she tried writing the shy wallflower type of character too. As much as I like the back and forth, it would be nice to see a change for something different.

In addition to the romance, there’s quite a lot of emphasis on the dialogue and banter. I’ve come to expect this with Harte’s writing style so it doesn’t bother me as often as it had in the past, but for new readers, I can see why it may become an issue. But if you’re into that kind of thing, she definitely doesn’t hold back.

I think if you’re a fan of Jill Shalvis or maybe even Julie James’ books, then you’ll probably enjoy this series from Harte too.

Evan is lovely - he's sweet, handsome, considerate, and patient with Kenzie, all very fine qualities. The problem is that I was far more intrigued by his secret-no-secret grumpy, rude, taciturn, angry cousin Smith. I was a goner as soon as I read about Smith's tea party with the little girl. Forget perfect Evan, I want the totally imperfect Smith's story now.

Everyone knows that Evan is perfect. Kenzie's friends like him, her little brother Daniel adores him, even his mother's only criticism is that he can be a bit "clingy". But for stressed out, insecure Kenzie, a perfect guy like Evan isn't always the answer when she's trying to raise her little brother and run a business by herself. The problem isn't so much Evan but Kenzie trying to handle her many, many insecurities and doubts about herself and Evan. Lucky for her, Evan is perfect for her other than his weird hatred of tacos. So now can I please have Smith's story?

4 stars for grumpy Smith, 3 stars for perfect Evan, 3 stars for snarky little bro Daniel, 2 stars for whiny Kenzie = 3 stars

I’m enjoying this series now by Marie Harte. I may not have enjoyed the first book, but the last two have won me over, and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. I love how Marie Harte incorporates Military Veterans getting their HEA. I also love how she writes each character and who they fall for in their books. If you are looking for a contemporary romance story that involves military veterans getting their own love stories, then this series is for you.

Handle with Care might center around Evan and Kenzies beginning romance but it also has a strong theme of family and friendship on both sides. This was a fun and lighthearted read about getting back into the dating game after suffering heartache and it involves two of the nicest characters in romancedom. Both Evan and Kenzie will make you go smile and giggle when they both navigate dating again!

I have been waiting for Evan's story and it is my absolute favorite out of the series so far.

Evan is the quiet one of the family. He's the silent partner with his cousins in Vets on the Move! And with his cousin Cash out with a broken limb - he's helping to fill in with some of the moves. This where he finds Kenzie - the woman who took his breath away the minute he sees her.

Evan and Kenzie hit it off from the start. And I loved these two together. But both have some underlying feelings about past relationships that are keeping them from being fully engaged with their relationship.

Daniel, Kenzie's little brother, is a great icebreaker in the storyline and I loved his interaction with Evan. The Bromance is fun and heartwarming.

Kenzie's cast of friends also play a huge part in the story and had me laughing to the point of crying at moments. They were a great add to the storyline too.

Evan melted my heart. Kenzie was cute and vulnerable and the perfect fit for the ever-patient Evan.
My heart definitely was won over by Evan. Each book in the series gets better and better and I can't wait for more in the series!

Evan Griffith finds himself taken by a teenage conman and confronted by a woman wielding a knife – and promptly falls head over heels for her. Kenzie Sykes doesn’t have time for romance, but Evan’s not asking… until he is, and she finds herself saying yes.

This contemporary romance is an emotionally ‘real’ romance with strong, likeable characters that draws readers in and refuses to let go. Evan and Kenzie have lots of chemistry but both characters have a few reservations about romance, Kenzie more than Evan since she is doing her best to raise her teenage brother, keep him out of jail and juggling her career. The relationship is full of emotions and real life events that really speak to the readers while the story also provides quite a few chuckles as Evan tries his best to fit in with Kenzie’s family and friends.

The plot is steady paced and all of the characters just seem to say ‘come on in’ and join us in our life which ensures that readers really want to get to know them all and of course they want to know everything about Kenzie and Evan’s romance. The story is a delightfully charming and heartwarming read that can really get caught up in.

The 3rd book in the Veteran Movers series which this has Evan the cousin as the main character. He meets Kenzie and her friends and ends up falling for her. Their story is built around this and dealing with the fallout from his injury. So this isnt him saving her but more of just finding himself, finding her, family, friends and the chemistry between Evan and Kenzie. It's a sweet story. Low angst story that focuses on family and friends. I can't put my finger on what's missing but there is something missing from the story to give it that added kick. It's a sweet story but it could be better. Ms. Harte's stories are great, this story just needed a boost. The characters and the story is sweet and has lovely feels to them.

Handle With Care is part of a series, and although I read it as a stand alone, I recommend reading the series in order. The story will have more depth of characterization and flow more logically. Still, it's not a bad or great read but kind of middle of the road. I mean, cute couple, witty banter, loveable sidekicks, a few bumps in the road, and viola! I read it fast, and it's light. This one is a good read when you want something delightful that requires little thought. It's an escape for a bit. Overall, average read. This is the third book in the series and yes you do need to read the others to know what is going on because even the book is about Evan and Kenzie we have the second story that continues with Smith, nope if you are not reading I am not telling.. Book was funny and I was happy that Evan got his story he deserved it, I wasn't crazy about Kenzie, I didn't like her I can't even explain it. Yes I was happy that they worked everything out and he got his HEA, and I loved reading the secondary character, but you know one of the things that I enjoyed the most, its that at first I didn't care for Smith, I mean I got his resentment but still he kind of bugged me, but after reading this book I liked him more and I liked that he was accepted more and was able to have some relationship with his fam, but I want more from him..Here me Marie, more Smith please..

•••••••••

REVIEW: 3.75 stars--HANDLE WITH CARE is the third instalment in Marie Harte’s contemporary, adult VETERAN MOVERS erotic, romance series focusing on the men and women who work for Vets on the Go!-a moving company established to help former servicemen. This is thirty-one years olds former Marine and CPA Evan Griffith, and graphic designer Kenzie Sykes’ storyline. HANDLE WITH CARE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary but I recommend reading the series in order as there is an on-going plot line throughout.

Told from several third person perspectives including Evan, Kenzie and Daniel HANDLE WITH CARE follows the building relationship and romance between thirty-one years olds former Marine and CPA Evan Griffith, and graphic designer Kenzie Sykes. Vets on the Go’s latest job found Evan Griffith walking into a ‘fight’ between friends that caught Evan unaware. Meeting thirty-one year old Kenzie Syke’s stirred something deep within our story line hero, something Evan long thought buried and gone. When Kenzie’s younger brother pulled a fast one on Evan Griffith, Evan would take his revenge by asking out our story line heroine. What ensues is the slow building romance between Kenzie and Evan, and the potential fall-out as Kenzie is unable to let go of the past.

Kenzie Sykes has known love and lost when her fiancé walked away without a backward glance. Having raised her younger brother Kenzie’s first priority is Daniel, and a relationship with Evan is about to push all of her boundaries. Evan Griffith also knew love and the grief of losing someone close, and was willing to give love another chance but convincing Kenzie that he was not her ex-fiance meant the whole package including caring for her younger brother as well. A sensitive hero Evan struggles with Kenzie’s up and down, back and forth emotional turmoil.

The relationship between Kenzie and Evan is one of immediate attraction but Evan’s first impression of Kenzie came with mixed emotions believing the woman was all kinds of crazy. Hoping to convince Kenzie to give him a chance Evan begins a slow seduction of our story line heroine, while fast becoming a big brother to Daniel as well. A former soccer star, Evan will take Daniel under his wing in an effort to help Daniel with his love of the game. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and passionate, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and dynamic secondary characters including Cash Griffith and Jordan Fleming (Smooth Moves #2), Reid Griffith and Naomi (The Whole Package #1); Evan’s mother Jane Griffith; Vets on the Go employees-Smith Ramsey, Hector, Lafayette, and Finley; Kenzie’s brother Daniel, and her two besties Lila, Rachel and Will. There is something developing between Lila and Hector-here’s hoping the author brings their relationship to the forefront. The back and forth banter between characters is energetic and fast paced-there is definite camaraderie between family and friends.

HANDLE WITH CARE is a story of family, friendship, betrayal and love; a story of revelations and acceptance. The premise is fast paced, engaging and lively; the romance is seductive; the characters are spirited and fun. HANDLE WITH CARE is an entertaining and inviting addition to Harte’s Veteran Movers.

*** ARC kindly provided in exchange for an honest review ***

I adored Evan and Kenzie’s journey through friendship, family and love. It was sweet and hot, emotional and funny at the same time.

Evan was definitely the guy. Caring, sexy and so damn charming. When he met Kenzie while helping moving out her best friend, Rachel, he wouldn’t have expected to feel this insta connection at first sight, even Kenzie’s crazy bunch of friends haven’t scared him off.

I appreciated reading about a sensitive man who had done so much for his family, who wore his heart on his sleeve. A mix of sexiness and sweetness, I was sold!

Kenzie didn’t have time for relationships, protecting her heart and family, trying to keep her company successful. She had to raise her little brother so young, with the help of her best friends; they were hilarious, straightforward and didn’t have any time to beat around the bush. Pretty lethal combination with men for sure. But still she failed to let her feelings shown and she felt unsecured. A lot. So stubborn to see what was in front of her. To break all the walls she has built.

These two characters who weren’t looking for love would definitely feel how it would be if they let their hearts go. A slow burn romance, a little something in the air that made their story so special, like you could feel the sparks. I was smiling all along, rooting for Evan to get the girl and all the package that coming with her. His relation with Kenzie’s little bro made me melt, giving him strength back and confidence that à teenagers needed. Taking him under his wing without ulterior motives.

The interaction between all the characters felt so natural and effortless, creating this big family from different horizons, who stood by when it was hard, knew how to push forward when needed.

I adored how Evan and Kenzie accepted the other entirely, listening to the other and supportive. It took some time to get to this point but I liked it.

This book would be a winner to me if Kenzie’s issues weren’t a bit repetitive. I felt like it was going in circles at times. Especially towards the ending, when I wanted some confrontation.

The Veteran movers series keeps growing on me and it gets better on each book.

Handle With Care by Marie Harte
Veteran Movers #3

A company that employs military veterans who move people sounds like a wonderful team to join when one leaves for civilian life. A team to work with and that will support you. That is what was created with Vets on the Go – a business Evan Griffith is a partner in with other family members.

When on a job he is warned about a woman that is “crazy” by a teen in the neighborhood...and shortly thereafter he sees her entangled in a trio of women crying and carrying on and then a BIT later...wielding a knife. What is he to think? And...when his phone rings he wonders who changed the ringtone?

The woman with the knife is Kenzie Sykes and the teen with the warning her much younger brother. The women in the frenzy were roommates and long time friends. Add into this mix the men that Evan moves with, a few teenagers and people they both encounter through work and there is a lot that can happen. Both seem to have backstories that make it difficult to trust and that doesn’t help either.

As I began reading I thought, “Not a book for me.” A few pages later I was a bit more into the story but still felt the topic perhaps not my favorite. By the end of the book I felt it was a solid story in what is a series of easy to read contemporary romances that are...not for me. That said, I do see this appealing to readers who want to have a HEA with a feel-good element and not much challenge for the male and female lead.

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks for the ARC – This is my honest review.

This is a sweet, sexy and often funny story about a graphic designer and the sexy man who helps her friend move house. While they both feel an immediate attraction, Kenzie has been burned too many times before and Evan has to show her that he’s worth taking a risk on.

The relationship that stops and starts between Kenzie and Evan is entertaining. Kenzie’s little brother brings charm and humour to the story. Kenzie’s friends are smart and funny - and I loved them.

My only reservations about the book lie with the two main characters. I understand why Kenzie is skittish about relationships, but the girl has serious baggage and her neurosis were a little bit much for me after a while. I loved everything about Kenzie in the rest of her life - her friends are wonderful, she’s great with her brother, she’s a fantastic business woman - but she’s infuriating when it comes to men. Her character is realistic but I didn’t love the angst and meltdowns.

Evan is also a little bit infuriating because he is perfect. Kind, patient, thoughtful, successful - he’s a fantasy boyfriend from central casting. I’m not sure I’m even allowed to be irritated by perfection but my favourite men have a little edge, a few quirks and they mess up some times.

Overall, this is a fun, easy read full of likeable characters and family drama. It’s the third book in a series but I read it as a stand alone without any problems. It’s a well paced read and I liked the writing style.

The third book in the series of the Veteran Movers and this one has Evan the cousin working since Cash was hurt in the last book. He meets Kenzie Sykes and her friends which one of them is moving. He also meets Kenzie brother which he does not know at first who takes his phone and then before giving it back changes ring tone and something else but that for you to find out. Really there is a lot to like about this book if you have read the other ones, if not this is a fun book. Kenzie friends really make this story move along. Also her brother Daniel has some interaction with Rafi who is Jordan’s brother from book number two, which was a nice touch. Here you have Evan trying to work things out with grumpy Smith and you find out a little more about him. You also have Evan dealing with his mother dating and being introduced to the man. Also for himself to take the chance with Kenzie and her with him. Both of them need to get past old, failed relationships that are explained. Overall I really liked this story and the beginning with all of the action reminded me of the first one with all of the action. Here though you are introduced to Kenzie friends and they are part of the story and they are funny and really add to the book. Very much worth the read. This one was cute. I liked how awkward both Evan and Kenzie were about their attraction at first. It was like they were teenagers first discovering the other sex. Sure they both had good reasons to be skittish, it made for good reading. I liked how both went to their friends and family to for advice on how to maneuver through the budding relationship. Daniel added an interesting dimension to things. I really liked that Evan knew they would be a set and made an effort to win over Daniel as well and didn’t patronize him, but more dealt with him like a friend, one who had an important place in Kenzie’s life.

The ending to this one was perfect for this couple and their motley crew of family and friends.

*ARC provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*
Handle with Care (Veteran Movers #3) is an fun, steamy and thoroughly enjoyable read. Unfortunately I didn't realize that it was part of a series by author Marie Harte and found it a bit confusing at times keeping track of all the characters. I'll definitely be adding The Whole Package (#1) and Smooth Movers (#2) to my TBR list.

I just couldn’t get into this one. I have read the author in the past and enjoyed her, however this is part of a series and from the beginning I was confused. Thank you to netgalley for the ARC.

Very big cast of characters, and we don’t see all of them enough to get a good grip on who’s who, but it’s fun.

Certain plot points repeating for every couple in the series is getting old, though.

The best parts of this story for me involve side characters for the most part.

Evan and Kenzie as a couple work but they take the long route to an HEA for sure.

When book four becomes available to borrow will be glad to read it as some of the plot points from first three really need resolving for me.

Thanks for letting me review this book, but it wasn't for me.
I could get into it at all. The back and forth made my head spin.
I gave up early in the book.

Out of the three books in the series, so far, this third book was my favorite. Handle with Care was amusing, quirky, sexy, and emotional, and contained charming characters, an engaging storyline, and a heartfelt romance. This book is not so much about an alpha hero saving a damsel in distress but rather a book full of friends, family, healing, and love with characters that are down-to-earth and relatable and a believable, realistic storyline.

Evan has his hands full at the moving company he co-owns with his two cousins, Reid and Cash, as he fills in for one while out injured, along with trying to start his accounting business and taking care of his ailing mother. Romance was the last thing on his mind and definitely not what he was looking for when his moving assignment took him to Kenzie’s doorstep. Knocked head over heels, he gets more than he bargained for with Kenzie, her younger brother and their quirky set of friends. His eyes and heart are opened to new possibilities of family, friends, and love.

Kenzie was a crazy mess! Her parents passed away when she was finishing high school, leaving her with the responsibility of raising her baby brother. She did the best she could to build a life for them, starting her own graphic design business and working from home so she would always be available to Daniel when he needed her. Her previous relationship ended abruptly when her fiancée left without warning or reason so she and Daniel are still reeling emotionally and she is heartbroken, skeptical, unsure of herself, and gun shy regarding new relationships. However, there is something about Evan that urges her to throw caution to the wind. But he seems too good to be true and can she really open herself, and Daniel, up to that kind of heartache again? With her crazy group of friends as back-up, what could possibly go wrong?

I loved Evan and Kenzie as a couple and enjoyed their developing relationship and Evan’s interaction with Daniel. Aside from being with her, Evan had a separate bond with Daniel, letting him know he mattered and he was there for him and I enjoyed seeing Daniel mature through that brotherly connection. I also loved the prank that Daniel played on Evan with his phone – completely hilarious!

Since Evan was not really an ‘alpha-type’ hero in the story, I did scrunch my nose at a few of his clingy moments, but that really just helped his character become more real. He was just a guy who was devoted to his family, loyal to his friends, and all-around nice and helpful. I struggled a bit more with Kenzie’s character. Though overall, I did like her, she grew on me more as the story progressed, but she was a bit whinier and indecisive where Evan was concerned and in certain situations, that bugged me. However, Harte adding her quirky friends into the mix helped me enjoy her character more.

Harte also gives the reader a bit more insight into Smith’s character and I was really intrigued by him. There was a huge awe moment with him and a little girl that lets you glimpse an entirely different side of him than the gruff, spiteful, bad-tempered guy he portrays himself as. I enjoyed his interactions with Evan and was glad to see that Evan stepped up to the plate and just put the truth out there to him that everyone has been dancing around from previous books. I am looking forward to Smith’s story to see how all the family drama concludes.

Overall, this book was a fun addition to the series.
