This book was really good, and it kept me hooked from beginning to end. The grammar was great, and I loved that the author showed the process of her getting better, though I did feel that the ending was kind of abrupt.
My Beast by Taylor Jade is a mystery/thriller with a bit of romance. This book revolves around Zooey who experiences random blackouts when she goes to sleep and many times wakes up covered in another’s blood. Zooey tries to maintain a handle on things while hiding her blackouts from her detective boyfriend but cannot do so as she slowly loses her grasp on reality, endangering those around her and risking losing them from her life.
This book does not fall into the genre I typically read, but I really enjoyed it. This book was beautifully written, almost poetic, well-developed, and it captivated me from the first page. The author kept my attention from the prologue and it hooked me until the very end. The build-up of mystery was great. I truly enjoyed how the author gave insight into one case of Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) while also showing realistic feelings of someone experiencing these mental health issues and the reactions of those around them. I was slightly confused at some parts, but that didn’t deter me from reading because it added to the suspense and intrigue of this book. This book combined mystery/thriller, romance, and discussed mental health in a way that doesn’t demean those that may have had these experiences. I enjoyed reading this book and am looking forward to reading more by this author and exploring books in the mystery/thriller genre!
TAYLOR JADE DID THAT! Definitely not what I’m use to reading. I’m not really not use to reading thrillers BUT MANNNN DID SHE CHANGE THAT!! Zooey was an interesting character. All the blackouts had me like 🤔🤔. But it wasn’t just thriller, nooooo it was romantic as well. Your killing me smalls lol. Miss Jade has earned herself a new fan
Not usually the type of book I read but this book had me hooked by the description. I had to find out what happens to Zooey when she can’t remember. The twists and turns kept me reading!
Wow!! This was one crazy ride!! Zooey who the book centres around experiences blackouts and wakes covered in blood. Her siblings are all supportive and her boyfriend is amazing...but a policeman. This read is certainly a dive down the rabbit hole!!
This book is definitely not one of the normal books I read, but Taylor Jade did an AMAZING job at combining a mental health issue, mystery/thriller, and romance into one book. She didn't overdo any of the elements, making them the perfect blend to keep the reader hooked throughout the entire book without overwhelming them.
I absolutely LOVE this book. Highly recommended. 5 stars.
Taylor Jade is definitely QUICKLY becoming one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE authors.
