Who thought it was okay to hurt my heart like this? I was well aware that this edition was going to hurt like a motherfluffer because Chloe and Max are actually returning to Arcadia Bay, the town which got destroyed by a the storm and where Chloe basically lost everything. Like her mother. Her friends. Her house. Can you imagine the pain she must've felt to go back to a place like that? It's heart shattering.
We get to see what Arcadia Bay is looking like on the one year anniversary of the storm and how much the town has been effected. During their stay there Max's visions about the choice she made during the storm grow stronger, and she is tormented by the what if's. But mostly what would've transpired if she had decided to sacrifice Chloe...
To me this edition slaps all of choices and outcomes from the game in my face face. It was almost as if someone was throwing salt into my wounds because that's how painful it was for me to be faced with these images.
I have to finish this review with this poetic masterpiece.

Max Caufield and Chloe Price leave Seattle and their new friends behind to confront the devastation left by the Storm in Arcadia one year before, in hopes of finding some way to heal. Yet, as they approach, the rips in time getting stronger with Max, with consequences no one can predict.
This was good, very good. Definitely much better than the first. Some very nice quotes and powerful moments to remember by. You can really feel Life is Strange's spirit here, just like in the game. Max & Chloe two endearing opposites, but always strong, when together.

now i want to replay the game. and i couldn't take it the first time. this story stresses me so much. but i also love it with all my heart?? i need more, please
The short length is becoming an issue. The story was building up to an interesting development when those fateful words, "To be continued...", taunted me for my naïveté. Life is Strange #2 flew by a lot quicker than the previous issue, and Max and Chloe find themselves in more time shenanigans as they arrive on Arcadia Bay. The story again plays with subtle changes in panels to show us when Max is inadvertedly phasing between realities, but also introduces a new development allowing Chloe to partake in Max's visions, though the rules for this are still unclear.
At this point in time, I'm unsure about where the author's going with this. She could be taking it back to that fateful decision at the end of the first game, but then this series would strike me as a rather pointless journey. On the other hand, it has been hinted at that Max could potentially choose a different (better) reality to live in, what would strike me as equally unsatisfying. I guess there's nothing for it but wait for the next instalment.
Issue #1 was kind of a mess for me. Chloe and Max were in an unfamiliar location amongst unfamiliar characters and the story was incredibly confusing. In issue #2, they're back in Arcadia Bay with characters from the video game, and at last it feels like the author/artist have figured out how to convey the story they're trying to tell. Maybe in issue #1 it was just too subtle: a streak of pink in Chloe's hair, her outfit supposedly changed, and she was walking in the opposite direction that she had been a moment ago. From those incidents the reader was supposed to figure out that time was shifting for Max. But they might have been editing errors, for all I could see. Now they're shading the "other time's" panels in muted colors and making characters transparent so you can actually tell what's going on. Huge improvement and the story is getting more interesting, as well.
Things are getting weird and very sad in this ending's universe. Now Chloe can see some of what Max sees, but not all of it - and Max seems to be in quite the bad state. Still very intrigued to see where this series ends up going!
this was intense and sad, I knew going back to Arcadia Bay is going to be gut-wrenching, but not to the point of making me wanna crawl in a ball and cry. Loved how we see the other universes with different endings.
I'm loving how Chloe and Max's world is blending together even more with alternate universes, it's so cool! I'm excited to read more of this collection!
