Jane Chapman loves working in the kitchen of a fancy Boston hotel. But when she suddenly loses her position and can't find another, her situation becomes dire. She's not eager to marry, but many of her friends have already gone to Bozeman, Montana as mail-order brides and have found love. So, when she's matched with a handsome and wealthy stranger, she's hopeful--until she meets him at the train station and his cold dark eyes send a fearful chill down her spine. Meanwhile, her friend Maeve, and her brother-in-law, Charlie Donovan, are headed for the train as well, hoping to get there in time to save Jane from making a terrible mistake.
. In this fourth volume entitled Jane, the reader is presented with a clean and wholesome story. Although there were some grammatical errors, there were also some era anomalies. One question was what happened to the trunk Jane's future husband carried from the train? After she marries, her husband carries in two big bags (which matches a different installment). Other reviewers have already depicted most, if not all in detail already.
The reader is introduced to Jane, a trained baker, and assistant chef. After the head chef's wife fired her on the grounds she flirted with her husband, Jane was appalled, since of course, it had never occurred. The woman had systematically fired all women she considered prettier than her on a habitual basis, in order to avoid any temptation for her husbands' attention.
Jane searched diligently and was unable to find another position in Boston. She had been frugal and saved a good-sized nest egg. However, when she reached under the bed to withdraw some cash, she discovered one of the boarders had apparently stolen all her cash, her mother's wedding ring, and other personal items. Without the means to support herself, she agreed to become a mail-order bride. Would she be able to find a loving husband, as the rest of her friends had? And would he also be a Donovan?
"All is as it's meant to be," Naomi said wisely.

This book is able to stand on its own, but it appears that each book will work off the previous installments and so it is recommended that you read them in order to enjoy the full effect of the journey these people took on their paths to a H.E.A.

Jane (Mail-Order Brides Club Book 9) . . . Kindle Edition by Ashley Merrick (Author) Print Length: 166 pages ...
Jane is one of the last friends from the orphanage left in Boston. She loses her job as a cook at a nice restaurant and with no other options, decides to be a mail order bride. She goes through an agency instead of contacting her friends in Bozeman. Unfortunately, the man she's paired up with is evil. Thankfully, she writes the girls ahead of time and gave the man's name. The family is shocked and wants to protect her from certain doom, so Charlie agrees to help pick her up and hopefully save her.
Charlie wasn't looking to have a bride, but is taken with Jane's beauty. I liked his character, although he wasn't too attentive to her at first. As the evil man, John, kept making innuendos to her, Charlie became very protective.
This is a sweet romance with some suspenseful moments,..
A young woman from Boston finds herself out of her job when the kitchen manager in the hotel where she works decides she is flirting with the chef who is the kitchen manager's husband. She then lost her savings to theft. Feeling desperate, she decides to accept an offer she received to become a mail order bride.
Don't read this book on an empty stomach! So Much Food! But that isn't the only deliciousness in this story... Charlie is a darling and matches perfectly with Jane. She loves to cook/bake and he loves to eat! 💙
I truly enjoy these books. They are really well written, and "take you there" as you read them. I like how they are clean and inspiring, in the way people use their passion to benefit others as well as themselves. Nice close family bonds too.
This series of stories are well written and hold you interest from page one until the end. Jane was repelled by the man who sent her a train ticket so we would come West to marry him. She turned him down and married another
