Can I Kiss You Every Day was so bad… But… I couldn’t stop reading.

Basically, what happens is this guy from the main character’s past transfers into her school and starts sexually harassing her. Hey! Put down your pitchforks! It’s totes all okay because he’s hella hot, and we all know that hot dudes can do no wrong.
Guide to life:
Step 1: Be attractive.
Step 2: Don’t be unattractive.
Step 3: ...
Step 4: Profit.

I’m kidding… Kind of. I mean, that is literally why it’s “okay” in this case. To elaborate, the childhood friend has apparently always had a crush on the MC, so when they reunite he just has to go in for a good ol’ surprise non-consensual kiss. The main character is like “Yo dude wtf” but continues to be friendly with him afterwards because, you know, he’s hot, and she didn’t totally mind it. As you can tell from the title of this series, each chapter is another day that eventually leads to another kiss, as far as the four chapters in this volume were concerned at least. Except the title is a lot more consensual than the guy ever was.

This is no beef towards the MC, by the way. I can totally see how this is a really appealing scenario: An attractive guy suddenly coming into your life and being super forward and open about his affection towards you, and giving you lots of attention and yada yada. This is 100% guilty pleasure reading material, and honestly I bet the reason I couldn’t stop reading is because despite the creepiness if applied to real life, when reading it here in manga-form it’s a little addicting.

So I guess that's a bit of why I enjoyed this volume, but the main reason I enjoyed it was because it's actually decently funny??? We've actually got ourselves what seems to be no mere romantic romp, but a romantic comedy. If you know me at all, you know I like me my romantic comedy manga—that is, I thoroughly enjoy laughing my ass off and don't mind one bit if the laughs are interspersed with character relationship exploration. This one got me chuckling, and you can't go wrong with a good chuckle.

The only discussion I’ve read about this series is a single comment saying how they think this series might become predictable—and that might very well be true—but since I don’t ever read this type of shoujo trash, I’m not familiar with all the tropes and whatnot. I feel like the MC's bother being a siscon is probably a common trope, but not gonna lie I think his antics made me laugh at least once per chapter, which was unexpected but great. I think this might be an enjoyably shitty ride for me.

2.5 stars because there's no way I can say that this was "good", however I personally enjoyed it.

Yeah just not too happy on the fact that the FL lets her “childhood friend” take advantage of her after they haven’t seen each other for many years. I mean…can the ML just ask for her consent rather than just forcing a kiss? It just doesn’t sit right at all for me…. Also what’s the point in the tsundere bro? Ugh there’s just everything wrong with this shoujo seriously .-.

This is the sweetest start to a romance I have ever read looking forward to reading more of this series. I loved the characters so much especially Kurumi, Nagi and Ataka one is super adorable I just like the sweetness of the other I really like the over protectiveness of the last one it makes for an interesting dynamic. I loved the sweet plot of two childhood friends meeting again and liking one another while there is an over protective brother interfering it was a really sweet read.

I don't know who wins the title of creep:
👧🏽 Kurumi sucks really bad playing soccer but also is bad to saying anything, she panics everything Nagio kisses her unexpectedly but internally she likes it. Girl make a decision already!
🧒🏽 Nagio might have a little obsession with Kurumi, he doesn't care the time and place he will do everything he can to steal all the kisses. Can you just say please? Or can you do anything to woo Kurumi and not just bombard her with innuendos
🧒🏽 Ataka needs a chill pill, he pisses me off so bad. The worst big brother complex that will make you want to kill him with you bare hands just to make him shut up

The art is gorgeous and it somehow in the most cringe moment made laugh.

It’s the second series that I’m reading by Hatsuharu. Even though I wasn’t the biggest fan of the first series I’ve read, I think that I’m somehow compelled to pick her manga because of her art style. Her character’s design is really different from what I’ve seen in other shojo so far.

I guess it’s the only reason I keep reading this one because I couldn’t really connect with the characters and the story wasn’t that interesting. We know almost nothing about the main characters and I Kurumi’s brother, Ataka is sooo annoying. It was really a pain to read the scenes where he was present (which are numerous).

I usually rate pretty high even when a book contains problematic themes, but I just really didn't like this one and will likely not continue on to volume #2. More than anything, my complaint is with the art. I really dislike the way the main female character looks and the mouths of all the characters. Their mouths look so weird and unnatural to me in most of the scenes, and I just couldn't get over it. That's a personal preference thing, so take it as you will. Regarding the main female character, she looked like a young child to me and I was creeped out. I can dig size difference kink, my girlfriend is significantly taller than me and we're both in our 30's. However, the girl's face just looked so childish and young, and her frame was so much smaller than his that I couldn't get passed how wrong it looked to me, even though they are only one grade apart. I know the guy should only be one year older than her, but I felt like he was forcing himself on a very young girl and I couldn't get my brain to see it differently. So, not the story for me.

Cute!

by Barbara Kelley

This first volume is about Kurumi (a girl) and Nagio (a boy) who were childhood friends, but 8 years later are teenagers in high school. It is also about an overprotective brother, Ataka, who gets pissed off anytime Nagio even holds his sister's hand. Nagio takes every opportunity to kiss Kurumi and now his kisses are a lot different than they used to be when they were little kids. The artwork is outstanding. I gave this first episode 5 stars, and I completely read it in like an hour.

This is the second manga by Hatsuharu that I start and I guess you can tell this is an earlier work. And it's a weird one. I feel like it's weirdly fast paced and kinda bordering on sexual assault - I mean, the guy is pretty much stealing kisses, okay?

The art is nice - but also has that early style, a bit unpolished when compared to the other work of the author that I've read.

Anyway, I will continue this series although I am a bit weirded out and I hope the characters will be further developed.

I didn’t hate it I mean
The art style is the fuckin bomb
It’s less a story and more like a compilation of short stories all cumulating in a kiss at the end
Sure, it was problematic here and there
And the pacing is wack
But honestly LDK’s earlier volumes were genuinely shittier but has higher ratings, which is to say I will never trust goodreads ratings, I’ve been lied to too many times

Honestly not awful

Cute but weird art

The story was kinda cute. Childhood friend comes back to ask his crush out. He is a taaad pushy though and her brother is just over the top obsessed with her. The artwork isn't my styke, especially the way the artist draws their angry and evil faces....everything is just so exaggerated but the kisses....those were adorable lol
Kurumi is a bit dense but she know she likes her friend and I can't wait to see where this is going!

Awful.

The sister complex wasn't the main issue. It was Nagio flat out sexually assaulting FMC by kissing her whenever he pleased. She hadn't even had a chance to process his return into her life and he's forcing and gaslighting her into believing she has feelings for him. She even clearly stated she isn't sure her feelings for him are romantic but clearly this predator won't let that stop him.

I'd give it a zero if I could. Hard pass.

Very cute. Nothing too angsty. The main couple fall in love quickly and it's more about the quirks of their relationship while her big brother is ultra possessive, which actually leads to hilarious interactions between the male lead and the brother. This doesn't do anything new, but it's sweet fluff.

The difference between this and the usual high school romance manga, is that instead of endless pinning its endless kissing… also, the super protective older brother is over the top. Both the aggressive kissing and the aggressive protectiveness are not ok. The only sweet part is the childhood story between the two main characters.

This is a fun series so far. The stepbrother with a sister complex is a bit much for me, but the cute relationship building between these childhood friends is cute. I like it. I will be back for more.
