An Elysium Warrior's sexual pull is legendary, used to entice willing females to their beds. Too bad Kyllell's pull doesn't work on his bond mate.
When oceanographer, Ada Charles, is sent to study strange seismic activity off the coast of Northern California, she expects the expedition to be routine. Getting transported to an entirely different planet is not a scenario she thought even remotely possible. Neither is being attacked by lethal aliens and separated from her crew.
When a sex-on-a-stick alien abducts her and claims her as his mate, Ada's not about to submit to this alien alpha male. No way in hell is she going to become an alien warrior wife to someone capable of breaking her heart just as thoroughly as her ex-boyfriend did.
Her plans involve saving her crew and returning to Earth before the warring Chassaks capture and sell her to the highest bidder. Unfortunately, she has absolutely no idea how to do that. Now she must convince Kyllell to join her rescue mission while resisting that sexy devil of an alien’s pull, but he’s not interested in helping her find her crew or her way home.
An erotic interlude might be the only bargaining chip she has.
Kyllell has been living in exile-without female companionship-for four long years. When he saves Ada from a Chassak attack, he knows she is his true bond mate, and he is ready for Ada to willingly welcome him into her loving arms.
But his mate is not so willing or so loving. Defiant and willful, Ada challenges him in every way imaginable...
...and he craves her all the more for it.
When an enemy from Kyllell's past threatens their tenuous relationship, he must find a way to protect himself and Ada from the corruption of the Elysium Council or risk being thrust into exile again and losing Ada forever.
Can he save those he loves, or is history doomed to repeat itself?
The Warriors of Elysius Series contains standalone romance books with no cliffhangers, no cheating, and a guaranteed HEA. If you love alien abduction romance series, fated mates romances, dark warriors, feisty females, and hot, steamy love scenes, then this sci-fi alien mates romance novel was written especially for you.
Steam alert: contains a hot alien alpha male who dominates in the bedroom and a curvy, strong-willed human female who refuses to submit. Strong sexual themes/language is present. Perfect for fans of Ruby Dixon, Cara Bristol, and Evangeline Anderson. This is recommended for mature audiences only. Full-length 90,000+ word Sci-Fi Romance novel.
First issue, the title. You'd think with this title we'd get an interesting, morally grey character, or at least someone who has done some wrongs in the past. Nope, he was 'betrayed' and is just a normal, honorable warrior. Boring. The 'devil' thing is just her pet name for him.
Kyllell- This guy does not stop whining about being exiled. Seriously, the word 'exile' was in every other sentence when it was from his POV. Aside from that, he was the most interesting character in the book.
Ava- What is with these super-strong heroines with zero flaws nowadays? It doesn't make them interesting, it makes them annoying. There's nothing about her that stands out. She whines a lot about her ex, which doesn't seem to go with her perfectly independent, assertive character. The men of Elysium have some sort of 'pull' they use on females, than makes the females want them. Apparently Ava is the only female that isn't affected by it, supposedly because she's so strong and independent. Cue eye roll.
The glossary was very helpful for someone who wasn't familiar with the author's world, and was appreciated. The book was also well edited, with only a handful of typos.
Some people may find this book cute, but it barely qualifies to be called a 'romance' novel... and with the 1.5 intimate scenes, certainly doesn't qualify as erotic romance.

The writing is vivid and fast-paced, especially in the action scenes. The premise—a submarine crew investigating seismic activity only to be transported to an alien planet—is bold and intriguing. It sets the stage for high-stakes survival and romance, and the pacing keeps things moving.
Ada, the protagonist, starts off grounded and relatable, but her personality shifts quickly once she’s on the alien planet. Her transformation into a hyper-defensive, combative lead felt abrupt, and some of her decisions were hard to follow. Kyllell, the alien love interest, is intense and possessive. Their dynamic hinges on the “fated mate” trope, which brings heat but also raises questions about emotional balance and consent. The romance is steamy, but the emotional development between them can feel rushed and uneven.
The worldbuilding is ambitious but chaotic. There’s a lot of lore—alien species, political factions, cultural rules—and it’s not always easy to follow. The story blends sci-fi, fantasy, and romance in a way that’s bold but occasionally messy. Some readers will love the scale and intensity, while others might feel overwhelmed or disoriented.
Other positives: strong pacing, vivid descriptions, and a unique setting. Negatives: inconsistent character development, a romance that leans more physical than emotional, and a world that sometimes feels more chaotic than immersive.
Overall, the book was okay. It’s a fast, steamy read with a unique premise, but it doesn’t fully stick the landing. I won’t be continuing the series, but I can see the appeal for readers who love dominant alien mates and high-stakes sci-fi romance.
Great for fans of alien abduction romance, fated mates, and steamy sci-fi with bold worldbuilding. If you prefer grounded characters or emotionally balanced relationships, this one might not be for you.
**I received a copy of Devil in Exile from Net Galley and the author in exchange for a voluntary and honest review. All opinions are my own and not solicited**
Devil in Exile by Angelina Avery (AKA Fiona Jayde) is the first book in her Warriors of Elysius series. I have to say it's very good totally worth all five stars. If you like Alpha Alien's who love their mates and take care of them plus a equally Alpha female who didn't hesitate to take on porcupine/snake type slave traders then you'll love this book as much as I did. So when is Tarian's and does Thomasina's and Shale get their own book I'll try to be patient..maybe?
Dr. Ava Charles and her sub pod crew are on a Oceanography exhibition and don't realize their vessel has gone through a time portal ending up on Draioch and will soon have to fight off Chassak Traders. Of course they have no clue as to how they ended up there but I can tell you that neither Ava or Thomasina are shrinking violets. Luckily Kyllell happens to be nearby and he senses that Ava is compatible and his mate he won't hesitate to rescue her if she'll let him. He'll nurse her through the Chassak quill poisoning and trying to convince her that they're mates, rescue her friend and return to his home but not without fighting off bad guys, traitor friends and injuries. Will he convince her to stay and not return home to Earth?
I highly recommend this book if you like Sci-Fi romance
I liked the robust world-building and character development of this story. I think I liked the adventure part of this story the most. Ava, an oceanic researcher and captain of her own submarine, is sucked into a wormhole found in the ocean along with her tiny crew of researchers. They end up in an unknown planet, where some die and others are thrust into their own survival adventures.
Ava's fate gets tied to Kyllell's, a yummy alien outcast from another world, who declares her his mate. I really enjoyed their adventures. Once they find their way back to his people, I also found the political intrigue complex and entertaining.
The romance part of it was OK. Ava kept trying to distance herself from Kyllell because she did not want her heart broken even though he kept telling her she was his fated mate. She apparently didn't understand what that meant. (Guess she never read a sci-fi romance novel.) This went on for most of the story. They finally got on the same page and got to that HEA. It was sweet.
This is a good start to a new series. The overall story-line is very creative and interesting. There are several interesting loose threads to explore in future stories.

This is a new author to me and I have to say I really enjoyed it. The start was totally not what I was expecting and I thought that I had possibly picked up the wrong genre. Check the cover, definitley aliens, go back to reading and get drawn in. Please excuse me not giving away too many details but I want you to be able to be surprised as I was.. Ada is a marine scientist. She and her crew are being sent to investigate opening fissures in a little know trench. As they are preparing to launch when a storm hits and it all goes to pot. Ada gets hurt and ends up overboard. Sheis saved by Kyllell who is like no man she has ever seen before. Not little suspicious when she wakes warm and curled up using a green bicep bigged than her arm as a pillow! Hold on there skippy! Kyllell is been exiled and alone for a long time. Enduring a phenomenon for his species called the Burning. Strangely this suddenly ceases when he meets Ada. What could that possibly mean? Except Ada is not prepared to wait around she wants to save her crew. This is was great read and I'm so happy that I came it at the start of a possible series. Cannot wait for more!
Ada is force all her own..a captain who has sealed her heart off from love but her responsibility of others in its place. Kyllell has been exiled for no reason than being noble. Kyllell sees Ada and has found his mate..the one that by the Goddess has fated to him. The problem is he has to get pass her pain, and her in charge facade to love her so she feels it.
Ada and Kyllell not only forge a strong relationship, but they both learn their strengths and weaknesses, which complement each other, and the only way to defeat anything is to give and take while playing to the strengths. Sometimes, you have to give up control to get control.
I love the story, and the characters are different and interesting...i will say that it is more detailed than I like. This is not a quick read. It will take a few days to get through due to the details and the repetitious inner dialogue.
I will say that the premise has captured my attention and will read more in the series. I just have to remember that reading the story will take more than two days to get through.

Ada is a smart woman in charge. She is tough and sassy. She was leading a exploration in the newly discovered Nadir Deep Trench. A storm approached and one of her crew members died. Suddenly the submarine was being thrown around and they emerged in a new world. They were boarded by alien creatures with quills. She was attacked and fell into the water. Kyllell is a warrior banished from his home planet of Elysius. He has avoided the Chassaks on Draioch. He sees the metal ship appear and two female looking beings come out of the top. All of the sudden his horns turns black. One of them is is bond mate. When one returns inside he knows which one is his mate. Then the Chassak approach and attack his mate. He rescues her from the water and saves her life. He puts a translator behind her ear so they can communicate. Ada is not afraid to put her rescuer in his place. She will not be told what to do. Plus she was strong enough to resist his mind pull. Lots of adventures but has HEA. . I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Ada, the female human lead, has been drawn through an under ocean portal to another planet with her submarine and crew. Attempting to escape a marauding alien race, she is rescued by a different alien, Kyllell, the male lead. He has sensed she is his mate but she’s unconvinced and unwilling to be swayed by his literal sexual pheromone pull. He works to convince her whilst she aims to rescue her crew mate. Then his past comes back to visit…
This long story is dual POV, well written, and the first I’ve read from this author that I’m aware of (her bio notes she writes under different names in other genres). I enjoyed the character development, the personal strength of both Ada and her female crew mate, the relationship development, the sex scenes, and the secondary characters who will hopefully have their own stories later!

There was a lot going on in this book. Maybe too much that made it seem to over the top for me. There was a lot of conflicting things going on too. The main characters were alright, I didn’t hate them, but wasn’t crazy about them either. The story flowed pretty good until the last few chapters. Those just felt rushed & incomplete to me. The last sex scene just felt off, not really a way of showing her how much he loves her. The anal sex at that point just killed the love vibe for the couple in my mind. (I wish authors would quit with this anal sex thing) The alien’s horns changing up shape was also distracting. I don’t think of “horns” as flexible, but for them to curl up or point straight out or straight up with his mood was hard to read about. The color change was ok though. Not sure I would read more of this series.
I really enjoyed the concept of the story and the way it played out between Ada and Kyllell. Loved the exiled angle and the way the two met, the way Kyllell protected her despite his need to stay in hiding. That said, I wanted to shake Ada when she simply slips into "acceptance" of the whole idea of being on an alien planet and captured by one, like it was perfectly normal. She didn't feel the whole "bond mate" thing, although she was lusting after Kyllell. Honestly, that wouldn't have bothered me if Kyllell was more "human" in his appearance. I kept being drawn out of the story when she grabbed his horns, etc. Although, on the flip side, the way he treated her and protected her was distinctly human-like so it balanced out. An interesting story.
This is the first book in the Warriors of Elysius series and what a great start! Oceanographer, Ada Charles, is sent to study strange seismic activity off the coast of Northern California, but finds herself and her crew getting transported to an entirely different planet. When they are attacked, Kyllell comes to the rescue and discovers Ada is his true mate. He agrees to help her find and rescue her crew and return them to Earth. The book has sizzle, action, drama, adventure, steam, twists, and more. I can't wait for more from these warriors. With these books available on Kindle Unlimited, the whole series will be available to read with your subscription.
I receive an ARC from Booksprout and this is my honest review.
Interesting story, good character development, feisty heroine who doesn't need saving but gets saved (and loved) anyway, and if course a sexy alpha alien who does the loving (and saving). A sexy alpha alien that actually appreciates and respects his warrior female! Of course hot 🔥bedroom scenes, too. There are a few typos, but they are easily ignored in favor of the story.
This is a great story with a HEA. If there was a space program to bring brides to this planet I would be the first to sign up. Ada and her crew are on an expedition and are sucked up into some kind of a wormhole. Just as they are attacked by aliens Ada is saved by an another alien. The story goes on to tell how Ada fights her attraction to the alien claiming her. Read the book for the rest of the story. You won’t be disappointed.
This book had more twists and turns than a corn maze! And my goodness, I revelled I'm reading each and every one of them! This was definitely an involved reading, with emotions getting pulled in as I read. And fair warning, don't start reading the last 20% of the book if you don't have time to finish it, because you will not be stopping until it's done! Loved the characters and cannot wait to read the next book!
Thank you netgalley and the author for an advance copy in exchange for an honest opinion.
A fun light hearted intergalactic erotic romance. Easy to read, a good story and sex scenes woven in with a real developing relationship between the characters. Unusually a strong female lead who despite being rescued initially proves to be an equal in the relationship. A nice distraction from reality read and look forward to reading the rest ofvthecseries
I loved this book. It's the first book I've read by this author. Well written and well paced. It started with the action and hooked my attention from the start. Great world building. Wonderful characters. I loved Kyllell from his first chapter. I thought he was sweet and found him fascinating. Ada is smart and strong. I really liked her, too, and thought she and Kyllell made a perfect match. I can't wait to read the next book in this series. 5 stars.
I bought this fantastic alien sci-fi romance nearly 4 years ago it’s amazing that I still have so many books that I haven’t read yet but I will get through them eventually, anyway this is Ada’s and Kyllell’s story. There’s plenty of action, adventure, suspense, danger, twists and turns, drama, passion and so much more to keep you entertained and turning the pages, sorry guys no spoilers so read the blurb and that gives you quite a bit of this story and I highly recommend this book.
This was an exciting romance full of political intrigue and hot sexy times. Kyllel is living in exile when a human female crash lands on the planet. Ana is stunned to be rescued by this unknown alien but he sure is hot. Just as they are acknowledging how they feel about each other, rescue arrives, sort of. The couple go through a lot to get their HEA but it was a good read and entertaining story.
Ava is a human scientist who gets transported to an alien world. Kyllell is an exiled warrior from a race that lost all females to a terrible disease. Once they meet, he immediately senses she is his mate. Can the fierce, independent woman give her heart to someone new after being heartbroken in the past? This story is touching, exciting, and had great build up and steam. I look forward to the next book.

OK, I can see how someone would thing that Kyllell is a devil. The one thing that says he is not is his color, it's green. His horns and size are a good hint. A lot of action, excitement and danger. One adventure after another. Good story and I look forward to the next book. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a honest review.
I have enjoyed this story, and I will be looking for more of them as i could not put it down until I finished it, if you love alien's then just read this story and you will be transported to another place in space. I would like to wish you all the best in your chosen field and may fortune smile on you always.
This is the first book I've read by this author. I really enjoyed how it starts out. Ada is a stubborn character with some serious issues, yet she's not afraid to state her opinion. Kyllell likes how fierce she is, but trying to understand human females gives him some trouble! A good read.
This story hooked me right away with its immediate action. I loved how determined both of the characters were and that they BOTH eventually realized they both wanted to be together. And obviously there is much more of the story to be told, I look forward to future books in this series.
Well-written and captivating! Could put it down. Imaginative, humorous, erotic, and surprising, when least expected! Romantically realistic. There is not instant love for most humans, so why would it be different when alien humanoids are involved. I enjoy fantasy and imagination mixed with reality to some extent. Recommended!
I enjoyed the character of the no nonsense Captain, Ada Charles, ready to kick some alien butt. After she is rescued by an Elyslum Warrior, Kyllell, a passionate connection starts to develop. Danger follows them as they start to work together in this adventurous romance. Interesting well written storyline. Looking forward to the next book in this series.
I really enjoyed this series opener and found it quite entertaining. The idea of the rifts was cool, the world building clear and the characters were well developed. Expect fab chemistry between Ada and Kyllell as they work towards an HEA...even if she resisted for much of the story ;P Dealing with so much adventure, strong characters and bad guys made this a fun reading adventure.
Book one I enjoyed Devil in Exile. I have a couple questions that were unanswered but I can not put them in my review without spoilers . Maybe they will be answered in the next book.
Kyllel and Ada are both stranded I a planet with evil aliens that make slaves of other planet's brings and murdered all females on Kyllel's planet with a biological weapon. A nice alien romance story.
